Saturday and Flowers

I slept badly last night. I awoke at midnight and could not get back to sleep. Finally I got up at 3:00 AM and took some warm milk and a Melatonin but that did not help. Then it began to rain about 4:00 and I got back to sleep then and slept until 6:00 AM. What a mess!

At 7:00 I was dressed and went to the Lion's Club pancake breakfast but did not feel very energetic at all.

I took some photos of my flowers in front of the apartment  but am unable to access them on the camera for some reason. They did download on the laptop theough so I will attempt to post them here. I still have the large flowerbed to do but it is soaked right now from the rain so I will wait until it dries out.

Here is the front of the apartment. Before I moved in last year, this area was just blank.

More later....

Bob and I were so full from the pancakes that we didn't eat until 2:00 PM and then we went to Arby's for a roast beef sandwich. I didn't cook today.

I read most of the day. I didn't have much energy. I want to stay up until at least 9:00 this evening so I can sleep well tonight.

Friday Again

I slept like a log last night and didn't wake up even once! I admit I took two Aleve before bedtime. That probably helped a lot. I went to bed around 9:00. I was awfully tired. Missy slept through the night too. At least she didn't disturb me.

It's supposed to be sunny and 80 degrees today. I may even get my flowerbed planted. Or we may finish washing the windows here at the fourplex if it's not windy.  We are supposed to have rain tomorrow with a good chance of storms. And tomorrow it's supposed to be very windy. This is Kansas and anything is possible.

We will have exercise class today at 9:00. I had my beans soaking overnight and this morning I drained them and put clean water on them and have them cooking in the slow cooker with onions and salt. I will add the ham later..Then I will also fix some cornbread. We will have hot tea with it. If we have leftovers, and I'm sure we will, I may take some to Bobby and Karan. We will have them again ourselves on Monday. I only fixed a half a pound so I won't have a lot left after that. We will have pudding for dessert.

If and when I get my flowerbed planted, I will post a photo of it.

Tomorrow is the Lion's Club pancake breakfast. Bob is a Lion and will be working it and I will eat breakfast there.

Scott should be back in Hawaii by now. He left Savannah on Wednesday. I hope he calls today sometime.

Keith will be leaving for Italy soon. I think he leaves Monday. He will be gone 28 days.

I speak at church on Sunday. I think I am prepared.

More later...

I took some beans to Bobby and some to Bob for Monday. He is having a tooth extracted on Monday morning.

Then after lunch I went to the bank and arranged to open another  account in a different bank so I can eventually change my bank. Bank of America here and in Independence have been sold and  I wanted to use that opportunity to change banks to a local one. I called Social Security and Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Prudential and got the bank changed that they will be withdrawing from to the new bank and account.

Then I went out to the nursery and bought plants for the front of my apartment building and planted my flower boxes on the front of the apartment.  I still need to get plants for the large flower box on the east of the apartment. I will do that the next nice day when the wind is not blowing.

I crammed too much into this day. I am really tired this evening.

Thursday Lunch With Gay

I am meeting my friend, Gay, for lunch today in Cherryvale at 11:30. Tony is not coming so Bob will be on his own for lunch. .

I had a bad night's sleep again last night. My arms hurt and also my back and hip. It must just be the mileage now. I finally got up after 3:30 and took a melatonin with milk. The milk probably does as well as anything.  Milk has an ingredient in it that makes us sleepy.  I finally got back to sleep until 6:00. I hate to take a couple of Aleve unless I just have to.

Bob has gone to his Lions meeting this  morning. It also includes breakfast.  Saturday is the pancake breakfast they are sponsoring so we will not have our usual breakfast on Saturday.  I bought a ticket to the Lions Club breakfast.

Missy wanted out this morning so I let her out and moved a chair around  under the carport so I could sit and drink my coffee and watch her. When a neighbor started his car, she startled and wanted back in the apartment. So I came back in too.

If the wind would calm down I would get my flowerbed planted and my three smaller flower boxes too.  I hate to get out there and make my hair a mess and besides that also aggravate my allergies.

More later...

I had a good visit with Gay over lunch. While we were there, the rain began and it rained hard for about an hour.  We had to wait for the rain to let up to leave and run to our cars.

I came home and took a nap with Missy on my lap. Then I went over to Bob's and visited with him awhile. The paper came and I read it and did the crossword puzzle. Then I took it over to Bob. Now I am watching the news.

Wednesday Exercises Again

This has been a very busy day. First we had exercise class and then went to Utopia for coffee and cinnamon rolls.

After that I came home and washed my windows.  They aren't perfect but they look a lot better. The scum on the outsides is gone now. Later, on the first calm warm day, I will wash the rest of the apartment complex windows.  This Renz E Z stuff does a pretty good job considering we can't get the storm windows off to wash them on the insides.Yesterday afternoon Bob and I took the one off over my sink. It fell apart and we spent the next hour and a half trying to get it back together.  We finally got it reassembled. I had to tap the window all around the edge to get it back in the window cavity.  Then we put some of the screws back in and sighed a sigh of relief.

