Saturday and Dusting Today

I slept fairly well last night and was only up once to take my two meds.. I made my bed and got myself ready for the day. I caught "the weather on the 8's" right away.this morning.

Today is to be 95 degrees and AM thundershowers, tomorrow is to be  91 degrees and mostly cloudy, Monday is to be 82 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 84 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be  88 degrees and Thursday is to be 94 degrees and mostly sunny and Friday is to be 95 degrees and sunny. Rain only one day and that's today.

Thank goodness I got the yard mowed yesterday! And I trimmed this morning before it got terribly hot.

Now I will go check to see if Blondie is out there this morning. I checked earlier but he wasn't there that early.

More Later....

Blondie didn't come today.  He probably ate at the house on State Street where the children live. They also feed him, I believe. They told me some time ago they have a different name for him.

It's 83 degrees now and it's only 7:44AM. It's supposed to be 95 degrees today.

I met Sally at the restaurant downtown and we had Joyce's chicken fried steak sandwich and chips for lunch. I had a coke with mine. Sally had water.

I came home afterward and read all afternoon. It's 3:41PM now and I am tired reading. I finished both of my Coffeyville library books and will take them to their book drop after church tomorrow or maybe Wednesday. I went to the Caney library this afternoon and checked out two more books to read.  That's what I have been reading this afternoon. My computer says we have rain coming this afternoon.

We will see....

I haven't seen any rain yet and it's 96 degrees outside. It's 79 degrees in this apartment. I do have the ceiling fans going though and that moves the air. It usually helps over time. I did go out with the hose and water the flowers in my back yard and also took a pitcher of water out front and watered what hasn't burned up out front.

Friday and Mowing

I slept well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day.

I want to get the rest of the west side of my yard mowed this morning before it gets too hot.  I don't think Mike will come mow for me since his business is closed because of the boil order. So as soon as it's plausible, I will get it finished myself.

Blondie was here early this morning and I fed him both the wet cat food and the dry cat food. He ate his fill and left.

I also caught "the weather on the 8's". It's supposed to be 100 degrees this morning. and partly cloudy, and 94 degrees tomorrow and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 94 degrees and scattered thunderstorms,  Monday is to be 84 degrees and AM clouds PM sun, Tuesday is to be 87 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 94 degrees and mostly sunny, and Thursday is to be 94 degrees and mostly sunny.

That's the week....a chance of rain on Sunday otherwise just another week of hot weather.

I will wait a little while to mow. It's too early to disturb the neighbors with the noise.

I took my walk at 6:35AM and was back at 7:11AM.  I got some trash but not a lot. I put the sack in my dumpster. I will wait awhile yet to begin my mowing. The neighbors are probably still sleeping...those who are not working.

And it's only 69 degrees now. This would be the time to mow. If the grass is not too wet. I will check.

It's 8:10AM now and I just finished mowing the west side of my yard. I got part of it trimmed too before the trimmer battery went down. I have it on the charger now. I am hot and need to drink some water. I will go back to my book now until the trimmer charges.

In a little while I will begin my cleaning.

It's 9:35AM and I am still waiting for the trimmer to finish charging. I guess I may as well do my mopping since I can't trim yet. It's 82 degrees now.

Maybe when I am finished the trimmer will be charged.

More Even Later...

I went up to Independence for lunch and had a Big Cheese pizza for my lunch. Then when I got home I went by Big G's and had a small butter pecan flurry. I didn't see Mike anywhere. But at least his business was open again.

The trimmer was fully charged and I trimmed the entire yard. And then I came back in and read for a couple of hours.

I cleaned the apartment this morning. Mopped every bare floor and vacuumed the entire apartment. Then I charged the vacuum cleaner and when it was fully charged, I put it away. I will dust tomorrow.

