Different Saturday

I got up at 3:30 to go to the bathroom and noticed my face was red and swollen. I also had a sore arm. I took an Aleve for the arm so I could go back to sleep.

At 5:30 when I awoke, I was startled to find the bed was soaked and when I looked in the mirrors, my face was more swollen and beet red. I called Bob and got dressed. When he got here, just before 6:00, he took one look at me and said, "We need to go to the emergency room."

That's what we did. Dr. Christiansen, who was manning the emergency room, said what I had was cellulitis. A sinus infection had come through the skin and swollen my face and caused it to be beet red. They gave me 50 MGs of some sort of antibiotic IV before releasing me. The doctor said it will get worse before it gets better. I don't know what to expect. The literature says my face could peel or I could get a secondary infection. This could be a real mess.

Do you wonder that I don't have much use for doctors? I had just seen Dr. Gillis yesterday morning at 9:00. He said what I had was just a "common cold". I knew better. I was blowing blood every time I blew my nose and huge pieces of what I thought could be sinus tissue came out once or twice a day. At the least, I thought I had a sinus infection and an antibiotic would help that but he was determined that it was just the "common cold".

Doctors!

Friday Again

Well, it's Friday again. My cold seems a little better but the left nostril is still blowing blood and tissue and my glands in my neck are swollen. I will see the doctor at 9:00. But first I have my hair appointment at 7:00.

I paid my February rent at the apartment yesterday. The appraisal is tomorrow sometime between 2:00 and 5:00. I hope the house appraisal appraises out. If it doesn't, I'll just have to bite the bullet and accept whatever it offers under the circumstances.

Bob just called and for some reason he wants to come take me to my hair appointment. I told him that would be fine if he wanted to do that. He intends to rent that four room house across from my apartment in March. The landlord wants him in there instead of a family with children. The apartments are all filled with widows and single women.

I want to begin taking the boxes I have packed over there as I can find the time each morning. If I continue the exercises Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, I will just have to do it on Tuesday and Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Little by little I will get the things unpacked and put away until only the stuff I am using every day will be left to pack. I will still have to sell my refrigerator, mower and trimmer and the tools in the shed and garage.

I want to keep my power washer, air compressor and leaf blower. I can store them in the shed at Bob's little house. Then he and I can both use them. I want to go through the boxes I have stacked in the garage again now and bag up everything I will just throw away. There are old meds that my Bob bought and used. I imagine most of them are expired anyhow.

My daughter is going to have to have major back surgery. She met me at the apartment before her doctor's appointment yesterday morning to see the apartment. She called me afterward to tell me the diagnosis. I wish she would get a second opinion. They intend to fuse some of her vertebra. One of them is completely blown out. It sounds serious but she is one of those people with a very high pain threshold and has just been living with the problem. Now it is causing numbness and something has to be done.

Wednesday Evening

It has been hard to find the time and energy to blog this week. The cold has really pulled me down and it's quite different. Every time I blow, blood gushes out. I have begun using something to keep the tissue soft and protected until it can heal. Every once in awhile when I blow, a large piece of tissue also comes out. I don't know what's going on so I am going to the doctor on Friday.

This afternoon, my new landlord called to say the apartment is ready and he is ready for rent. I still haven't closed on the house but if I want this apartment, I will need to give him the rent anyhow. I will go pay him in the morning. Then I will begin taking some of my many boxes over and storing them in the closet in the den. I will need to contact the firemen and see if they are still moving folks on their off time. If they're not, I'm not sure how I will get my furniture moved. I won't worry about that right now. I don't want to move my furniture until I have closed on the house.

This morning before I went to exercise class, I vacuumed the house and dusted the bare floors. I also cooked the potatoes to have them ready for lunch. Then I went over to the apartment and measured the windows for blinds. I want to use Roman blinds so Missy will not get into the floor length drapes and fragile curtains underneath and tear them up.

After that, I went to exercise class and afterward to get coffee. I have no exercise class tomorrow. It's Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00 till 10:00. I won't go on Friday because of my doctor's appointment.

Bob left a little early this evening. He was getting sleepy. I was too but Missy was on my lap and she was sleeping too. After he left, I took my bath and put my pj's on.

I will see Bob again in the morning when I go to pay my rent. He met me this evening at Brahms. I couldn't think of anything that sounded good after work. So I had a milk shake. Bob wants to see the house he is looking at again tomorrow too.

A Monday Workday

It's back to work today. I hate to speak too soon but it appears the cold has begun to heal. It has been a very strange cold. When I blow, I blow blood. Every so often, a chunk of skin tissue also comes out. I don't quite know what to make of it. I've thought of going to the doctor and explaining that to him. But he and I are not on the same wavelength so I hesitate to do that. I am trying to avoid blowing today. Maybe my nose will heal.

This should be my last week (Wednesday) in my present office situation. Aime is supposed to move me by Thursday but she has not contacted me with an interview yet.

We are going to have meatloaf today. I may fry some potatoes or I may just serve them boiled. That would be healthier. We will have veggies with that meal. Bob will bring salad. I still have chocolate pudding and some cookies for our dessert.

I notice the landlord of my new fourplex was working yesterday afternoon on the carpet. I didn't stop in to see for that reason. If they are not working on it today, I may go see what they got finished yesterday this morning.

More later...

Another Horrible Night

Last night was even worse then the one before. I couldn't breathe through my nose at all and finally got up to lay in the recliner in the living room. Sometime in the night, I went back to bed and slept until 5:30. When will this cold ever clear up?

I really am not up to church this morning but I should go to be supportive of the others. After we eat lunch, John and Leslie and the others will go see the apartment. Then I will come home and do my letters and try to get a nap too. Bob will be over at 5:30. We plan to watch the Superbowl. We watched a good movie last night with Denzel Washington.

I ate a couple of biscuits this morning so I could take my meds. The others I put in a zip lock bag and in the frig.

More later...

We watched the Superbowl this evening and were happy with the outcome. However, the lights went out for thirty minutes and it wouldn't surprise me all all to find it was because of all the pyrotechnics associated with the halftime show.

My cold is still pretty bad and it bleeds when I blow it. What a mess!
