I got up shortly before 5:00 and got myself ready for the day. I fed Missy and then I picked Bob up at 6:50 and we went to breakfast at Eggberts. After I left him at his apartment I came on home to find Missy in my chair. I don't know what the draw is to my chair. I always have to get cat hair off of it when she finally gets down. Sometimes when the sun streams in the back door, she will lay in the sunshine on the dining room carpet. But generally she prefers my chair.
Here she is so you can see what I mean.
More later...
I watered all the flowers and the tomato plant. I hope I get some tomatoes from that plant. It has blooms on it and three small tomatoes. But it's taking forever. I'll show you what I mean.
This is a "Better Boy" tomato plant. I hope it does well. I love home grown tomatoes.
More later...
Well, we had lunch and it was fine. I sent some food home with Bob and kept a sloppy joe for myself. I may eat it if I get hungry later on. We had the strawberry short cake for dessert. I bought strawberries and short cake when I went to Country Mart this morning.
The mailman has come and I want to check if I got any mail. So, I'll be back later...
I didn't get any mail so I laid down on the sofa to watch some TV and rest and fell asleep. I don't know how long I slept. I must have been really tired though. I seldom ever nap. I am always fearful that it will disturb my night's sleep later.
Bob didn't come over tonight. There was no news for awhile...until after the Preakness ran anyhow.
I watched TV with Missy on the sofa after I had my bath and fell asleep again. Finally I just went on to bed. Soon Missy followed me.

Friday and Lunch Out
I slept well again last night. Maybe that is going to be the norm now.
I will pick up Bob for exercise class this morning and later we will eat out at Sirloin Stockade. First I will need to go get some cash from the ATM. My son, Keith, and his wife, Esther, sent me a donation this morning...thank goodness!
My social security is very late this month. I was almost out of cash. I used what I had hung on to from May and put it with the donation from my other son, Scott, and his wife, Ginger, and paid my rent. This is a photo of him.
My daughter and her husband, John, do a lot of neat things for me too. She is very busy in her job and with her two granddaughters. She is also one of the pastors at our church.
It is really hard to make my budget when my income comes in so late. When this happens, I often just have to transfer something from my savings. Now that I have the car paid off, I will try to get all that I have borrowed from that back into the savings account. Next month I want to pay off the hearing aid. Then I will be debt free.
I have watered all my flowers already this morning and will think about making an extension to my new flowerbed. There is an area just north of it that just breeds weeds. I may put some Miracle Grow in there and plant some flowers or maybe some succulents....perhaps hen and chicks.
I will try to get another photo of the new flowerbed after I finished it up yesterday afternoon. I may have to download it on the laptop again. The desktop computer just downloads a black blank photo.
More later....
What do you know! I was able to download it to my desktop computer. Anyhow, here it is completed. Of course, it will fill out as the plants grow.
Exercise class went well. I always enjoy visiting with a new found friend named Coleen. I like everyone who attends there. They are all compatible.
This afternoon, I want to get some succulents to plant in one more unsightly space. I prepared it early this morning but need to get to the florist to pick out the succulents. I already have the Miracle Grow.
And here is the hen and chicks I just planted, This is just a weedy area so I put some Miracle Grow in there and planted those hen and chicks. The challenge will be in the fall when a ton of leaves fall and there's no keeping the flower beds cleaned out.
So more later...
I picked up Bob for lunch and he insisted he was going to buy my lunch because I usually cook for the two of us. So, I let him. That was very nice of him. It was a good lunch too. He will be back this evening to watch Brooks and Shields. On Friday evenings on PBS they analyze the week's news.
More later...
I got quite a bit done this evening and Bob did come back to read the paper and watch Brooks and Shields.
When he left I took my bath and laid down with Missy on the sofa. I tried to watch TV but fell asleep once. I did stay up to watch "Beyond Reasonable Doubt". I just couldn't watch it all. I finally just went to bed shortly before 10:00...late for me.

Thursday and Just Lunch
I slept well again last night. I got up shortly before 5:00. I dressed and got myself ready for the day. I fed myself and Missy.
