Saturday and Dusting

I slept well last night after finally getting my checkbook balanced yesterday. I was up at 5:00AM as usual, got my bed made and myself ready for the day. I am eating my breakfast here in the den as usual. It is 6:05AM now.

As soon as I finish my breakfast I will go check out "the weather on the 8's" and the cats. Scruff was the only one who came for breakfast yesterday.

I will dust today. I never got to it yesterday what with the book and the puzzle.

I got in the living room and the TV on just in time to catch the weather.

Today is to be 78 degrees and thunderstorms and wind, Sunday is to be 69 degrees and showers, Monday is forecast for 67 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 70 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 75 degrees and mostly sunny,  Thursday s forecast 74 degrees and scattered thunderstorms, and Friday is to be 77 degrees and thunderstorms. Doesn't look too hopeful for the week..only two days of sunshine. Well, it is April.. and April showers is right on. It's 6:27AM now.

Scruff was the only one who came for breakfast today as well. She ate well and left so I put the cat food back in the garage and covered it.

It's 7:50AM now and I just got back from the market. I bought my and Mike's cookies for Independence's First Christian Church's dinner Tuesday evening.

I will take them all up there on Tuesday morning before I go to Bartlesville to visit Nancy and take her to lunch.

I guess I had better get the dusting done before I forget about it...again.

I got Phyllis and Karan reminded about the cookies.They both appreciated the reminder. Mike gave me money for his last week.

It's starting to rain now. It's a good thing I got to the market when they first opened..

O.K. I got the apartment dusted again. That's it until next week. And it's almost 9:00AM. Maybe I can work on the puzzle again...or read. I had to charge the Kindle again last night. But it should have a full charge again now. Maybe I can download some more books now.

I got the puzzle finished and what do you know! It was a brand new puzzle and it was missing one piece,

Oh well, I got it finished in one and a half days.

I couldn't think of a thing I wanted for lunch so I fixed myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Just for something to do, I went out to Myrtle's Market and looked around.Then I did the same thing at Jody's. I didn't find anything I was interested in buying...thank goodness. I will need to hold on to as much of my money as possible so I can pay my rent on time. I won't get my social security until the 10th of May next month.. It was the 13th this month. It's always the second Wednesday of the month.

The wind is blowing terribly hard and it rained this morning. It's supposed to rain tomorrow too. I dread that. I will have to drive over to Crossroads in the rain. Furthermore, Krystal is supposed to mow tomorrow afternoon and she won't be able to do that if it's pouring or even if it has just been pouring rain in the morning. Ah Spring! It's so unpredictable! It's 3:45PM now.

Krystal mowed for me this afternoon and did a great job..as usual. I trimmed until the battery went down on the trimmer. I plugged it in and later took my bath and got my pajamas on and read my Reader's Digest. I took down the puzzle too and put it away. 

At 7:20PM, I took my bath and got ready for bed. I will go on to bed at 9:00PM.It has been a busy day. 

Friday and Apartment Cleaning Today

I slept well last night after finally getting my checkbook balanced. It turned out to be simply a double entry into my checkbook. I took the second entry out and had it balanced...with only one outstanding check. That was a huge relief. I had to go back to March when I last balanced the checkbook to find it though. What a mess! I had made such a mess of my checkbook that I copied the entire month over into another register and re-subtracted the entries. That's how I finally found the double entry.

Today I will clean the apartment! Then I will have everything done except to go over my sermon for Sunday. That will be a huge relief.

It's almost 6:00AM now. In a little while I will go watch "the weather on the 8's". When it is a little later, I will check on the cats and see if either of them have come for breakfast.  I will wait until nearer 6:30AM to do that. The landlords are not here today so I will not disturb anyone's sleep raising the garage door to take it out to the front "porch"area. At one time, in the first winter, I was going to feed them in the garage but Suzanne did not want me doing that.