It's 94 degrees now. I am sure glad I finished the mowing while it was cooler and only 82 degrees.. I never did hear from Mike. Maybe he will not be mowing for me anymore. It's 94 degrees outside now ..very hot. I have the air conditioning going but it's still 79 degrees in here. I also have both ceiling fans going to try to get it cooled off in here. For some reason, that air conditioner just doesn't cool it off . This is the third time I have had this problem.

It's 4:26PM now. Sally will be by to pick me up at 6:00PM. We are going to a play in Bartlesville at the Bartlesville Theater located downtown in the old Penney's building.

Sally came by about 6:15PM and picked me up and then picked up another friend of hers, Verona, too and we headed for Bartlesville and the play. Halfway there it began raining..hard. When we got to Bartlesville it was still raining but we went on downtown and parked at the theater and we noticed a paper note on the screen outside. I got out to go read it. It said a member of the cast had become ill and they were cancelling tonight's performance for a week and would honor the tickets for next week. So we went out to Brahms instead and they had dinner and I had a milk shake. Then we came back home to Caney. I was tired... because, not only had I mowed and trimmed but I had also cleaned the apartment today. So I took my bath and will read until I get sleepy and then go on to bed.

Thursday and a Trip to Bartlesville to See Nancy.

I slept well last night and was up only once in the night and took my two meds then. I got right back to sleep afterwards. It's 4:51AM now and I am back at the computer on this blog. I haven't made my bed yet or dressed and got myself ready for the day. I will do that shortly. I still have half the west side yard to mow but I will not do that. I hope Mike will come do it. If not, I will have to. My mower still needs the blade sharpened. John never got to it after he told me it would need sharpened. It was very hard to mow yesterday. It was all I could do to push it. The last time it was used was when Krystal used it. It had a lot of dirt stuck to it that came loose after I finally got it started. I am sure the blade needs to be cleaned and sharpened.

I guess I will go make my bed and dress now. It's my usual 5:24AM.

So More Later... I got everything ready for the day..including myself.

I also caught "the weather on the 8's" . I haven't seen anything of Blondie yet though.

Today is to be 92 degrees and mostly sunny,  Friday is to be 96 degrees partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 95 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 95 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Monday is to be 86 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 90 degrees and mostly sunny and Wednesday is to be 94 degrees and sunny.

That's the week, Lots of hot weather and only one day of rain..Sunday.

I took my walk at 6:45AM  and got back at 7:20AM. I had a few pieces of trash and a water bottle and when I got back home I put the sack in my dumpster.

This evening at 6:30PM is the Betterment Committee meeting at City Hall. I intend to attend, I hope I don't forget.

I sure hope Mike will come finish mowing my west yard. If not, I will have to do it later this afternoon. If they are open today, I may drop by Mr. G's and ask if he will do it. I sure would rather not have to do it.

They appear to be closed at Mr. G's. That's probably because of the water situation. They are all under a boil order. I will wait until this evening to mow. It may be cooled off some by then.

I don't believe John made it today to sharpen the blade on the mower.either.   I knew he was very busy with his business but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask him since he was the one who initially suggested the blade needed sharpening. I will wait until he is not so busy. I will mow the rest of the west side later this evening after it cools off a bit. I hope it does cool off a bit.

Now that I am back home, I will read again. According to the computer, it's 88 degrees out side now...way too hot to mow right now.

It's 4:01PM  now. John, my son in law, came and sharpened my mower blade. They will be gone for a couple of days.  I was glad he got that done. After it cools down some this evening, I will try to finish the west side yard. It should be easier with a sharp blade. It's 91 degrees now so it will be awhile if it even cools down.

I asked Sally if she wanted to go to Copan for supper. I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast and I was hungry. She wanted to go with me so I picked her up shortly before 5:00PM.

When I took her home, I attended the Betterment meeting at City Hall. They have some plans for the community. It will just take a lot of volunteers to implement them.

It's 7:54PM and it's 91 degrees out there now. I don't believe it is cool enough for me to mow this evening. I am hoping Mike will be able to finish mowing that west yard. Maybe I can do it in the morning.

