Saturday and Laundry

I slept well again last night even though I woke up several times in the night. I was able to get back to sleep. I am dressed and getting ready to have my breakfast. and my coffee. It's 6:10AM now and 16 degrees outside. I haven't checked yet to see if there are any hungry cats outside. I will do that next and also turn on the TV to the weather station to "the weather on the 8's".

So more later...

Inky and Blondie were out there waiting for their breakfast. I went out to the garage and filled the dishes and raised the garage door for them. It's so much better to feed them in the garage where it's dry and there's no snow to freeze their little feet.

I haven't checked to see if they are still out there. I saw the neighbor's big yellow cat (Blondie's father) but I ignored him. He can either eat there in the garage or go home and eat.

I don't have a plan for today except for the laundry. I will start that soon.

More later...

I checked and the two cats are still in the garage eating off and on. I think they want to stay in there where they are out of some of the cold. At least it's dry out there in the garage.

I will start my laundry and check the garage again later.

They really wanted to stay in the garage but if that becomes the thing to do, I will need a litter box or the garage will become a mess.

They finally left the garage and hopefully went back to their shelter across the street. I really would rather they would not live in my garage. When they left, I put the door down again. I will need to pick up the food dishes before I can use the car...when I take the car out of the garage to get that part installed that Josh, the mechanic, ordered for me at 10:00AM.   It's 8:02AM now so I have awhile.

I read until shortly before 10:00AM and then went up to Josh's garage. They worked for thirty minutes and then Josh came in and told me the part they had ordered was not working  and he had sent one of his employees to Dewey to buy another one. He said he would call me when the young man came back with it.   So I came on back home to wait for his call.

In the meanwhile, I put the laundry in the dryer and got it started on drying my clothes.

Oh well...I had nothing going today anyhow except that sensor installed.

So, more later....back to my book on the Kindle.... I finished this book and downloaded three more free books.

I am still waiting for Josh to call me back and it is 3:21PM now. He may not get that done today. There is no rush as far as I am concerned. I will have $65. more money if he doesn't get it done.

More later....

Josh never did call me back. No big deal! I am $65.00 richer now.

About 3:30PM I called Nancy again and she answered on the second ring.  We decided to take a drive and I went over to pick her up and she was getting dressed and putting her makeup on. We are going toget out in this lovely weather. We went up to Independence and drove around and also came back to Caney and drove around too. We stopped at Sonic and she bought us two junior hamburgers and two cokes and we took them back to her house to eat them. Laura came as we were doing that and gave Nancy her meds and visited with us awhile. She is a very nice woman and a nurse.

I came home about 6:30PM and took my bath at 7:00PM. I will read until bedtime and go to bed about 9:00PM.

Friday and a Hair Appointment

I slept pretty well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I dressed and had my breakfast and am now drinking my coffee. It is 6:19AM now and I had better go check and see if there are any hungry cats out  there. I also want to watch "the weather on the 8's" and make sure I can get over to Coffeyville by leaving here at 8:00AM. So after I get those things done, I will get back to this.

I had three cats out there waiting for me to open the door. It was Inky, Blondie and my neighbor's yellow cat. No Scruffie yet. I filled all the   bowls and put them down behind my car. Then I opened the garage door. They are used to being fed in the garage now. They don't have to stand in the snow by eating there. I worry about their little feet.

It's 6:41AM now and I won't leave for Coffeyville until 8:00AM. I have texted Bob to be sure he is alright but I believe he is staying over to Joanne's and he hasn't answered me yet.

I haven't seen the "weather on the 8's" yet but it may have come on while I was feeding the cats. It should run again in a few minutes.

Sure enough it's on now. Minus 2 degrees this morning. And we're supposed to get rain tomorrow. If it's still freezing out, that will mean ice.

I just checked on the cats. They were finished eating so I put away the bowls. Inky was still in the garage but was finished eating. When I opened the door, he ran out to go across the street to the shelter there.

It's shortly after 7:19AM now so I still have almost an hour before I leave for Coffeyville. It's 1 degree out there now. It's supposed to be in the 50's next week. I am looking forward to that.

More later...

I was going to order some gloves from Amazon but they would not accept my password and wanted me to change it...again. I just changed it last week when I went through that mess after being scammed. I didn't want to change it again.

