Saturday and A Couple of Meetings

I slept well last night but woke up at 2:00AM realizing I had forgotten to take my contacts out.  I got up and took care of that. My eyes were seemingly not hurt or burning but it is unusual for me to forget to take them out.

Then this morning I awoke at 5:00AM and was lightheaded again. I thought it might be my blood pressure but I took it and it was 130/62...just perfect.  I hate to go back to the urgent care. When I saw the doctor last week I took them a urine sample and they never even called me back about the results. I finished up my antibiotics early this past week. I doubt very much that it was an UTI since I had no symptoms except the dizziness that took me to the Urgent Care to begin with....no burning...which is supposed to be the primary symptom. I don't have much use for doctors. Especially if they are just guessing.

I have had my coffee and oatmeal and even a breakfast bar. I thought eating something might alleviate the light headedness. We will see.

More later. I am going to go watch the weather and check on the cats/kittens. I will get my Chai too.

I got my chai and checked out the cats/kittens. They were all out there,....,just waiting for me to get up and feed them. It is 6:20AM now. I have just texted Bob to see if he is doing alright today. He said he was up early for some reason. (I am always up early)

I think the light headedness is better and it might have been the food that helped..or even the coffee.  All I had last night was a banana and some popcorn.

I want to go downtown this morning at 10:00 AM for the reception Rudy and Kathy are having to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their purchase of the Montgomery County Chronicle. Then I need to get right back home for the 11:00AM practice of the worship service for tomorrow's evening service in Springfield Missouri at 7:00PM.

That's all I have going today. Next Thursday, Dean will be coming for a couple of days. It will be so good to have company.  I haven't seen Nancy since David, her son and his family, came two weeks ago. They are supposed to be leaving today so I may try to see Nancy this afternoon. I am anxious to see what their visit was like. I am hoping it went well. Surely he will not have tried to get her in a nursing home this time with the pandemic going on.

When Dean comes, he wants to go out to the kids' and see the puppies. Nancy wants to go too so we may pick her up to go with us. Then we will go up to Sam's in Independence and have dinner.

More later...

I watched the rest of the CBS news and then again began reading Bob Woodward's new book "Rage". I am up to Chapter 21 and I continue to be amazed at the extreme chaos of the administration. Woodward's 18 interviews with Trump and many other people who served in the administration, are invaluable in understanding why things have become so bad.

It's time now for me to begin thinking about getting uptown to the reception. I want to be among the first since I have to be back here before 11:00 for our practice service for tomorrow evening.

So I will get back to this later this afternoon.

I went to the reception but didn't try to stay for the cake. Too many people wanted to tell their experiences with the Chronicle and the Kopco Company too. By the time they started serving cake and punch I had to get back home to the practice of tomorrow evening's Zoom worship service.

I spent an hour with the Zoom worship service practice and then began working on information for the class newsletter. Before I knew it it was almost 1:00PM and I had not even checked the mail....let alone had lunch.

I had better go ahead and get my lunch going now.

So. more later...

I had my lunch and the only mail was political posters. Too bad.

After lunch I decided to clean the carpets in my car. I took the floor mats out and vacuumed the carpet first.  Then I put the mats down and vacuumed them too and then sprayed them with carpet cleaner. I scrubbed them well and put them to dry. I hope they come out well. I really should get some Scotch Guard and spray them with that.

I watched some TV after that and then decided to do some raking and clean up around the curb. I filled a large black yard bag three fourths full and then realized I couldn't lift it into the trash container. So I bound it up and turned the trash container on its side and drug the bag into it. Then I set the container up again. I will leave it out there at the curb until Tuesday when the trash people come. All that was exhausting!! But, I got some exercise and that was good. Now it's after 4:30PM and the news is not on...sports are on.

I called Nancy again and sure enough she had taken a nap. Having those five people here for two weeks was exhausting to her...especially since all of them constantly gave her orders. That would drive me crazy!

In a day or so, after she has had an opportunity to rest up, I will go over there and visit with her and she can tell me about their visit. Later though.

It is after 5:00PM now and I wonder if the news is on. I guess I will go check.

More later...

They had a football game on and I just turned it off .

