Saturday and a Bad Night's Sleep

Well, that was a short lived good sleep . I tossed and turned most of the night and finally just gave up and got up at 4:00AM. Between the concern about the free Starkey hearing aid problem (finding a hearing aid agency that will participate in the Starkey Neighbors in Need program) and the fact that my printer is not working, I just couldn't stay asleep. I had  sat on hold on the phone waiting to be connected to the Cox Complete Care program until the phone finally died and I had to give up to charge it. Then I just went on to bed. I slept pretty well until 1:30AM when sleep was finished for the night. I have to get that printer working again. It prints one thing...and that's it. Just a blank piece of paper with one word on it. I can't get anything to print from Word. I just get a little blue circle and can't get out of Word from then on. The only way is to restart the computer.

I finally got hold of Cox Complete Care and I lost the first person I had connected with. So I tried again and got a woman named Stephanie  who managed to get the printer going again. She had me turn off the printer and then turn off the computer and let them both rest for at least 5 minutes. I printed off a couple of things when I turned them back on and that worked. She said she had done nothing special at all but they both worked after she was on that computer.

Whatever works!

It's 6:17AM now and I will fix my breakfast and turn on the weather forecast on the TV.

I found the cats ready for their breakfasts, Scruff came first and she kept watching for Blondie. He finally showed up too and they shared the dish of food. They are still eating.

I am waiting for "the weather on the 8's" to come on now. It's 6:38AM now and it may come on after this segment of the weather moves on. It's past time now so maybe it will be  6:48 before it comes on.

Scruff has finished eating now and left but Blondie is still out there but has finished eating. I will leave the food out there just in case they want to eat some more.

I finally caught the weather forecast. Today will be 44 degrees and rain, Tomorrow will be 41 degrees and cloudy, Monday will be 45 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 42 degrees and PM rain and snow, Wednesday is to be 42 degrees and cloudy, Thursday is to be 45 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 47 degrees and partly cloudy. That's the week! We may get some moisture yet! Today..rain and Tuesday rain and snow.

I believe the cats are finished eating so I may as well go get the cat food and get it into the garage and cover it.

I called the number of Lowry Hearing Aid Company in Tulsa at 918-749-1113 but this is Saturday and they may not be open on Saturday.  I will call on Monday again.

I also called Freeman Hearing in Joplin at that number Morgan gave me 417-347-3746 but they were evidently closed on Saturday too so I left my name, telephone number and date of birth again on their machine and asked them to return my call when they are in the office again on Monday.

I will go make my Waldorf salad for tomorrow's lunch at church now. It is supposed to marinate overnight.

I went to the market and bought my apples for the Waldorf Salad and got it all mixed up and put it in a covered bowl and put it in the frig to marinate overnight. I had the pecans, grapes and raisins. I hope we can get it all eaten up. Much as I like it, I don't want to eat on it for a week.

It's 10:22AM now. Rain is forecast for today but so far I haven't seen any sign of it. We really need it.

The laptop computer says it's raining here but I just looked out and there is no rain here yet. The forecast originates in Coffeyville so it may be raining there already.

More Later......

Well, it's raining here now. I just drove down to Copan Restaurant and had a bowl of their vegetable beef soup. It hit the spot! Especially as cold and rainy as it is now.

I read the rest of the afternoon and finished my second library book. Then at 7:00PM, I took my bath. I may just go on to bed right away instead of waiting for 9:00...I had so little sleep last night

Friday and a Great Night's Sleep

It's great! I slept completely through the night and didn't wake up one time. I seldom do that. I had gone to the basketball game at the elementary school here in Caney with Leslie last night and went to bed at 9:00PM after I had had my bath and never woke up even one time until after 5:00AM. I made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. I am ready to fix my breakfast now at 5:54AM.

I don't have a plan for today. I don't even know what the weather is like today. I will have my breakfast and then check on the weather and the cats. I am anxious to learn if Kiki had her pups last night. The kids will not be up yet so I will wait until they contact me to tell me.