For some reason, ever since Missy saw those foxes on Tuesday, she has been hesitant to go outside. She steps out very hesitantly and then wants right back in. She will go out on the patio though...if it's not too hot. Maybe she doesn't smell them over there on the east side of the apartment.
I want to get the dining room vacuumed this morning and also mop the kitchen again. That's about all I have planned. Until I get my social security on the 14th, I am watching my money very carefully. In fact, I put the flowers and border blocks I bought today on my Amazon card.
I watched some of the Comey testimony this morning too. Then I started lunch and missed the rest.
We will have sloppy joes for lunch. I will also fix french fries. I think I also have some pudding and I know I have sugar cookies for dessert. We will have peach tea to drink.
More later....Lunch was fine and Bob took one sloppy Joe home with him. He also brought Mexican Coca Cola for our lunch. It is made with sugar and not high fructose corn syrup. He can get it at Walmart. Mexico and Canada do not allow the use of high fructose corn syrup in their sodas. The body cannot process it and that sweetness pours directly into the bloodstream. No wonder we are all so fat anymore and many have diabetes.
Also, being a simple sugar, fructose isn't able to suppress the areas of the brain that control appetite. A study conducted at the University of Southern California found fructose left people feeling hungry, even after eating, WebMD reports. Fructose releases less insulin than glucose, another type of sugar, thereby motivating people to continue eating. Alternatively, glucose curtails hunger, as the activity in the hypothalamus is slowed.. Enough science lesson....
I made a little flowerbed next to the faucet in the backyard this morning. I also filled the other flowerbed that I took the lavender out of too but for some reason, that photo I took didn't download. Neither photo would download on the desktop computer for some strange reason. I had to download them on my laptop. I will need to get some more annuals for the border of this one but not in the heat of the day.
I even had to take this second one off the memory stick on the laptop computer. For some reason it didn't download into my pictures on the drive. Weird!
Anyhow, here it is now. The perennials are daisies and balloon flowers. The border flowers have been there all spring. They are pansies.
I've cooled down some now and I want to get the dining room vacuumed....so...more later...
Well, I never did get the dining room vacuumed but I did go back over to Orchelen's and bought another bag of Miracle Grow and then to the florist again to buy some more flowers and then came home to plant them in the heat of the day. The small new flowerbed looks a lot better now. Maybe tomorrow I can take another photo of that one.
I read the paper about 4:10 and then Bob came over at 5:00 o read it as well and stayed to watch the CBS news. When he left, I took my bath and put my PJs on so I can watch TV with Missy...if there's anything on. I watched quite a bit of the Comey testimony today.
I will go to bed about 9:00 this evening. I got up at 4:45 this morning and did a lot of lifting of bags of two bags of Miracle Grow and seven border stones and planting of flowers. ...some in the heat of the day. I am tired.

Wednesday and Exercises Again and Bunco
I slept really well last night. That Zyrtec really dries me up and keeps me from waking up or staying awake. I only take one at bedtime and it works for 24 hours. I get the generic because it's cheaper and works the same way.
I got up about 6:00 and got myself ready for the day. I've fed Missy and myself, got my makeup on and weeded the flowerbeds and watered the tomato plant and flowers.
Bob will pick me up at 8:40 for exercises and later we will eat the leftover tuna casserole and his salad. I have fruit and cookies for dessert. Then I will go to play Bunco at 1:00 at the senior center and take some of those cookies as my dessert.
The only thing I forgot to buy at Walmart yesterday afternoon was my potatoes so I will go back to Country Mart later and get those. I also need to drop by Braums and buy milk. I am nearly out. Tomorrow we will have sloppy joes and french fries for lunch.
I haven't heard from Scott in awhile. Keith called last weekend. Leslie and John will be back from their fishing trip today. They left after church on Sunday to go to Roaring River to fish. They took their camper and their little granddaughters with them this time. She sent me a photo on my phone of the little girls having a great time. I would post it here but my phone is not a smart phone and it doesn't have that capability.
More later....
Lunch was fine and afterward I went to play Bunco while Bob stayed here and did a couple of loads of laundry. When he left he locked up my apartment.