I am watching the channel 6 news right now. It is nearly 6:30PM. At 7:00PM or thereabouts, I will take my bath and put my pjs on. I will try to stay up until 9:00PM but I may not make it.

Friday and a Real Mess

I have had a cricket chirping for several days in my den. I will be sleeping in there on the daybed while Dean is here next week so I needed to find the little noisy critter and either kill it or put it outside. So, after I had my breakfast I took that daybed apart looking for it. I spent an exhausting hour looking for it and never did find it. Amazing..I took all the bedding off it and pulled it out from the wall and pulled the trundle out and took it apart too. But I never did find the cricket. It chirped the entire time I was looking for it but I could not find it. Of course, it took me twice as long to put that daybed back together and the bedding back on it ....all for nothing. Needless to say I am exhausted.

I slept well last night and I have had my breakfast and have really broken a terrible sweat with that mess ...all for nothing.

I took enough time out to put the food out for the cats/kittens. I will need to go out to Dollar General and get some more cat food today. And if it is ready enough I will need to have the yard mowed sometime this weekend. I will need to get some money out there for that too. For $1.00, I can get some cash for the mower who mows for me.

At 10:00 tomorrow morning I want to go downtown and celebrate with the Rudy and Kathy their 50th anniversary of the year they bought the Montgomery County Chronicle . They have a couple more weekly newspapers too...I assume they still have them. One is headquartered over at Sedan. I believe it is called the Sedan Times Star.

I will need to be back here at 11:00AM tomorrow in time for the practice of Sunday night's virtual church service. I hope I can get that done in time.

More later...

I got the apartment all dusted with furniture polished dusters. Everything shines now. I did it all during commercials. It's 9:00AM now and the reception is at 10:00AM tomorrow. Now, I have a while to watch the CBS news.

More even later...

It's 11:20 now and the mail may have come. I will go check. and be back later.

There was no mail yet. I fixed myself some lunch and ate while I waited for the mail to come. I am also watching a Dateline episode.

More later....

One of you reading my blogs asked me several weeks ago on September 16th to tell you what I thought of Bob Woodward's new book about the Trump administration.  "Rage"... I read the first four chapters this afternoon and I have to say it is extremely well written but it puts fear in my heart. I suggest each of you who asked me about the book, find/get a copy of it and read it. It will prepare you for the elections in November. You will either decide to vote for Trump or decide once and for all NOT to vote for Trump.

Trump began the interviews by telling Woodward "I bring Rage out. I do bring rage out. I always have. I don't know if that's an asset or a liability, but whatever it is, I do."

He was so right about that.

Before he was inaugurated Trump was told by two very knowledgeable men when they were discussing the national security threats,  that the biggest national security threat of his presidency would be the coronavirus. Robert O'Brien, the national security adviser was the first to tell him that.

Matt Pottingen, the deputy national security adviser also warned Trump about that. Pottinger had lived in China seven years and he was authoritative and carried great weight. A china scholar, he spoke fluent Mandarin. He had been a Wall Street Journal reporter there during the SARS outbreak. He was a highly decorated former Marine intelligence officer and coauthored an influential report about the inadequacies of the U.S. intelligence agencies. The Journal had submitted his work for a Pulitzer Prize.

Trump asked if this was going to be as bad as the SARS epidemic and the expert told him not to think about SARS, but to think about the 1918 influenza pandemic which had killed 50 million people worldwide..675,000 of them here in America.

Trump thought they had pretty much shut it down.

I have to take a rest from reading it and cogitate about what I have read.

More later...Dan Coats, a "born" again Christian was asked to be director of National Intelligence.  It was a hard decision to make because he knew Trump was not a Christian,  But he and his wife prayed about it and decided that God had called Coats to take the job and meet the challenge for the sake of the country.  The "Access Hollywood" tape Coats saw earlier in the Trump campaign with the lewd comments about women almost made him leery of taking the job. And he considered the comments "inappropriate and disgusting". That made the decision even harder.  Pence, the vice president to be was also a "born again" Christian and he had talked to Coats about taking on the job.

These remarks may make you decide to read the book for itself...and this is just in the first four chapters. They also include the nominations of Tillerson and General Mattis.

