Saturday and Breakfast Out

Bob will be by at 7:20 to pick me up for breakfast. I slept very well. I had gone to bed later and that helps a lot.

I will try to get those peanut butter crisscross cookies baked today sometime. We will eat the leftover tuna noodle casserole for lunch. Bob will bring more salad and I have fruit for dessert. The peas are in the casserole.

I have reading material too. Yesterday I got my Consumer Reports magazine and I started on it. Maybe I will get it finished today. Then I have the Alexander Hamilton biography that I started earlier in the week. It's supposed to be in the 60's today. Another warm day. I won't complain.

More later....

Bob and I had breakfast and then he brought me back home. We overate so it will be awhile before we have lunch/dinner.

We left when a woman came in bringing three small children. The children were all over the place, very noisy. I noticed several couples, including us, left. If someone brings small children into a public restaurant, they need to be sure they are told how to behave first. One small boy, probably six years old, got down on his hands and knees and did some carrying on in the top of his voice. After awhile, the mother got him up but by then the other two began acting out too. She took them into the back room of the restaurant. But by then we were leaving . I, for one, was disgusted.

I finished the magazine and gave it to Bob to take home to read.

More later...

I read this afternoon and also played some Freecell. Keith, my older son, called me and we talked awhile. He was on his way to church.

Bob came over this evening to read the paper. There's not much on TV on Saturday evening. He probably will not stay late.

I washed both of Missy's afghans this evening and she took some time to  get re-acquainted with the one that stays on her recliner.  Now she's back up there. She must have decided it was hers after all.

Friday and Cinnamon Rolls at Utopia

I didn't sleep all that well last night. I woke up three times but managed to get back to sleep each time. I slept until 6:00 AM which is unusual for me.

I think today is cinnamon roll day at Utopia. Bob will call and tell me when he finds out.  We will have a cinnamon roll and then later...lunch/dinner. We are having tuna noodle casserole today with a veggie and his salad. I have cupcakes for dessert.

It is 27 degrees this morning but is supposed to get up in the 60s later today.  I am looking forward to that.  That will come to a speedy halt by Wednesday next week.

More later...

I took Missy out but it was too cold for her so I just took the newspaper over to Marilyn's mailbox and then came back in the warm house. Missy was ready too. I have been playing Freecell for the past hour.  This afternoon I will bake cookies again. We ran out last night.

This desktop computer has been freezing up periodically. Rebooting helps temporarily but it still freezes up from time to time. I have asked Keith for advice but he is at work and will probably have to tell me his ideas when he gets home this evening.   It's running on Windows 7 and doesn't have a necessary file to upgrade to Windows 10. I have Windows 10 on the laptop and it does just fine there.

Well, more later.....

We have finished lunch/dinner and it was good. We had plenty so I took a casserole dish over to Karan and Bobby. Karan is having a time with Bobby. He has become confused and she has her hands full dealing with that. She was at the market and he disappeared. I went over and helped her carry in her groceries.  I also took them the casserole dish.

Poor Karan and Bobby. They have their hands full.

More even later...

Bob came over at 5:00 something and was here until 7:00. After he left and I had had my bath, I found American Masters on PBS. It featured  Mike Nichols. He was very well liked as a director and won numerous awards including several Academy Awards. He was a genius but very well liked.

Afterward I watched one on Mary Tyler Moore that was also very interesting.

I went to bed at 10:00.

Thursday and a Trip Out of Town

I slept well last night and got up at my usual 5:00 AM. I started a load of laundry. I am all dressed and ready for the day at 6:15 and have even had my breakfast and coffee.

Bob and I plan to go to Owasso today while the weather is mild. We are both housebound during cold weather. I gave him a book to read and am reading one myself on my Kindle.

I am ready for Olive Garden. That's where we are going. We were going to go to Joplin to see Mike at the hospital there but he was supposed to have been released yesterday and his daughter was to take him home to Cherryvale.

I will contact Laura and/or Mike before we leave for Owasso and make sure he did go home. If not, we will go to Joplin instead.

