Saturday Morning and a Trip to Bartlesville

Bob and I will go to breakfast this morning but then about 9:00 we will go to Bartlesville. We were just in Owasso last Saturday but didn't spend any time looking around in the stores. We will walk the mall in Bartlesville and I will look  in Christopher and Banks.  I don't really need anything but I am so tired of my winter clothes. But perhaps I will just look.

I stripped my bed this morning and have washed the sheets and now am washing towels.  I also ran the afghans through the dryer on "fresh air" to get the cat hair off them. I hope to get the sheets back on the bed before we leave for Bartlesville.

The east is having a lot of snow but here in the midwest we are having weather in the 50's and 60's. We will probably get our snow in February or even March.

More later...

We went to Bartlesville and we ate at Garfield's and walked around the mall.   We didn't buy a thing except lunch.

When I got home, I cleaned the bathroom. Then I sat down to read. I went to the dollar store to buy Canola Oil for my cake on Monday evening.  I sat here and read and ate an entire can of chocolate covered almonds. I may be sick tonight. :)

Missy will be wanting her treats in about 15 minutes.  Right now she's curled up and napping in the recliner.

More much later...

Those of you who have been following the illness of "Balisha", please check her blog. She now has her diagnosis. It is serious. She needs all the prayers we can share with her.

Friday At Last

Thank goodness it's Friday. Katie will be gone again today but she is leaving the scanner and tablet with one of the librarians.  So I will try to get another couple of hours in.  I may as well stay with it a little at a time because it is going to take me months to do the entire library.

I slept well again last night. Missy is in on the daybed now. She likes one of the Christmas pillows in there and when she disappears and I go look for her, that's where she generally can be found.

Today, we will eat half of the ribs Bobby and Karan gave us. I have browned them already and have them in the slow cooker. They are to cook on number 3 setting for three hours. I will let them cook until 10:30 and then put them on "warm". We will have some fried potatoes and a veggie with our orange jello with maraschino oranges for a salad. I still have lemon pudding and cookies for dessert.

We have exercise class this morning and this is cinnamon roll day too at Utopia so we will probably go for coffee after the class.

Oh yes...I sold another book on Amazon. I have it packed to be mailed now and after we leave Utopia, I will need to drop by the post office and get the book in the mail.

I cleared about $6.00 this month selling books.

More later....

We did go to Utopia and had a cinnamon roll with our coffee.  Sonya paid for everyone's cinnamon roll. That happens every once in awhile.

More still later...

I worked from 2:00 until 4:00 scanning bar codes.  The tablet kept freezing so I finally removed it from the cover. It also once shut down after giving me the option of saving my work. I did that and then rebooted it and logged back on to the program and then scrolled down to where I had left off and continued my scanning in the correct order.  Then I spent the rest of the time putting away DVDs and cleaning shelves.

When I got home I ate some yogurt and a couple of cookies and had a couple of cups of hot chocolate.

I watched TV until 9:00 when I went to bed.

Thursday Again

I slept very well last night...in fact, I didn't get up until 5:30...late for me.  I feel well rested though.

I stayed up to watch both Nature and Nova last night...then I just couldn't make it any longer. I went to bed shortly after 9:00.

I've had my biscuit already and both cups of flavored coffee.  I  also checked my bank account and saw that my SER deposit is in.  That's good. I don't know whether Katie got my time sheet faxed yesterday or not. She was in Olathe all day at a meeting. Hopefully, if she didn't, Amie will remind her.

We are having chicken tenders for lunch. I will have mashed potatoes and gravy with it and a veggie. Bob will bring a salad. I have cookies and perhaps I can get some pudding made this morning.

I will probably be back to scanning at work again today. My thumbs are fine now and the swelling has gone down. Maybe I can keep that from happening again by just not working at it so long.

More later....

That's what I did at work alright.  From 1:00 until 2:30 I scanned bar codes. Then I found other things to do and stayed busy. My left thumb is sore again now and is swollen again too.

I had a couple of cups of hot chocolate this evening, with a cookie. I will have some yogurt before I take my bath.

Wednesday and Exercise Class Again

We didn't have exercise class on Monday because of the holiday. So I am ready to get back to it today.

