I finished yesterday's blog this morning. I had no opportunity to do it yesterday after work and with all the phone calls and being so tired, I just couldn't get it done.
I awoke at 1:00 after hearing the doorbell ring. At least I thought I heard the doorbell ring. I went to the door and of course, no one was there. I had evidently dreamed it. Then I had this meeting to plan the Birthday Bash on my mind and could not get back to sleep. So about 3:00 AM, I just got up and printed off the invitations to the meeting and the envelopes to put them in. Now they are all ready to go as soon as I buy some stamps.
Bob and I will go to breakfast at Eggberts this morning even though it is 27 degrees out there. Later, about 9:00, I will drive up to Chanute to visit with Gay, visit a new gift shop there, and have lunch with her. It's 50 miles away. It's cold but still it should be a nice day and Saturday is the only day I have now to visit with my friends. Gay and I have been friends since she was 14 and I was 17.
I bought a new Christmas tree a couple of weeks ago and I had put all my tree decorations in the church's rummage sale so I am going to be looking for some new decorations for my new tree. I want some colorful balls for it and some garlands but I also want to find some glass icicles. I found some at Hobby Lobby but they were a little larger then the ones I used to have and my tree is small. So I am going to look for some. I may stop at Neodesha on my way home. They have a couple of nice gift shops there too. I didn't have a Christmas tree last year except for the ceramic one my sister, Phyllis, had given me years ago and it just didn't seem like Christmas here at the apartment without one. Plus, I always have to try to discourage Missy from taking the ornaments off it. I'm sure I'll have that to do again this year. The Christmas tree with all it's glittering ornaments just fascinates her.
If I remember, I will take some photos today. The camera Scott gave me is small and I keep it in my purse all the time.
More later....
I forgot to take photos. Anyhow, Gay and I had a great visit and I found some tree decorations I like. I got home about 3:30. Bob came over about 4:00 and brought me a bottle of foaming hand soap. He had gone to Bartlesville while I was gone. He bought some new clothes and the soaps.
He will be back this evening and have our wine and some cookies.
We are under a weather advisory from 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM tomorrow.

Friday At Last
I am so glad this is Friday. I will go to exercise class this morning and then come home and warm up some meatloaf for lunch. I will fry some more potatoes and zap a veggie. Bob will bring salad again. (actually coleslaw) I will make pudding for dessert and now we have cookies too.
I was going to go to Chanute tomorrow and meet Gay for lunch and go through their new gift shop but we have possible snow flurries in the forecast. I don't know if I want to go and take a chance on it or not. I will wait and see what actually happens in the morning. It is 20 degrees again this morning.
More later....
I got home from exercise class and peeled some potatoes but didn't see Missy anywhere. I looked in the den and in my bedroom for her on that pillow but just saw this lump under my coverlet.

I lifted up the coverlet and this is what I found..
Peek a Boo, Missy!
More later.....right now I need to start lunch.
That warmed up lunch was fine. Then I went on to work and spent the afternoon putting away DVDs. First we put them in a storage case that holds dozens and then we file the empty DVD case in the bookcases where they are stored. Then when the patron comes in and picks up the empty case, we retrieve the DVD and check it out to them.
I did that all afternoon. We were swamped. People were afraid we were going to get a snowy weekend and they wanted DVDs to watch and they also wanted their children to have DVDs to watch. Personally, I think it's kind of tragic that folks don't seem to read to their children anymore. They just set them in front of the TV and let them watch DVDs all weekend. Some people checked out multiple DVDs for their children. And they are due back on Monday.
Later Bob came over and we watched the news and some old Big Bang Theory shows. While he was here, Larry, from my high school class, called and we discussed having a meeting to plan the "80th Birthday Bash" for my class of 1953. We should be having our 80th birthdays in 2015. Neither of us are enthusiastic about it but 40 classmates and their significant others, spouses and friends are interested and that adds up to a total of 60 so I guess we will see how much enthusiasm there is to actually work on the event. I am sending out 15 letters inviting participation in the planning. Two years ago, I ended up doing most of the work for the 60th reunion of my class. I swore that was it! But one of my classmates is interested in having such an event (she lives in a town 15 miles away so it's easy for her to say) and evidently 58 others are too. So we will see.
Later I took my bath and went to bed at 9:00. I was really tired.

