Saturday and Reading and the Puzzle

I slept exceptionally well last night and wasn't up until 6:30AM. I didn't even get up once. I am dressed now and having my breakfast here in the den. It's 7:24AM now. It's so late, I just now checked for the cats and neither of them are out there. Scruffy must be very hungry unless someone else is feeding her. ..or maybe she is catching and eating birds. Who knows..It's been two days since I have seen her.

I don't really have a plan for today. I got everything done Thursday and Friday.

I will read today and also work on that puzzle. It's doozy!!

More later..I will go watch the news now. 

I watched the news and also worked on the puzzle for quite awhile. Then at 2:00PM I went up to the market and bought some chicken strips and okra.for my lunch. Their chicken strips are really good and I like fried okra too. I will have some tea with it after I finish the lunch. 

Then I believe I will read now. I am tired of working on the puzzle for awhile. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. It's still breezy though.

I've been watching The Masters. I believe they are down to the last day.

I worked on the puzzle after that for an hour and a half. It's 8:25PM now and I need to take my bath and get ready for bed at 9:00PM. I have church tomorrow so I will need to be rested.

 

Friday and Dusting

Again, I slept well last night and was up around 5:00AM as usual. I have made my bed and am dressed and just getting ready to have my breakfast here in the den. I will get my dusting done today.  I didn't get that done yesterday when I did the rest of the housework but I have nothing planned for today except dusting and reading. I would like to work in the yard but it may be too chilly and windy again today.

The Schwan's man came yesterday and brought me a couple of frozen meals. They did not have my usual ice cream bars. They have not had them for several weeks. He put them on back order. I also gave him my new debit card number. I don't order much from Schwan's anymore. They are just too expensive and I can get frozen meals at the market much cheaper. And to me they are just as good. And a couple of times a week, I like to eat out.

It's 5:55AM now and I will go check "the weather on the 8's" soon. And I will also check on the cats after that. They are usually here about that time.

So far, no cats and it's 6:21AM. I did get the weather forecast. We are under a freeze warning today and it's April 8th. And today will be 57 degrees and partly cloudy and windy. Tomorrow will be 72 degrees and sunny, Sunday  is forecast to be 81 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Monday is to be 82 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is forecast to be 84 degrees and scattered thunderstorms and wind, Wednesday's forecast is 76 degrees and thunderstorms and wind, Thursday's forecast is 61 degrees and partly cloudy

Not a great forecast for April. But I guess April showers is about right. Tomorrow might be the best day to work in the yard.

Blondie came but did not stay. He evidently had been fed at home. I haven't seen a thing of Scruff. It's mystery. As big as she is, she might have had her kittens. Time will tell.

Scruff never did come for her breakfast.

It's 11:00AM now and I am thinking about just having a TV dinner for my lunch at noon.

I read most of the morning until the Kindle needed charging again. I have it hooked up to charge now.

I had one of my Schwan's dinners for my lunch.

And I got Keith and Esther's puzzles today and started working on one of them and it is a doozy! It's 3:04PM now and I have been at it ever since the mail came at noon. 

I never did get to the dusting. I will either do it now while I rest or in the morning. I will play that by ear. 

I got the dusting finished for the week. It was more of a job since I never got around to dusting last week. 

My Kindle is charged now so I will go read on my latest book. 

It's 3:32PM now.

Stephen texted me that on Monday the man that sprays for bugs will be coming  to spray here. He sprays their Owasso home too. I will plan to stay home on Monday to be here for him. 

It's 6:27PM now and I have been working on the puzzle the last hour or so. It's a tough one.

I checked outside and neither cat is out there. I am more concerned about  Scruff. She didn't come for breakfast and now she's not out there for supper.

At 7:00PM, I will take my bath and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM as usual unless I get wound up in that book and stay up later..

Thursday and House Cleaning Day

 I slept well last night although I went to bed later then usual and I was up shortly before 5:00AM this morning. I am dressed and having my breakfast here in the den as usual. I don't know what the forecast is for today but I have it on a photo on my phone. In a little while I will go check "the weather on the 8's" just as I do every morning and I will check on the cats too.Blondie is the only one that came for supper last night. Scruff never showed up for her supper.

I will mop the bare floors and vacuum this morning. I will dust tomorrow unless I come up with some more energy. I cleaned up the leaves around the front flowerbed yesterday afternoon. I did most of the back flowerbed and around most of the fence on Monday. Before I can mow again, I will need to get gas. Leslie and I put all I had left in my can from last fall in the mower when she and I mowed that Friday. Next time I go to Miller Brothers I will take my gas can and have them fill it.

It's only 5:44AM now. I will go check out the weather. Back later....  

I see the desktop computer is frozen and I had to do a cold reboot. 

It finally came back up restored. That's good. It's the computer that is connected to the printer. 

Back after I check the weather... 

The weather looked about the same as yesterday's forecast. Windy for the next few days and rain Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Blondie was the first cat to come and he ate what he wanted and left. I left the food out there just in case Scruff came later and sure enough, she did. She ate her fill and when I went out to bring in the dish, she showed up again and ate some more and drank some of that fresh water I had put out there yesterday. She finally left and I took the food into the garage and covered it.