I guess I will eat my banana since that is my supper.  And I haven't heard any more from the cricket. I am hoping I may have accidentally killed it in all my probing with the handle of my mop. But I didn't think so since I had never seen it...only heard it.

More

I am watching the CBS news now. That's always a challenge because one never knows what outrageous thing Trump will do or say now. It is 5:50PM now. I will plan to take my bath at 7:00PM and go to bed at 9:00PM.

Thursday and House Cleaning

I slept pretty well last night and was up early as usual. I dressed and had my breakfast and coffee and even my chai before I fed the cats/kittens. They were there in force..as usual.

This is the day I clean. I do that during the commercials on Channel 6 and sometimes if they are repeating the same news over and over again, I clean during their programming...like now.

CBS news is starting now so I will get back to this after awhile.

I left the desktop computer and am in the recliner in the living room watching the CBS news and have the notebook on my lap here. After they start repeating the same news for the next hours audience, I will vacuum the dining room. That's all I lack except for the dusting.

The president, who is no scientist, and who made terrible grades in college, rejects all the scientist's reports of when the pandemic will be over and even the value of masks. The president is mistaken. He is even having another open and packed rally in Wisconsin tonight.

And Barr is just as bad. He says only about a dozen black people were killed by police last year..when over 250 were killed.

More later...

I will be so glad when this election is over and will be absolutely heartsick if the president is re-elected.

I got all the vacuuming and mopping finished and now only have the dusting to do. If I don't get that done today I will do it in the morning.

I want to go to the reception at 10:00AM tomorrow at the community room downtown. Rudy and Kathy Taylor are celebrating 50 years of owning and publishing the Montgomery County Chronicle..our local weekly newspaper. It has four times as much news as either the Reporter from Independence or the Journal from Coffeyville. Their son, Andy, is the editor now.

I have a practice of Sunday's morning's worship service at 11:00AM tomorrow morning so I will need to get right back for that. I have the oblation remarks at that virtual Zoom service on Sunday.

I heard from one of my classmates that the husband of the classmate that died two weeks ago, died himself of Coronavirus this week. He was in a nursing facility with Alzheimer's disease. Nursing facilities are death traps during a pandemic...in my opinion.

I walked up to the post office (eight blocks there and back) to mail a letter and could really tell I had been sitting around since February. I need to do that more often if I am going to stay mobile.

I have played FreeCell since I got back from the post office. It's just about time for the news so I will move into the living room and turn on the TV again.

More later...

I read some more and then watched some recorded programs on TV. I even put on Amazon Prime and watched some 48 hours there .

At 9:00PM, I went on to bed.

Wednesday and Breakfast in Coffeyville Again

I slept fairly well last night. I woke up around 4:00AM and really didn't get back to sleep until 5:00AM when I just got up. I had my coffee and even some oatmeal. It will be awhile until Bob and I go to breakfast and since all I had had for a supper was popcorn. Besides no one gets fat over breakfast. It's what we eat after 4:00PM and snack on that puts on the weight. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I will pick up Bob at 7:00AM this morning and we will go to Eggberts there in Coffeyville for our breakfast. I will go out to Woodshed and buy gas but I won't need to go to Walmart since I went there when I went to Independence yesterday with the cakes.

I will get my hair done at 9:30AM and pick up my blood pressure med at the Medicine Shoppe there in Coffeyville.

When I get back to Caney, I will stop at Sonic and have their Wacky Pack child's lunch for $2.18. Then for supper, I will just have a banana.

I may read this afternoon and try to get through this latest "free book" from Amazon. It is interesting but kind of science fiction.

More later...I have fed four cats/kittens this morning and all but one of them are gone now. I want to get the food in before the ants find it.

More later...

I left at 6:30AM to pick up Bob for breakfast. We went to Eggberts for a light breakfast and a visit

I went out to Wash World and washed my car, dropped by Karan's to leave newspapers for the animal shelter, and stopped at their Dollar General for paper towels to dry off my car.

