Saturday and Dusting

I slept much better last night and slept until almost 6:00AM.  I have made my bed and got myself ready for the day. I  had my breakfast bar and am now working on my oatmeal.

In a little while I will go watch "the weather on the 8's" and see what the weather  will be like today. It rained on and off yesterday and I mostly stayed in and read. I never did dust yesterday so I will try to get that done today. Then I will get back to the latest book.

It's also past time to check out the cats.

I only found two cats out there this morning.  Scruff isn't there this morning. ...at least not yet. There is just Blondie and Inky out there.  So I fed them out by my front door. They appear to be learning that they have to stay back away from the door if they want to get fed.

I'll get back to this later....

Scruff, Scruffie's second litter remaining cat, showed up later and I put the double dish out for that one. Blondie and Inky came back too but they only drank water since they were full from the earlier feeding.

Then a skinny grey cat that looked like a skinny Scruffie came by and looked. I am not sure it was Scruffie since the last time I saw her she was very pregnant. This one was definitely not pregnant. It's a mystery.

I finally had enough room in the container to put the new sack of cat/kitten food in it.

More later. I recorded the CBS morning Saturday news and I will watch it now.

I watched the CBS news as I had recorded it and then after deleting the recording had no interest in watching Prince Phillip's funeral. I will turn the TV back on if Lucky Dog is not preempted by the funeral. It is usually on at 10:00AM. It's only 8:51AM right now so I have awhile. I guess I have enough time to dust now.

More later...

It's almost 9:30AM now and I have finished the dusting. The place shines now. I still have a little time before Lucky Dog comes on...if it comes on. I just peeked at the funeral and they are still sitting in the church so Lucky Dog may be preempted after all. I will just have to check at 10:00AM.

I was lucky..Lucky Dog was not preempted after all. So I watched the program I had recorded. Now it's nearly 11:00AM and I am beginning to think about lunch. I had a frozen dinner yesterday so I am thinking about going to Eggbert's for lunch today where I can have the honey chicken salad.   It's only 10:59AM now so it's a little early. I will wait another 30 Minutes before heading out there.

I went out to Eggbert's and had my favorite Eggbert's meal....Honey Chicken Salad. I really like that and it's healthy.... Chicken salad on a bed of lettuce and a small bowl of fruit and a warm muffin. Now I am full.

When I got home I found I had received a dozen lily bulbs that I had ordered months ago. They must have sent them when it was time to plant them. Anyhow, I took my little trowel and went out and planted them and watered them. The instructions said to plant them upon arrival. I may not have planted them deep enough. I think it was only about three or four inches and I think the instructions said 12 inches. I may have to replant them. I did water them though. It's 45 degrees out there. Not warm enough for me to stay out there and dig in the dirt.

More later...I am going to go read now.

I called Nancy and told her Gina texted me that I could only visit her on Tuesdays or Wednesday because her Visiting Angles would be there every other day. I told her we would plan on going out of town  on Tuesday the 27th. Next week my kids will be here from Tuesday through Friday so it will have to be the following week.

I read all afternoon on a new book I downloaded from Amazon. About 5:20, I ate a banana for my supper.

It's 6:08PM now and I have just watched the CBS evening news and will soon take my bath so I will be ready to go to bed at 9:00PM or thereabouts.

Tomorrow is church and I will be the speaker at 11:00AM and then I plan to watch the Zoom Mission Center evening service at 6:00PM.

Friday and Early Rising

I slept fitfully last night and woke up several times. I finally got up shortly before 5:00AM and made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I had Nancy's situation on my mind. He son is having Visiting Angels come five days a week and fix her meals. The only days they will not be there are Tuesday and Wednesday. So if I want to visit her or take her to lunch or for a drive, it will have to be Tuesday or Wednesday or both. The poor woman is trapped in her own home among strangers. It will be interesting to see how that works out. She is so depressed she slept all day yesterday.

I have had my breakfast now and am working on my Chai Latte.  Soon I will go in the living room and turn on the TV for the "weather on the 8's" to see if we are still getting rain today.

Sure enough we are having rain this Friday, next Tuesday and Thursday. That's bad news. My kids are coming in to Tulsa airport on Tuesday and driving a rental car to Caney and their anniversary is Thursday and they leave Friday to fly back to Phoenix. Spring weather is so uncertain.

More later...

I read most of the afternoon and didn't eat my lunch until nearly 3:00PM. Even then I had a frozen meal. I called Nancy mid afternoon but could not raise her. If I were going to guess,I would say she was sleeping.

I dropped a couple of things by the post office mid afternoon but otherwise went back to first my sermon and second the latest book. I ate another breakfast bar for my supper. I usually have a banana.

