Bob will be by shortly to take us to Sirloin Stockade for breakfast. It rained last night but Missy and I went outside for about 45 minutes anyhow. That little cat that looks like her was across the street but I shooed him off.
More later...I think Bob is here.
We did go to Sirloin Stockade for breakfast and I am full! We will not have a lunch today. When we have a Sirloin Stockade breakfast, it lasts quite awhile.
I'm not sure what I will do today. Everything is caught up here at home.
More later...
Well, after breakfast, I went to the church to run off copies of the lesson material for tomorrow. The back packs were still there...a week after the school started. On the way out there, I noticed one of my tires was low so I stopped at Casey's and aired it up.
When I got back. I read for awhile and then I went out to Walmart to pick up a few things I badly needed. Then I brought my groceries home and put them away and went back to town to Dollar Tire to have them check out my tire. Just as I pulled in, they closed. So I'll have to do that on Monday. I must have a slow leak. I had aired it up just last Saturday.
I then went out to the Woodshed and bought gasoline. It was $1.94 there and $1.99 here in town. I stopped at Country Mart and bought chicken tenders and at Braum's and bought milk.
By the time I got home and put everything away, Bob came in and watched the news with me. I had a coupon for a free roast beef sandwich from Arby's with the purchase of a small drink that was going to expire today. Bob had already eaten something so he just bought a drink and watched me eat.
He left to go home at 6:00 and I will soon take my bath and sit with Missy to find something to watch on TV...if I can.

Friday Again and Exercises
I slept well last night after the mattress was turned. I may not need a new mattress after all.
I got up shortly before 5:00 and got Missy's and my breakfast and emptied the dishwasher. Then we went outside...Missy's favorite thing. She has been very good thus far this morning. She is lying here on her little white mat now and has been for fifteen minutes or so. We went around back earlier and I pulled up the tomato plant and tossed it in a trash bag and threw it into the dumpster. Later on I will use the dirt for the enlarged flower bed I plan for the spring...if I'm still in the apartment in the spring.
Kansas is in such a financial mess, thanks for governor Brownback who did not expand Medicaid and eliminated taxing business in hopes of drawing business to Kansas. That didn't work at all. The entire state is struggling. He has taken all the money he possibly can from the highway fund and every other source he can think of to fund education and everything else. He doesn't seem to have learned anything from the Reagan experience. "Trickle down economics" does not trickle down in a greed driven type economy...which is what capitalism is. Those who do not study history, tend to repeat the mistakes of the past.
All the property taxes will be going up 35% this year and Betty may decide to try to raise the rent again. I simply cannot afford any more rent. I would have to try to find an income based apartment somewhere. When she bought these units she raised the rent $25. a month and cancelled the group TV that Wayne had had to pay for our TV. She had intended to raise it $50. a month but the four of us said we would have to move if she did that. Now she will have the excuse she needs to try to raise it again. As it is, she only has it mowed twice a month regardless of how bad it looks. Wayne had mowed it every week.
I will pick up Bob for exercises in about an hour. Afterward we may go to Utopia for cinnamon rolls and coffee. I may get another Utopia Latte. Those are so good..although expensive. I only do it twice a month.
More later....
We did go to Utopia and I did have that special drink. They give us another smaller one to take home and put in the freezer. I will probably have it this evening.
We will eat later this morning....actually about 12:30. That cinnamon roll was extra large and extra good!
We ate lunch about 12:30 and it was good! I sent one piece of chicken home with Bob and took one to Marilyn. Marilyn is not feeling well today. She is dizzy and nauseous.
I read most of the afternoon. Later this evening, Bob came back to watch the news and Brooks and Shields. Marilyn called to ask me to take her to Urgent care so I left Bob watching the TV and took her up to Urgent Care on Eleventh Street. They were very busy. After about 6:30, they got her in and after another half hour, they sent her out with a prescription for an antibiotic. They say she had an inner ear infection. I took her out to Walmart, the only place with an open pharmacy. They are open until 8:00 and Marilyn barely made it. After she got her prescription filled, I brought her back home. I hope that takes care of her problem. I will check on her later. She sleeps late.
I took my bath and watched "The 80's" on CNN until 10:00 and then I could no longer keep my eyes open. So Missy and I went to bed.