Thursday and Another Work Day
I slept well last night and only awoke a couple of times. I did get right back to sleep. I received an e-mail from Scott's friend, Ginger, this morning with her itinerary for her flight back here in December. She will come in on December 15th and Scott will drive to Tulsa to pick her up at the airport. They will stay a few days here before beginning their trip back to Savannah. Scott will stay with her while he looks for a job. I am anxious to meet her as well as to see Scott again. Everything I've heard about her has been good.
It is 20 degrees this morning. Brrrr.
I ordered some more Keurig coffees yesterday. I still have plenty but I am out of some of my favorites....like the "mudslide". They should arrive sometime next week. And by then I will have used even more of them. I am anxious to share them with Scott, who is a real coffee drinker......like his dad. Keith and Leslie don't drink coffee.
We are having meat loaf today for lunch. I will fry some potatoes to go with it. Bob has salad left and we will use it. Then I will fix a veggie of some sort. I have two fruit desserts left from yesterday. We will finish those off too. If I can get around to it this morning, I will make some cookies to go with the fruit.
Missy has disappeared this morning. She is probably in on the daybed or under the coverlet on my bed. She may be on that miracle foam pillow on the cedar chest. I will go check her out.
Here she is on the daybed among the stuffed animals and pillows.
More later....
I made snicker-doodle cookies before lunch. Then I went to work after lunch.
I spent the afternoon shelf reading. That was preferable to cutting out recipes. It went pretty fast and I got a lot done. Katie was off today so I dealt with Elaine. All the folks there are nice. Katie came in before I left and told me I could park behind the library and go in the back door.
I got home very exhausted and really just wanted to take a bath and put my pjs on. Bob came over about 6:00 and we had wine and a cookie watched TV until 7:30. When he went home I took my bath, put my pjs on and sat in the recliner with Missy in my lap. I tried to watch TV but fell asleep in the chair. When I woke up it was 9:00 and Missy and I went to bed.

Wednesday and Work
Today is to be my first day of work at the library. I will report on it later.
First I will go to exercise class. After that, I will fix lunch for Bob and me. He will be moving on the 22nd. But he will only be about three blocks away.
I didn't sleep all that well last night. I awoke two or three times. My right leg ached. I finally got up and took a couple of Aleve and that helped a bunch. I finally got up shortly before 5:00. I fixed myself a couple of cups of coffee with my Keurig and toasted a buttered biscuit. That's all I ever want for breakfast.
It is very cold this morning. It is 21 degrees right now. I am not looking forward to winter. Last year my electric bill was horrendous. I turn it down to 65 at night and will turn it down when I leave for work. No sense heating an empty house.....empty.. except for Missy...who has a fur coat.
More later.....
My son, Scott, called me a little while ago to just chat. In the midst of the chat he told me he intends to buy a new flat screen TV for me when he comes next month. This is to be my birthday/Christmas gift. He will also buy a cabinet to put it on. He says that gift is not optional. So I didn't try to argue with him. I will be delighted to get this old TV out of here now that it no longer works. It only works at all because Cox brought in a DVR box and the box receives the TV signal. It will be so good to see him again! His girlfriend, Ginger, is flying in to meet me and to accompany him back to Georgia. That will also be good. She seems to be a very nice person and he is very taken with her. I am anxious to meet her.
I worked this afternoon and it was alright. Mostly I did shelf reading which is done to be sure the books were where they should be. Some patrons take a book out to check it out and then put it back in the wrong place. Also, the library is having a soup sale next weekend and they are selling a cookbook there, so Katie had me cutting out the recipes for the books. That was a kind of tedious job but I imagine they will be having me do more interesting things later on. Katie sent in (by fax) my time sheet. It only had five hours on it this time but five hours is five hours.
After I got home, I ate some yogurt and later Bob came over to watch the news and a couple of episodes of The Big Bang Theory. They were reruns so I quickly bored with them. After he left I took my bath and Missy and I watched Nature and Nova. Halfway through Nova, I gave up and we went to bed.

