Saturday and a Possible Visit

I was up at my usual 5:00AM but I did sleep very well last night and was not up even one time in the night. Strangely enough, I went to bed around 8:30PM..very early for me but for some reason, I was very tired.

I had gone to the market yesterday afternoon and bought chicken tenders, okra, and green beans for my supper with a biscuit and ate half of that. It was very good. I will warm up the other half for my dinner today. It cost me $8.20 but I will get two meals out of it. They started a new policy too. They gave me a coupon that they will punch every time I get a meal there and after I get 10 meals, I will get a free one. That's a pretty good deal. I usually get a meal from their deli once a week.

I am eating my breakfast now and drinking my coffee.

I am thinking of going over to Coffeyville and visiting Phyllis Fredensborg at "Home in Sight" at Windsor Place there. Later today between 2:00PM and 4:00PM might be visiting hours. I will check with them. She is getting to come home on Thursday. She fell in her garage several weeks ago and none of us knew anything about it. She is a very private person and always has been. Her daughter, Michele, texted me about it yesterday or I wouldn't have known anything about it either. Sherry, our tour guide, told me in e mail that Phyllis had cancelled going on the mystery tour on the 30th and I just figured she had to work. But when Michele texted me, I was shocked to find she had fallen in her garage and broken her hip and had had surgery and was out at "Home in Sight" at Windsor in Coffeyville for her rehabilitation. It was a shock.

It is 6:12AM right now and I will go watch "The weather on the 8's" and check on the cats now.

We are supposed to get  rain Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week. Our mystery tour is Thursday. I wonder how that will affect the tour.

Both cats came for breakfast this morning  and they acted like they were starved. They have either been fed somewhere else or have been eating birds. Well, they are eating here right now...both of them.

It's only 7:45AM but it's very nice and cool. I believe I will mow my leaves today..later...after it's later...maybe at  9:00AM.

So more even later... I went out at 9:00AM and mowed the front yard...leaves and all. Then I emptied the bag and drank a bottle of water. It's still only 9:46AM but I am very tired. After I got the front mowed, I went around with a plastic bag and bent over and picked up what the mower left. I think I will leave the west side until last and mow the back first when I rest up.I will wait until 10:00AM to do the back. In the meantime, I will drink some more water and rest awhile.

But it's very good exercise and it's still only 64 degrees so this is the time to do it.

May be an image of tree and grass

Here is the front that I got mowed.

By the way, I called "Home in Sight" this morning and they are going to check if I can visit Phyllis this afternoon since I am fully vaccinated. They are to call me when they get an answer.

More later...It's nearly time to start on the back yard. 10:00AM.

I got the back mowed in 30 Minutes and then stopped for a rest and water. The realtor came to show the duplex and  Brandon, next door either was not home or was still in bed. So I offered to show them my side. It's the same only flipped over from Brandon's side. They looked mine over. They live in Owasso but she works in South Coffeyville and he works in Coffeyville so Caney would work for both of them. They called Suzanne to come talk to them so they may be interested in buying or even renting the duplex. She is here now. They would be nice neighbors. If Suzanne sells it, I hope they buy it.

The temperature is now in the 70's and I started the west side anyhow but only got about a fourth of it done before I needed water and rest again. I will finish it after I get some water and some rest. 73 degrees is still not too hot for me to mow. After I finish I will have the rest of my dinner from yesterday. Those chicken tenders and okra and green beans with a biscuit were pretty good!

I still haven't heard anything from "Home in Sight". They may not let me visit  Phyllis because of the pandemic. I told them I was fully vaccinated and had proof of it. But that is a nursing home and they have to be very careful.

Well,I'd better get back to the mowing if I am going to get it finished before it gets hotter.

I got the west side mowed too. It took me a couple of tries.I had to stop 2/3 of the way through and drink some water and rest awhile. But...I got it done myself! I didn't have to pay anyone to mow for me. And it looks pretty good too considering it's almost burned up.

I ate the rest of my chicken tenders and okra and green beans for my lunch. Afterward I went out to Sonic and bought a cherry limeade slush.

I have the book I am reading on my Kindle to read this afternoon. I had to charge my Kindle again last night. It seems every couple of days I have to charge it.

I have Alexa play Kenny Rogers music while I read. He died last year and I really like his music even though it's country music. He had a smooth voice. And a lot of the time he sang with Dolly Parton. There was a special on last night honoring him, When he retired last year, they taped that and played it again last night and I watched it. In fact I taped it myself. It was such a good show. I am going to keep it in case I want to watch it again.

I went over to Nancy's at 4:30PM and finally found her up. I stayed until 6:00PM. Her caregiver came at  at 5:30PM and the little boys from next door came soon afterward. I finally left at 6:00PM. She had more then enough company.