Thursday and House Cleaning Day
This is the "free day" that I have in the week to do my housework. I have already stripped my bed and in the doing, managed to get myself in a bind. I tried to turn my mattress this morning and forgot about the bed skirt. Now I just took the mattress off the bed and stood it on it's side against the dresser until later when I can ask Bob to come over and help me turn it around without tearing off the bed skirt. Old age is not for sissies.
I will take Missy out after breakfast and let her enjoy the outside for awhile. Then I will come back in and continue the cleaning. The bedding is in the dryer already and it's just 6:00.
I will clean the kitchen and bathroom first. Then later, after lunch, I will vacuum and dust.
I will fix chicken tenders for lunch with potatoes and gravy and mixed broccoli and cauliflower. Bob will provide the salad and I have mixed fruit and cookies for dessert.
Tomorrow, we are going to Bartlesville to eat at Dink's. It's been awhile since we've been there. I always enjoy a break from cooking.
Now, I'd better go get Missy's and my breakfast started. Missy has been very patient so far.
More later...
Well, we've been out on the carport for an hour so far. I have had to chase Missy home once already. But so far, she's doing fine. I did get the kitchen floor mopped before we came out. I still need to do the bathroom. I have also notified Bob that I will need his help this morning....although I haven't told him why yet.
He will be over after he gets around. I also want to try to tape his bumper again where he ran into a low curb and tore it. The gorilla tape I put on it last spring was beginning to come loose and he had evidently hit another low curb and some of the back part of the bumper was hanging underneath and was torn loose so I cut that off. It couldn't be taped.
More later...
Bob came over later this morning and helped me turn the mattress. Then I went out and re-taped the bumper tear with Gorilla tape. It should hold fine if he doesn't hit another curb.
I called him after I finished my cleaning and suggested we go to Bartlesville today instead of tomorrow. Tomorrow we are forecast for a 60% chance of rain. We may not get it but today is beautiful and I suggested we take advantage of that. We can have our chicken tomorrow. So we did.
After a fine lunch, we walked all around the mall. Then we came back home. I will vacuum my bedroom and dust it now and later he will come back to watch the news. At least he usually does that.
I put the table I was going to paint out front and called Waste Connections to pick it up tomorrow. I really don't have room for it and besides, it's in bad shape. While we were in Bartlesville, someone picked it up. So I canceled the pickup from Waste Connections.
I went to the library and donated my empty ink cartridges. They can get $4.00 each for them. While there, I saw Cindy and Adrian. It was good to them but especially Adrian again. He was especially nice to me when I worked there.
I stopped by Orchelan's and bought some more hummingbird feed. I washed up the feeders and filled them and the hummingbirds came by immediately.
Bob did come over shortly after 5:00, read the paper and watched the news here. He went home at 7:00. There was really nothing of interest on TV. What a shame to pay so much for so little actually entertainment. The Big Bang Theory has disintegrated into just another comedy that is no longer very funny. They must have changed writers this season.

Wednesday and Exercises and Bunco Again
I did not sleep all that well last night. I thought I would since I went to bed later. But I awoke at 2:15 and it was on and off from then on. I got up at 4:45, fed Missy and myself and watched the weather channel to get the temperature. It was 66 degrees! In August! That's unbelievable!
Anyhow after I ate my cereal and took my meds, I took Missy out for awhile. She wandered off twice while I was busy so I eventually brought her back into the apartment. That's punishment enough for her. Poor thing! She was alone most of yesterday and I will be gone today too except at about 10:00 when I get home from exercise class. Bunco starts at 2:00 since it's at Asbury Village this afternoon.
At lunchtime I will make tuna cakes again. I have some leftover potatoes that I will fry with onion and we will have broccoli for our veggie and Bob will probably bring a salad. I have fruit and cookies for dessert.
I guess there is no PINCH meeting this evening. I haven't heard a thing from Carol, who notifies us of the time and place. We canceled last month because so many were ill and had been in the hospital. The month before only three showed up. It may have run it's course.
More later...
Carol is very sick and under the care of a home health nurse. Alfonzo is now well either We are cancelling tonight's meeting. Maybe we can begin again in September after Howard and Judy are back here. Paul will be having dialysis tonight and can't be there either.
After the Bunco games at Asbury Village I came home and read the papers. Bob came over at 5:00 and read them too. He stayed for the news and one episode of the old "Big Bang Theory" and then went home. I took my bath and put my p.j.s on to watch American Experience again tonight. I will probably go to bed at 10:00 again.