At about 5:00PM, I fed the three cats their leftovers from breakfast.

I had a text from Leslie saying they were back home from Roaring River. She offered to help me with the service on Sunday. I asked her to help me with the oblation remarks and she agreed. I tried to e-mail her the scripture for the oblation and also the bulletin but I tried twice and she could not receive it. I ended up sending it to her church address and she got that. She will use recorded music since we are not able to sing during the pandemic.

Sometime before 7:00PM, I took my bath and prepared to go to bed at 9:00PM. My Kindle is being charged again so I can't read. It's nearly 8:00PM now but that's too early to go to bed.I'll try to find something on TV or play solitaire.

Thursday and Apartrment Cleaning

I slept really well last night and only got up once in the night. I was up close to 6:00AM and dressed and made my bed. I am in the process of eating my breakfast now.  I even fed the three cats before myself. Now I am drinking my coffee.

When the CBS news  comes on, I will clean the apartment while the commercials are on. I get so tired of commercials. That's a good time to mop and vacuum.

I brought in the cat's dishes in when they finished their breakfast and put them in the garage and covered them.

It's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow. I am glad I had the yard mowed on Monday. It's supposed to rain tomorrow too. It will probably be at least Monday before I can get it mowed again.

It's10:00AM and I have mopped all the bare floors and vacuumed all the carpets. I will dust tomorrow. I am very tired. I am always amazed at all the dirt the vacuum picks up. I seldom wear my shoes in the house and just wear my house slippers. I can't imagine where all the dirt comes from. I am always amazed at the amount. I wish I could find a carpet dry cleaner. I sure don't want to put water on the carpet. The fellow from Tyro that did my carpets out on 2nd street in Coffeyville in the 80's and Nathan Marsh, Doug's son, that did the ones on Parkway in the 90's are no longer in the area.

It's1:35PM now and I have had my leftover lunch. I had brought half my hamburger and french fries home with me from Eggbert's and warmed the hamburger up in the microwave and the french fries in the skillet.

I have read awhile but so far this book has not grabbed me. I didn't get any mail today. Usually I still get some junk mail. But nothing at all today.

More later...

I planned to take Nancy to lunch tomorrow but Gina, her cousin's wife, told me they have arranged for Visiting Angels to come fix her breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays so we will have to make some different plans. Nancy needs socialization but not more control. Her cousin's wife tries to control her. She is determined that Nancy has Alzheimer's disease.  But my sister had Alzheimer's Disease and if Nancy has Alzheimer's Disease she has a very different kind from my sister, Phyllis, a carpenter friend, George Tesh, and my friend Mary Holestine. Nancy told me in 2011 that she had it and she is still perfectly lucid. In four years, my sister could no longer feed herself or carry on a coherent conversation. Nancy may be a little forgetful but after all she's 86 years old and even at 85, I forget some names and stuff like that. But I guarantee you I do not have Alzheimer's Disease.

It's 7:30PM, I guess I will go see what's on TV. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM or so.

Wednesday and a Hair Appointment

I slept very well again last night and slept until 5:00AM when I got up and made the bed and dressed. I came in the den and checked my e-mail and then went to the kitchen to fix my breakfast. I had my breakfast bar and fixed my oatmeal and coffee. By then it was 6:30AM.

I forgot to mention yesterday that my eldest son, Keith, called last night and we had quite a visit. Keith invited me to go with them next year or in 2023 on their tour of Europe. I would have to be able to walk three miles and I knew I wouldn't be able to do that at 86 or 87 but it was a nice thought anyhow. I appreciated the offer.

They will be here for four days this next week. They will fly in on Tuesday sometime. They will be celebrating their anniversary here with me and Leslie and John on Thursday. I don't know where they will want to go...probably to Bartlesville where there are some nice restaurants. We will discuss that when they are here. Leslie and John will know where the good ones are.

I think I will fix some chili for Tuesday evening since I don't know when they will be in from their flight.  I plan to have  a roast, potatoes and carrots from my slow cooker on Wednesday. Thursday is their anniversary and I imagine they will eat at a nice restaurant that evening. Then Friday some time they will be leaving for their flight home to Phoenix.

Right now I will go watch "the weather on the 8's" and have my Chai Latte. I will get back to this later.

I fed the same three cats this morning. Blondie, Inky and  Scruff. I am able to take their food out the front door now without interference from them.

It's 7':01AM now and I will leave at 8:00AM  for my hair appointment in Coffeyville.  It's between 8:30AM and 9:00AM.  Toni goes to the gym every morning and works out before she comes in to the salon. If I am there when she is ready she will often work me in a little early. I can always sit in the car and listen to NPR.