But no matter. I went on to Coffeyville and got my hair done by Toni. Then I went out to Walmart to get some gloves. I don't know what happened to my gloves. At one time I had three different Naturalizer pair....one for each coat. None of them were in the pockets of those coats. I went to the Coffeyville Walmart and they had no gloves but I did get my bananas. I needed my makeup base anyhow and had to go to Independence to get that so I thought I would just stop at their Walmart and check it out. The Merle Norman store there is going to close but if I order from them, they will deliver my order. One of the women that owns that store lives in Owassso and comes right by Caney every day. That will work out.

I got my makeup base and then went to Walmart to look at gloves. They had some and they were very cheap but just what I needed. I bought a pair there for under $2.00.

Then I went up to Big Cheese but their parking  had not been scraped so I instead went to Ana Mae's and had their sandwich and chips and iced tea. On my way home I tried to text John to see if he was home. I figured since it was a nice day he was probably out delivering his product. I figured right. I had intended to stop to see the puppies if he or Leslie were home. He later texted me back to say neither of them were home. She might have been helping him with his deliveries.

Anyhow, by that time, I was home.  Then I managed to get the Amazon password changed and it worked. Earlier this morning I just didn't have time to mess with it. As it was, I just got to my appointment on time.

I opened the front door to a very hungry Scruffie. I went into the garage and filled a couple of bowls (in case another cat came) and opened the garage door. She ate all she could and left so I put away the bowls and closed  the garage door.

Now it's 1:00PM and I might try once again to reach Nancy. Her line was busy. I may try again later. It's 1:15PM and she is still on the line. I may try again later. It's 32 degrees and sunny now. The sun sure looks good!

More later... Sometime after  3:00PM I went over to Nancy's and rang the doorbell several times. Sure enough, she had left the phone off the hook. I went in and visited with her until 6:30PM when I came home and took my bath and put my pjs and robe on. We had a good visit though. We agreed, depending on the weather, we would go out of town and have lunch next week..Monday or Tuesday if the weather cooperates. Otherwise Thursday or Friday. She is so lonely and so am I. When we have a visit we both really enjoy it.

I plan to go watch the CBS news...which I recorded. Then read awhile and then go to bed about 9:00PM. I took my bath at 7:00PM already. I have had a big day.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept pretty well last night. I woke up several times after midnight but managed to get back to sleep until the next wakening.

I finally got up just before 5:00AM and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I had my breakfast and coffee and am now working on my Chai.

I will clean the apartment this morning when the commercials come on the TV..as usual. That works out well for me. If all I get today is local Tulsa news about their roads and the future weather, then I will watch the CBS news on my desktop computer. Too bad...I am paying for TV but have to catch the national news on a computer.

I am still waiting for the "weather on the 8's" on TV and it's well past 8 minutes after the hour. It's 6:13AM.

When I opened the front door this morning Inky and Blondie were waiting for me to bring them their breakfast. I filled the bowls just inside the garage overhead door and then opened that garage door so they could  come eat out of the snow area. I don't know whether any more of the cats have come to eat or not. Yesterday they didn't. Just Blondie and Inky came over. They didn't stay long and went back across the street where there was shelter.

More later...the "weather on the 8's" is on now.

I see it's supposed to rain on Sunday and by Monday it should be up to 52 degrees according to the "weather on the 8's".

I checked the garage to see if the cats were gone and only Blondie was still in there so I left the garage door up. When I peeked out, she/he ran into the snow outside the garage. I couldn't let that happen so I called him/her back in and left the door up for awhile more.

If it doesn't warm up today to melt the snow on the highway, I will have to wash my own hair tomorrow instead of going over to Coffeyville to have Toni do it.

The battery on my notebook is almost dead. It goes to battery saver when I unhook it and take it to the recliner to use it. I dread trying to put another battery in it. I used to do that when it was my old Dell laptop.

Sure enough I am having to watch the CBS news online again. They are still covering the "local" Tulsa weather news on the TV.

More later...

Amazing! The CBS news is on the TV. Of course, I have already seen it on the computer  earlier. Aggravating!

I am back on battery saver on this notebook.

I checked the garage again a couple of minutes ago and both Inky and Blondie are still in there eating and out of the snow. I left the door up again.

