Saturday and a Good Night's sleep

Once again I had a good night's sleep. I think the secret for me anyway is the allergy pill I have been taking at bedtime. It keeps my sinus' from draining and waking me up.

I was up at 5:00AM as usual and made my bed and got myself ready for the day. I think it's supposed to rain today so maybe I won't get my walk in. I'll wait and see what it's like later this morning after I have had my breakfast and checked on the cats.

I don't have a plan for today. The apartment is clean and dusted and I don't believe there's anything on the calendar for today.

I will go fix my coffee and oatmeal now.. 

I have had my breakfast and am drinking my coffee now. 

Scruff came for her breakfast. I didn't see anything of Blondie.  Not yet anyhow. Scruff ate quickly and left. I will leave the food out there for awhile in case she comes back or Blondie comes for his breakfast. I don't know where or what they are eating but they sure aren't eating much here.

The weather came on just as I sat back down. Today is to be 54 degrees and PM showers. tomorrow is to be 52 degrees and mostly cloudy, Monday is  to be 48 degrees and mostly  sunny, Tuesday is to be  55 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 66 degrees and partly cloudy and windy. Thursday is to be 63 degrees and rain, Friday is to be 47 degrees and snow showers. It's been awhile since we've had snow. I wonder if that will develop.

It's 6:30AM now and I am still drinking my coffee and will try to fix my chai now. Yesterday the Kerig was so slow, I didn't think it would even make coffee today. But it surprised me and did.

Strange...the Kerig is working fine today!

I did take my mile walk this morning and once again I did pick up a grocery bag full of trash of all kinds. And I had done that just yesterday.

When I got home I had to wipe off my shoes. They were pretty dirty. 

I don't know how I will "spring forward one hour" with my two watches for tomorrow. Last fall I had to go to a jewelry store in Bartlesville to get that "fall back one hour" taken care of. I may have to drop by there Monday when I go to see Nancy and ask them to "spring forward" one hour for me. 

I guess I will start another book from those Denise gave me. I have already read three of them.

According to my phone it's 50 degrees out there now at 8:50AM.

I went to the library this morning and donated the first three books I had read of the two big sacks of books that Denise had donated to me.  They will be able to use them. 

I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for my lunch with iced tea. It was fine. I didn't want to eat out again and I didn't want any more soup even though I have two or three cans of Amy's soup in the cabinet and one of Progresso. 

I didn't hear from Esther today at all.  I texted her that I was concerned about that and didn't hear back from her so I texted Keith and he said her phone was down and that was all it was. I was relieved.  She has never missed a day of texting me a "Good Morning".

I finished another book that I will be donating to the Caney library. I will take it to them on Monday. They close early on Saturdays. It's 3:39PM now. I don't think we ever got the kind of rain that was forecast today.  

About 6:20PM I went up to Independence and got a blizzard. On my way home it finally began to rain. It rained lightly all the way home. Then about 6:30PM after I got back home, I took my bath and put my pajamas on and my robe. I plan to read awhile on another book and go to bed about 9:00PM.

Tomorrow is church and I will be baking my coffeecake for the breakfast we have at church at 10:30AM. The worship service begins at 11:00AM. Karan will be the speaker tomorrow. I will be the speaker on the 19th of March.

Friday and Dusting

I slept pretty well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM, made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I started my breakfast this morning before I even booted up the computers. 

I made my breakfast next and am drinking my coffee now.I believe my Kerig is on it's last legs.  It took several tries to get a cup of coffee and I haven't even tried to get a cup of Chai Latte yet. 

I have begun my dusting though.

I will check on the cats soon. I need to set up a tray to put the laptop computer on in the living room . 

Both cats were there this morning and I fed them and Blondie didn't eat much before he left. Scruff ate more but I believe she is gone now too. I will leave the food out there a little while just in case they decide they need more to eat.

I finally took the cat food back to the garage and covered it.

The "weather on the 8's" has not come on the TV yet. But it shouldn't be long.

Sure enough, the weather was next. Today is to be 56 degrees and partly cloudy, tomorrow is to be 53 degrees and rain, Sunday is to be 55 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be  49 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 57 degrees and mostly sunny, Wednesday is to be 70 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Thursday is to be 65 degrees and PM light rain..

That's the week! We can still use the rain! 

I got the dusting finished and started another book and read until 9:06AM. Then I was tired reading and gave it up to work on the blog. There's not much to report though. It's 39 degrees out there and I might take my walk as soon as I bundle up. I will give it a try and see.

I took my mile walk and picked up another full bag of trash, empty water bottles and tin pop cans and beer cans. I am always amazed about how many people just toss their trash into the street. Absolutely no pride of their community.

