I slept very well last night. I'm not surprised. I was very tired and went on to bed last night at 8:30.
I don't think it has rained yet but it is forecast. I have dressed and had my oatmeal and coffee.
I will make a quick trip to Independence later this morning after they open at 9:00AM. Walgreens notified me that my prescription is ready to be picked up. They automatically refill it each 90 days.
I am so glad I got the mowing done for the week yesterday. Now it won't matter if it rains or not.
I don't have anything else planned for today. I may see if Nancy wants to have lunch. I have been so busy since Wednesday that I haven't seen her or heard from her. She generally just drops by instead of calling first.
More later....I will go watch the weather channel for the weather on the 8s and then the news. I also watched the little grey kitty eat the cat food I put out.
About 8:30, I made a trip to Independence to pick up my prescription that I get from them. Then just after I got home the storm moved in and we got into a tornado watch. Tulsa's Broken Arrow is under a tornado warning.
Keith called a while ago and we went into the Blogger Spot and did some experimenting to figure out how to get my photos to transfer to the Blogger Spot blog. We learned the easiest way was just to open my blog in another window and copy and paste those photos in where they belong on the Bloggers Spot.
It's amazing what you can do with Team Viewer.
It's my lunch time so I guess I will just fix some soup or some Schwan's pot pie for lunch.
So back later...
I had the soup and I have enough left for my supper tonight. It was very good.
We are under a storm watch until 5:00PM this evening.
I watched the Dateline shows I had recorded until 9:00PM when I finally went on to bed. I was very tired.

Friday and a Birthday Cake
I slept very well last night and only got up once. I have dressed and had my breakfast and coffee and Chai and am thinking seriously about mowing this morning before I go back to Coffeyville to the senior center lunch. The lunch starts at 11:00AM so I have plenty of time. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so if I don't get it done this morning, I won't get it done until Monday and by then it will be very high. About 8:00AM, I plan to start. I may not get all of it done today but I would like to get the front and the back. Those are the easiest to do. The side yard is more of a challenge.
After the lunch at 11:00AM, I will stop by Country Mart and pick up Wayne's birthday cake. Then I will take it by Bill and Evelyn's and ask Evelyn to put it in her frig until Marilyn gets home. Marilyn will stay at the senior center until they get the kitchen cleaned up after the luncheon.
I am getting some laundry done this morning. I cleaned yesterday.I may get some of those red edging bricks while I am in Coffeyville this morning. I would like to put them around that small area under my hanging plant. Then I would put some mulch on that bare place under the plant.
So, more later...
It's just now 8:00AM and I just finished mowing the front and the back. The side yard will have to wait. I am bushed! And I emptied the grass catcher into the Bag Buddy and swept up what came out from under the mower. I will do the side yard this evening if I have fully recovered by then. :) I know mowing is good exercise so I want to do it as long as I can. I know July and August will have to be mowed by someone a lot younger then I am. But I want to wait until I really need the help.
This is the back yard.
And this is the front yard.
Well, it sounds like the dryer is finished so I had better fold out the towels and put away the underwear.
So more later...
Right after I finished that, I took off for Coffeyville. I wanted to pick up some stones at Orschleln's to line the flowerbed in the front so I could use the rest of my mulch. Then I went on to the dinner and it was very good!
I stopped at Country Mart and picked up Wayne's birthday cake for Monday and also stopped at Tyro and bought one of those Amish pies. They are wonderful! I will fix my meatloaf on Sunday and take that and the peach pie to the church dinner after the worship service.
I got that mulching finished and will post a photo of the result shortly.
Here it is. It looks a lot better now. I will get back to this later...Right now, I will watch some Amazon Prime TV. While sitting on the sofa watching TV, I felt a mild tremor of one of our earthquakes in this area. These are caused by oil companies injecting water into the old wells. This one was a 4.4.
It is almost 5:00PM now and it is still 83 degrees and way too hot for me to mow my side yard. If it cools down this evening, I will get it done. We are forecast for rain tonight and if it rains, I won't get it done in the morning either. If it cools down some this evening, I will try to mow...otherwise, it will just have to wait.
I talked to Bob this evening about the dinner theater in Overland Park in July. I have printed off the information for him and Joanne and also Phyllis. I will take it to church. While I had him on the phone he asked me if I was planning on making baked beans for Sunday's dinner. I told him about the pie I had bought and the meatloaf I was going to bake and he said he was going to fix the baked beans then. That worked out well!
It's 5:50PM and it cooled off just enough for me to mow the side yard. Plus there was a little breeze and that helped a lot! I am so pleased! I knew we were forecast for rain tonight and I really wanted to finish the entire job for this week.
Here is the side yard! Finished!!!
I checked my son's facebook page and found an update of their new home going up now.
As you can see, it's coming right along!