Just as I was getting ready to go to the beauty shop, Toni called me to say her mother-in-law had developed the virus. She had not been around her when she had any symptoms but had taken some stuff over to her garage sale last week. She didn't know whether I would be comfortable having her do my hair this morning or not. I was already over there and just at the corner where her shop was located so I told her I would wear my face mask and have her wear hers and have her do it this time. That's what we did. She wore her face mask and I wore mine. I am hoping she was not exposed. If she develops the virus for some reason I will do my own hair for awhile in the shower. She is not sure whether her mother in law had the virus then or not. She had no symptoms then and none until yesterday. Now the mother in law has lost her sense of taste and smell.

The mother in law and her husband are quarantined now.

We will just wait and see.

I have started my laundry now. When it is finished washing I will put it in the dryer.

More later...

I got the laundry done, folded and put away. I fed the cats that congregated for lunch. I went out to Sonic just as I planned. After all where can you get a lunch for $2.18.

I did get hold of Amazon and they downloaded the book I didn't get on my Kindle and only on my phone.

I finished the book had been reading on my Kindle. It was called "The Enigma Cube". It was kind of science fiction but entertaining. It was written by Douglas Richards. If you like science fiction, you will enjoy that book. Now next I will read "Rage" by Bob Woodward. I will not start it before Saturday though. Tomorrow I will be vacuuming the apartment and mopping the floors.  Friday I plan to dust again.

It is 4:20PM now. I am watching the channel 6 news.

Now I am watching the Country Music awards.  They are being held in Nashville for the first time. They are done without an audience this time.

 Image may contain: cat

These little fellows are making a place for themselves on my mat at the front door.

It's nearly 7:00PM so I will go take my bath.

Tuesday and Cakes in Independence

I got up at 5:00 as usual and have, dressed and had my  breakfast and coffee and am now working on my chai. At 6:00 when I opened the front door it wasn't long until five cats showed up for breakfast. Scruffie  ran off one of the yellow cats when she had eaten all the food in her bowl and then she started in on his.

I took another bowl out for him. She was really grouchy this morning. She must have been extra hungry. I don't believe she showed up for supper last night. That might have been the problem.

At 8:30  this morning I will leave for Coffeyville to pick up the other three cakes. Mine is in the freezer here. I will take them all to Independence to the First Christian Church for their dinner this evening. I believe it's a pick up dinner since we are still in the throes of the Coronavirus.  They are avoiding crowds.

After that, I will pick up my prescription for my thyroid med at Walgreens. Then I will have lunch at Big Cheese. I am going out to Walmart there to get my groceries before I come back home.

By then it will be afternoon and I will probably read in my latest "free read" book from Amazon. I have ordered the Kindle edition of Bob Woodward's new book, "Rage". I got it for $14.95. I am not sure when it will be officially released.

More later...

I left at 8:20AM and drove over to Coffeyville to the bank first to get some money. Then I went to Bob's to pick up his and Karan's cakes. From there I went to Phyllis' to get hers and then on to Independence. There I delivered the cakes at the church and then went on to Big Cheese where I sat in the car to wait for them to open...and I read my Kindle. When they opened I got my personal pan Pizza, afterward went out to their Dollar General Store and got my bubble bath and then on to Walmart to get my groceries. I saw Jan Elias there and she recognized me before I recognized her. She is still so pretty. She wanted a hug and she is so neat that I couldn't even think of refusing her....facemask and all.

I bought nearly $50. worth of groceries. And I got back home shortly after 1:00PM. I got an awful lot done.

More later...

I read most of the afternoon and also watered the flowers. I fixed some popcorn for something for dinner.

I started to watch "The President and the People" but it turned out to be a monologue. Trump wouldn't let the moderator even speak and he never stopped talking long enough even for "the people".

Monday and Nothing Much Going On

I slept fairly well last night and was up at 5:00AM as usual. I have got myself ready for the day and had my breakfast and coffee and am working on my Chai now.

I don't have a plan for today. Everything is pretty much done. The apartment is clean until Thursday when I will clean it again. The cake for tomorrow is in the freezer and I will go to Coffeyville in the morning and take my frozen cake and pick up the other three and then take them all to Independence to the First Christian Church.  Then I will go by their Walmart store and buy some more frozen meals and some things I could not get at Dollar General yesterday evening.  The zipper on my new freezer bag broke this last week. I may take the big one Schwan's left here for me last Thursday while I was at the doctor's office.  That's all tomorrow. Then Wednesday is my hair appointment.