Nothing is on TV except football and baseball games. I am not interested. I will read and have a banana later.

I never did hear from Windsor about visiting Phyllis at "Home in Sight". I assume they don't want visitors in the nursing home. But they could have called me and told me that.

I got an awful lot done today with all the mowing.

It's 6:15PM now and at 7:00PM I will take my bath. In the meantime I will read. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM

Friday and Dusting

I slept well last night and was only up once. Then I was able to get right back to sleep. I was up at 5:00AM, as usual. I am dressed and having my breakfast now.

I plan to dust the apartment today and then go to the market and see what they will have for lunch in their deli. I will read my book some more too. I am 2/3 of the way through it.

I may go visit Phyllis tomorrow afternoon if she is up to having company. I will call first and check.

I want to go check the weather forecast and on the cats too. I am finished with my breakfast and am working on my coffee.

So, more later...

No cats showed up for breakfast this morning. Of course I was reading and they could have just given up but I did check on them a couple of times and "no cats".

It looks like rain is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday and we are having our  "Mystery Tour" on Thursday. Maybe it won't rain where we are going.

I read for an hour and a half and then went out back and picked up leaves  for twenty minutes and watered the back flowerbed..

Now I should water the front flowerbed. So more later...

I got the front flowerbed watered too.

And then I printed off the poster I had taken a photo of at the senior center. I blew it up big enough to read. I ran out of ink in my ink cartridge but I did get the poster printed off. I took it over to Nancy's with the book I have been reading. It was Bob Woodward's latest book, "Peril". I called her and then I rang the doorbell several times but she must have been napping because she never came to the door so I took the book over to Rudy. He wanted to read it too.

I drove up to Independence to get another ink cartridge and stopped at the Dairy Queen while I was there and had a blizzard. I stopped at the nursery and looked at their mums for fall flowers. They had some nice ones for $12.95 but I didn't buy any. I still have tall marigolds blooming out there in the back and cockscomb in the mailbox flowerbed still blooming. I even thought about taking down the hanging basket hook in the front and planting mums in there but I don't have a shovel to dig it out with so I just gave it up.

Then I came on back home. I got the dusting done today too and polished everything. I even vacuumed the upholstered chairs. It had been awhile since I did that.

I will go back to the book I started on my Kindle.

So more later...

I read a couple of hours on the book on my Kindle and then took my bath at nearly 7:00PM. Got my bed ready for sleep and will probably go to bed about 9:00PM as usual.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept better last night and when I did wake up, I was able to get right back to sleep. I was up at 5:00AM as usual. I have had my breakfast and am working on my coffee right now. It's 5:46AM now. I am dressed and ready for the day. After I watch "the weather on the 8's", I will watch the news and start cleaning as the commercials come on. I always mop the vinyl floors first and then start my vacuuming. I will dust later on this afternoon.

It's still dark out now so I can't tell whether I will have more leaves to rake later on in the morning. I do want to get back to my book. It is going to be a classic. It is called "Peril" and that's what the Trump administration was. Bob Woodward was the Washington Post reporter who helped expose Watergate during the Nixon Administration. He worked with Robert Costa on this book. They co-wrote it. So far it has been hard to put down. I am about a third of the way through it.

I want to check the weather and the cat situation now and will get back to this later.

The weather is to be cool for a few days before it goes back to summer like weather.

Both cats came to eat and both cats ate and left. I watered all the plants. They are still struggling to bloom. I would like to pull them up and plant mums  there. They would come back each year.

I did pick up a couple of dozen leaves from the back yard. I put that bag full in the trash. I think I will wait to rake the front yard until all the leaves have fallen and then I can rake them into piles and vacuum them up with my leaf vacuum....for once and for all this year.

My TV started tearing again this morning and I called Cox and told them. They gave the signal a jolt and that cleared it up. I never had this problem when I lived in Coffeyville and I see a lot of Cox trucks around Caney so I think we just get a weak signal.

It's 8:20AM now and I guess I will go watch the CBS news. I don't like to watch the Local Tulsa news so I have been watching ABC's "Good Morning America" where I can get some national news. Soon I will go back to my book.

So,more later...

I took this for Nancy:

May be an image of 1 person

I have it on my phone. I hope to see her this afternoon and show it to her. It was at the senior center on their bulletin board.

More later...

I picked up Nancy at 12:30PM and took her to her hair appointment. Then we went to lunch at Copan Truck Stop and afterward drove around town and stopped at the Chronicle and visited with Rudy and Kathy. I took her home at 4:15PM. We had a good afternoon.

I am waiting for the news now.It is going on 5:00PM.