It's 7:00AM now and I will go watch the CBS news. I changed my mind. I am watching  "Good Morning America" instead. CBS shows the same news every day as if they had no new news. 

I got the mopping and vacuuming finished and emptied the sweeper. That's done for another week.and it's just now 9:16AM.

I think I will go down to Copan Restaurant this noon and have lunch. It's only seven miles and I really like their small chef salad. I finished up my chili last week.

I did drive down to the Copan Restaurant and have their small Chef Salad. It was, as always, very good. 

I will go back to my book and it's overcast now. It's too chilly to be outside.

It's 2:27PM.   

I have been reading all afternoon. I also went to the market to buy a few things.

It's 7:10PM now and I guess I will take my bath and read until 9:00PM, when I usually go to bed.

Wednesday and Bunco at the Senior Center

I slept well again last night and was up shortly after 5:00AM. I made my bed and dressed and go myself ready for the day. It's 5:58AM now. and I am having my breakfast in the den as usual.

In a little while I will go check the weather and also check on the cats.

I will leave this morning for Coffeyville around 8:30AM. My hair appointment is at 9:00AM and later I will perhaps get a pedicure before going to the senior center at 1:00PM. I will take my Kindle so I can read while I am waiting. I downloaded three more free to read books last evening. 

Scott called me this morning and he is in Virginia with Ginger as she is taking a class for her job as directer of the school she directs. Scott says they will be going to Grand Canyon this summer.

More later...

I got over to Coffeyville at about 8:30AM. I got my hair done and then went to the post office after that and bought stamps. Then I got a pedicure. It had been awhile. 

Next I went to the senior center and sat out front in my car and  read my Kindle until time to play Bunco. I won the $10.00 for the most Buncos. That was a first for me. I had 4 Buncos. I got home about 4:00PM. I stopped at the Sonic here and got the Wacky Pack for children for $2.18. That's two good sized chicken strips, french fries and a tiny Coke. 

I did some raking of leaves out by the front flowerbed.  I need to move the car out of the garage tomorrow and sweep out the garage again.

It's a little past 4:00PM now. I will probably go back to the book I have been reading until bath time. 

It's 7:28PM now and I am going to take my bath and plan to read until my bedtime at 9:00PM.

A Trip to Bartlesville to See Nancy

I slept well last night but was up a little earlier then usual but then I went to bed earlier then usual too. It's just now 5:07AM and I have just finished my breakfast bar and are starting on my oatmeal. I have got myself ready for the trip to Bartlesville.

Jess, Nancy's friend, who used to check on her now and then came by yesterday evening  to tell me that Dale is showing Nancy's house. I will not tell her because that would just upset her. She really wants to go back home but that isn't going to happen. She simply can't live by herself anymore. With her memory problem it would be way too dangerous. She wouldn't remember to eat and she wouldn't remember to take her meds. And if she fell down the stairs, no one would be able to get to her since she always locked the front and back doors and also the storm doors.

I promised her I would bring her to Caney today to see what all the new businesses were that are going in around town..especially the Blackledge building. She also wants to go to the bank and get some money and perhaps a new debit card like the one Dale took from her. She feels completely helpless without any cash and a debit card and her checkbook. Dale has those. Dale pays her utilities out of her account. She won't have anywhere to use those things but it will keep her from feeling so helpless. 

It's 5:25AM now. I will go turn on the TV and see what the weather is forecast to be today. In a little while I will also check on the cats.

The weather today is supposed to be 75 degrees and cloudy. 

So far...no cats. 

Around 6:30AM Blondie showed up for breakfast and ate awhile and left when he was full. Immediately, after he left Scruff showed up and ate too.When she was finally full, I took the food into the garage and covered it.

It's 6:45AM now and I will watch  the news when it comes on at 7:00 AM. It's 8:10AM right now. I watched all the CBS news I could stand.  

I left for Nancy's at 9:30AM and got there about 10:00AM. I  let her choose the house shoes she wanted and then waited for her to dress so we could go on the Caney. We went to her house when we got there but it was locked up..As I expected it to be. She looked for the hidden key to her back door but it had been found (probably by Dale) and the key she had would not work. He may have changed the lock....who knows. I did not tell her Dale had been showing her house. I knew that would upset her. 

From there we went downtown and looked at the Blackledge building.They still were not finished with the unfinished part. I bought us a Dr. Pepper and looked over their progress on the building.  Then we drove around town and enjoyed the lovely sunny weather. At noon we went out to Eggbert's and ate lunch. She say several people she knew and visited with them as they came and greeted her. That was nice. I learned from Larry, the man that had done the work for Nancy when she had apartments, that Ila Gregg, a woman I knew from the dental office, had died of ALS..a terrible progressive disease.It's a nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function.In this disease, nerve cells break down, which reduces functionality in the muscles they supply. The cause is unknown and.the main symptom is muscle weakness. 

Medication and therapy can slow ALS and reduce discomfort, but there's no cure.

Stephen Hawking, the brilliant scientist,  had this terrible disease for years and died of it a couple of years ago.