I slept very well last night, probably because I went to bed later.

I worked on DVDs yesterday with Paula  for most of the afternoon yesterday. There were four basketfuls of them. School had been out for the holiday

Katie was gone until 4:00 and the scanner and tablet were locked up so I did some cleaning too. After she came in, she set up the scanner and tablet and I began scanning again. I got nearly through the aisle I had nearly completed on Monday when she had to delete my work and I had to begin again.  I stopped at 5:00 and left for home.  My thumbs, especially my left thumb (the one I pull the books out of the bookcase with) were both swollen and sore.  They are better this morning although the left one is still swollen and sore.

Today, my time sheet gets faxed and tomorrow I should be paid by SER by direct deposit. I am thinking of paying the second car payment out of it. I managed to get the car insurance paid with the first check this month...thanks to Keith and Esther and their deposits.  What a blessing they are!

More later....

I didn't have to scan today. Katie was out of town.  I did some cleaning and then Adrian brought me some DVDs to clean and repair and I did that for an hour or so. I checked in some DVDs and put away a bunch too.

Katie will be back tomorrow so I will catch up on the scanning.

Bob dropped by awhile ago and wanted me to write a check for him for his Lion's Club. He wouldn't stay. This  was one of the few evenings when I wasn't exhausted but he didn't want to stay. He knows I usually take my bath about 7:00 and will watch TV this evening.  PBS has Nature and Nova on this evening so I will take my bath a little early so I can sit in the recliner with Missy in my lap. She tried to climb up here a little while  ago and I wouldn't let her up.

Bobby came by awhile ago and brought me a big package of country style pork ribs. We are having chicken tomorrow but then Friday I will put half those ribs in the slow cooker and let them cook all morning and we will have them on Friday at noon. That was so nice of them! They also sent Bar B Q Sauce.  Bobby said Karan felt bad that I provide Bobby so much food and wanted to do something for me. That is great friends! Neat!

I am planning to have a Superbowl party February 1st. All my friends that I invited agreed to come. There will be six of us.  I will fix popcorn, nuts, apple crisp and ice cream. Also I will serve a variety of Keurig drinks and hot chocolate and perhaps even wine.

Tuesday and My Hair Appointment

This morning I have a hair appointment in Independence at 9:00. Afterward,  I will go into Big Cheese and get our small pizza.  Bob brought some more Coke over so we will have it with our pizza. We get original crust (thin), all three cheeses, extra sauce (spicy)  and Italian sausage. We really like it that way. We generally only have this pizza once every three weeks.

I dread going to work this afternoon. My hands are still sore from yesterday and days past. But I will no longer try to get an entire one side of an aisle done each day. Yesterday was so disappointing. All that work with sore hands and then to have to start over.

Also, Paula didn't work yesterday because school was out. So there are three or four baskets of DVDs to be put away.  She will be working this afternoon (for an hour)  so she can try to get some of that done. I got them all in the machine that last half hour I worked yesterday.  But I got none of the cases put in the bookcases. So there are several hundred cases to be put away in the bookcases.

I am doing a load of laundry this morning. It's been a week since I've done any.  Bob may have some to do this afternoon too.

More later...

Katie was out most of the afternoon. I cleaned some shelves and helped Paula put out four basketfuls of  DVD cases.  It was a big day. About 4:00 Katie came in and I got the scanner out and started again scanning the same books I scanned yesterday. I would about an hour. Once again the tablet acted up. When I saved a shelf of scanned numbers, it shut down and I had to reboot it. The next fourteen numbers I scanned appeared at the top of the list instead of at the bottom. We deleted them and I rescanned the fourteen books. I saved those and finished that row and began the next. That's where I stopped and took the first and last books I had scanned to Katie so she could mark them on her list.

I feel better this evening...not near as tired... although both my thumbs are swollen. They are just a little sore.

I will take a bath in awhile and then put on my PJs and sit in the recliner so Missy can lay on my lap. :)  She's so spoiled.

I managed to stay up and awake through the president's State of the Union speech and Brooks and Shields commentary. I tried to watch the Republican response but she was just too boring and I gave up and went to bed sometime after 10:00.