About 5:30PM or so, Michele texted me that her mother, who was going to go on the mystery tour with me next Thursday, had fallen in her garage about three weeks ago and broken her hip. She had surgery and is now in "Home in Sight" at Windsor Place having physical therapy. She has done very well and is getting to go home next Thursday but she is not able to take the mystery tour at this point. It would be too taxing. I will go visit her there...possibly tomorrow...for sure next Wednesday.

I will take my bath at 7:00PM and read until 9:00PM when I plan to go on to bed.

Wednesday and Game Day at the Senior Center

I had a kind of "different" night's sleep. And I woke up kind of dizzy. I don't know what that was all about but I will take my blood pressure after awhile and see if that had anything  to do with it. Lately it has been like 122/67 and I thought that was very good.

I will fix my breakfast and see if that will help. All I had for supper was a banana but that's what I usually have for supper and I had a good lunch at Eggbert's..

I will leave for my hair appointment at 8:15AM this morning. After that I will get a cherry limeade slush at Sonic and sit in the car at the senior center and read my new book, "Peril" by Bob Woodward. It came yesterday. It's 6:45AM now and I should turn on the TV for "the weather on the 8's" and also check on the cats. Scruff came back for supper last evening and I fed her dry cat food. She ate quite a bit of it.

Both Scruff and Blondie came for breakfast and the both ate the dry cat food.

I went out back and cleaned up the leaves again out there. I am sure the bending exercise is good for me. It is time now for me to leave for Coffeyville and my hair appointment.

I went to the bank when I got there and got some money for the week and then took the newspapers out to Karan to take to the animal shelter. Then I washed my car and cleaned it up and then went by Sonic and bought a cherry limeade slush. Then I went to the senior center and sat in the car and read my new book until time to go in and play games.

Afterward, I took my remaining cupcakes to Marilyn Rutledge since she is a shut in and is down in the back with spinal stenosis. I stayed and visited an hour before coming back home.

It's almost time for the evening news so I will get back to this after that is over.

So, more later...

My television was a mess. Every station was tearing this morning. I finally had to just turn it off. I even lost my wireless this evening and Alexa wouldn't work until they finally got everything working again. I don't know whether they got the TV back to normal or not. I have Alexa playing music right now.

It's 7:35PM now and I just had my bath. I plan to read my new book until bedtime at 9:00PM or so.

Tuesday and No Particular Plan

I slept pretty well last night. It rained and I could hear the rain on the roof. I'll bet the flowers will enjoy that. It's been awhile since we have had any rain. Even so I was up twice in the night because of all the water I am drinking to stay hydrated.

When it gets light I will be interested to see what it looks like after such a good rain.  I know the wind blew last evening because there were leaves everywhere on both front and back yards.

It's about 5:50AM now and I will go turn on "the weather on the 8's" and see what to expect today. I have finished my breakfast and am working on my coffee.

Scruff came for breakfast but Blondie probably ate at home. He did not come. She ate the dry food. It's as I said, if you get hungry enough, you will eat anything that is offered.  She did.

I am watching the CBS news now. It's 7:25AM now and it's getting light.

I turned on the CBS news and watched it for awhile...mostly old news.

Then I went out front and raked 2/3 of the front yard and bagged up the leaves. I made a dent in it but not too long of a dent. But I played out and needed to stop and drink some water. It's only 63 degrees out there this morning but it was the exertion..not the heat that got to me. I will rest and if I get motivated again I may do the rest later. The back yard is just as bad. I may get the energy to do that after I get the front done,,if I get the front done.

I got the back yard cleaned up again....not that it will do any good...the wind is blowing out there. I left the front yard 2/3 done. There are a lot more trees out there and no fence at all..the back yard does have a fence. That helps a little.

It's 10:02AM now and I guess I will go read. I am pretty tired.

I read until lunch time and then I went out to Eggbert's and had my ice tea and chicken salad, fruit and muffin. Then I went to Myrtles to se what she might have new. I didn't find anything I wanted to buy.

Then I went over to Nancy's and stayed two hours and visited. Then I came home and read some more.

I did a little more raking on the front yard but didn't finish it. Instead I came in and went back to my latest book.

I finished it at 9:30PM and will take my bath and go to bed now.

Monday and Laundry

I slept better last night and was up shortly before 5:00AM as usual. I am going to do my laundry today. That's only my underwear, towels and pajamas. I do my tops and pants with Dryel.

I don't have a plan for today or tomorrow.  I may go check on Nancy again after 1:00PM when her caregiver leaves. I am not sure when Dale and Gina plan to take her to Bartlesville to that assisted living place, Green Country Retirement Village.  Gina said 'a week or so' in her text.

