Saturday and Another Day to Read

I slept fairly well last night but I did take two Melatonin tablets to calm my mind.

I got up at 5:00AM and dressed and checked my e-mail and had my breakfast and coffee.

When I opened the front door there were all the cats ready for their breakfast. I had to take the bowls out through the garage because they would not get away from the door so I could open it.

I am not anticipating the big job coming up on the 14th of the month when they put down my new flooring. I will be gone to Coffeyville that day for my hair appointment, gasoline and groceries as well as Bunco at the senior center. They have those on two Wednesdays of the month...the second and the fourth Wednesdays. It is a big day those two Wednesdays. That just happens to be the one for Bunco.

Then Dean plans to come the very next day on the 15th for a couple of days for a visit. The Tuesday before that, I will need to empty the stuff in the little roll top desk into a box. I will need to get into the attic before that to bring down a box to put all that stuff in. I will set the box in the den until the flooring is finished.

I dread all that mess. I think I want that rug from the den put in the dining room over that flooring.

More later....

I started reading the McMasters book Gay suggested last evening. It is primarily about the military strategies over the past couple of decades.  It also talks about his experiences with dealing with foreign  hostile governments..pretty boring stuff so far.

I will continue with it today to see if it gets any more interesting.

So, more later...

I pulled down the ladder to the attic and got the boxes I needed to empty the desk for the men from Derailed Commodities the 14th. I am a week early doing that but I wanted to be sure I would have the time to get it done. Next week we will have cakes again and I may have to take them up on Tuesday since Bob is so crippled up that he uses a cane. There are four cakes. Now that desk emptying job is done and that is one less thing to have to deal with. I will still have the cleaning to do when they move the appliances out to lay that flooring. ..or Suzanne will have to do it. The frig and range haven't been out in years. I can only clean under them so far with my swifter. There's probably some stuff under that washer and dryer too. John just installed them a year and a half ago but that is enough time for dust to accumulate under them.

I dread the mess.

Wednesday is my hair day and the Bunco games at the senior center. I also run all my errands while I am over to Coffeyville on Wednesdays.

More later...

It's almost 3:30PM and I have been reading that new Kindle book. I fell asleep while reading it. It is "Battlegrounds" and it so boring that I fell asleep.  In another 35 minutes I will go check out the news.

At the first hospital news conference this morning, the doctors didn't give out much information about Trumps condition. The way he is, they probably won't be allowed to give out any information even though it's the best for the country, not to mention the sock market, if they will keep the country informed. At least a dozen more people have developed the virus since Trump had all those open meetings with no space limitations and no face masks...at least two senators and several of his staff.

I took my bath about 6:30PM and will either ead on the book or play Freecell. Then I will go on to bed at 900PM.

Friday and a Day to Read

I slept fairly well last night and even slept until 6:00AM. I got up and dressed and had my breakfast, a breakfast bar and my coffee  and am now working on my Chai.

I see by the New York Times this morning that Trump has tested positive for the coronavirus. I wouldn't wish that on anyone not even a president I have no use for. I hope he recovers alright. And I hope his family doesn't get it. I now see on channel 6 that the first lady has it too. They are quarantined. Pence was also tested but tested negative.

I have fed all the cats and I am going to have to buy more cat food today. Feeding five of them takes a lot of cat food.

I don't have a plan for today except to try to finish this book. I am not impressed with it so it is taking awhile to get through it. It is called "The Bright Side of Going Dark" . It's one of Amazon's free reads.

More later...I want to watch the CBS news to get more details about the Trump's situation.

Suzanne came and picked up the rent check and the money from the kids next door. Then she came back and told me that the big black dog that runs loose in the neighborhood had taken off with my double cat bowl and was eating the leftover cat food in it. . I chased him off and scolded him. I'll bet he was the one that took off with my original double bowl months ago. After that, I had to go buy this one that he took off with today. That reminds me, I need to go get more cat food before noon or evening.. Once again, I am out.

The president and his wife having the virus leaves us with a dilemma. The debates are probably going to have to be cancelled.  This could get even more interesting,

So more later...

I watched a couple of episodes of Dateline while I ate my lunch. I finished off the chicken and noodled Suzanne gave me earlier. It was good. I got my mail and it was mostly political advertisements. I will be so glad when this election is over.