From there, I took her back to Bartlesville to assisted living there. We had a very good visit..even though she didn't get to see the inside of her house.

I told her I would see her next Tuesday. Then I went by Walmart there and bought gas. It was $3.47 a gallon . 

Then I came back home. 

While it was still pretty warm, I cleaned up the back flowerbed. Then I got some of the leaves out of the front hedge. I will work on that when it is warmer.

As soon as the program I watching on the computer is over, I will take my bath  Then I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM.

Monday and Laundry

I slept well again last night and only woke up once. Then I got right back to sleep again. I was up at 5:00AM and stripped my bed and washed the sheets. I dressed and got myself ready for the day. The sheets are in the dryer and now I am eating my breakfast here in the den.

The only plan I have for the day is to read. Or, if it's nice enough, I may clean up the little bit of leaves in the yard that the mower didn't get..along the edges of the apartment. I cleaned out the front flowerbed yesterday afternoon. I'd like to do the hedge too. It's has a mess of leaves under it. It depends on the weather. It's 5:32AM now and I will go check "the weather on the 8's" and also see if there are any cats out there waiting for their breakfast. Scruff has been coming earlier anymore.

It's almost 10:00AM and I have been reading all morning in my latest book.

I don't have any other plan for today. According to my phone it's 54 degrees out there and it has been raining.

I went up to Independence to look into buying some bedding plants. Winkleman's is only open Thursday and Friday from 9:00AM till 4:00PM and Saturday and Sunday from noon until 4:00PM. So I didn't buy any there. I stopped by the Independence Yard and Garden Center and they were open but the woman there said it may be too early for bedding pants because we have had snow on Easter before. So I will wait a little longer. 

I stopped at Big Cheese and had a mini pizza and a root beer for lunch. I am full.

David Harkin texted me to say Wednesday is Bunco at the senior center and I texted him back that I would plan to be there..I will have to go to the market to get a treat for Bunco. I need half and half also and Williams chili powder too..

I went to the Caney Market and bought what I needed. I asked them if they were going to carry bedding plants like they did last year and the clerk didn't know. She said if she heard anything about it she would let me know next time I was in.

 So more later...

I have read all the rest of the afternoon and finished that third book. It's almost 7:00PM now and time to take my bath. I plan to go to bed at  9:00 as usual. I will be going to Bartlesville tomorrow to visit Nancy and take her to lunch.

 

 

Sunday and Church

I slept well last night and was only up once. I got right back to sleep and slept until 5:00AM. I was up and made my bed and dressed and getting my breakfast together by 6:16AM. I will go over to Coffeyville before I go up to church. I need to go by the bank and get some more money for the week before I go out to church. I had taken the dirty dish towels to wash after that dinner we had after the baby shower and will take those back in and put them away.

I also like to see that the church is clean before church at 11:00AM.

It's almost 6:30AM now and I need to go check on the cats and perhaps watch "the weather on the 8's" too. 

I will get back to this later.

The only cat that showed up was Scruff. Not a sign of Blondie again. She ate all she wanted and left and I put the cat food away in the garage.

It's 7:49am now and I am doing a small load of laundry now. I needed to wash my jacket, towels and underwear.. I am wearing a black cardigan sweater this morning for additional warmth.

I just put that load in the dryer. That jacket is very wet. I hope it can get dry alright. We will just have to wait and see. It's in there with my towels and underwear. I may have to hang it on a hanger in the shower to dry..over the rod there.

I watched the ABC news...same old,  same old, news. Lots of violence everywhere it seems.

What do you know! That soaking wet white jacket of mine got completely dry! It dripped water when I put it in the dryer. The towels were dry too. And, of course, the underwear was too. I always put that in those little mesh bags I get at Dollar General. So I put it all away. It's 8:45AM now, and around 9:30AM I will leave for Coffeyville to go to the bank.... then on to the church.

When I got to Coffeyville, the drive in you go to withdraw money from your account was down...for the third time. I had to drive nearly to town to withdraw the  money for the next week from another machine. I got what I needed and then went on out to the church. I put away the dishtowels I had laundered and did some minor cleanup before John and Leslie came. 

We had a small crowd but Leslie's service was very good. It was the communion service and she was very well prepared.  We were missing Mike and Laura but Mike was working out of town and Laura doesn't come without him. Billie Jo wasn't there either and neither was Johnna or the Stevenson family. Otherwise, everyone else was there.

Rick, Carmen, Becky, Karan, Phyllis, and I went over to"Just  Us" for lunch. We had a very good lunch! I drove Phyllis and Karan back to the church where they picked up their cars and  drove back to Coffeyville. I then went on back to Caney.

I have read on the blogs and posted on my own ever since. I have played a game on the computer and solitaire on the new phone.

It is 4:20PM now..almost time for the news... and 60 Minutes at 6:00PM. I will record that. My Kindle is still charging or I would go back to the latest book I have started. At 6:00PM, I will try to get on Zoom to watch the Mission Center church service. Sometimes It's almost impossible to get Lora to let me in even though I have the correct password. She is evidently very busy and distracted.

It's 7:02PM now and I have watched the Mission Center worship service and now it's time for my bath. And I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM.