Only once, right after I moved here, did I try to take it out the front door and then one of those farrow cats ran into the apartment and then was terrified and made a big mess running all over the apartment. I finally had to throw an afghan over it after I cornered it in a corner to pick it up and take it back outside. I learned my lesson from that experience.

Well, Scruff was the only cat that came for breakfast. She ate fast and quite a lot. She wasn't here for dinner last night so she was quite hungry.

I did catch the weather forecast.Today is to be 84 degrees and partly cloudy and windy,  Saturday is to be 80 degrees and mostly cloudy and windy. Sunday is to be 73 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 65 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is forecast to be 71 degrees and sunny and Wednesday is to be 74 degrees and mostly sunny, Thursday is to be 80 degrees and partly cloudy. That's the week.

 I will go watch Good Morning America now and see what is going on in our world. It's coming on at 7:00AM. I have given up on the CBS news. I don't enjoy Gail King.  For some strange reason she annoys me.

It's 9:30AM now and I have been working on my puzzle instead of my housework. I need to get to the housework so I will continue here later.

It's after 10:00AM now and I have finished the mopping and vacuuming except for the dining room and I need to rest awhile. I will have to pull the chairs out of the dining room and into the living room and kitchen to do the dining room rug and to vacuum in there.

So I'll give it about 10 minutes before I begin again and finish.

I see the wind is really blowing out there. The wind really sets my allergies off.

Alright, I got that all done. Now all I have to do is dust. After I rest again I.will get to that. 

I will read for awhile and rest up first. 

I called Lisa at the bank and told her I finally got my checkbook balanced late last night. She was glad to know that. She had spent an hour with me trying to help me find my error but it was something I needed to do myself. I was sure glad it balanced.

I couldn't decide what  to have for lunch so I went up to Mr.G's and bought a small butter pecan flurry. That will be my lunch.

Now I will get back to my book. 

I read until I was tired of reading and then I worked on the puzzle for awhile.  Then I noticed the time. It is 7:25PM and I have not yet had my bath. I will go do that now and get ready for bed. I won't go to bed until 9:00PM. That's my plan anyhow.

 

Thursday and a No Apartment Cleaning

I slept poorly again last night but am still feeling pretty good. I had such a good time yesterday and laughed so much at that play and enjoyed the visit with the person in the seat next to me, that I can manage to forget the problems I have encountered this week. I have decided if there's nothing I can do to change a situation, I might as well just accept that and not let it trouble me. Still it disturbed my sleep.

I will get my hair done today in Coffeyville. Toni moved my appointment from yesterday to today so I could enjoy my trip to Overland Park's New Theater comedy presentation. I really needed that.

I will leave here shortly before 8:00AM since my appointment is at 8:30AM and I have to go to the bank for money first. 

I have just finished my breakfast here in the den and set my dishes in the sink to soak. I will go check "the weather on the 8's" now and also check on the cats. It's 6:05AM and they might be out there for their breakfast.

I looked and so far...no cats.

When I get home from Coffeyville I will clean the apartment. After all, it is Thursday.

The forecast is pretty much the same as yesterday. I don't believe we had any rain yesterday and it was forecast. Now it's forecast for today too and 79 degrees, tomorrow is 84 degrees and partly cloudy and windy. Also dense fog today. Saturday 76 degrees and scattered thunderstorms and wind. Sunday's forecast is for showers and 71 degrees., Monday 66 degrees and partly cloudy and Tuesday 71 degrees and sunny. Wednesday 74 degrees and mostly sunny. Pretty dreary sounding week to me except perhaps Tuesday and Wednesday's.

Scruff finally  came for her breakfast and after she left,I put away the cat food and covered it. She ate plenty. I didn't see Blondie but I imagine his owner fed him. 

It's 7:30AM now and I am going to go on over to Coffeyville early so I can go to the bank too and take the newspapers by Karan's for the animal shelter and perhaps to Walmart for coffee and the rest of my groceries and next week's cookies for the First Christian Church.