Thursday and House Cleaning Day

I slept very well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I have had my oatmeal and coffee and even a breakfast bar. I am still working on my coffee. It is 45 degrees out there this morning. Fall is definitely here.

I found two large spiders this morning. One was in the bathtub and the other in the kitchen sink. I had Steve spray for them earlier this fall because I had found four and killed them. One was a brown recluse spider. The others were just spiders. Evidently whatever he used didn't last long.

I haven't even looked out to see if the cats/kittens were out there waiting for their breakfast. Maybe I should do that now

Back later....

Yes, they were out there in force. I put out all four bowls..including the double dish. They are all five eating as though they haven't had anything in days.

I will clean the apartment this morning. I will clean during commercials as usual. It's only 6:25AM right now I will wait until 7:30AM or so to start. I usually mop first and then run the sweeper. I need to take the sweeper apart after I use it this morning and wash the filters. I am always amazed at how much dirt I get in this apartment when I run the sweeper. Usually I leave my shoes on the rugs by the doors.

I asked Suzanne if she had cleaned the carpets before I moved in and she said she had. The woman who lived here before me was no house cleaner. Suzanne said she paid a woman $100 to clean it and then she re-cleaned it herself.

More later...

I got the floors mopped (all but just in front of the front door where Scruffie is sitting outside) and the bedroom, hall and the den vacuumed. I still have the living room and dining room to do but I have all morning to do that. It's time for the CBS news so I will get back to this and the cleaning later.

I got the rest of the cleaning done except for the dusting. I may get to that this afternoon or at least tomorrow. I took the sweeper all apart and washed it with wet paper towels and washed the filters and set them aside to dry for 24 hours. That's what the instructions say to do with those filters.

It is almost 9:00AM and I have got a lot done this morning and all during commercials. And I sure don't miss those.

Suzanne says they will do my new flooring on October 14th...that's a Wednesday so I will be gone all that day. Hopefully she can be here. The day before, I am supposed to empty my little roll top desk. The floor layer people will move all the furniture and appliances out to lay the flooring. I will get into the attic and get some of those empty file boxes down to fill with the contents of the desk. I will set those boxes in the den. They will lay that flooring in the bathroom, the utility area, the kitchen and the dining room. It will look like hardwood floors but it will be linoleum. I may move the rug in the den into the dining room. That's where I had it in the Coffeyville apartment.

More later.... it is 9:08AM and I may as well get the dusting done before 10:00AM when the CBS news is off . Commercials are back.

I got all the dusting finished and then had my lunch. I had some of that chicken and noodles Suzanne brought me yesterday. It was good.

Now I will go enjoy some sunshine while we still have it. It is 1:20PM now.

I went over to Myrtle's Market and looked around this afternoon. I didn't buy anything but they had a lot of new stuff.

Then I called Nancy again and this time she answered. It was a beautiful day and I thought she might want to get out and take a trip to Independence and perhaps stop and see the puppies while they are still with John and Leslie.

We did that and besides went to Independence and bought a Blizzard there. If we were known for sure that John would be there, we would have brought him a blizzard too.Sure enough he was there and all the dogs were out there with him...including the puppies.  Nancy got to hold "Ace" and he was a cuddler. She really enjoyed that. I took her home and stayed an hour and visited until I played out and went home.

I fed five cats when I got home. They were waiting for me to get home so they could have their dinner.

John may take part in the art show in Chanute tomorrow.  He has chosen three probable paintings to take if he decides to participate there. He hasn't made up his mind yet.

It's 6:25PM now and I may as well take my bath at 7:00PM.  Then I will read until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

Wednesday and a Busy Day

I slept fairly well last night and got up shortly after 5:00AM. I had a light breakfast that early and went over to Coffeyville at 7:00AM to have a fuller breakfast with Bob, my brother -in-law.

Then I bought my gas and got my hair done and went out to Wal Mart and bought four things. Then I washed the car.  I also went by the jewelry store and had another new battery put in my watch. It appears to be going through a battery every six months.

After that I realized I had too much time to kill before my 1:00PM eye appointment. So I drove back home at 10:30AM and will leave again at 12:30PM for the 1:00PM appointment. I wanted to get an 11:00AM appointment but that one was taken so I took this 1:00PM one.  I will need more contacts but do not want to get new glasses.

I fed the cats and the yellow kitten again. Before I leave I will bring in the double bowl.....the only one I have left out there. I hope the mail comes before I leave.