I will wait until 7:00PM to take my bath and put my pjs on at that time and get myself ready for bed. It's only 6:15PM now.
I will want to go to bed at 9:00PM. It's been a big day!

Thursday and the Bloodmobile
I slept well until 4:00AM when I woke up wide awake. I got up and dressed, made my bed and had my breakfast and then watched the weather until the "Local on the Eights" came on and then came into the den to read the Chronicle. I forwarded it on to all those I share it with.
I will do some cleaning this morning and then go back over to Coffeyville to help with the bloodmobile for the Red Cross at noon at the First Baptist Church until 3:00PM. They are so short handed that I still go back over to help them. Karan and I will work together our shift. Bob just texted me that he is going to help them from 3:00PM until 6:00PM.
Then tomorrow they are having Asbury Village fix lunch for seniors at the senior center (for $2.00) so I will go back again for that. After that lunch, I will pick up Wayne's cake at Country Mart and take it over to Evelyn's to go into her frig. Marilyn will be helping to clean up the kitchen there at the senior center. Monday we will go back over to Wayne's for a birthday party at 2:00PM. It will be his 99th birthday.
I don't know when I will be able to mow this next week, We are forecast for a lot of rain on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. I don't want to do it before Monday if I can help it because of my hair. My appointment is not until Wednesday. But if it dries by Sunday, I may be forced to mow Sunday afternoon and evening.
More later...
I cut open the bag of mulch in the trunk of my car this morning and filled three buckets of mulch (seventy five hand fulls) to mulch the flower bed in the back. Then I watered it well. Hopefully the mulch will help hold the moisture. I left the rest of the bag of mulch in the trunk of my car. I will use more of it from time to time to mulch some more. I am thinking of getting some more stones to line the bare spot under the place in front where I hung my hanging basket and then mulching that area too.
I just cleaned out the leaves from under the hedge in front and put those leaves in the bag I have hanging in the garage on the bag buddy. It looks a lot neater now. I also went ahead and washed the bathroom and kitchen floors and vacuumed the apartment. So that's done for another week. I will need to dust later.
I won't leave for Coffeyville until 11:30 to work the bloodmobile. I am thinking of mowing the front while I wait. However, It's 10:20AM right now. ...so maybe not. I will see what it's like outside after I get back from Coffeyville about 3:30PM or so.
More later...
I went over to Coffeyville a little early and walked around one of the discount stores. Then I went in to the Bloodmobile early and gave blood for the first time in decades. I have O Positive blood and they are needing it badly. I decided to give it.
After I finished my stint as an escort, I came back home and thought again about mowing. But it is just too hot and I knew that would not be good for me. So I will wait and see what the weather is like in the morning.
I am going to watch the last episode of The Big Bang Theory and see how it ends. Then after that, I will take my bath at 7:00PM or after the program, and put my pjs on and go to bed at 9:00PM

Wednesday and a Busy Day
I slept poorly after 2:30AM last night. A dream woke me up. I finally just got up at 4:00AM because I couldn't shut my mind down after that. I have dressed and had my breakfast and coffee and Chai. It's now 5:05AM and I will text Bob after awhile to make sure he is o.k. It has been a year since his last atrial fibrillation event. They may have his meds regulated correctly now.
I have a 10:00AM hair appointment in Coffeyville. I will go to the bank and Walmart while there and have lunch there and afterward I will attend the bunco games at Asbury Village. This is my big/full day.
I still want to look for my red bucket in the attic. I want to use it to dip out my red mulch. I have left the bag in the trunk of my car since it is too large and heavy for me to move. If I can find my bucket, I will just cut open the bag and take what I need out with the bucket and mulch the flowerbed and leave the rest of the bag in the trunk.
More later...
I had a very busy day! I went over at 6:30AM and picked Bob up for breakfast. After that, I took him back to his apartment and then I went to the bank and the out to Walmart and bought what groceries I needed.
I took my plastic bags by the Genesis office and then had a milkshake for my lunch.
Then I had my hair done and after that did some shopping for my June prizes for bunco at the senior center. I dropped by Karan's and reminded her of the bunco at Asbury Village. She had forgotten. She had been raking and bagging up the leaves in her yard. But she finished and then cleaned up for bunco.
After Bunco, I went by the Country Mart store and ordered a strawberry cake for Wayne's 99th birthday on Monday. Marilyn will buy ice cream and we will have a party for him on Monday. I stopped and bought a cute birthday card for him and took it over to Marilyn's for Evelyn and her to sign it. Evelyn will get Bill to sign it too. I am to go back to Coffeyville tomorrow noon and help at the Bloodmobile. Then I will pick up the birthday cake on Friday after the lunch at the senior center and take it to Marilyn's so she can put it in her frig to save until Monday. We will have the party Monday at 2:00PM. at Wayne's home. It will be a busy week.