So More Later..

I had my breakfast and checked to see if the cats were out there...not yet! However the weather forecast did come on.

Today is to be 50 degrees and sunny, Saturday is to be 44 degrees and showers, Sunday is to be 43 degrees and cloudy, Monday is supposed to be 48 degrees and mostly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 41 degrees and rain and snow, Wednesday is to be 42 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday is to be 42 degrees and mostly sunny. That's the week! The rain and snow sounds interesting. Certainly we need the moisture and it's forecast for Saturday and Tuesday. Game Day at the senior center is Wednesday the 25th. It's 6:33AM now. The cats should be out there.

And they were...First Blondie showed up and then when I took the food out there, Scruff came to eat after he left. Then he came back and she left.  I don't know why she seemed intimidated. They eat together all the time. It's almost time for the CBS news so I will get back in the living room to watch that.

I watched the CBS news and then went to the Caney market for a few things I needed.

John texted me a photo of the six Corgi puppies Kiki had last night. I imagine he was up a good deal of the night over that. I would love to go see them but I am not even sure he would be home. He has his business to tend to too.

More later...

John was home and he let me come see the puppies. I took a photo of them. They were darling. They lost three of them though. One was unable to get out of the womb and John had to pull it out so the other two could be born. One of them was dead. Kiki would not push. He got another one out that was born dead and let Kiki out so she could have what she thought was a bowel movement and then saw her licking on something and discovered it was another dead puppy.  So they have 6 live puppies and three that were dead. She would have had nine otherwise.

They are all darling. He was going to heat the kennel so he could take them out there this afternoon.

I talked to my niece, Denise, this morning. She found out her brother, Dennis, is working for Carters Auto Service in downtown Coffeyville.

It's very pretty day and the sun is shining brightly. I will go make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for my lunch.

I had the peanut butter and jelly sandwich for my lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get an appointment with a hearing aid place that would honor my approval for the free hearing aids. So far everywhere I have called are not participating in the program.

Luckily I printed off the letter I got from e-mail from Morgan, who is in charge of the program because now my printer will not work at all. Always something.

I've called four different places even having been approved for the program but so far everyone has dropped out of the program.

More later...

I tried to print something off with the desktop computer and it will not print anything I try to print, I tired to contact Cox Complete Care to get it fixed and was on the line waiting for  an IT  until my phone ran down. So I hung up and plugged it in to charge. They must have major problems to be down all that time without a tech to help me. I'll try again in the morning. Maybe they won't be so busy that early.

I took my bath at 7:00PM and will go to bed at 9:00PM. In the meantime, I will read on my second book.

Thursday: A Hope to Find a Midwest Agency that will be a provider for the Starkey Free Hearing Aids

I slept pretty well last night and only woke up one time and then managed to get back to sleep fairly easily. I finally got up about 5:00AM, made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I hope to get an appointment today to get the new free hearing aides. I hope this works out although it seems too good to be true.We will soon know.

More Later ..I will fix my breakfast now.

I have had my oatmeal now and am just drinking my coffee. Soon I will go check out the weather forecast and the cats. Blondie came back last evening after I got back from Coffeyville and I brought out the cat food for him again.

I opened the front door and Blondie was there waiting for his breakfast. I took it out for him and he ate quickly and left. I will leave it out there for awhile just in case Scruff comes for her breakfast. It is 32 degrees out there so I see why he ate so quickly and left. That's pretty cold.

I am still waiting for the weather forecast. It may be up shortly...it is 6:06AM and it may come on in a minute or two.  The computer says it is 6:07.

A blond cat is back. It may be Scruff. She has grown so much, I can barely tell them apart. But when she eats, she looks around like she is looking for Blondie to come. He doesn't do that and this one must have been Scruff because that's what she did. She has eaten quickly too and left now too.

No, she is back now eating again...I am glad I didn't take the cat food in. She left again..it's very cold out there so I understand.

It's past time for the forecast this time. Maybe it will run this time when it becomes 6:18AM.