I am ready for spring! We are forecast for my cold weather for next Wednesday and snow. I am hoping it misses us. We have only had two small snows here but I don't want any more. Our new landlady doesn't clear snow like Wayne did. In fact, she does as little as she can for us. Last spring she didn't even clear the piles of leaves away from my old air conditioning unit before time to turn it on. I took my blower and blew the leaves into the back yard.

The kids that live in the apartment where Bob used to live (two doors over in the fourplex), are being evicted this week. They haven't paid the January rent and he quit his job after expecting to go into the National Guard right away after enlisting.  That was three months ago and he still hasn't been called up. Then Braums cut the hours on his girlfriend and cut her to three hours a day. So they have been struggling. If he had not quit his job they would probably have been alright. Kids! He's 20 and she's 18.

Well, we went to Owasso and had a great lunch at Olive Garden. Then we walked all over the place and looked at stuff. I didn't buy anything and Bob went to their Walmart Superstore and bought a new shower curtain and liner for his shower.

When we got back to Coffeyville, he dropped me off and then went on home to take his nap.

More later....

This may be like my son's new home.

Wouldn't that be lovely?

Bob came over at 5:00 to watch the news and also read the newspaper. He left at 7:00 and I took my bath and etc. I got to bed a little after 9:00. I watched the Mentalist on TV after watching This Old House.

Wednesday and Game Day at the Senior Center

This afternoon I will go to game day at the senior center. I will make some lemon bars to take.

I didn't sleep all that well last night. I went to bed too early. I got up a little before 5:00 AM and got ready for my day.

Bob and I will not be going to see Mike in Joplin tomorrow. I got an e-mail from Laura this morning and he is going home from the hospital today.  That's amazing! He had four bypasses last Friday. So,in less then a week, he will be going home.

We will have chicken breasts, salad, and potatoes with veggies today for lunch/dinner. I have some cupcakes for dessert.

Bob dropped by on his way to his exercise class. I was working on Dennis's resume. Then I discovered how to upload the one he is distributing.  So now he has two....the one I developed on Kansas Works and the one we put together for him to take around to prospective employers. It is more complete.

More later...

Bob came over for lunch/dinner. We had the chicken and it was all good.  Then he checked his bank balance and e-mail and left his notebook to finish charging. When I got back from game day, I put it away.   I enjoyed the afternoon.

More even later....

Bob came back a little after 5:00 and stayed until 7:00. He left then and I took my bath and Missy and I sat in the recliner until 9:00 when I finally went to bed.

Tuesday and Cakes

I slept poorly..awake off and on all night. But even at that when I did get to sleep, I managed to sleep until 6:00. I got up then and made my bed and dressed, did my makeup and then fixed myself a bowl of oatmeal...but not until I gave Missy her treats and fill her water bowl and gave a her a little "fresh"  cat food. She is so spoiled!

I will load the cakes in my trunk in another hour. Then I will pick up Bob and we will go to Independence to deliver the cakes and I will take him to his sister's to visit while I get my hair done. After Kathy finishes with my hair, I will go over to Juanita's to balance her checkbook. Finally Bob and I will go to eat at great China before we go to John and Leslie's to pick up ground beef. Then we will get back to Coffeyville and I will take him back to his home.

It will be a big morning. I will probably read this afternoon. I have that new book on my Kindle.

Well I delivered the cakes, got my hair done,  mailed off a book I sold on Amazon, had lunch at Great China, and went to my daughter's to pick up four pounds of ground beef.  Now I am home again and will read all afternoon. I sold a book about Bill Clinton by Woodward to a young man from Texas.

I saw all the puppies while out to Leslie's. They are so cute! I should have taken some more photos of them.  This is one I took off my daughter's facebook page. Batman is the one on his back showing off, Herbie is the one behind and there in the front is Dinky.

Here is my son's new home going up in Florida.

More later. I think I'll go have a Dilly Bar for dessert. .....