More later...

It's a good thing I left even earlier. It was one lane traffic while they resurface the highway one lane at a time. I got to Coffeyville early and had time to get gas at Woodshed. I got my hair done today and made a new 8:30AM appointment for Monday. I didn't want to have to go over to Coffeyville to get my hair done while Keith and Esther were here.

After that, I came on back home..using the old highway. I didn't want to get in on that one lane highway again. It's10:29AM now and I guess I will read some more. I have a load of towels in the washer now. When they finish washing I will put them in the dryer.

I went to the new Caney Market and bought groceries for next week The only thing I couldn't find was a small beef roast and carrots. I will get those  Monday at Country Mart in Coffeyville. It's after 11:00AM now and soon the mail will be coming.

I didn't get any mail which is good. Usually I just get junk anyhow.

I couldn't stand the thought of another frozen meal so I went out to Eggbert's and had a hamburger and french fries. Brought half of it home. Way too much food!

I called Nancy about 3:00PM and she answered right away. She wanted me to come over so I did. I stayed until 5:20PM and then came home to eat something. I ate another breakfast bar.

Now I am watching the CBS news. It is almost 6:00PM now.

Tuesday and a Restless Night

I knew it was too good to be true...I slept fine last night until about 2:30AM when I began waking up about every hour. I was very tired when I went to bed last night and that may be some of the reason. Anyhow, I gave up about 4:30AM and just got up and made the bed and dressed. I have had my breakfast too and am drinking my coffee now. In a minute or so, I will go watch "the weather on the 8's" and eventually check on the cats.

This morning I will leave about 8:00AM to go to Coffeyville and pick up the two cakes there at Karan's and Phyllis'. Then I will take them to Independence to the First Christian Church for their Tuesday evening free meal. I don't want to forget my cake in my freezer.

While I am there I will wash my car and eventually vacuum it out again. If I don't get that done today, I will do it tomorrow when I am back in Coffeyville for my hair appointment at 9:00AM.

More later..I will go check the weather now.

We have a small chance for rain today but not too much. It's 6:10AM now and I will not leave until 8:00AM...at least that's my plan.

I had the same three cats out there for their breakfast..Blondie, Inky and Scruff. Still no Scruffie. She has either died or been killed by a car. She was very pregnant so she could have died giving birth, I guess. If that happened, the kittens would have died of starvation...who knows what happened.

More later...

I did stop first and wash and dry my car.I vacuumed it out at home using my little portable car vacuum.

Then I got over to Karan's about 8:15AM and she had forgotten to bake her cake. She said she even had it on her calendar. I picked up Phyllis' and I had mine but that was all. Bob died, of course, so we were already short one cake and this time we only had two. On top of that, they had changed their hours at the Christian Church and neglected to tell me. Instead of 8:00AM they are opening the office at 9:00AM. I left a message on their phone and was about to leave when I saw the office manager drive up on the north side and park. She helped me carry in the cakes. We each took one.

Then I went to Orscheln's and bought cat food and came on back home.

More later....

I read for awhile on my latest book. I didn't know what I wanted for lunch so I just didn't war lunch.

Later I called Nancy and went over to visit her. It was a beautiful day and so we decided to take a ride and get her (and me) out of the house. We drove up to Independence and drove around the town for awhile  looking at area out by the country club. Then we stopped at Dairy Queen and I got a small blizzard and she got  a small vanilla milk shake. Then we started for home. We got to the turn off for Sedan and decided to drive over there and see how that small community fared. We drove around Sedan to the areas we were familiar with and finally came on back to Caney. I stayed and visited until 5:00PM and then came on back to my apartment  By this time I was very tired so I took my bath and read until I  finished the book at 11:00PM  and finally put down the Kindle and turned off the light and went to bed.

Monday and Mowing Again

I don't know when I have slept until 6:30AM but I did last night.  Strange.... I changed my bed this morning and did a load of laundry. I just put that load in the dryer. I have now had my breakfast and it's just now 7:52AM. That's the latest I have been getting around in I don't know how long. I got the dry laundry folded and put away.

I did take a few moments to feed the three cats. As usual, it was Inky, Blondie and Scruf (Scruffie's cat (kitten) from her last litter. I took their food out the front door without incident. Sometimes they won't move away from the door and I am afraid one of them will try to come in the apartment. Blondie is the worst offender of that.

Now I need to go watch  "the weather on the 8's". I am hoping the yard will get mowed after school today. It really needs it now. We are forecast for rain on Friday.

More later...

I went up the the new Caney Market to get my bananas and some Tide.  It will be interesting to see just how the prices compare. Nevertheless, I intend to give them my business. What more I may spend on groceries will be offset by the cost of gas to go out of town to buy groceries cheaper. It is 9:44AM now and I will go back to watching the CBS morning news.