Then I fixed dinner. We had chicken tenders, mashed potatoes and gravy and  veggies. Bob brought cottage cheese and applesauce. Everything was good.

This  morning, I had called the landlady and told her answering machine that our grass was 8 inches tall and asked her if she could have it mowed again. The young man finally came this afternoon and mowed and trimmed and did a good job.

Richard, the Lutheran pastor, called to tell me they had chosen another person to be the secretary of their church. I lost out on that job. I imagine it was my age although I don't know that for sure. .

Bob came over this evening and had a glass of wine with me. Then, because he had seen this "Nature" program already, he left and went on home. I took my bath and put my pjs on to watch the rest of the show.

Tuesday Hair Day

Today I go to Independence to get my hair done. It really needs it. I just couldn't hassle it this week.

I slept pretty well until around 3:30 and I could never get back to sleep and finally about 4:00, I just got up. This will be a long day. I will see if Leslie can have lunch. If she can, Bob will be on his own for lunch. Otherwise, I will come home and cook lunch. I put some chicken down in the frig. l can thaw it in the microwave if she can't make lunch.

It's 51 degrees this morning at 5:20.  There is supposed to be abundant sunshine.

I let Missy out awhile ago. She wanted to eat some grass. Then she wandered off over across the way to Marilyn's carport. Finally I went to get her and picked her up to carry her back. She hates that. She does not like to be picked up! She growled at me all the way back.  But she's safely back in the house now.  There are foxes out there in the early morning. Bob sees them from time to time. My carport with the two cars in it keep me from seeing them so far.

These are some of the photos from the Easter Sunday egg hunt:

Here is the actual Easter egg hunt.

Lining them up for this photo afterwards.

 Still looking for more eggs:

My son-in-law after hiding the eggs.

This is Bob, Sue and John talking to Leeann after the hunt. There are a lot more but you get the idea. The kids had a great time. About 14 of them attended.

Monday Again

Well, it's Monday again and we will have exercise class again. I slept well last night. I awoke at 3:30 and went to the bathroom and took my thyroid pill. Then I got right back to sleep. I slept until nearly 5:00 and then got up and dressed and made my coffee and ate my cereal. I let Missy out briefly since she wanted to eat some grass and listen to the birds. Bob came out and spoke to her and she ran back to the door.

I took some photos at the Easter egg hunt yesterday morning. I will get them on the computer and upload them to the blog later.

I will fix the other half of that roast for lunch/dinner today.  The first half was not very good. I hope this is the better half. I will put some onion soup on it and chop up some fresh onions to add too. Then I will put a couple of potatoes in with it. I still have half of Bob's coleslaw from yesterday so we will have it and a veggie too. Maybe I will fix some pudding for dessert.

I would like to plant my flowerbed if it doesn't rain today. We were supposed to have had rain last night but it missed us. It's still in the forecast for today and tonight but we may miss that too. We really need the rain.

More later...

This evening it rained cats and dogs for about thirty minutes. Then it stopped. Missy wanted to go out afterward. She ate some grass. I guess she needed it or she wouldn't have eaten it. Then she came in.

After Bob left I took my bath and then watched some Antique Roadshow. The I turned over to watch "Jaws" on AMC. .

Easter Sunday

Its Easter Sunday and I am still trying to figure out this time-bake feature on the range Cyndi gave me.  I am afraid it is going to come on too soon and not go off until I have it programmed to go off...in which case the ham will be ruined. I may take my own car to church and run home to check it out. I have my daughter and son-in-law coming besides my brother-in-law. I sure want that ham to be just fine.

I awoke at 3:00 this morning and was aching all over and having trouble getting back to sleep so I got up and drank a glass of milk with an Aleve. That helped and I slept until 6:00. That Aleve really works for me.  I just don't use it a lot. Like all medications, it has lots of side effects.

More later....

Our dinner was very good. Unfortunately, the oven didn't start up on time bake.   So I manually started it and we heated up the fully cooked ham.  We had the potato salad I fixed yesterday. and Bob brought coleslaw and deviled eggs. Leslie brought vanilla ice cream to go with her apple cobbler. Everything was good and I had enough to send some home with John and Leslie as well as Bob A. Then I took some over to Bobby too.  Karan is on a diet and Bobby doesn't mind eating our leftovers . That's helpful when I make too much food.

I finally got my letters done for this Sunday. I will put them out on the mailbox tomorrow for the mailman to pick up.

It's been a busy day. I got a short nap this afternoon. Bob came over this evening and ate a bowl of ice cream with me and then we watched some of the reruns of 60 Minutes and The Big Bang Theory.  We saved the wine for tomorrow. Bob went home about 8:00. . .