More Later...

Sure enough it did! Today will be 47 degrees and partly cloudy, tomorrow will be 50 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday will be 44 degrees and PM showers, Sunday will be 44 degrees and AM clouds and PM sun, Monday will be 50 degrees and  partly cloudy, Tuesday will be 44 degrees and rain and snow, Wednesday will be 43 degrees and partly cloudy. So we may get more rain...and we can sure use it!

It's 8:23AM right now and I am going to take my walk even though it's 33 degrees outside. Yesterday Marilyn gave me some brand new earmuffs she had never worn.  She bought two pair and neither one had ever been worn. I chose the brown ones. They will  keep my ears warm when I take my walks. What a blessing! That's the only thing that ever gets cold.

I got back from my walk at 8:54AM and again, I got a full sack of trash from the streets and even some of the yards. Many empty water bottles but lots of other paper trash too. What a tragedy! My hands got cold even with my gloves on but my ears stayed warm.

I called Leslie to see if she had been called with an appointment for the Midwest Starkey office in Independence, Kansas. I had talked to the woman in that Independence office and she told me she had called the main Starkey office and found that she wasn't a provider after all, They needed to update their website and take the Independence office off the list of providers.

We will have to go to a different office...perhaps the Fredonia, Kansas, or the Neosho, Missouri, office.

More later ...Leslie says she will check into it.

I went out to Eggbert's at lunch time and had a small Chef Salad. It was good and filling too. I am tired of frozen dinners or peanut butter and jelly  so a couple of times a week, I eat out at either Copan Restaurant or Eggbert's here in Caney. Then on Mondays I usually take Nancy out for lunch or for a small Brahm's milk shake. I make do the rest of the time.

It's 4:34PM now and soon I will go watch the CBS evening news. I never did get into my second book. I got sidetracked with solitaire. I have three weeks to read it and it won't take me more then two days to do that.

More later...

Leslie came by and picked me up for Cheyenne's basketball game this evening at 7:00PM. I really enjoyed watching the games. It gives me something different to do with the evenings. The games are on Mondays and Thursdays. So far they have been at 7:00PM.

Leslie says the Corgi puppies are not born yet. Kiki has had quite a time. She has been restless all day but the actual labor had not yet begun. Maybe they will be born tonight.

When she brought me home, I took my bath and put my pajamas and robe on and put lotion on my feet and then put my foot socks on.  It's nearly 9:00PM now and I will go to bed soon.

First I will put the blog on Keith's blog.

Wednesday and A Busy Day

I slept like a a log last night and didn't wake up even once...even to take my meds. I took them this morning when I finally did wake up at 5:00AM. I dressed, made my bed, and got myself ready for the day.

I am eating my breakfast now..here in the den, as usual. I am finished and am now just drinking my coffee. It's almost 6:00AM now and I probably ought to check to see if the cats are out there. And I also want to check the weather forecast and see if it rained last night.

Both cats were out there waiting for me to open the door and feed them. They are eating more this morning. Yesterday they barely ate anything so I just took the food in and covered it. They prefer the cat food with gravy but that's getting harder to find.

It has been raining and is sprinkling now. That may influence how many make it for Bunco this afternoon. I have an umbrella in the car so that won't influence me. I also have a plastic rain hat in there.

I will take my library book so I can read on it in the car before I go in.

I am still waiting for "the weather on the 8's" to come on. The cats have finally finished all they are going to eat and have left now. If they are finished I will soon take the food back in the garage and cover it.

I finally saw the weather forecast. Today is to be 62 degrees and AM rain, tomorrow is to be 47 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 51 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 46 degrees and  PM showers, Sunday is to be 46 degrees and AM clouds and PM sun. Monday is to be 48 degrees and mostly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 43 degrees and partly cloudy. That's the week. It looks like we are finally going to get some much needed rain.

I will take the cat food in now. They appear to be finished eating and have left for good this time. I see it is still sprinkling out there.

I did that and I also balanced my check book. I like to balance it daily so it doesn't get away from me.