I have been working on Sunday's sermon and will post it here on Sunday after church for Sister -Three who asked me to do that.

It is 12:56PM now and I will go check my mail and eat my lunch. Time got away from me.

More later...

I ended up going out to Sonic and getting the child's Wacky Pack with chicken and french fries and a small coke. That's what I was hungry for. It had been awhile since I had done that.

When I got home I baked my cake for the First Christian Church  in Independence. I iced it and after it was cool I froze it later in the afternoon. I will go over to Coffeyville tomorrow and pick up Phyllis' and Karan's and put my own in the trunk of my car with theirs.

About 5:30PM, the teenager that mows for me came and mowed and I trimmed. I ran out of cord and could not get the new cord to snap in. Her stepdad helped me and after awhile he finally got it in and then I finished trimming the back yard and swept off the walk. I got my blower out, backed out my car, and blew out the garage. It has needed it for awhile so I finally got it done.  The yard was really looking terrible. It had been two weeks since she mowed it the first time. It looks a lot better now. She doesn't do a really great job but for $25.00 she is a bargain. Especially since I can no longer do it myself....disgustingly enough! I could sure use the exercise. Sitting around for a year has really zapped my strength. I did manage to get the lid off the gas can this time and refilled the mower. I also blew off the mower. It really needs to be washed. Maybe later tomorrow I will take it around to the back and wash it off with the hose.

Then I came in and took my bath. I will watch the CBS evening news that I had recorded and then read awhile until I go to bed about 9:00PM, That will be awhile. It's only 7:03PM now.

Sunday and Church

We are having "in building" church again this morning at 11:00AM...no Church School yet...that may be too much closeness during the pandemic.

I was up at 5:00AM, made my bed and dressed and had my breakfast. In a little while, after I get the morning's posting started here on the blog, I will make my coffeecake up for church. Whatever is left I will send home with Kelly and take some back home for Nancy.

I haven't had the "weather on the 8's" on yet either. That will be first and then I will check out the cats. Then I will get that coffeecake in the oven.

The "weather on the 8's" says we will not get any more rain until Friday.

So more later....

May be an image of cat and indoor

These are the three cats I am still feeding Inky, Blondie and Scruf. Scruf is from Scruffie''s second litter...the only one of the two that survived. The litter mate was the one that was run over by a car and left in the street to be run over again. I took my rake and a plastic bag and put the poor thing in the trash. I had no shovel or I would have buried it.

More later...

I got the coffeecake out of the oven and iced. It is finishing cooling now. I watched the weather on the 8's and put the trash out for Tuesday. I won't move it to the curb until Monday afternoon. I am never quite sire how early they will come on Tuesday. I don't want to be missed.

If the yard dries enough, one of the girls will come mow for me. It is still wet now from the rain on day before yesterday evening.

Church doesn't start until 11:00AM and it's only 7:45AM now. I have plenty of time. When the Dollar General store opens I want to buy some plastic bags with zippers for the leftover coffeecake. The cheap ones just don't close well enough. I don't want it to dry out. I imagine it opens at 8:00AM  but I will call to be sure.

I went out to Dollar General shortly after 8:00AM and they were open so I bought more pecan chips and zipper sandwich bags for the coffeecake leftovers.   It's only 9:00AM now so I have plenty of  time.

So, more later....

I watched the news and then left at 10:00AM so I could get the coffeecake ready and coffee made before 11:00AM when the service started.

After the service Karan, Phyllis and the two Simmons went to "Just Us" at Cherryvale to eat out. Kelly and Melissa took Shawn home to Coffeyville so Karan could go with us.  There were only 14 there this morning. We had plenty of spacing but not a large congregation.

I speak next Sunday. I have my sermon ready already. I worked on it yesterday.

The girl who was supposed to mow for me today forgot she was to go to her cousin's birthday celebration so she plans to mow tomorrow. I drove up to Miller Brothers in Independence and let the man fill my tank up and also my gas can. I couldn't get the cap off the gas can so I let the employee at Miller Brothers do it for me.

More later. I recorded some programs on Tivo today and I will watch them.

I got on Zoom this evening and watched the Mission Center worship service.

Then I watched the rest of the recorded Master's Golf Tournament and the watched the rest of 60 Minutes. I had all those recorded.

Tomorrow I will strip my bed and do some laundry.

At shortly after 8:00PM, I took my bath and put my PJs and robe on to come in here in the den and finish this blog. It's 8:26PM now and I may read awhile before going on to bed at 9:00PM or so. I am very tired.