I got my hair done and it feels so much better. I made that trip to Coffeyville at 8:30AM and then went back again later that same morning. I could not get my bank account to balance. I went back to the bank and they helped me. I found it balanced last month and took that over. I hope it works out. I never have that much of a problem.I just use the calculator on my phone. This month was a bear though. 

I ate the strawberry rhubarb pie I bought at Pies and Such in Bartlesville on Tuesday when Nancy and I went to eat out. After I ate my dinner I was too full for dessert. So I brought it home.

I went out to Walmart while I was in Coffeyville and intended to buy a few things there including bananas. But when I got out there it was pouring down rain so hard my windshield wipers couldn't take care of it. I didn't even bother to get out of the car. I would have got soaked. I came back to Caney and went to Dollar General and got what I needed. By then it wasn't raining here.

I never did get to the cleaning of the apartment. I will do it tomorrow. I have nothing else on the calendar for tomorrow.

Dean contacted me by e-mail this afternoon. He is coming the 18th,19th and 20th of May. He wants to check out his farm as usual and take me out to eat the entire time he is here. I told him Keith and Esther plan to come for a visit over the Memorial Day weekend the last of May.

I took my bath at 7:00PM and I hope to sleep better tonight. I will read until bedtime.

Wednesday and a Trip to Overland Park.

I slept very poorly last night and was up an hour earlier then usual. I will eat my breakfast here in the den as I blog...as usual.

I will probably leave for Independence a little earlier then I thought. I don't want to be late to catch the bus.

Yesterday was a hassle in more ways then one. I won't go into it here.

I will get my breakfast going now. I didn't eat anything at all after I got home from Nancy's assisted living in Bartlesville. So I am hungry this morning. I had my oatmeal and am drinking my coffee now. I brought my pie home from the restaurant in Bartlesville and will eat it later this evening. It's 5:06AM now.

I will go check on the weather. It's much too early for the cats. I will check on them closer to 6:00-6:30AM .

I just checked the weather and it's not good.Today the forecast is for 76 degrees and scattered thunderstorms and wind. Thursday the forecast is 81 degrees and thunderstorms,  Friday the forecast is for 84 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Saturday is for 75 degrees and scattered thunderstorms and wind. Sunday the forecast is for 70 degrees and thundershowers, Monday the forecast is for 65 degrees and mostly sunny, Tuesday's is for 68 degrees and partly cloudy. As I said...not good....

No cats came for breakfast and so I left in plenty of time to get to the bus. I really enjoyed the play and the food was very good. I also enjoyed visiting with my seat partner and got home at 7:00PM. I will soon take my bath and plan to go to bed fairly early.

 

Tuesday and A Very Busy Day

I slept well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. But the laptop computer was frozen this morning and I had to do a cold reboot to even get it going. Both my computers are very old and I struggle to even keep them going. Yesterday I had to do a cold reboot to the desktop computer and today it's the laptop.

I just finished my breakfast and will leave at 8:30AM to take the cookies to the First Christian Church in Independence for tonight's dinner there.Then I will go to Bartlesville to the assisted living there to visit Nancy and take her to lunch. It will be a very busy day.

It's only 5:50AM now so  I have awhile. I will go watch "the weather on the 8's" and check on the cats after awhile. I hope at least Scruff is there. 

And she was!! She is quite a bit slimmer..it's either because she has had a litter or because she is not eating regularly. Anyhow I am glad she came for her breakfast. She ate and left so I brought the cat food into the garage and covered it. She was evidently finished.

Then I caught the weather forecast. It was not good. Today is to be 64 degrees and showers, Wednesday is to be 74 degrees and scattered thundershowers and windy, Thursday 66 degrees and thundershowers. Friday is to be 82 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Saturday is to have 80 degree weather and scattered thunderstorms and wind. Sunday is to have 61 degrees  and rain and thunderstorms, and Monday 61 degrees and showers. Lots of rain in the forecast for the week!! It's 6:26AM  now. I have awhile until I leave for Independence. ..at least two hours.