When I got home and read the paper and did the crossword puzzle and then Bob came and read the paper and stayed for the news. After he left I turned on channel 11 to watch "Nature" with Missy and wouldn't you know...they preempted it for some music show.
I took my bath and came in here to play some games on the computer. It's 8:00 now and I will take my Zyrtec and go to bed at 9:00. I did put the drops in my eyes after my bath. I think the redness is just my allergies. The redness has not gone away and I have been using the drops since Friday. That was a $39. 00 experiment.

Tuesday and Hairdo Day
Today Bob and I will go to Independence to get my hair done. Afterward we will go out to Walmart there in Independence and get my few groceries and then go eat at Big Cheese at 11:00. When I get home I will vacuum the apartment...at least two rooms. I can do the other two on Thursday. I will need to bake cookies this afternoon for Bunco tomorrow afternoon at the senior center.
I slept well last night. Did not wake up in the night at all.
I changed the clothing in my closets this morning. I put the fall and winter clothes in the bedroom closet and the spring and summer things in the den closet. I took down the card table and put it away. It wasn't big enough to accommodate the puzzle I was going to do.
In about an hour, I will pick up Bob for our trip to Independence.
I went out this morning just after dawn and saw three little foxes out by the culvert in my front yard. I came back in quietly to get my camera but they ran into the culvert before I could snap their photos. Darn! I stood out there and watched them for fifteen or twenty minutes. They look to be fairly young...not full grown.
Well, I got the apartment cleaned...all but the dining room. I will do that on Thursday or perhaps even tomorrow before Bunco at the senior center. We will have our leftover tuna noodle casserole tomorrow with Bob's salad. It has peas in it so that is our veggie. I will have the rest of the fruit for dessert.
More later...
We went to Independence and I had my hair done then we went to Walmart and bought a few groceries. I will go to ours shortly. It has some items the Independence store doesn't have.
After Walmart we went to Goody's. Bob found some nice shoes and got a great sale on them. The store clerk gave him two discounts on them and they came out to $25.00 and change. I bought a new purse and a navy T-shirt. Both were on sale and my bill was $25.00 and change too.
Then we came home. I dropped him off at his apartment and I got my mail. I got the cleaner I ordered in the mail and it looks like it might damage everything I wanted to clean with it. I may just send it back. I will wait and see. I wanted to clean the bathtub, stool and the kitchen sink with it.
I did get the cookies baked. I had a couple of them and they're not bad for drop sugar cookies. I put some pecans in them and that helped. Missy wanted to go out and I took her out but it was too hot for her. She came right back in after a few minutes. Poor cat! She likes fall and spring but winter and summer are just too much for her at her age.
If I am going to get out to Walmart, I'd better go. It's already 2:00. So more later..
I got my groceries and came back home and put them away. Bob came in at 5:00 to read the paper and watch the news. He left at 6:30 or so and I took my bath soon after and read the new "Connections" blog. I printed it off for Bob.
About 9:00 I decided to take my allergy med and go to bed. First I wanted to finish this.

Monday and Exercises
I got up at almost 5:00 and got myself ready for the day. I put the drops in my eyes again and dressed while they were being absorbed. Now I can put my contacts in. It's been nearly 45 minutes.
I will go to exercise class this morning and afterward will fix lunch. I plan a tuna noodle casserole. I will have a veggie and Bob will bring a salad. I will need to run to the Dollar General store when they open in fifteen minutes or over to Country Mart. I need an onion and a can of cream of celery soup for my casserole at lunch.
I want to strip my bed and do some laundry too. It's been a few days and I will be home most of the day. I also want to call Hassleman's in Independence...or go up there.... and send flowers to the funeral home for Cyndi's mother's services. They are private and she will be taken to Paola for the actual services so none of us will be going.
More later...I'd better get my "eyes" in and my face made up or I will scare everyone at exercise class.
I have the flowers dead headed and my face and "eyes" on. I have taken Missy out for awhile while I did that. That above the ground flowerbed is in full bloom now and very full. I really need to get some more perennials in the other bed. It looks very bare.