It's 7:56PM right now and I will need to take my bath and get my pajamas on and my robe.  Hopefully I can mow in the morning before it gets real hot if Mike doesn't come to do it.

I will read after my bath and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM. It's 89 degrees now outside.

Wednesday and a Hairdo Day

I slept very well last night and was up in the night only once and then took my two meds. I was up at my usual 5:00AM.

Blondie was at my front door looking for his breakfast. After I got my bed made and got myself ready for the day, I took it out to him. It was half wet food and half dry food. He seems to like that mixture. His bowl has two sections and I put the wet food in one half and the dry food in the other side.

I will go over to Coffeyville this morning to get my hair done and I may go to the library over there too. Caney's library doesn't open until noon on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.

I also caught "the weather on the 8's" right away. It's supposed to rain this afternoon. I hope Mike can mow this morning and can get it done before it rains even more. It had rained last night and the grass is very wet. Unless it gets hot and dries the grass, he won't be able to mow today.

Today is to be 88 degrees and PM thunderstorms, tomorrow is to be 90 degrees and mostly sunny, Friday is to be 93 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 96 degrees and AM thunderstorms,  Sunday is to be 94 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Monday is to be87 degrees and mostly sunny and Tuesday is to be 92 degrees and mostly sunny. That's the week..three days of rain. And we certainly need it! The Caney river is very low.

It's 6:41 AM now and it has rained in the night. If I take my walk this morning, I will have to take an umbrella just in case it rains early today while I am walking. I want to drop my second book off at the library drop box here at the library.

I will need to leave for Coffeyville no later then 8:15AM to make my  9:00AM appointment.

I got back from my walk at 7:20AM. I dropped my second book off at the library drop box. It rained last night so there was only four small pieces of trash to pick up. I put those in my dumpster. I didn't need the umbrella. I just carried it. I will take it to Coffeyville though. You never know if you will get caught in the rain..or worse....hail.

I got back from my walk just in time. It is raining again now. I guess mowing is out of the question now.

More Later in the day...

I went to Dollar General and bought a few things I needed and then I left for Coffeyville. When I got there, I was a little early so I went to Sonic there and bought a cherry limeade slush. When I got back to the beauty shop Toni was soon there and she took me in and washed and did my hair. It looks so much better now.

Then I did go to the Coffeyville library and checked out two books to read this week. I will return them next Wednesday when I go over to get my hair done and also to play Bunco at the senior center.

Then I came home. I got home at 10:25AM.

Mike had not mowed. I believe it was too wet to do so. Maybe he will get to it this afternoon if it doesn't rain again. Or I will do it myself if it isn't too wet to mow. It's not hot here in Caney. It's only 74 degrees right now. I would like to get the remaining leaves mowed up if at all possible. I will see. In a little while I will go out to our Sonic and get their child's Wacky Pack for my lunch. That is only $2:18 here in Caney on Wednesdays now that they can't serve anything that has tap water in it or ice that has tap water in it either.. I save the child's toy in that for our Back to School party for the children at church.  It is only 10:34AM now and too early for lunch.

More Later...

I went out to Sonic for their Wacky Pack and all I could get was the chicken strips and french fries. Mr. G's is closed because of the boil order and Sonic is serving nothing with water in it either. Our water here in Caney is dangerous. It has some foreign chemical in it and they hope to have it fixed in 30 days. I got a letter about it last week.

Mike didn't come to mow today so I began doing myself. It's supposed to rain tonight. I got  the front done but it's 85 degrees now and I can't finish. Maybe I can get the back done this evening if it cools down and I can beat the rain. It's much a smaller yard. Right now I am exhausted and sweating like a stuck pig. I will drink some water and read in one of the library books I got in Coffeyville this morning.

I read for quite awhile and then decided to try to mow again. I did the front and the back and part of the west side.

Then I played out, emptied the bag and put away the mower. Maybe Mike can finish it. I can't. It's 85 degrees now and I am done for the day. I will go back to my book.

