Keith skyped me last night from Iraq just before I went to bed and we talked about 30 minutes. It was good to see him. Thank goodness for Skype. It took me awhile to get the mic to work but after I changed the setting to USB, it worked fine. But afterward I had a hard time getting to sleep. Finally at 10:17, I took a sleeping pill. I seldom do that but as a last resort, I do.
This morning at 7:30, I will meet Bob A. for breakfast. Then around 10:00, I will go visit Phyllis and after that, we will go to Sunfest in Bartlesville. I hope it's not as hot as yesterday. I worry about the heat...not so much for myself as for Slinky. He suffers so much in Kansas heat. It is so moist. I leave him plenty of water but he still suffers. It's 70 degrees at 6:45 this morning. It was 93 yesterday afternoon and evening.
I have watered the plants and fed the animals. Slinky had his oatmeal (I must get oatmeal today. That was the last of it). Heaven forbid the dog not get his oatmeal. He gets so excited about it he nearly has a fit waiting for me to scrape it into his bowl.
More later....
Breakfast is over and I am going to take Slinky for a walk before time to go see Phyllis. He will love that. It's been a while.
I went to see Phyllis and she was in bed. She was pretty sleepy and not too articulate again. I stayed about 20 minutes altogether. Then I came home and called Bob A. He came by and we went to Sunfest. There was a lot of walking and a lot of heat. It was 98 in Bartlesville. Luckily there was a slight breeze. We watched a dog show with dogs that chased and caught frizbees and listened to a band play and walked around and looked at the exhibits. Then we went to see the car show. It was huge. We enjoyed that. But really, it was just way to hot to be out walking around. But it was something to do on a Saturday.
Next Saturday I want to paint. I will have to start early.

Sunny Hot Friday
It's another sunny Friday. I worked all morning on one project or the other and once again, the morning flew by...just as I like.
After work, I picked up my brother-in-law and we drove over to Cherryvale to a really good buffet restaurant and had lunch. Tomorrow we will have breakfast and then I will go out to see my sister at the nursing home before we go to Bartlesville for Sunfest. That is a large arts and crafts festival with music and lots of food. We will probably get back sometime around 4:00 in the afternoon. It's a lot of walking. There is plenty of shade though so I am hoping we are up to it.
I will just rest up tomorrow afternoon.
I am thinking of changing my clothes this afternoon and washing windows. They really need it. I have some stuff that washes the windows right through the screens and cleans the screens too. I have used it for years. It really does a nice job. It is called Renz e-z. Anymore I have to buy it online in Tulsa. I used to be able to get it at the hardware store.
Anyhow, I may hook up the hose, install the jar, mix the powder and do my windows this afternoon. We'll see.
More later...
Uh Oh! I read the directions and it said not to use on freshly painted surfaces. Jeff just painted around the windows so I guess I'd better not use it on those windows. Drat! I was counting on washing windows. It's 93 degrees out there right now anyhow.

Another Busy Thursday
I worked today trying to find all the past receipts for gasoline. I had to search through all kinds of invoices. I have done this for two weeks now...terribly tedious but very time consuming...so I don't care.
Then I came home to pay Richard for Jeff's work. I called to find out how much I owe for the soffit work and it included materials so I am looking at $969.25. Add that to the $591.59 I paid earlier and it just about took all the $2,000 I withdrew for the work. But the house looks nice. When I get my part of it done, it will really look good.
I have a meeting at the SRS office this afternoon at 3:30 with the committee that is planning our PINCH basket dinner. In the meanwhile, I guess I'll try to clean in my garage. That's one of my projects.
Richard came just as I got it started and so I visited with him awhile and paid him. Then I came in to make myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I'll get back to it in a minute.
I have a PINCH committee meeting at 3:30.
My older son is in Qatar now waiting to go to Iraq. I'd appreciate any prayers and thoughts for him and his wife, Esther.
I went to Wal Mart, something that is against my religion, and bought some hose hangers to get our hose off the garage floor. I also bought some banker's boxes that have lids. When I recuperate from what I have been doing, I will put them together, put the garage sale stuff I have in the garage in them to keep the stuff clean and stack the boxes. The garage floor is clean now. Another hour or so and I would have it looking halfway presentable.
Unfortunately, I have a meeting in 35 minutes.
After the meeting, I worked until 7:30 on the garage and put together some of the banker's boxes and wrapped everything breakable in paper and stacked the boxes. It looks a lot neater now.
Keith W. came by and I picked out the material for the patio roof. They will order it this week but I want to get the painting done before they put the new roof on the patio. I intend to paint on Saturday the 11th...starting early. They will take the old roof off on the 10th so I can paint all sides of the boards. Then they will put the new roof on the following week. Keith W. is going to bring the leftover swing paint to me so I can paint the trim on the house. There's only one board on the patio framework that gets that trim paint. Then I will do the shutters in front and the trim on the garage door. It should be pretty. I will have to paint early morning and late afternoon though. It was 90 degrees today.
When I get it finished, I will take some photos and post them here on the blog.