I just got the cat food put away and 15 minutes later, Blondie showed up. His face looked like a dog has worked it over. Poor cat! But I brought the cat food out again and he ate his fill and left. I brought it back in the garage and covered it again.

About 8:30AM, I left for Independence to deliver those cookies. I got all the cookies in the kitchen there. Then I noticed one red bag had no cookies in it. I looked in it and there was a note to Leeann.  So I took the red bag back to our church and called Leeann to tell her about it. She will go by the church and check it out. It may be Johnna's. 

Then I went on down to Bartlesville to visit Nancy. We ate at Pies and Such in downtown Bartlesville. We also took a turn around Bartlesville and looked around. I would have washed my car but it was sprinkling and I didn't want to wash it and then have it rained on. I got home about 3:00PM. We had a good visit.

Sherry Epp called me just as I was coming into town. She wanted to know if I would mind sitting with a woman who was a single. I thought that would be fine. 

I will leave for Independence a little before 7:00AM tomorrow. That should get me there by 7:20AM.

When I got home, I started another puzzle and read awhile.

At 7:00PM, I took my bath and went to bed at 9:00PM. It was a very tiring day. Tomorrow will be too. 

I got to Independence in plenty of time to meet the bus. We had a fine trip up there to Overland Park and and the play was funny and the food was very good.

I got home about 7:00PM. I am exhausted and had a good time and a seat partner  that I enjoyed visiting with.

 

Monday and Laundry

I slept fairly well last night...only woke up twice and even then got right back to sleep after I got up and wrote myself a reminder note...

I forgot to tell Toni, my hairdresser, that I would have to change my hair appointment for Wednesday. I will be in Overland Park for the tour and a play and buffet dinner at the New Theater there. I had checked the calendar for the next week and realized Wednesday would be the 20th...the day of the bus tour. 

I  called her at 9:00AM to see about changing my appointment. First I'll see if she can do my color and cut next Wednesday instead of this Wednesday. She's booked three weeks ahead so that may be a problem. Next week she has me down for a simple wash and blow dry. I can wash my hair myself and blow it dry but it sure doesn't look the same as when she does it.

It's 6:37AM now and I have just finished my breakfast.  I changed my bedding this morning and am washing the sheets and my pajamas and underwear. I have everything in the dryer now. 

I threw away an old pair of shoes that had seen their day this morning.  I will miss those.They were my blue Clarks. I have two pair of black Clarks, two pair of brown Clarks and now no blue shoes. I may have to go to Brown's shoe fit in Coffeyville and see if I can find some new Clarks in blue. I wear a lot of jeans and I really need some blue Clarks. I always wear Clarks because I have an old failed bunion surgery on my left foot.  I have to have a wide shoe to accommodate it.

I checked on the cat situation and neither cat is out there for breakfast. That's certainly been strange lately.

More later...I am waiting for the "weather on the 8's". They certainly missed it yesterday. It was supposed to have rained and that didn't happen at all just a few sprinkles early when I fed Scruff.

I called Toni fifteen minutes ago and explained my dilemma with my hair appointment. She was very good about it and said she would try  to work something out by switching some appointments. I didn't have much hope of that because she is always so booked up for weeks. But she called me back fifteen minutes later and offered me a time at 8:30AM on this Thursday. I took that! The only thing I have going on Thursdays is to clean my apartment and I will still have all day to get that done. I was so grateful she was willing to work something out for me.

I went out to Eggbert's and ordered the senior hamburger steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. It was very good. That was my lunch.

It's 3:08PM and I have been reading this afternoon. I just went out and watered the flowers I had planted in among the bulbs..They look pretty good! So far, so good. It's 59 degrees so far today.