I read until my bedtime at 9:00PM. Then I went on to bed. I was very tired and  didn't have any problem getting right to sleep.

Tuesday and No Rain Today

I slept fairly well last night although I was up a couple of times to adjust the thermostat.  It rained off and on all night. I occasionally heard thunder too.

I caught "the weather on the 8's" this morning after I made my coffee.

Today is to be 87 degrees and partly cloudy, tomorrow is to be 90 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Thursday is to be 90 degrees and sunny, Friday is to be 96 degrees and sunny. Friday is to be 94 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 96 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be  97 degrees and mostly cloudy and Monday is to be 92 degrees and partly cloudy. Only Wednesday is forecast for rain and that's the day my yard is to be mowed. Darn!

No Blondie yet!

More Later...

Blondie came for his breakfast and I fed him half wet food and half dry food. He ate what he wanted and left.

Then I took my walk and went by the library and dropped the book I finished last night into the drop box and then finished my walk. I got about a half a sack of trash.

I heard from  Stephen, my landlord, that the young man who is going to pick up the limbs from my yard will be doing that today after all. Stephen's message was from yesterday...not this morning. I am glad. I am also glad I hadn't already contacted my mower, Mike.

More Later...I will get back to my reading.

About 3:30PM, the young man with his pickup finally came to haul off the tree limbs.  I think it will take seven or eight pickup loads to get the limbs taken to a tree farm...maybe  even more. It took him about ten minutes to get the first load in the bed and gone. It didn't even make a dent in that pile of limbs.

He's back at 3:45PM and brought two friends with him to help him load the second truck load, And they brought a larger pickup too. So they filled both truck beds and left this time at 3:58PM.

The small pickup is back again at 4:08PM. The larger one is back again too. They are loading both of them now. It's 4:21PM and they are just leaving again now to unload them again. That's 5 loads so far.

I went out when they were gone and swept up the leaves from the street to the curb.

They are back again now.. It's 4:38PM and they are loading up again,

Once again both pickups are being loaded. This will make 7 loads..

Stephen, my landlord, is out there now too... talking to the boys.

They took off at 4:50PM.

He stopped and told me they were going to rake up the leaves and put them in the truck beds. I know Mike will be mowing tomorrow and I definitely want the sticks out of the yard so Mike won't mow over them with his mower..

The boy is out there raking the leaves up. I took him some water and told him he had done a nice job.  He was very polite and thanked me.

I was impressed.

Monday and Laundry

I slept fairly well last night and was only up once to take my two meds. I was up at my usual 5:00AM.  I put Blondie's food out front by the door this morning in case he comes early. I did catch "the weather on the 8's" already.

Shortly after 6:00AM, Blondie showed up for his breakfast. He ate what he wanted and left.

Today is to be 89 degrees and  partly cloudy, tomorrow is to be 88 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 91 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Thursday is to be 90 degrees and mostly sunny , Friday is to be 95 degrees and scattered thunderstorms and Saturday is to be 95 degrees and sunny and Sunday is to be 91 degrees and  AM thunderstorms. It looks like at least three days of rain...Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. We sure need the rain.

I am doing laundry this morning and need to get it in the dryer now.

I will need to get some more Tide sometime today. I used the last of it this morning.

I took my walk and when I got back I folded out the laundry and put it away. I had collected a full bag of trash this morning. It's after a weekend and the kids are not in school yet so they just throw their trash in the street. It's a pity they aren't taught any better! That just tells us what kind of citizens they will be when they are grown up..unless something changes.

More Even Later...

I went to Dollar General and  bought some more Tide for my laundry. They had an entire bank of freezers down just like the Caney Market. Who knows who they will get to repair them. And it's strange that both Dollar General and the Caney Market both have a bank of freezers down. Weird!

I met Leslie at Dairy Queen in Independence for their $7.00 lunch.  Then I went to Walmart there to get their flavored water and Chai Latte.