Suzanne, my landlady,  came and brought me soup. She is so thoughtful.

I got over to Coffeyville again in good time. I had about a 15 minutes wait to get in. They close for noon.

I got a good eye examine. I need new contacts. I am on my last one. They gave me a new prescription and ordered new ones. They evidently "breathe" better...  according to Dr. Dobbins. They will call me in a week and see how I am getting along with them. Then if everything is fine, they will order a years worth of new ones.

She also wants me to get new glasses. I really don't want any new glasses. The only time I wear glasses is when I take my contacts out. Usually I go to bed then.  I don't know what the bill will be. There is a basic $15.00 deductible charge and also $25.00 that medicare won't pay. Then there is the cost of the contacts. I won't know what that is until they come in. I will have to transfer some money from my savings for that too.

Always something.....

When I got back to Caney at 2:30PM,  I stopped at Sonic and got the Wacky Pack chicken strips and tater tots and a small Coke. (That was $2.18) That was my lunch.

Now I am watching an episode of Dateline that I had recorded.  It is 3:30PM now.

More later....

I started to put my trash in the large trash can and realized I was now out of the 13 gallon kitchen trash bags, So I went out to our Dollar General and bought some. Seems it's always something. I thought I bought everything I needed out at Coffeyville's Wal Mart this morning.

It going on 7:00PM now so I will take my bath and then read until bedtime at 9:00PM

Tuesday and Delivering Cakes

I will leave for Coffeyville to pick up the other three cakes at 8:00AM. I told Bob I would be there at 8:30AM so that should work. It is 46 degrees today so I wore long jeans and a long sleeved shirt.I will stop at the Independence Wal Mart and buy three things I need...including kitten food..Those cats seem to prefer kitten food and our Dollar General doesn't carry the kitten food.

I think Bob intended to take the cakes up himself but I had frozen mine here at home so I will need to do it again. He has Phyllis' and Karan's as well as his own.

I slept well after I finally got to sleep. I did wake up once to go to the bathroom but that's normal at my age. I got up at 5:00AM and have had my oatmeal and coffee and Chai already.  I should see if any of the cats/kittens are out front waiting for their breakfasts. There are usually between three and five each morning.

More later...

I got away to go to Bob's and pick up the cakes at 8:00AM. He had them in his truck. I put them in my trunk and went on up Cline Road to the 3900 road to Independence and when I arrived I honked to let Barbara know I was there and she came and helped me unload them. Then I went out to their Wal Mart and bought the few things I needed and then came on back home. It is 10:00AM now so I got quite a bit done before lunch time.

I will be back to Coffeyville in the morning  for breakfast with Bob and then will go to my hair appointment at 9:00AM or so and after that I will go get gas at Woodshed in South Coffeyville. I will have some time to kill after that. My eye appointment is not until 1:00PM. So I will have lunch somewhere in Coffeyville.

I don't have anything in particular planned for today. Everything is pretty much done. I did the laundry yesterday morning.  The leaves from the tree across the street are back in my yard. I won't clean them up again right away.

More even later...

I went downtown to see what the new store is that went in there in the old Baker Drug location. I went by Nancy's to see if she wanted to go but she was taking a nap after her lunch and I could tell she wanted to get back to the nap instead. She wasn't dressed so I could understand that.

I came back home and swept out the garage. It was pretty dirty. I may go by the library and check out a book. I may go rake some more if I get really bored. There are plenty of leaves back in the front yard. I will see how much energy I can work up. I had one of my Smart Meals from Wal Mart for lunch and watched an episode of Dateline as I ate it. All I got in mail was just junk. I threw it all in the trash.

It is warming up out there. It is up to 75 Degrees.

More later....

I did some more raking and vacuuming on the front yard. It isn't perfect but it's better. It's impossible to keep it neat as long as the wind is blowing and the guy across the street has that tree that sheds all it's leaves in my direction. I will just have to put up with it.

I checked the statistics at the heath department again and the numbers just keep going up.

The worst I guess is the 20 to 29 year olds with 83 cases.  426 cases county wide and 99 active. 6 deaths.

There were 385 cases on the 21st. 5 deaths at that time and 73 cases active.

It's 6:30PM now and I have just had my bath. At 9:00PM, I will go to bed but first I will read awhile.

Monday and Laundry

I slept fitfully last night and finally got up at 5:00AM as usual. I have dressed and had my breakfast and am ready for the day.