Tuesday and Hair Day
I slept poorly last night. I awoke about 1:00 and my right shoulder was aching terribly. I got up to go to the bathroom but could not get back to sleep for the pain. My rotator cuff is aching again after all these years. I hurt it initially while I was working for KGGF radio in the 80's and early 90's. I think I must have aggravated it in exercise class a couple of weeks ago. Finally about 2:15, I got up and took two Aleve. In a few moments I was able to get back to sleep and it is still alright this morning. Time will tell if it will still hurt after the twelve hours when the affects of the Aleve run out.
Bob and I will go to Independence this morning so I can get my hair done and we can have lunch at Great China. I also need to go to the post office there to mail off a book that I sold on Amazon this morning. After we eat lunch, I will come home and read again. This evening at 6:30, I am to give the invocation at the city commission meeting. Then I will come home and watch American Experience on PBS.
More later...
Instead of reading in the afternoon, I asked Karan if she would like to go to Bartlesville with me. She did and we went to Christopher and banks and took advantage of some of their sales. Karan bought two pair of colored jeans and I bought two pair of dark blue jeans with bling on them. Then we stopped at McCalister's to get something to drink. When we went to pay for the drinks, we found that the woman in front of us had already paid for ours too. She was already gone when we went to thank her. Wasn't that sweet!
Then we drove home. Bob came over about 5:00 to read the paper and watch the news. I changed my clothes and went to the city commission meeting. They had moved it up to 6:00 but I didn't get the word. Cindy had told me "6:30". Luckily someone else did the invocation. I stayed for most of the meeting anyhow. When I got home I took my bath and Missy and I sat in the recliner and watched American Experience until 10:00 then we went to bed.

Monday and Lunch at Karan's Home
We all had a lot of food left after the basket dinner yesterday. I took mine to Bob's daughter's thinking she could probably use it. I had a lot of my goulash left and he had his burritos. We gave the salad Bob had to Karan and she is having Marilyn and Bob and me over for dinner to help to use up the large roast and potatoes she had left. She also had a lot of brownies so they will be a part of our dessert.
Tomorrow, Bob and I will eat at Great China after my hair appointment. So that means I won't be cooking again until Wednesday when I plan to have a tuna dish of some kind....probably the patties since I also have some leftover potatoes that I can fry to have with the tuna patties. I will probably have broccoli as a veggie. He will bring a salad. I now have cookies again so we will have fruit with those.
Tomorrow evening I have the invocation at the city commission meeting and perhaps the PINCH meeting on Wednesday evening. Wednesday afternoon we Bunco at Asbury Village and I plan to attend. That's always fun.
More later....
Exercise class went well and afterward we went to Karan's for her lunch. It was very good. We stayed until 2:00 and visited with Karan. It was a good afternoon.
More even later...
We had a good meal and a good visit at Karan's this afternoon. We left about 2:00 this afternoon and I came back home to pick up my mail and read.
Bob came over about 5:30 and watched the news and left about 7:00. I took my bath and sat with Missy in the recliner until about 8:30 when shortly after I went to bed.

Sunday and Another Big Day
I got up about 5:00 this morning and made my coffeecake after breakfast. I started to take Missy out on the carport but she spied that black cat from across the street and I thought it best that we come back in for awhile. It was under the car of one of those folks who live there. When we tried to go back out the car was gone and the cat was also. I iced the coffeecake and then I took her back out for awhile. I watered my plants and even went around back and watered the tomato plant. She came out back too and enjoyed being outside for awhile. It was nice and cool.
I did a small load of laundry this morning. Just some towels my dust mitt and my pj's. It's in the dryer now.
I will load the food for the basket dinner and the coffeecake into my trunk in awhile. Then I will pick up Bob and we will go out to church. I will have my coffeecake, the goulash, the glazed carrots and Bob's salad to go out. He will take the burritos that Karan gave us. This will be a large enough crowd to use them. There must be a dozen of them.
We have a guest speaker today and that's why the basket dinner. Afterward I will take Bob back home and come back to the apartment to do the newsletters and get them ready for the mail. I also want to get a sympathy card ready for Billie Jo and her family. She lost her sister, Jody, on Thursday.
This evening I will go pick up Gary for the Living the Questions group that meets at Karan's home at 7:00 this evening. It will be a big day! That group usually doesn't break up until 9:00.
It was a good session. I got home about 9:00 after taking Bob and Gary home and then I took my bath and went to bed.