I guess I will go back to my book. 

I ate the last of my chicken and noodle soup for lunch  Suzanne brought me another bunch of newspapers I will take to Karan on Sunday. She takes them to the dog pound in Coffeyville.

I read all afternoon on my new book.  It is 4:30PM now. I ought to get something more done.

I read until 6:30PM and then I put away my book. I would like to finish it this evening. 

It's almost 7:00PM now and I just took my bath and put my pajamas and robe on and put  lotion on my rough feet. Now I will check my e-mail and finish the blog. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM if I can finish the book that early.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning Today

I slept pretty well last night and was up at my usual time. I have dressed and got myself ready for the day. I just finished my breakfast here in the den. I was all ready to post my blog when I realized once again, I had no internet, So I had to reboot both computers to get it. So far, so good!

I was in time to get the weather report although there were no cats out there for breakfast. It's late for them to come..at 7:46AM They may have given up on me. I will check again later.

Today is to be 53 degrees and AM showers,  Friday is to be 56 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 56 degrees  and showers, , Sunday is to be 53 degrees and mostly cloudy, Monday is to be 48 degrees and mostly sunny, Tuesday is to be 58 degrees and mostly sunny and Wednesday is to be 70 degrees and partly cloudy and windy. That's the next week.

I had a time getting my new hearing aids open when I took them out last night. Then I had just as much trouble getting them in my ears this morning.

At 6:30PM this evening I have a Betterment meeting at City Hall.  I don't want to forget that! I joined that group last month.

I want to check on the cats again.

They still aren't there..Strange...

I got the mopping done and will wait for that to dry before starting my vacuuming.

I'm ready to start vacuuming now, I got through the blogging I follow. :)

I got all the vacuuming finished except the den. I will do that after I rest awhile and after that, I will  dust. I don't believe I got the dusting done last week. I usually save that until Friday because after I finish mopping and vacuuming I am pretty tired.

I checked and I didn't dust last Friday. If I did, I didn't put it on the blog.  But nothing would surprise me anymore.

More Later..

I Finished the vacuuming and cleaned the filter and the inside of the filter area and am charging the vacuum now. I am pretty tired. I even cleaned the toilet thoroughly. It didn't appear to be dirty but it had been awhile since a thorough cleaning on it was done. It's 10:52AM now and it rained awhile this morning. It doesn't appear to be raining just now. 

I never did see either cat this morning.

I guess I will go back to my Kindle and read again awhile.

I had a nice surprise this morning. The Caney Drug called me about my two prescriptions I had had Lori prescribe again this time. A couple of months ago, Medicare sent me a prescription card. I hadn't signed up for one when I took out Medicare because at that time I didn't take any meds at all.

Now I have been getting my thyroid med at Walgreens in Independence, Kansas because it was only $26.00 for a three month's supply there. I was getting my blood pressure pills at the Medicine Shop in Coffeyville where a three month's supply was only $10.00.

I used my new prescription card for the first time at Caney Drug this morning. The thyroid pills for a three month's supply was $3.51 and the blood pressure pill for a three month's supply was .16...that's $0.16 cents for a total for both for a three month's supply was $3.67. That's a huge savings!

I went to Dollar General to get a birthday card for my great granddaughter, Maia, and sent off a birthday card for Kelly McIntosh at church too. I also sent off a get well card to Kay Wilson and her husband,Jim, at Just Us in Cherryvale. Kay is suffering from lung cancer. Phyllis and I ate lunch at their restaurant in Cherryvale after church for several years. She and Jim have a wonderful buffet restaurant there. I hope she can recover. They can do some wonderful things with lung cancer anymore according to Kelly's wife who is a doctor. I hope she can recover. She is a very nice caring person. 

I had to go clear to Copan, Okla, about 6 miles away, to the Dollar General Store to get the birthday card I wanted for Maia. While I was in the vicinity, I stopped at Copan Restaurant and had a bowl of their vegetable beef soup. It is delicious! I have had it several times on cold or wet chilly days.

When I got back home I went to the Caney Market here and bought my grocery needs. I guess, according to the Chronicle, they had enough complaints about their changed hours that they went back to their original hours. Anyhow I bought over $26.00 worth of groceries.

Now...back to my book!

I read until I finished my book on the Kindle and now I will continue to read on the books Denise gave me. It's 7:58PM now and I have just taken my bath and put my pajamas on and my robe.

I forgot the 6:30PM meeting of the Betterment group meeting.  I was busy reading the book on my Kindle and forgot all about it. Darn it!

The cats never came for either meal so someone else is either feeding them too or they are eating birds. Who knows?

I will start another of the books Denise gave me until 9:00PM or so and then go on to bed. 

