It never just rains..it pours

We have had our share. Last week I backed into a neighbor as she was passing by (my blind spot). I got a $100 ticket for inattentive backing. We had $1,000 deductible insurance. We are to take the car in Tuesday for repair.

Then yesterday while I was trying to climb on the roof to help Bob put guttering screens on our guttering, the ladder fell and I fell on the air conditioner. It punctured my left leg and badly scraped and cut my right one. I put ice on it and it quickly helped a bunch. I washed out my wounds with peroxide and put antibiotic ointment on them and all was fine. I went to the doctor's office at noon today and got a tetanus shot. This morning we noticed our laminate flooring in the dining room was beginning to buckle. I started to wipe on it with a dry cloth and found water seeping up to the surface. The tubing to the ice maker on the refrigerator in the kitchen had broken and sprayed water on the wall, the wallpaper, and under the wall to the padding under the laminate. It is ruined. It has been down since February to replace worn out carpet. I called the insurance company and they are sending out an adjuster on Tuesday or Wednesday. I hope it is covered and we have $500, deductible on the homeowners insurance.

It never rains but it pours.

Break My Neck

We decided today to put plastic flat screening on the guttering after we found a bird in the drain yesterday and it couldn't get out. We took the drain down and got it out and it flew away then we washed out the drain and got a half trash bag full of debris from the trees...sticks, and seed pods. So Bob climbed up on the ladder and installed the screening to filter that stuff out. He played out two thirds of the way through and so I was going to finish it. I was on the ladder when it slipped out from under me. I must have a "thing" for ladders. I fell into the flower bed and scraped and cut my right leg and got a deep gash on the left one too. The right leg immediately turned black so Bob brought me some ice, peroxide, antibiotic ointment and bandages and I washed and washed the bruise with the ice and elevated it. It then turned red and the bruise cleared up. The right leg looks bad but doesn't hurt now. The left leg has the deep cut in it but doesn't hurt so I think I will live. He finished the job and I went back to holding the ladder and handing him things.
One of these days....

It was a pretty day though and not hot. There was good breeze so that helped a lot.

Youngest son, Scott, got moved today. Leslie, his sister, and John, her husband are going to give him a good sofa, two reclining chairs and a coffee table and two end tables but they can't take the things to him this weekend. They have their granddaughter, Sage, this weekend.

Our son's transfer

Our son, Scott, has now moved to the Fort Leonard Wood area. His furniture, what there is of it, will be delivered tomorrow to his new duplex in Saint George, near Fort Leonard Wood.

We will have to keep his Sharpe dog. He will not have a fenced yard and the lease says "no animals". That's o.k. We have a fenced yard. The dog is nine years old. He is low maintenance as far as barking, making messes, and my flower beds.

He is high maintenance as far as needing baths and ear cleaning. That however is common with this breed.

Scott may be back here Friday for the Memorial Day holiday. Our daughter is giving him a sofa, two recliners, end tables and a coffee table.

Joplin Trip

Bob and I went to Joplin today and we took Tony and Gay O'Rourke with us. We had a great time shopping. I bought a new robe. Then we went to Olive Garden and had a good lunch. We all enjoyed ourselves. Furthermore, the appraiser found us there and gave us an appraisal on the left back bumper that I wrecked a couple of days ago. I backed out of my driveway and struck a neighbor's car. It was an 83 year old woman that had never been involved in a wreck before. I was heartsick for her. Luckily, I had left my collision insurance intact so with a $1,000 deductible I am able to get all the damage repaired.