Busy Wednesday
I never found the time yesterday to add to this blog. When I got home from work, Jeff was here finishing up my soffits and also putting the second coat of paint on them. He also scraped and sanded the board holding up my patio framework on the east. I forget what you call it. Anyhow he finished and left and I mowed, trimmed and trimmed back some bushes and cut them up into small pieces to bag them for the trash people. That took the rest of the afternoon.
My brother-in-law dropped by after I had finished and visited awhile.
I came in after he left and took a shower and washed my hair (it was soaking wet from sweat). I put my PJs on and went to bed about 9:00. I slept like a log until 6:00 this morning.
I worked this morning as usual. After I got off work, I drove to Bartlesville to meet Myra H. at Garfield's for lunch then we spent the next three hours catching up on the family news.
I just got home a while ago and started a load of white clothes. I have the papers to read too so I will get back to this later.
More later...
I got my laundry done and watched TV for an hour or so and then just went to bed.

Memorial Day
I did some cleaning today besides my regular animal feeding, flower watering, etc. Leslie called this morning and she is going to Tulsa to get her diamond replaced in her ring. She had it checked at Hershberg's last year and it was fine. Now it is gone. According to their guarantee, they should replace it for free.
I will meet her at Tyro after she gets her housework finished. Then we will drive to Tulsa. She also wants to buy some of that paint at Home Depot. The paint is supposed to cover in one coat. Sherwin Williams sure doesn't. I think it is Behr paint.
I don't know what I will do with the rest of the day. Of course, it may take all day by the time we drive to Tulsa. It's 72 miles down there and that doesn't count going all the way to the mall where the jewelry store is located.
Scott has called a couple of times this morning. He is at loose ends. Keith should be on his way to Iraq by now. I dread that six months. Nowhere is really safe over there.
I wanted to wash windows today but it's just too windy. When I get out in wind like this, my allergies just go crazy.
More later...
I cleaned house and then we went to Tulsa. She left her ring to be repaired and bought her paint and we had lunch at 2:30 and then came home. Keith called this evening. I was so glad to hear from him. He was on the east coast getting ready to ship out for Iraq.

Really Windy Sunday
I hope this wind doesn't stir up rain. There's none in the forecast. Wind does really stir up my allergies though. I have been trying to sit out on my patio where the flowers are in bloom and the animals are enjoying the day. I have them fed and watered and my oatmeal eaten (my four tablespoons). Slinky gets the rest of it. It's so funny how much that dog enjoys oatmeal...even though he has to eat it slowly because it is hot right out of the microwave. He gobbles down his dog food.
I will go to church shortly. I preach today. I don't really call it preaching. It's more like "speaking". I'm not much on "preaching" at people. Afterward some of us will go eat out together. That always extends the fellowship. I have the new directories to distribute today.
This afternoon, as usual, I will get my letters ready to send out. They won't go out until Tuesday this week because of the Monday holiday. I need to get gas today or at least in the next day or two. I am very low.
I also need to clean out my carburetor on my mower. I don't know whether I can just use some additive that I can add to the gas or if I have to actually get the carburetor off then blow it out. I will ask someone (probably my son-in-law, John)at church. It would be neat and easy if I could just add some cleaner to the gas.
My brother-in-law has a problem with his mower. It won't run smoothly. So he can't mow. He's going to have to have his yard mowed since it needs it badly right now. I wish we had kept the mower trailer we had in Independence. I could take mine over there and let him use it. But I don't so that's all there is to it. He will be by in a couple of hours to pick me up for church.
More later...
John said it was the governor on my mower and not the carburetor. He said it would not hurt it to use it like it is. That was good to know.