I had a problem with the new bank site today. I tried to pay my cable bill and the bill pay site would not let me post a payment or a date to pay. I talked to the bank and they could find nothing wrong with the new site and suggested I log out and then log back in....that worked!!! I got the payment logged in.

I see my landlord, Stephen, mowed this evening. His yard looks as good as mine now. :)

It's almost 7:00PM now and I will take my bath. Then I will read some more until 9:00 PM....my regular bedtime..

Easter Sunday and Breakfast at Church

I woke up about the same time as usual...5:00AM. I had had a good night's sleep though. I have dressed and am drinking coffee and will soon drink my Chai Latte. I have my coffee cake in the oven. It's been a long time since I have made it.  We are having breakfast at 9:00AM  before the worship service at church today at 10:00AM. Everyone is bringing something toward the breakfast. I certainly won't want lunch...that's for sure. There will be a lot of variety with the breakfast. The worship service will be one hour earlier then usual.

It's 6:24AM now. It's supposed to rain today. It's too dark to see anything now. I don't know if it rained last night.  

More later...I will check out the weather now. And the cats may be out there too.

Scruff was out there!!! She is considerably slimmer but then I have not fed her since Thursday so she may just have lost weight...not had a litter.

I will go watch her eat now. Blondie hasn't come yet. Since he sometimes eats at home, that's not surprising. 

She didn't eat long and then she was gone. I wonder if she had her kittens. She was a quite a bit slimmer. She may have had to get back to them if she did.

I won't know unless she eventually brings them with her to eat. One of the cat's litters did come with their mom one time and that's why I found one dead in the street that time.  I scooped it up with my snow shovel and buried it that time. I believe Scruff was a part of that litter.

The coffeecake is out of the oven now and cooling so that I can put a glaze on it. It cooled so l got that done.

It's almost 8:00AM now and I am going to leave for church and be sure everything is ready for the breakfast. It will take me about 30 minutes to get there.

We had a great breakfast and a full house for church..thanks to Kelly's family. They filled half the congregation.

I got home at 11:00AM since we had our breakfast at 9:00AM and our worship service  at 10:00AM.  I cleaned up what I could before I left. I was having trouble with my left dry eye and needed to get some drops in it..I need to buy some Systane to eave in my car for such emergencies.  

I had a couple of pieces of coffeecake left and I will.save them for Nancy on Tuesday. I will take the cookies to Independence at 9:00AM on Tuesday and then go on to Bartlesville for my visit and lunch with Nancy after that.

 Mike gave me money this morning and asked me to buy some cookies for him and take them with me on Tuesdays. I was happy to do that. I was grateful that so many of our congregation provided cookies, It is a good thing that we are able to help the First Christian Church in Independence with their service project. Independence churches have a free meal in one of their churches every night of the week. The Baptist Church provides one meal on one evening, The Catholic church does it one night, the Presbyterian church another night and a group called the "friends" does it another night. I think that's all the churches that participate...maybe the Episcopal church does it too ...I forget. Anyhow, it is a free meal for as many as want it. The First Christian Church  used to do 200 meals every Tuesday but due to the pandemic, they are down to 55 now.  They used to have us bake cakes for their meal but now they just serve cookies for dessert....perhaps with fruit or pudding. I will have to ask on Tuesday. 

It doesn't appear we got any rain this morning...just a few sprinkles when I  took Scruff's food out to her. Maybe we will get it later on this afternoon.

I have been working on the puzzle this afternoon. It is 1:47PM now and I am tired. I may get my Kindle and read awhile. It may need charging again. I haven't been notified yet though.

It's 4:00PM now and I have been reading all afternoon. I am going out to Dollar General to see if they have any Systane out there for my dry eye. I have some in my purse but I need some in the bathroom too.

I will be back to this later.... 

I found Systane at Dollar General this evening. I also bought Mike's cookies while I was there.

I lost track of time this evening and missed the Mission Center service. I was reading. 

I just took my bath and am charging my Kindle now. I just barely got my book finished before it needed charging.

I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM.