I have fed all the cats/kittens already. They are still out there eating. There are five cats/kittens and five dishes including the double dish the kittens often share.

I need to do laundry today but there is no huge rush to start. I have all day. I need to wash my towels and washcloths and my underwear.

I may see if Nancy would like to eat lunch out today.  I know Gina, her cousin's wife  usually does lunch for her so that may not be possible.

I see it is supposed to cool down this week and become fall at last. It is 52 degrees  here this morning.

I finished my Kindle  book last night. It was pretty interesting. Now I will have to find something else to read. I will check to see if there are any more "free" Amazon books I can download to my Kindle.

More later...I guess I will start the laundry.

I got the laundry started and balanced my check book. So more later...

I have the laundry in the dryer now.  I will need to get some more dryer sheets the next time I  go to a market..

I also need bananas since I only have one left. Tomorrow I go to Independence to take the cakes up to the First Christian Church there and I can stop at their Wal Mart store on my way home and get what I need. I need boxed birthday cards for the church members and I will need cat food again.

More even later...

If these leaves dry I will vacuum them up.  I had them all cleaned up yesterday and the neighbor across the street has a tree in his south yard that is losing it's leaves and they blow over on my front yard. So I raked awhile but I will be doing it several times this fall. Sometimes he blows them out of his yard into the street and then they blow over into my yard. I have about 20 of these piles in the front yard.

I don't know how long it will stay that way!

Here's the other end of the front.

I guess I will see what I can have for lunch now.

After lunch I looked outside and could not tell I had done anything. Leaves are all over the yard again. What a waste of energy.

It is nearly 1:00PM now and I will watch some Amazon Prime or something I have recorded..

So, more even later...

I ended up with a peanut and jelly sandwich for my lunch. I also had an ice cream bar..  I am waiting for for the 5:30PM CBS news but it's just 4:40PM right now. I have some time to rake again but it would be all for nothing.. I will just let it go.

More later....

I had my bath at 7:00PM and read the rest of the evening.

After I had that sausage burrito, my stomach was upset all evening. In fact I felt like I could lose it before I went to bed. I took several Tums but that did not help. I did finally get to sleep. It must have been just lying down that helped. I went on to bed at 8:45PM

Sunday and Online Church

I slept very well and didn't get up until 6:00AM. I have had my breakfast and coffee and even my chai. I have even fed all the cats/kittens. I am watching "Good Morning America" .

I watched Brooks and Shields yesterday about the new nominee for the Supreme Court and they are very impressed with her   I trust their judgment and have followed their commentary for years.

I slept so well because I had mowed the front yard . John mowed the rest of the yard, west side and back. I mowed only the front and three turns around the west side. I really appreciated his help. I would have had a time emptying those two bags of clippings. I usually have to turn the trash container on it's side and put the bag in and then stand the container up again. That works for me if I am mowing. I like the self propelled mower he brought. All I have to do is guide it.

This morning at 11:00AM I will watch the Toronto worship service on facebook and then this evening at 7:00PM I will watch Springfield Missouri's  worship service on Zoom.

Other then that, I have no plans for today.

More later....it is 7:40AM and I need to get something done besides blogging.

I got the leaves cleaned up in the gutter... Again! I wonder how long it will last this time....

My neighbor across the street  blows his leaves out of his yard over his curb and they then blow over to my gutter. He doesn't pick them up and bag them. He just leaves them there for the wind to blow them across the street.

I am watching the Toronto worship service this morning. It's always very interesting. Again it was a good service with a great message.

More Later...

This is my son-in-law, John, with my Farrel cat "Tom"

Image may contain: 1 person, shoes and outdoor

John is proving to me that the cat is tame...at least he is tame with John.

I watched a couple of 20/20s and  then after eating my lunch I went out to set that trash can up after putting that last black bag in it. I simply could not lift it. I went next door to Rose's and asked Ryan to set it up for me. He came right over and did that for me. He insisted on giving me his and his wife's cell number just in case I have an emergency sometime. I have good neighbors. I gave him mine too and he asked me again for my name so I gave that to him too.

More even later. I will go read my Kindle  book. I read until 4:45PM and then got my banana to eat for supper.

It's 5:00PM now and I want to watch 60 Minutes before the reality church service this evening. When that is over I will take my bath and get ready for bed at 9:00PM or so. I may read some more first. The later I read the better I sleep.