Thursday is cleaning day. Friday I clean up anything I didn't get done on Thursday like the dining room and then dust the apartment.

More later...

I talked to Keith, my eldest son, yesterday and they had tried to go to church last Sunday and sat alone away from others.  A man came and sat next to them. They asked him to give them some distance and he refused. They had to move to the balcony where no one else was  sitting.

Pitiful that the man wouldn't honor their request. They didn't go yesterday.

After the mail came, I watched a couple of Dateline programs on Amazon Prime and had my lunch . I ate my last frozen meal. Tomorrow I will  pick up the cakes at 9:00AM and take them on to Independence and then eat lunch at Big Cheese and go to their Walmart to get some groceries I couldn't get at Dollar General here.

Then I will come back home.

I watered and trimmed my flowers. They are about done. Especially the ones in the back yard pot. The heat was really hard on them this summer. I watered them morning and night and deadheaded them but they look pretty scraggly now. I should plant some bulbs I guess.

But the large flower bed looks very good. That's where I would plant bulbs.

Suzanne came this afternoon and told me that Derailed Commodity would be coming to measure for the new flooring she has ordered. Two of them came and got everything measured. I don't know when they will come to lay it but they will call Suzanne when they get this apartment scheduled. I told her I was going to have company on September 24th, 25th and 26th. That's when my classmate, Dean, will be here. Other then that, anything will work out.

I recharged my Kindle and afterward I could not get the logon would not come up. I rebooted it but that still didn't work. I contacted "Help" at Amazon. They said I need to hold the button in for 40 seconds. I tried that and that worked!  So I have my Kindle again!

After they left I started watching the CBS news. I will take my bath at 7:00PM and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM.

Sunday and Online Church

I slept well last night and got up shortly after 5:00AM. I dressed and got myself ready for the day and had my usual breakfast. Then I fed five cats/kittens. I used the kitten food Suzanne gave me last week. They loved it! They ate every little bit. I may buy that kitten food from now on. It's still Meow Mix, just a different combination.

I have been watching my every Sunday morning programing.

Scott called awhile ago and we had a good conversation. It seems my granddaughter, his daughter, has the coronavirus. She has lost her sense of taste. She is isolated at home and not in the hospital. She is continuing her classes online from there. Scott is going back to North Carolina to work his business. His boss puts him up in a hotel while he is there. Ginger will join him the on Thursday. She will help him by calling on potential customers. He will do the climbing up on roofs to check for damage. Jerod, his son, is working with him now.

I will watch the CBS news at 9:00AM. It is 8:15AM now.

John and Leslie are leaving today for Roaring River.  John's 66th birthday is Monday. They will stay awhile. I forget exactly when they are coming back. It may be next Sunday. They are taking Kiki and Mini with them. John's brother-in-law will feed and water the cattle, the other dogs and the puppies.

I may bake and freeze the cake for the First Christian Church today.  That way it would be done early.. That

I watched the church service at 11:00AM. As usual it was very good. Those in Independence Missouri did not have their sound on though so we had to read what they were saying.  That was unusual. Usually it is very professionally done.

So, more later...

I got that cake baked and iced. I put it in the freezer when it was cool too. I will go over to Coffeyville on Tuesday and pick up the others' three and take them all up to Independence to the First Christian Church. I am happy I have mine done though.

One of Krystal's daughters is here mowing now. I had to run out to the Dollar General store to get some change. All I had was two twenties.  She charges me $25.00 so I needed the change.

More later...

I went out to Dollar General and bought a few things I had on my list. That gave me the change I needed. After she mowed and left I trimmed  and cleaned up my mess. I noticed she missed a spot next to my front flowerbed so I took the mower over there and mowed it.

It 6:00PM, I watched 60 Minutes and the interview with Bob Woodward and afterward took my bath and put my pjs on and watched some Dateline shows I had recorded. I went to bed at 9:00PM.

I was going to read in my Kindle but the logon will not come up. So I read on my phone. I don't know what I can do about the Kindle. I really want to read from it. I re-charged it but that didn't help. It won't open the logon so I can't get to my book.

It's always something.