Bob came over about 5:00 and had a Dilly Bar too.  He stayed for the news but went home after about an hour.  There was nothing on TV he was interested in watching.  I took my bath and Missy and I sat in the recliner until a little after 8:00. Then I went to bed. I was very tired.

Monday and Cleaning and Laundry

I slept like a log last night and got up at 5:00 to strip the bed and start the laundry. I've had my breakfast and fed Missy. I've even been out on the carport to sweep up the leaves and let Missy out. It's 48 degrees out there. Missy was so happy about the weather that she ran out and went exploring. I had to get my flashlight to go find her over at Marilyn's apartment across the way. About that time one of David's friends that lives over there across the street in David's house started his motor and took off for breakfast or work (who knows which). Anyhow his motor scared Missy and she came running for the door and wanted back in.

When the laundry dries, I will remake my bed and start the cleaning. I don't vacuum until after 8:00 because I don't know how much noise Jeannie, who's apartment backs up to mine, gets from my apartment.

I had the butcher cut a roast in half for me day before yesterday and so Bob and I will have roast beef, potatoes, salad and perhaps carrots for lunch/dinner.  I have brownies for dessert too. I took them to church yesterday with the coffee cake and gave the brownies to Bill but when he left, he forgot them. So...I brought them back home again.  We will eat them. I will bake some sort of bars for the game day Wednesday afternoon.

Other then that, I have to bake my cake for the First Christian Church in Independence and take them up there tomorrow. I usually have four...sometimes five ...if my neighbor, Marilyn, bakes one for us.

I will ice it in the morning.

Missy is adventurous this morning. A while ago, she hopped up on the back of the sofa and walked across it to the lamp table at the end of the sofa. Then she jumped down on that. I didn't know her old bones could even tolerate all that.  She will be 13 in March.

More later....

I got my bed remade and the apartment cleaned  and dinner in the crock pot.

Dinner was about ready when I heard from Bob that Dennis, his son, needed some more Resume's. Dennis is looking for a job. I ran off ten resume's and ten references.  Then he asked if Dennis could come for lunch and I told him "yes" and I would set another place at the table. I sent the leftovers home with Dennis.

Now I need to bake my cake for the First Christian Church tomorrow. I updated Dennis' resume' on Kansas Works. Hopefully he will find something soon. He has been out of work about six or eight weeks.

More later....

I got my cake finished and iced and everyone else brought me their's too.  Then I downloaded another book and began reading. It is the new Alexander Hamilton biography. So far it is very interesting! I had read about Hamilton as a teenager and did a theme on his life.  Now I will find out how much more this author has learned about this very secretive man. He was born out of wedlock and it is thought his mother was half black. We will see.

About 5:30 Bob brought his cake over and stayed until almost 7:00 to watch the news here.  When he left, I took my bath and Misy and I watched Dateline on TV until 9:30. Then we went to bed.

Sunday and a Sermon

This morning at church I will deliver that sermon I posted here. I got up early and dressed and baked my coffee cake and read the paper. I also did the crossword puzzle. After the coffeecake was finished baking, I let it cool and then iced it. My little great granddaughters just love that treat. They are Cheyenne 3 and Maia 5.

I will go over the sermon as soon as I finish this blog.

This afternoon, after lunch (I imagine we will go to El Pueblo unless no one but Phyllis wants to eat out with us and then we may just go over to "Just Us" at Cherryvale. They are open again now but only in the evenings except for Sundays.  Leslie is "on call" this weekend so she cannot got too far out of town. When she is called out during church, John sometimes takes the little girls to McDonald's.

I will do my letters when I get back home and then this evening I will watch the football playoffs.  I want a quiet day. This week has been so very busy.

More later....

By the way, Winky, the Corgi born with only one eye, has been adopted into a wonderful family.

Here she is! Isn't she cute!

Bob came over about 2:30 and told me the playoffs had already started. I have just finished my letters so we sat down and turned on the TV to watch it. It was very exciting. Denver won the game and will go on to the Superbowl 50 on February 7th.  When Bob left at 7:00, I took my bath and sat with Missy in the recliner. Then at 9:15, we went to bed. I was very tired!