 

  

Wednesday and a Doctor's Wellness Appointment

I slept pretty well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I made my bed and dressed and am having my breakfast here in the den.  I have a 9:00AM hair appointment and a 9:30-10:00 doctor's wellness appointment. I should have my social security in the bank today.  I sure need it. 

It will be a busy day.

Soon I will go in the living room and check out the weather and the cats. They  never came to eat at all yesterday. Strange....

I got enough breakfast with a breakfast bar and some warmed up Chai Latte from yesterday. For some reason, I am not hungry this morning. 

I did catch the weather although neither cat came yet for their breakfast.

Today is supposed  to be 54 degrees and cloudy, tomorrow is to be 55 degrees and rain, Friday is to be 55 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 55 degrees and showers, Sunday is to be 54 degrees and AM showers, Monday is to be 50 degrees and mostly sunny, Tuesday is to be 56 degrees and mostly sunny. That's the week with three days of rain. We still need it. Yesterday we didn't get much.

That's it for awhile.. It's 6:32AM now.

It's 8:01AM  now and I am going to go on over to Coffeyville even though my appointment with Toni isn't until 9:00AM.Just as soon as I'm finished there, I have my doctor's wellness exam at Dr. Christensens's office. 

I went to the bank to get some  cash from my deposit of my social security and then I went to my hair appointment, After that I went to my wellness exam at the doctor's office. 

On my way back home my phone rang and I was told I had order something from Amazon from Apple  and the amount was over $1500. If wanted to cancel the order I should push "1" on my phone and another man came on and asked me my name and said they had three accounts for Margie Miller...one personal account and two business accounts. I told him I only had a personal account and no business account and he hung up. I saved the number they called from and it was a local number (620) 515-9513. When I got home I went to the Amazon account and there was no order from Apple on it. I checked my charge card and there was no charge on it either.  Then I went to the police here and told them about it and they advised me to call my bank and tell them about it so they would have a record of it too and would not accept any charge from Amazon of that huge amount. I did that. I talked to Lisa at the bank and told her all about my  phone  call.

Just another scam attempt. The police told me about another case they had dealt with when an elderly man had a shoe box with $20,000 in it and was about to send it to a person where he said his grandchild was being held until they got that money. The police asked him if he had tried to call his grandson and he said "No, he hadn't". The police told him to call his grandson and when he did, the boy answered and said he was in school. The police told the elderly man to take that shoe box to his bank and put that money back in his account. So he did. These scammers often try to scam older people because they are often more trusting   (and often more gullible) and will often buy into the scam.

Lisa told me to watch my accounts for a while especially my Amazon account and the charge card for that account.

What a mess.  

I finally got hold of the audiologist in Bartlesville about the warranty on the old hearing aid repair. It expired in May of last year. That was a waste of $350. It died 10 months too late to have any warranty left.

Tuesday and New Hearing Aids

This morning Leslie and I will meet at Tyro at 7:30AM and she and I will go to South Coffeyville for her hair appointment and then on to Tulsa for our noon appointment for my new hearing aids.The only one I had died last Friday. I had paid $350. last year to have my old one repaired. They said it had a broken wire but the one they gave me was not my original one. They may not have been able to repair my original one so they just sent me someone else's they evidently had repaired. It lasted less then a year. A very poor investment of $350. The hearing aid man at the Starkey Tulsa office told me to call the audiologist in Bartlesville where I took it to have it repaired and ask if that repair had a one year warranty. I tried to call her this afternoon but they were already gone for the day. I will try again tomorrow.

And Leslie paid $300 to get me an appointment with the one office that was participating in the program.  She had to send Starkey four months of my bank statements and my savings too. I hope her investment works out better then mine.

The two I am to get today will be free. Starkey has a program for low income folks that is called "Neighbors in Need".  It took us awhile to locate a Starkey hearing aid office that was participating in the program. Many offices were not participating in the program even though they were listed as though they were. But they chose not to participate.

More Later...I will fix my breakfast now and  check on the cats after that too.

I left here at shortly before 7:00AM and at 7:20 AM  met Leslie at Tyro. We went to her hair appointment first and then down to Tulsa for lunch first and then my appointment for my new hearing aids at noon. They were very good. I hear better then I have in years.

He took some time adjusting the sound so it was comfortable for me and then gave them to me with the box, some booklets to explain how to care for them, some batteries and a case to put them in. 

We got back to Tyro at about 3:00PM and I got back home at 3:30PM  here at Caney. I have checked out my batteries and the ones I already have and used with my other hearing aid are the same ones I will need for the new hearing aids. 