I will leave for Coffeyville at 8:00AM. I believe this is my long appointment and sometimes Toni can get me in early. So I like to be there early. I can always read in the car outside the beauty shop if she is not ready for me. But she usually is. It's only 7:29AM now so I have a bit. I need to go to the bank too and get some money for the week

More even later...

I went to the bank first and on to Toni's shop. I had a little wait but not long. I was early because it was raining on my way over there and I was not sure how slick it would be. It wasn't slick at all but still I was cautious.

After I got my hair done I sat in front of the library in the car and read the book I began yesterday and finished it. Then I went on up to the senor center for Bunco. We played from 1:00PM until 3:00PM.We took a break halfway through the time and had our treats. Everyone seemed to have a good time. There were 11 of us.Two couldn't come because of the morning's rain. Marilyn was in pain with her back because of the rainy day and she went back to bed. After we finished our games and the winners were all paid, I stopped to visit her .. I took her my leftover treats. I got home in good time.

On the way home I talked to Leslie about an appointment for tomorrow at Midwest Hearing Aids. I was not able to reach them after I left Marilyn's. She was only able to reach the receptionist. And I got an answering machine instead. I left a message. I hope we can get an appointment for tomorrow morning. I would like to get to go to Cheyenne's basketball game again tomorrow evening.

I took my bath this evening at 7:00PM and it is a little after 7:30PM now. I will read on the second book I checked out of the library yesterday until 9:00PM. and then I will go to bed.

Tuesday and A Quiet Day

I slept very well last night and was not up until nearly 6:00AM. I made my bed, as usual, and got dressed and ready for the day. I don't have anything on the agenda today. Tomorrow will be busy. I will have my hair appointment in the morning and Bunco in the afternoon. I may go to the library here today and get some hard cover books. Kindle is charging me a little for their downloads usually $1.99. The library books would be free and just a few blocks away.

Scruff was here for her breakfast but she just ate a little and left. I didn't see anything of Blondie this morning.

I just finished my breakfast and am having my coffee now.

More later..I want to go check on the weather next.

Just as I turned on the TV, "the weather on the 8's" came on, I grabbed my phone and took photos of the forecast. Wow! that was pretty quick.

Today is going to be 63 degrees and mostly cloudy, Wednesday will be 62 degrees and AM rain,  Thursday is to be 48 degrees and mostly sunny, Friday should be 53 degrees and sunny, Saturday should be 48 degrees and PM showers, Sunday should be 49 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday should be 48 degrees and mostly cloudy. That's the week and I see the ice that was there in the forecast yesterday is gone now. What can I say....this is Kansas.

I took my walk about 30 Minutes ago and took a trash sack with me..thank goodness! It was packed full of trash from the street and people's front yards. More then ever before! I could have used two trash sacks. I have missed my walk for a couple of days and I could really tell it. The mess told it! I don't understand why these people don't have any community pride. It's a mystery!

More even later...

If it warms up enough, I will rake again. I will start with the back yard...again.The recent winds played havoc with my clean raked back yard. I had done  a little bit with the front but barely scratched the surfaces.

More later ....

I started working on raking the front yard this morning. I got about 1/3 of it done before I wore out. Then I went down to Copan Truck Stop and had their small chef salad for my lunch.  As usual, it was very good! I called Sally to see if she wanted to go too but she evidently was gone somewhere with someone else. She never answered her phone and I went by and rang her doorbell since her car was there but she didn't answer that either so I assumed she was out with someone else and went by myself. It's always a good healthy lunch.

After I got back from lunch, I started raking again in the front yard.  There were lots of leaves under the hedge and I did the best I could to get them raked out but I may have to use the blower to get the rest of them out from under that hedge. That will be a mess because they would bow over the part of the yard I have raked and cleaned up. I was going to use my Toro leaf vacuum but I hooked it up but could not get it to work. Aggravating enough...I used it last year and it worked just fine.