When I got home, I stopped by the library and checked out two more books. So this afternoon, I will read again.

More Later...

I read until Stephen, my landlord, came to cut up the tree branches from my two trees that were badly damaged by the wind a couple of days ago and stack them. He brought a small chain saw. He says he will bring his truck and trailer after work tomorrow and pick up the branches, tie them down and take them to the tree dump. I assume Caney has a tree dump...most communities do. He got that job done in a couple of hours and then he mowed his yard. He is probably exhausted now and he has to travel home to Owasso, Oklahoma, yet. I took him out some water and then drug the one small branch his tree had dropped over to my yard to stack with mine. If he gets that done tomorrow afternoon, Mike can still mow for me on Wednesday.

I took my bath at 7:30PM or so and read until 8:30PM and came in here to work on the blog.

I discovered two fake Cox e-mails and called Cox Complete Care and got them deleted after a Cox IT confirmed they were fake.

Then I began the second book. I finished the first one this morning. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM after I take my Melatonin. It's 9:17PM now.

Sunday, August 6, 2023

Sunday and a Catastrophe.

Yesterday was truly a catastrophe! The storm yesterday morning brought down two trees in my yard! The limbs blew off and are on the ground in front and on the west side of my yard. I sent Stephen photos of the wreckage and he is trying to make a deal with one of two different men who would like the job of cleaning it up. It will be expensive! In the meantime, both yards are a real disaster.

It's always something!

This morning there is another morning of thunder loud enough to wake me up. It is 3:30AM and I can no longer sleep. I have too much on my mind and the thunder noise is keeping me awake.

I did catch "the weather on the 8's"on TV. Today is to be 89 degrees and isolated thunderstorms, Monday is to be 87 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 85 degrees and   Clouds and PM sun, Wednesday is to be 91 degrees and scattered thunderstorms, Thursday is to be 92 degrees and mostly sunny Friday is to be 95 degrees and isolated thunderstorms, and Saturday is to be 94 degrees and mostly sunny. That's the week! Three days of rain. I don't know how the yard will get cleaned up but I guess that's Stephen's responsibility. Poor Stephen! What a mess!

I don't know what the weather will be like for church. I'd like to just stay home and not take a chance of hail developing while I am there and denting my car.

I did finally go back to bed. And I slept until 6:00AM this time.

More Later...

It's raining again this morning and it's 6:25AM now.

I just  opened the front door and found Blondie waiting there for his breakfast so I got his dry cat food and fed him and he ate and left. I will fix my coffeecake for church now.

So More Later..

Blondie came back for some more food. Luckily I had not taken his food in.

The coffeecake is finished and glazed too. I walked up to the library and put my second book in the book drop. I took an umbrella.... just in case. Then I came back home. I gathered some trash along the way. I put that in my dumpster when I got home.

It's 8:50AM now and I guess I will go ahead and go to the church even though it's early. The breakfast doesn't start until 10:00AM but it's nearly 9:00AM now.

I will check my cash situation. I may go to the bank in Coffeyville if I am low on cash.

More Later...

I did stop at the bank after church and get some money for the next week. Then I joined John and Leslie and Karan for lunch at El Pueblo. I missed Phyllis. She was talking to several people and I didn't have a chance to talk to her. I checked at Eggbert's but she wasn't there.  Leslie told me they were going to El Pueblo so I joined them. John bought mine and Karan's lunch. Then I went out to Woodshed and filled my tank with gas.

I came on back home afterward.

I will watch the Mission Center's Zoom worship service this evening at 6:00PM and record 60 Minutes.

Stephen hasn't engaged anyone to clean up the mess in my yard yet. It's only Sunday so he may be planning to have it done later this week.

More Later..

Now I have watched the Mission Center worship service and will take my bath and watch 60 Minutes until bedtime. I have recorded it.

At  7:00PM, I will take my bath and get ready for bed. I won't go to bed until 9:00PM though.

So good night for today.