I got the bare floors mopped and the carpets vacuumed. I am always amazed at how much dirt is in the sweeper when I finish since I take off my shoes when I come in on the carpets. I can't figure it out. It may have a lot to do with my allergies since house dust is one of my allergies.  Oh well, I can't do anything about it so I may as well just put up with it.

I'm going to check to see if the two cats are still in the garage. More later.

They weren't still there so I put the garage door down. Halfway through the afternoon Scruffie showed up at my front door. I went out and filled a couple of the bowls and opened the garage door. She ate until she was filled and then went back across the street to her shelter. She didn't show up earlier this morning but I could see she was hungry. After she left I put the garage door down again.

I called the city to see if I could get our street cleared off so I  could go out to Dollar General. A short time later the guy with the John Deere blade came and cleared it all off so could get out of the drive. I had shoveled some snow away from the porch area, the sidewalk and part of the drive so I could go out to get my mail earlier. I then went to the Dollar General and bought $26.00 worth of groceries. When I got home, I called the city and thanked her for such prompt service and asked her to tell the young man who cleared it off "thank you" too. She said she sure would pass the word on. It never hurts to thank people for doing something like that.

It's a beautiful sunshiny day today. I may try to call Nancy.

Well, I tried but she never answered.  She is probably sleeping again, She sleeps her life away.

I watched the CBS news and then went back to my latest book, At 7:00PM, I took my bath and read some more and then went to bed at 9:00PM.

Wednesday and Another Cold Day

I  slept pretty well last night and don't recall having to get up in the night at all. I was up at 5:30AM which seems to be the time I get my sleep out.  Of course, I went to bed about 8:20PM. I was very tired.  I don't know why because I spent most of the day reading. I am very bored.

With all this snow on the ground I should not go anywhere. I hope Friday will be better. I have had my Wednesday appointment changed to Friday. If that doesn't work out, I will wash my hair again myself. It's so short that isn't a big problem except I can't get the shower to work and have to wash it under the faucet in the tub.

I have had my breakfast now and my coffee and chai and even a cup of hot chocolate.

I will go turn on "the weather on the 8's" and see if anything has changed. So, more later....

Nothing is changing for a few days. There are still outages but so far I have not lost power. I opened the front door this morning to Inky  and Blondie. I opened the garage door and fed them in there out of the snow. I left the door up.

I had shoveled off the drive and porch area yesterday afternoon but there is 3 to 4 inches of new snow on both now.  That's why I fed the two of them in the garage right behind my car where there was no snow. It's 10 degrees out there right now. But that beats below zero temperatures like yesterday.

More later..

I went out to see if the cats were still in the garage and I saw Inky and Blondie just running across the street through the snow to their shelter at the house across the street. I put the garage door down.

I was going to watch the CBS news but the "local"  Tulsa news preempted it.

I went into the den and turned on the CBSnews.com so I could see some national news. I watched that until time for my lunch when I warmed up the last of my soup and crackers and that's what I had for lunch. I washed my bowl and the casserole dish I warmed it up in.

Now I am watching the noon news on Channel 6. I see the temperature is up to 21 degrees here.

After the noon news is off I will go back to my Readers Digest I was reading last evening. When I see Bob, I will give it to him. We will see how Friday looks. That's when I have my hair appointment. If the snow has melted, which I doubt, I will go have Toni do my hair. Otherwise, I will wash it myself under the faucet in the tub.

I checked a little while ago and the cats are still gone so I closed the garage door again.

It looks like they had eaten their fill.

I see Rush Limbaugh died today of lung cancer. He was 70 years old.

I got my new Chase Amazon credit card today. My old one was hacked and I had to cancel the account.

I read all afternoon and finished another book. Then I started another one. By 8:00PM this evening, I finished it.

Then I took my bath and got into my robe.  It's only 8:00PM  and too early to go to bed. I will try to wait until 9:00PM.

Tuesday and Another Very Cold Day

It's -11 degrees this morning and I just can't seem to get warm. I woke up cold and my furnace was set on 68 degrees. Evidently Evergy had the electricity off during the night because even though I have the furnace running, it doesn't seem to be doing much to warm this place up. I may have to put a sweater on.