Sometime I will need to mow if the weather holds. Suzanne called me today to have lunch with her but I was over to Coffeyville and had to take a rain check.
More later...
I watched TV until 10:00PM when I realized I had dozed off. I finally got up and went to bed then.

Tuesday and a Great Nights Sleep
I went to bed fairly early last night and had just got to sleep when the phone rang. When I picked up, it was an telephone insurance agent. I hung up and just got back to sleep when he called again. This time I blocked his call. That is so aggravating! They ought to enforce that law! They usually just get another phone when you block them.
Anyhow, I wore my new yellow lens glasses last night to watch TV and I slept like a baby. Even when I woke up once to go to the bathroom, I got right back to sleep. I hope that lasts.
I received my Mother's day gift from Scott and Ginger yesterday afternoon It was Sheri's Berries and they came packed in ice. I had one right away! MMMM. They are really good. Before bed, and after I had my yogurt, I had another. The instructions say to eat them within 48 hours so I am doing my best to obey them.
I got up a little after 5:00AM this morning and dressed and got ready for the day and had my oatmeal and coffee and am now working on my Chai.
I ordered five used books last night for the Church School class. When we finish the Brain McLaren book we are studying right now, we will start the new one that Karan has just finished. It is called "We Make the Road By Walking".
Tomorrow is hair day and my hair really needs it. Mowing the back yard this week played havoc with my hair. I could have washed it, I guess, but I can never do anything with it when I do it myself. Toni backcombs some of it to give it some shape and I don't backcomb. She also flat irons my bangs so they don't curl up. I don't flat iron either. So, I just wait for her to do it on Wednesdays.
I will eat lunch in Coffeyville tomorrow and then go to Bunco at Asbury Village in the afternoon. That makes a day of it. I also will go to the Walmart store there for anything I find that I need by Wednesday. I need Cheddar cheese and crackers. I need that to go with my usual lunch soup. I will also need some more ingredients for my meatloaf for Sunday's basket dinner at church. I will also need some more beans for baked beans too. I need to look up my recipes to be sure I get everything I need.
More later....
It's drizzling this morning. It is suppose to clear by noon and have sunshine. I hope it does. I put out the usual cat food this morning and then made a point of chasing away the starlings so the cats could eat it. Sure enough, the little grey cat came and ate his/her fill and then I moved it to the east side of my little porch and soon the little yellow cat came and ate his/her fill too. Now the birds can have what's left.
I am supposed to have lunch with Nancy this morning if she is feeling better today. I will call her in a couple of hours to check that out. I went over briefly last evening and she was better.
I have dead headed the flowers in the hanging basket and will do the flowerbed after the rains stops.
I called the city about the house catty cornered across the street at Eighth and State, The grass there is at least 18 inches tall and I wanted to find out if they had an ordinance against letting something like that go. They do! I guess someone just has to issue a complaint. The lady at city hall said she would contact the people in charge of enforcing that ordinance. We will see!!
More even later....
I finally found a purse I like, I got it at Myrtle's store here in Caney. Later I picked up Nancy and we had lunch at Eggberts. Then I took her home and came on back home myself.
I baked peanut butter criss cross cookies this afternoon.
I heard from the emergency management folks here in Kansas this afternoon. The guy is Lee Miller and he was trying to locate the Ministerial Alliance. I had to tell him we disbanded that organization last November. They voted to disband.
He told me the Red Cross offices in Coffeyville were closed and the building is for sale. It is a money crisis according to him. He gave me his e-mail address and asked me to send him the minutes of the meeting where we voted to disband.
I talked to Jean Page and she confirmed what he said. The entire operation is being moved to Wichita. I don't know what has happened to Aaron. I will ask Judy on Thursday when I go to work the bloodmobile. What a mess! Bob volunteered for twelve years for Red Cross after disasters. He loved to do that. And FEMA recruited him after we moved from Independence to Coffeyville. He had taken every course they offered. He much preferred Red Cross. He said volunteers had a completely different spirit about them. Obviously they were not in it for the money. They wanted to be of service.
I got an e-mail back from Andy Taylor, editor of the County Chronicle, and he said this evening the office had been closed for almost a year and it couldn't have been much of a secret.
Weird!
I took my bath at 7:00PM and went to bed at 9:00PM after watching some Amazon Prime programs. There was absolutely nothing on regular TV that I was interested in watching.

Monday and a Quiet Day
I slept very well last night and didn't get up until 5:00AM. I got myself ready for the day and had my breakfast and coffee. I ordered a "Flawless" for Bob. He wants to give it to Joanne. They keep the peach fuzz off our chins. Karan and Leslie and I all have one and use them regularly. :)
I don't have anything in particular planned for today. I might do a small load of laundry...towels, underwear and PJs. Other then that, the apartment is clean and the yard is mowed and trimmed.