I got Kylie's birthday card back. I evidently used the wrong address. I will check my records and see if I have a different address on one of my computers. I thought when Christina gave me their new address, I put on my mailing list for birthdays and Christmas cards.

I will check. I see on facebook that Kyle made Major.

No, I sent that birthday card to the only address I had on my list. I must have forgotten to change it when she e-mailed me about it. What a bummer! I have tried e-mailing her. Maybe when she's free she will send it to me again.

I will go the the library now. Maybe I can find a couple of books there that I haven't read.

I did check out two books at the library. I started reading one of them this afternoon and read for an hour or so.Then I watched the CBS news and then decided to take my bath early. I just finished it and it's only 6:45PM. I worked hard today raking leaves in the front yard. I am nowhere near finished but I have a busy day tomorrow with my hair appointment early and I think it's my color and cut. Then in the afternoon, I have Bunco at the senior center and I am in charge this week. Thursday Leslie and I will go back to Independence and get the new hearing aides. It seems I did qualify for them after all.

I went to the market this afternoon and bought celery for my Waldorf salad for Sunday's basket dinner at church. I also bought a treat for tomorrow's Bunco. It's only 6:50PM so I probably go back to my book until 9:00PM when I generally go to bed.

Monday and Another Hearing Test

I slept poorly last night. I was concerned about the cost of my car insurance and whether paying it would leave me enough money to pay the rest of my bills. It's always something. Now I have a 10:00AM appointment to be tested at Midwest Hearing Aids in Independence for free hearing aides. If my income is low enough, they would be free. Leslie is going to meet me there to find out whether that is going to work. It sounds impossible and it may be if they don't consider my income low enough. We will see.

I was up and dressed by 4:00AM this morning. I slept terribly because I had so much on my mind. I am so tired of worrying about how to pay my bills. And now the bank wanted me to change my password, I came up with another one and I hope I got it right.

More Later..I need to fix my breakfast.

I made my breakfast and am now eating it here in the den. In a little while I will go turn on the TV and watch for "the weather on the 8's " and the cats. It's way too early for the cats to be out there. It's just now 5:53AM.

I did find the cats out there and took out their food abut 5:55AM. That's early for them. So far, no weather forecast. All they can talk about is the weather on the east and west coasts. I am interested in our forecast. ..."the weather on the 8's" for us.

It finally came on just as I was going into the den. I rushed back with my phone and the camera on it. I got there just in time.

Today is to be 63 degrees and mostly sunny, Tuesday is to be 61 degrees and mostly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 60 degrees and AM rain, Thursday is to be 48 degrees and mostly sunny, Friday is to be 50 degrees and sunny, Saturday is to be 48 degrees and mostly cloudy and Sunday is to be 45 degrees and AM ice. That doesn't sound very good does it? Our guest minister may not be able to come depending on how much ice they get between where he lives and rural Coffeyville. And we are having a basket dinner on Sunday too. Wow!

More Later...

It's 8:41AM right now and in about 15 minutes I will leave to go pick up Leslie for my hearing appointment. I forgot to start the dryer when I put my load of clothes in it after they washed. So they will probably not be completely dry when the dryer finishes. I may drop by the house and start it again before I go to visit Nancy. I did call the office and tell them I would appreciate if they would tell her that I will be later getting there since I have this 10:00AM appointment in Independence. The receptionist said she would tell her.

I picked up Leslie for my appointment at Midwest Hearing Aids. I filled out the paperwork and took the hearing test. I just had "Moderate" hearing loss but the big surprise was that the woman that ran that office was not a "provider" of the free hearing aids. They wanted $3700.  for the two hearing aids she showed me. I knew I didn't have that kind of money and sure didn't want to go into debt to buy them at my age. So we went over to Ane Mae's and had a sandwich, potato chips and tea...Leslie bought. Then I took Leslie home and went by my house before I went down to the assisted living facility where Nancy lives. She was just finishing her lunch so I took her for a ride and we later stopped at Brahms and each of us had a small milk shake. That was our treat.