I have my Chai now. Maybe that will warm me up. It's just now 5:40AM and I guess I will go turn on the TV and see what the weather channel has to say on "the weather on the 8's".

It's 6:00AM now and the temperature just dropped to -13 degrees. I checked outside the door and there are no cats out there. There are some cat tracks in the snow but they must have given up on me opening the door and gone somewhere to shelter. Poor things! I have their food in the garage but they have not found the garage door up so they could find it.

And I did go put a sweater on. I still am not very warm.

I have been streaming and watching the CBS news on my computer. The only thing available on the TV is the Tulsa news...who cares about the Tulsa news?? and they seldom ever give any Kansas news. For Kansas news in this area we have to rely on radio.

It's a little after  9:00AM now. I recorded "Bull" last night so I will go watch that. Hopefully the Tulsa channel 6 didn't take over the 9:00PM hour with their local weather news. I will go check.

"Bull" was on and I watched it..thank goodness! It was different.

It's a little after 10:00AM now and I don't know what to do next. So far, by the way, I haven't heard the crickets this morning. I hope they froze. Time will tell. I guess I will go back to my latest book on the Kindle. By the way, it's up to -4 degrees now. No cats around yet either. They will be very hungry if no one else is feeding them.

At lunchtime,I had some more of the broccoli cheddar soup I fixed last week...with crackers and cheddar cheese and some of that punch. It was good. Afterward, I had an ice cream bar for dessert.  I will have a banana this evening for supper.

Toni, my beautician, called this morning to change my appointment to Friday at 8:30AM because of the weather. We still have snow but the worst thing is the temperature.  It is 7 degrees now. I have read my Kindle, had lunch and played a game on my computer. I watched the CBS news on line by streaming it. The Tulsa TV stations are only interested in Tulsa news.

I think I will go back to my book and get it finished this afternoon.

I read awhile and finished the book. The sun is shining brightly so I went out and shoveled the snow off part of my drive and sidewalk. I don't believe I got any mail. I didn't see any tracks from the mailman's mail cart.

It's only 9 degrees outside but the sun is shining brightly and I have a sweater on so I didn't bundle up. When the sun melts that snow on my glass topped table on the patio in my back yard, I will bring it into the garage...along with the chair out there. It's a little past 3:30PM now and I am tired of reading.

I managed to get that glass topped table and yard chair in and wiped down with a kitchen towel and then put them into the garage. I had meant to do that before all the snow but didn't get to it. Now it's done.

I don't think we had any mail today. For the second week in a row we had no trash pickup. Their trash trucks are diesels and they can't start them in very cold weather.

It was nearly 4:00PM before my mail came  this afternoon and a strange woman delivered it..not my regular mailman.

It's nearly 5:00PM now and the weather says it is 10 degrees. In about an hour and a half I will take my bath and plan to go to bed around 9:00PM.

Right now I am watching the 4:00PM news...local Tulsa news, of course. I am hoping at 5:30PM they will have the CBS news. If they don't I will go stream it on my desktop computer.

I began another book and read until 7:00PM and went to bed at 8:30PM

Monday and More Snow and Cold Weather

I slept pretty well last night although I was very early and stripped my bed and remade it and am doing laundry. I will finish dusting today too.

I have had my breakfast and am working on my Chai now. The laundry is still going so soon I will turn on "the weather on the 8's". I believe it snowed all night but until it gets light outside, I can't tell how much we got.

I believe I will feed any cats I may get for breakfast in the garage. I will just open the door for them. There won't be any snow in there. It will be cold but no snow will be in there. It's -6 degrees this morning. I can't remember the last time it was this cold in southeast Kansas.

More later..I will go turn on the TV.

It is very cold and so far there are no cats out there to feed.  It's just too cold for them to be out at -6 degrees. Their feet would be frozen if they weren't frozen themselves. I hope they have found some shelter somewhere.

More later..I'd better get the laundry in the dryer.

That's done.

I have texted Bob but haven't heard back from him yet. It's so cold he may not even be out of bed. He spent yesterday at Joanne's and had his car in her extra garage.  That's good since it snowed all day.