I took my bath about 7:00PM this evening and put on my pajamas and robe. I will read until 9:00, my usual bedtime.

Monday and Reading Again

I slept poorly again last night and was very restless. I was awake at 3:00AM and finally got back to sleep at until 5:30AM when I finally got up and dressed, made my bed and got myself ready for the day. I had even taken an allergy pill and that worked and stopped my sinus from draining but still I was restless. I am concerned about the mess up with my Atmos Energy bill. I did finally get it back on the bank's page but as far as I know it never went on into the pending bills account unless it did last night. I will check and see. Maybe I won't have to call Lisa at the bank after all.

Nope! The large amount is still listed in my e-mail and the correct amount is not in pending payments. Also when I checked the Atmos Address they had listed it was the Coffeyville address for the fourplex I moved here from in Coffeyville nearly three years ago.. It appears I am going to have to call Lisa and also Atmos Energy.  I want to be sure they are not billing me from the fourplex in Coffeyville. That apartment is quite a bit larger and I want to be sure I am paying the bill from this duplex here in Caney.

What a mess! 

I caught the "weather on the 8's" at last. Today is to be 69 degrees and partly cloudy, Tomorrow is to be 52 degrees and rain, Wednesday is to be 54 degrees and showers, Thursday is to be 62 degrees and thunderstorms., Friday is to be 57 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 61 degrees and showers, Sunday is to be 52 degrees and mostly cloudy. That's three days of showers and we really need the rain.

I've checked several times and there are no cats out there waiting for their breakfast.

So, More Later.... 

I couldn't get the bank to answer their phone. They simply had an answering machine and no voice mail. So I will have to go over to Coffeyville to get this mess straightened up. While I am there I will get gas again and also the two things I need from Walmart that I can't get here at Dollar General.

I drove over to Coffeyville and got Dana at the bank to help me with the web site's bill paying site. The bank had a glitch in their payment site. And also the woman in charge of turning off their phones over the weekend forgot to do that. That's why I only got a recording when I tried to call them to take care of that business over the phone.

I also called Atmos Energy and got my account number. I had no letter giving me my account number and I thought I should have that information.

I read all afternoon......

I took my bath at 7:00PM and went back to my book. It was so different I really couldn't put it down. I read until 8:47PM and finally finished it. I will go to bed at 9:00PM  because I need to be up early. I will meet Leslie at Tyro at 7:30AM in the morning. We will go to South Coffeyville for her to get her hair done and then on to Tulsa for me to get my hearing aids.

 

Sunday and Breakfast at Church

I slept well last night except for one incident. At 1:05AM, my doorbell woke me up. This is the second time that has happened in the middle of the night. Last time, a month or so ago, I got up and opened the front door. There was no one there. This time I just ignored it and got back to sleep eventually. I was up early because I had to bake my coffeecake for breakfast at church. So while I was up, I stripped my bed and put clean sheets on it and did a load of laundry. It's dry and folded and put away now. And the coffeecake is out of the oven and cooling and I will put the glaze on it after it cools. 

Tomorrow I will take the cookies up to Independence to the First Christian Church there. I hope someone will be at the church on Monday. I usually take them on Tuesday but Tuesday Leslie and I will be going to Tulsa after she gets her hair done in South Coffeyville at 8:00AM. I will get my new hearing aids in Tulsa at noon or shortly afterward. The one I have been wearing died on Friday. I still have 70 percent of my hearing in both ears according to my test. But I heard very little of yesterday's funeral because they didn't use the mike.

Leslie and Kelly had a meeting after the funeral so Karan and I sat out on the porch there at the campgrounds and visited. Evidently Melissa sat in on the meeting too. It was another hour before we could leave to come home.

I got the coffeecake out of the oven, let it cool some and then put a glaze on it. Then I checked on the cats and they were both out there. I got them fed and then caught "the weather on the 8'S ".

Today is to be 75 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 75 degrees and partly cloudy too, Tuesday is to be 54 degrees and showers,  Wednesday is to be 57 degrees and showers, Thursday is to be 57 degrees and showers, Friday is to be 53 degrees and partly cloudy, and Saturday is to be 53 degrees and partly cloudy. It looks like the three days of rain is still in there.

I left for church and got there and everyone had brought their cookies for the first Christian Church. We had our breakfast and then our worship service and after church I took the cookies up to Independence and found a woman in the kitchen working on Tuesday's free meal. She took the cookies and was very glad to get them. I was happy that I could find someone still there as late as it was after church broke up.

I then came on back home and read most of the afternoon. Scruff came back for her supper and I fed her again. I also gave them some clean water. Blondie didn't come back this evening.

I took my bath about 8:00PM and will read until bedtime at 9:00PM or so..