I do need to water my new plant and check out the flowerbed. I don't know what has happened to my hummingbird. I changed the nectar in the feeder but I haven't seen anything of the hummingbird in days. I will go watch the news now and get back to this later.
I watched the news and several programs that I had recorded and then I went through the next week and marked the programs I want to record through next Sunday.
I did water the hanging plant in front and also called Nancy to see how she is feeling. She is feeling sick again today. I would love to take her back to the doctor and help her find out what is going on in her system that she periodically gets sick. But she resists doing that and I am not going to further urge her to do it. She didn't go to church yesterday either and that's also a bad sign. That is so important to her. I know if she was up to it, she would have been there. They even had a dinner at their church and according to her, that went well. Sandy came and filled her in on the service.
Yesterday evening I worked on my June 9th sermon. I will be gone the weekend before that and I didn't want to put off my preparation to the last minute. We will have a basket dinner next Sunday when Joshua Crown is with us for the 11:00AM hour. I will need to thaw some ground beef for a meatloaf and perhaps some baked beans for that dinner.
More later....
I watered my new hanging plant and also the flowers in the flowerbed in back. Halfway through the afternoon the mailman brought my Mother's Day gift from Scott and Ginger....Sheri's Berries...wonderful treats. I had one immediately and will have another this evening.
I also received my new yellow lens glasses. They are supposed to keep the blue screens on TV, computers and smart phones from destroying the melatonin our bodies makes to help us to sleep. I hope by using them as I watch TV or work on the computer or smart phone, I will sleep better.
Later I went over to visit with Nancy. She is feeling somewhat better this evening. She was dealing with diarrhea the past day and a half. We had a nice visit and I got back home about 6:15PM.
About 30 minutes from now, I will take my bath and put my PJs on. I did a load of towels, underwear and my PJs this morning so everything will be clean.
I do not plan to go to bed until 9:00PM or so.

Sunday and a Very Busy Morning
I got up about 6:00AM and immediately heated the oven and started my coffeecake. When I got it in the oven and the dishes washed up, I trimmed and put my Mother's Day flowers in clean water with the last packet of food for them. They are still looking good.
Karan just texted me to bring our Mother's Day flowers to church to share on the worship table. I don't know whether I can get mine there without spilling the water. I just used fresh water and the last packet of plant food in it and I don't have a jar with a lid for the fresh water. I have my cake for Tuesday and the coffeecake to bring too as well. Karan seems determined to do this. Maybe I will just put the vase between my feet on the floor.
Bob just suggested a box. I also have the packing material that came with my Bag Buddy. Maybe I can put that around the vase in the box.
I just got the coffeecake out of the oven and it is cooling. When it is cool I will ice it.
I got it iced and will pack my car now.
How about that! That all worked fine! I now need to get on my way about 8:20AM. It is 8:15AM now!
I just heard from Leslie that they have reservations for Vintage for lunch. That's a really nice restaurant! Sounds great!
My kids are super!
More later...
The church service was very good and we had a very good dinner at Vintage afterward.
When I got home, I got out of my church clothes and into some jeans and an older shirt and mowed the back yard and trimmed all three yards. They all look nice and neat now. Leslie said the next time they were in my area, they would stop by and sharpen the blade on the mower. That may help... although I really hadn't noticed it was dull.
Melissa had a very good sermon this morning and she gave each person there a little begonia plant. I will plant mine in the flowerbed in a little while. I also want to get a hanging basket of flowers for the front of the apartment sometime soon. I will look around here in Caney and see if they have any left at that place on the highway. If not, I will buy one on Wednesday when I go to Coffeyville for my hair appointment. I bought the hook to put it on yesterday at Orschelen's in Independence.
More later...I want to get some water.
They had a Mother's Day sale on hanging potted petunias over on the highway. I looked at them yesterday but went back today to buy this hanging basket. It was on sale for Mother's Day today...a couple of dollars off the other price. After I saw this photo, I took the faded garden flag back by the back flower bed. It was a distraction here in front.
I never did get the mulch out of the trunk. I played out after the mowing and all the other stuff I had done. I will get to it soon. First I have to buy or borrow a bucket. I don't know what happened to the red one Bob gave me years ago. It could be in the attic. I will check that out one of these days soon.
I did watch 60 Minutes this evening. I wanted to see the program on the investigation on the collaborative price fixing of the generic drug companies on the cost of generic drugs. Connecticut is leading the way on this investigation. I wonder where Kansas is on this. I understand 44 states are suing the generic drug companies with Connecticut leading the way. Many people have to decide which to spend their money on...food or medicine. The price of insulin and even some very common antibiotics have gone through the ceiling.
It's a little after 7:30PM now and I have had my bath and put my pjs on and am ready for bed. But I won't actually go to bed before 9:00PM.