I also need to wash the bathroom and kitchen floors before I leave. That's a Monday job. Tomorrow I will be gone most of the morning. My hair appointment is at 9:00 and I will kill some time until Big Cheese opens at 11:00. I assume Bob is going with me. If not, I will need to get back home and get lunch going. Tuesday afternoon I will vacuum the two rooms Missy is not in. Wednesday I will go to exercise class again and after lunch, go to Bunco at the senior center. So vacuuming the other two rooms will have to wait until Thursday. That's my regular vacuuming day anyhow.
I have both floors washed now and am waiting for the dryer to finish to re-make the bed. Then it will probably be time to pick up Bob for exercise class. I went to the Dollar General Store and Also Country Mart and got nearly everything I needed between the two.
Before I picked up Bob for exercise class, I also re-made the bed.
We had our casserole for lunch and had enough left over for Wednesday and also took some to Marilyn. Bob brought coleslaw. That was good.
I took Missy out for a little while after lunch but it really is too hot for her to be outside. She didn't stay long.
I have three small tomatoes on my tomato plant. Bob noticed them. They will have to grow awhile before we can use them though.
I moved the end table in the den to beside the daybed and put the small computer under the window. Perhaps that will keep Missy from walking on the computer. I don't think that's good for it.
More later...
I went over to the Arvest Bank in Caney after lunch and paid off my car. Now all I owe is my hearing aid and I only owe $350. on it. It will be paid off in another month. I will put my former car payment money of $200. on it along with my regular payment of $100. That should do it.
I worked on the puzzle Marilyn R. gave me but it was too large and too hard. I didn't have enough card table to lay out all the pieces. I took my bath and laid down with Missy for awhile and watched TV but even that bored me after awhile. Finally I just played a game on my computer. Missy and I will go go to bed about 9:00. I will put the drops in my eyes again then, take my Zyrtec and go to bed.

Sunday and Church...and a Fox
I got up after 5:00 and got myself ready for church and fed Missy and ate my own breakfast. When I went out to got the papers, I took Russell's over and put it on their mailbox...as usual...and then I noticed a large fox on the road outside my apartment. I quietly went back in to get my camera and just then Twitch, my neighbor's dog saw the fox and barked. It ran quickly back to Merrill's house and into the brush back of his house. I was so disappointed. I just about had a photo of that fox. Wayne, my former landlord, told me there were three kits in that brush back there as well as the mother. Darn! I almost had that photo! Here is one I found online.
I will go to church this morning. Bob is driving this week. I teach the adult class. It is mostly a discussion of a book the class is reading called. "Saving Jesus...from the Church". It is quite good and we have a lively discussion about the topic. It gives no answers...just presents information and asks questions. It makes us actually think!
After church, we will go over to Cherryvale to "Just Us" for lunch. Afterward, I will do my congregational newsletters. Those go out to the entire congregation and are actually meant for those who do not attend that Sunday so they don't miss out on the announcements but everyone gets it. Those without e-mail get it in snail mail.
More later.....
Karan had an excellent sermon at church today. I took some photos of her worship setting. It was full of candles. She also had a small fountain going but I didn't get the photo of it. She had the communion emblems setting there on the right where there is just space now. It was lovely.
The second photos shows the peace candle too at the left and Karan is in the pulpit .
I am presiding next week and have been working on the bulletin and it is now finished. I have also downloaded Mahjong on both computers...something else to waste time on.
I had better take Missy outside. She has been cooped up in the apartment all day. More later...
I did take Missy out for awhile and then we laid down on the sofa and rested. I watched 60 Minutes until it was time to leave to pick up Gary for Living the Questions group meeting at Karan's. It was a lively discussion but the majority of us decided the new DVD was just too "historical"....not enough theology.
Next time on the 25th, it will be at my apartment and John and Wendy, the new couple have not seen the Living the Questions DVD. It is one of the best. Both Howard and Judy will be gone for three weeks so we will instead watch the Living the Questions DVD again...at least for that one episode.
I got home after 9:00 and took my bath and watched TV until 10:30...an unheard of development for me. I had a hard time getting the TV to turn off or even to change channels. The remote may be low on power. Lord only knows I use it enough. It may need batteries. When I finally got it turned off, Missy and I went on to bed.