I opened the front door at 7:30AM and the only cat there was Inky. I opened the garage but Inky did not come to the garage through the snow.  So I brought the double bowl out front to him. I am sure his feet are terribly cold. And I had shoveled it clear yesterday but it snowed all night so that was a futile action. Inky is still eating out there, the only one who came to eat. When he is gone I will shovel it off again. It may be futile again since it is still snowing. We will see.

He must be very hungry since he is still bearing the cold to eat.

Inky finally left. He was licking his feet since they were so cold and I imagine that just made them even colder. Anyhow, he finally left and went to find shelter and then I took my snow shovel out and cleared off the little porch area and sidewalk again. It is bitterly cold at there at 6 degrees BELOW zero.

I finally got the clothes out of the dryer and folded and put away.

I read all afternoon and finished my latest free Amazon book.

Now I am trying to find some national news. The only thing you can find on channel 6 Tulsa...is Tulsa news. They don't seem to realize they have Kansas watchers too and we could care less about Tulsa news.  They have even skipped the CBS evening news.

I haven't seen another cat all day. It's (minus) -1 this evening.

Now Evergy is asking us to cut use of our power to conserve it. They are even going to turn off our power on rolling blackouts for 30 to 60 Minutes at a time. This has never happened before in my lifetime.

I have had my banana for my supper this evening. And the cricket has been chirping again all afternoon while I was reading.

In about 30 Minutes I will take my bath and put my pjs and robe on. Perhaps I can stay warm that way. That worked!

I went to bed at 8:30PM. That helped too.

Sunday and Snow Today

I slept in my own bed last night although I left the trundle out...just in case. I slept pretty good although I did wake up several times...I got right back to sleep. I had my sleep out by 5:00AM and just got up and dressed and made the bed and got myself ready for the day. As soon as I got into the bathroom though, the cricket started chirping again.

I have had my breakfast bar and coffee and am about to eat my oatmeal and fix my Chai.

There may be several crickets in the house. While I was in the bathroom it sounded like one was up in the attic area though the heating duct. Now there sounds like he is in the bedroom. All I have read about them says they have to have water...but I have no idea where they would find water in this apartment. I don't leave any water setting around anywhere.

I haven't looked out yet since it's pitch dark out there to see if it snowed like it was forecast. It's just now 6:25AM and not light yet. I guess I will go turn on "the weather on the 8's" and see what the forecast is now.

So, more later...

I just looked out and it appears it snowed some last night...although not a lot...at least not yet. I haven't opened the front door yet but somehow I doubt there will be cats out there. It is 3 degrees out there. Wow! I will definitely stay in today.  I am glad I got so much done yesterday. I still have to finish dusting today. Everything else is done.

More later...

Inky and Blondie were out there for their breakfast. I filled the dishes and raised the garage door and they ran into the garage and then I took their food dishes out the front door. The little porch area is filled  with snow. When they are finished eating I will take the broom out there and sweep it clean. Their feet will be frozen soon but they are very hungry and are bearing it. Poor things! I should have fed them in the garage with the door up. Maybe I will do that until the snow is gone from now on. I have always been afraid the cats would get under the hood of my car and a catastrophe would happen when I turned on the motor.

I took my snow shovel out and cleared the little porch area as well as I could considering it's still snowing out there.

I took the cat food out to the garage and left the door up so they could get to it. They aren't going to brave these temperatures for food. I  lowered the door since they were not out there and I didn't need the cold air.

I put away the trundle too. If I need it tonight, I can pull it back out.

More later...

I spent some time this afternoon sending out the name of another classmate I have lost. Then I had to go through the lists on two computers and update the numbers. I then had my lunch finally... at quarter past two. We started with 294 classmates and are down to 109 now..with 156 deceased and the rest just lost over the years as they have moved away and not let us know where they have moved. Some are probably dead but I don't know how many.

I have been reading my Kindle but it needs charging again. It seems like every time I read in it any time at all, it needs to be charged again.

The cricket is back to chirping again. I hope it quiets down before I am ready to go to bed.

It's only 4:33PM now so it may be awhile.

I was hoping to watch the news but channel 6 has had weather on nearly all afternoon. And it's all about Oklahoma news....nothing local to us or nothing national...just Oklahoma weather. Disgusting!

Earlier I had to catch the CBS news streamed on the computer.

I read my latest book until I finished it.. at 9:00PM, after I had had my bath at 7:00PM, I went on to bed.