I have had my breakfast and am drinking my coffee now.  Soon I will go turn on the TV and check "the weather on the 8's" and see if either of the cats have come to eat. I doubt they will. Yesterday they barely touched that dry cat food and then left. I will try it again today if either of them comes to eat.

More later...

First  Scruff came and ate..and ate..and ate.  Then Blondie saw her eating that dry food and came over and joined her and he ate too. Now they have both had their fill and he has gone home and last I saw she was under my hedge. But I put the food away because they seem to be done.

More later..I need to put the laundry in the dryer.

Scruff came out from behind the hedge and wanted some more food so I put it back out for awhile and after she finished this time, I put it away again.

I have cleaned the leaves up from the back yard again and even picked up a few from the front when I watered out there. It may rain today..later this afternoon but I am not counting on it. It's way too unpredictable in Kansas. I have not put the solar kitty out yet. I want to see what it's going to do today. It's overcast now so it wouldn't work anyhow.

More even later...I will go read.

I read until 11:30AM and then went to the post office to get stamps. I called the Merle Norman store in Chanute and had the owner send me some Moisture Emulsion. That's what I use under my makeup to add moisture to my skin. I sent her a check to pay for it. Then I went to Copan Truck Stop and had a small chef salad and iced tea for my lunch. From there I went to Miller Brothers station in Dewey and got my tank filled up and also the mower gas can. Then I went to the mall and bought some hand soap. From there I went out to the Honda Dealership and had them look up how long it had been since my oil was changed. It had been months, I knew. but my car has sat in the garage for months with me only getting out to go to Coffeyville on Wednesdays and occasionally take Nancy for a drive. It still said 40% left in it's life on my dash.

But he found it had been over a year since the oil had been changed and he said 15% or a year. I made an appointment for Tuesday the 18th at 10:00AM.  That's next Tuesday.. next week. This is the only car I will ever have  (unless something completely unforeseen happens) and I want to take care of it. It's 14 years old. It's an '85 Honda with only 112,000 miles on it. It has been an excellent car.

It's 1:57PM now and when I drove into Caney, it was sprinkling. It looks like the sun is out but I had sprinkles on my windshield coming in. I can tell this is unpredictable Kansas.

I see the back yard is covered in leaves again. It's way too many to pick up again.I would have to mow them and I won't do that at 87 degrees....whoops! I see my phone says 93 degrees.

I will go out and check my mail. It should have come by now.

It was just one piece of spam. I get a lot of that stuff..online and on my phone and in the mail. It's very annoying.

It's 6:00PM right now and I think I will go ahead and take my bath. I am not interested in the Tulsa news. More violence every day. A shooting yesterday and another today. Way too many guns in the hands of people with no business having them.

I've read until 9:00PM and now I am ready to go to bed. It was starting to rain a bit ago and I brought the solar kitty in the den.

Sunday and Online Church Again

I slept restlessly last night. I guess I was concerned about Nancy's situation.  She's really kind of trapped. There's nothing I can do to help her out of that situation. I have tried to  take her on drives to get her out of the house and also out to eat occasionally. But her family just wants to put her in a nursing home and she does not want to leave her home. I am quite sure this is all about the money and has little to do with her so called "dementia". Sure, she's forgetful but anyone our age has those moments. People twenty years younger then us also have them. Anyhow she just has to tell them "no" emphatically and stick to it. I visit with her twice a week and we can have a nice visit and I seldom notice her forgetfulness. A couple of days ago, I was trying to remember the name of the man that owned the radio station I worked for for twelve years. I couldn't come up with it. Wednesday, it suddenly came to me while I was driving. It was Dick Seaton. That's how it goes.

Anyhow, I have had my breakfast now and am drinking my coffee. I doubt if the cats are out there. They have given up eating here. They no longer want dry cat food. And I am not buying the wet stuff.  I should never have fed them that Suzanne gave me.

In a few minutes I will go turn on "the weather on the 8's" and see what the forecast is. The last I checked yesterday we were to get rain on Tuesday but that seldom pans out. It's 5:39AM now.

They took the rain out of Tuesday now. I'm not surprised.

I read for a couple of hours then finished my book and opened the front door. Both cats were there...hungry. They were not happy about the dry food but if they get hungry enough they will eat it. Maybe..maybe not...we will see.

It;s 8:30AM now.

No, they were both gone and if they ate any at all it was very little. I put it back in the can John gave me.

My son, Keith, who works for the department of defense, is back from Nigeria  now. He has been gone a month. I am so happy he is home.

It is 11:00AM now and I will watch the "Beyond the Walls" church service online.

That service  was all about the history of our church. It was very interesting.

More even later...

I read all afternoon and finally watched part of a football game before watching the 6:00PM mission Center Worship and Communion Service. That is over now and I will take my bath and probably read some more before bedtime at 9:00PM.