Monday and A Doctor's Appointment

Today at 9:00 I have a doctor's appointment. It's just the regular semi annual checkup. I will go a little early to give blood so they can check my thyroid.

We will have the leftover chicken casserole for lunch with biscuits and boiled potatoes and coleslaw. The casserole has green peas in it. I hope to have time to bake cookies this morning too.

I have to work today. The library is open even though the rest of the city offices are closed. Maybe  it will be a light day...although with the school holiday, it may be extra heavy. I'll just have to wait and see.  My thumbs are still sore from doing the inventory with that scanner last Friday. I'll just have to deal with it.

I slept well last night. I got a lot done yesterday even though I was unable to make it to the Martin Luther King celebration. By the time I finished the letters and the minutes, it was already 3:00.  So I just read instead.

More later...

This afternoon was a nightmare at work. First I put together another couple of cookbooks. That used two of my four hours. Then Katie wanted me to start again on the inventory.  So I got about three fourths through the aisle and discovered that the tablet was acting up and mixing up the scanned  numbers.  Katie said she didn't know why but I might have accidentally touched the screen and the numbers started at that point instead of at the end. I can't imagine that I did that but who knows. Anyhow, she deleted all that aisle and I have to start again. My hands ache terribly from pulling the books out of the bookcases and opening the covers to scan the bar code.

That's the bad news. Now here's the good news. The lab just called me from the doctor's office.   My cholesterol, which is usually near 200 (although mostly good cholesterol) is down to 115 and the good cholesterol is 85. So they were very pleased and so am I.  She wanted to know what I am doing differently and I told her I try to eat a healthy good lunch in the middle of the day and then just have a couple of cups of Chi Latte and a small carton of yogurt in the evening after work. Also I usually eat oatmeal in the morning...or dry cereal.

More later...

I simply couldn't stay up past 8:30 so I went on to bed. There was absolutely nothing on TV anyhow and reading in the evening makes me even sleepier.

Sunday and Church Again

This is Sunday and I will go to church this morning.  Afterward a group of us will probably go to lunch somewhere.

Yesterday Bob picked me up at 10:30 and we went to get Marilyn. Then we drove to Owasso for lunch at the Olive Garden there. Bob and I bought Marilyn's lunch. It was very good! We all had an Eggplant Parmesan dish.  That and salad, bread sticks, and peach tea filled us up.   Marilyn was able to take some home for her supper. I ate all of mine and then only had the rest of Bob's pumpkin bread for my supper with two cups of Chi Latte. We had also had a large breakfast at Eggberts that morning.

I got up at 5:30 this morning after warming up the apartment. I had intended to wash my hair but changed my mind after getting up and looking at it.  I can live with it another day or two. I did a little trimming on it where it had grown out of shape. Tuesday it is time for my haircut and color. Then I will pick up a Big Cheese pizza for our lunch.

Anyhow, I have read the paper, done the crossword puzzle and had my coffee and a bowl of dry cereal.  I am dressed and ready for church this morning. I am congregational secretary so I have my minutes book out and my offering envelope ready so I am now checking my e-mail, writing my blog and generally just killing time until 9:00 when Bob will come by to pick me up.  I have been watching the weather on TV. It's fairly mild here and yesterday was simply lovely.  It got up into the  60s. Remarkable...for January in Kansas.

This evening we have our Living the Questions group at Bobby and Karan's home.  I imagine that will be at 7:00 since she did not tell me she intended to have dinner too. Sometimes we do that.  We may not have many. Keith died, Joyce was sick the last I heard, Richard and Mona have not been coming lately.  Marilyn and Bob will be there and maybe Becky. So there may be as few as 6 this evening.

More later....

We ate at the Railroad Inn in Independence and although the meal was good, it was more expensive then the Olive Garden meal yesterday. I couldn't do that too often.

I spent the afternoon doing my letters...even thought hey won't go out until Tuesday...at least they are finished.  I also worked on the minutes of today's business meeting.

Bob came over to watch some of the football game. Later, near 7:00, we left to go to Bobby and Karan's for the Living the Questions group meeting.   We had a good time although there were only 6 of us. Mona and Richard have the flu and Joyce is still sick.

I got home at 9:00 and got ready for bed and then stayed up until 10:00