Tuesday Veterans Day
I will go to Independence this morning at 8:30 to get my hair done. After that, I will come home to make that chicken casserole for lunch. I will finish my cleaning after lunch. It is very cold this morning...32 degrees the last time I looked.
I slept very well. I awoke several times but was always able to get back to sleep.
Today I dug one of my sweaters out of the cedar chest. It's sweater weather this morning. I turned the furnace up to 70 after I got out of bed.
Missy wants to go out this morning. I daresay she will want right back in when she learns how cold it is out there. I will finish my coffee and then go out with her.
More later....
She didn't want to go out when she stuck her nose out there and it was so cold.
I got my hair done this morning and it really needed it. Then I came home and read for awhile before starting our lunch. We had that creamed chicken and biscuit casserole. It was alright. Next time I serve it, I will serve it over rice.
Bob came over later in the evening and we watched some old Big Bang Theory. After he left I took my bath and watched that show that traces folks' lineage. Then we went to bed. I was very tired.

Monday and the Job Paperwork
I go in today at 9:00 to meet with Katie and Aime to sign the paperwork for the new job. I have always been a big reader so I anticipate liking the library job. I already know one of the library employees. His name is Adrian. He has always been very helpful when I have gone in there for something. I used to go to the library a lot before the kids gave me the Kindle. The Independence library has the lending program for Kindle but our library just uses the Nook app. So I am still buying mostly cheap books although in order to read Ehrman's books I have to buy them for Kindle and they are not cheap.
I slept well again last night and so did Missy. As usual she slept on my legs and feet.
I am anticipating the big freeze coming later this week. I dread the electric bill though. Last year it just about broke my budget.
We will finish up the chili this noon. I still have enough for a second meal and perhaps enough to share with Bobby too.
More later.....
We finished off the chili and then spent the afternoon raking and bagging leaves.
Bob came over to watch the news with me and we had our wine.
He left at 7:00 and I took my bath and watched TV until I started falling asleep. I went to bed at 8:30.

Sunday and Church
I had a great night's sleep last night. I awoke about 4:15 and went to the bathroom and then went right back to sleep until shortly after 5:00 AM. I got up then and got myself ready for church. Missy waits patiently for her treats and fresh food. But then when I start up the hall, she is impatient to get to the frig. :)
I warmed up my last biscuit this morning for breakfast. Then fixed myself a cup of coffee with my Keurig. Now I am on my second one...mudslide. I love the variety. Here's my Keurig and coffee selection.
I will take my Samaritan "Christmas Child" boxes to church this morning and get them out of my dining/kitchen area. Two of these are for Mike and Laura. Laura gave me money to do theirs and since I have a lot more time then they do, I wrapped and filled two boxes for them. I didn't use all the money Laura gave me so I will send some change back to her. Laura works at the County Courthouse in Independence and this is property tax time of year so it may be awhile until we see her again. And Mike too. He works at the Atomic energy plant in Burlington and lives there the weeks he works there. He's on three weeks and off three weeks.
In two weeks, Bob will be moving three blocks away. His new apartment is smaller but it's all he needs and it's a lot cheaper rent.
We are seeing a video at church today. It's called "58" from the 58th chapter of Isaiah in the Bible. It's supposed to be on world hunger. Bill has seen it at the Baptist Church his wife attends. He was impressed and he's not easily impressed.
After church we will all eat out together. Then I will come home and do the congregational newsletters and get them ready for tomorrow's mail. Also tomorrow I go to the library at 9:00 AM to meet with Katie and Aime to sign paperwork for my new job.
More later....
Bob came over for a glass of wine and we watched the news together. He went home at 7:00 and I took my bath and put my pjs on. The water pressure was way down and I was afraid there was a water break and called both Bob and Marilyn to alert them. I didn't trouble Jeannie. I read until 9:00 and then Missy and I went to bed.