Then I bought gas at Walmart and came on back home. I was very tired. I had had terrible sleep last night with all I had going on and going through my head.

But I will go watch the basketball game at the elementary school gym this evening at 6:00PM. Cheyenne will be playing. I want to watch her play. It's only an hour long. Surely I can do that. Actually it turned out her game was at 7:00PM so I watched from 6:00PM until after Cheyenne's game. They won their game too.

But I did go watch the kids play basketball and I really enjoyed it.They had a great time and Leslie and John came and Jeromy and Marlene too.

I will try to go to each of Cheyenne's games. She has such a good time and it's something nice to do too.

I will finish this blog now that I have had my bath and then do Keith's blog too. After that, I will go to bed at 9:00PM.

I've had a big day.

Sunday and Breakfast at Church

I slept fairly well last night...was up twice in the night to go to the bathroom...but was up shortly before 5:00AM. I made my bed..as usual, and dressed and got myself ready for the day. As soon as I have my breakfast, I will mix up my coffeecake and get it in the oven before I sit down to watch the weather and check on the cats. They won't be out there this early anyhow.  I see it's 42 degrees this morning and it's 5:36AM now.

Sometime today, I will need to go to the market and get milk. I am nearly out. I have oatmeal for breakfast every morning and that takes milk. I am down to my coffee and Chai Latte now and I will soon mix up that coffeecake for the church breakfast.

I tried to log in on the desktop computer and  it says Cox is having technical difficulties. That's strange. I haven't had any problem with the laptop online with the blog. Well...that's because it's the bank...not Cox, that's having the technical difficulties. I tried to check my checking account to balance it.

I'll get on the coffeecake now.

So, More Later....

I have the coffeecake in the oven now and the oleo for the glaze is setting on the top of the stove so it will melt. Then I will add powdered sugar to it and a little milk before I put it on the warm coffeecake.

Next week we will not have a breakfast since we will have a guest minister from the Mission Center. We will have a lunch after church instead.

I got the coffeecake glazed and it is cooling now.

The only cat that came for breakfast was Blondie and he barely ate anything and left.

I did finally see "the weather on the 8's" though.Today is going to be 59 degrees and mostly cloudy and windy. Tomorrow is to be 64 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 57 degrees and mostly cloudy, Wednesday is supposed to be 57 degrees and rain, Thursday is to be 47 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be  52 degrees and mostly sunny, and   Saturday is to be 45 degrees and PM showers. Maybe we will get some rain...who knows.

It's 8:02AM now and I will leave for church at 9:30AM. I imagine we will be eating breakfast at 10:00AM. I tried to text Leslie but the text would not go.Then I tried to call her but she never answered. I don't know if I have a signal or not. That's very odd. I rebooted my phone and that seemed to help.

More later...

Leslie said she was using her hair dryer and did not hear my phone call. That explains that.

We had a small congregation today. Evidently many people were either having company because of the holiday weekend or simply too busy to come to church today for some reason. It happens!

We have a brisk wind today and my backyard is covered with leaves again. I should have known. Oh well, I needed the exercise anyhow.

I brought home most of the coffeecake but I will take some to Nancy tomorrow afternoon. I will see her tomorrow afternoon instead of in the morning.  I have a 10:00AM appointment for a hearing test tomorrow morning at 10:00AM in Independence. I will call the receptionist in the morning and tell her to tell Nancy I will come in the afternoon instead of in the morning tomorrow.

I will go to the market and get my milk in a little while.

More even later...

I got my milk and before I did that, I mailed off seven letters to those who were not at church today. I sent them bulletins too for the announcements and the prayer list. I realize it will be several days until they receive them because of the Martin Luther King holiday. But at least they will eventually get them this week.

I should have remembered to get powered sugar too, I have some time on that since we are not having breakfast next week. We are having lunch instead. We have a guest minister coming to speak from the Mission Center.

Maybe more later..

It's 7:04PM now and I will take my bath and put my pajamas on and watch the 60 Minutes program that I recorded. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM.
