Saturday and Working on the Sermon

 I slept badly last night and went to bed at 9:30PM and woke up at midnight and was unable to get back to sleep. After tossing and turning until 2:00AM, I got up and took three melatonin. That didn't help either. I got up an finished the book I had been reading and went back to bed. This time I went back to sleep until 5:00AM. What a night!

I am eating my breakfast now. Later this morning, I will go over my sermon for tomorrow. I worked it up weeks ago when Leslie assigned it to me. I went over it again a couple of days ago but I'm not comfortable with it yet. I guess I'm not much of a Lenten person.

Anyhow, I have finished my breakfast now and will go watch "the weather on the 8's" and check on the cats. It's 6:35AM now. 

Both cats came for breakfast. They ate and then they left  and I put the cat food back in the garage and covered it.

I have been watching the CBS news and playing solitaire on my phone. It's 7:42AM  now.

I read on another new book until 1:15PM and then decided to go on to Copan Truck Stop (Restaurant) and have my small chef salad for lunch. after I got back to Caney I went to the market and got the ingredients for a casserole for the dinner for tomorrow.

Then I went back to my latest murder mystery book.

It's 3:57PM now.

I read the rest of the evening. Early in the evening Blondie came for his supper and after awhile, an hour or so, after Blondie left, Scruff came too. So I dug out the cat food again  and set it out for her.

After she ate and left I brought the cat food back into the garage and covered it.

Ar 7:00PM I took my bath and got ready for bed.

Then  I went back to my last book and finished that one too.

Then at 8:58PM, I went on to bed.

Friday and Finishing Cleaning

 I slept well last night and didn't wake up once. I was up and around shortly before 5:00AM. I am dressed and having my breakfast now. I just saw "the weather on the 8's". It's supposed to be 74 degrees today and mostly cloudy. Saturday is supposed to be partly cloudy and windy and 75 degrees, Sunday it's supposed to rain and be 56 degrees, Monday is to be 47 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 54 degrees and mostly Sunday, and Wednesday to be 56 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday is to be 60 degrees and partly cloudy. That's the forecast  for the Coffeyville/Caney area for the next week.

I am doing some laundry this morning. Later I will mop around the edge of the rug in there to clean the dining room floor and then vacuum that rug and dust..

It's 5:47AM right now. 

I may go up to the Copan Restaurant for lunch. I will make that decision later this morning.

I got the laundry in the dryer and now it's time to check on the cats. 

No cats yet. I wonder if the security light scared them away?

It's  6:35AM now and when I opened the door this time Scruff was here for her breakfast. I haven't seen Blondie yet.

I just checked again and Blondie is out there eating too now. 

After they both finished eating, I brought the food into the garage and covered it again.

I have been reading and it is 10:33AM. I need a break from it. I think it's time to finish that last room now.

I got the mopping, vacuuming and dusting finished so now I will decide about lunch. It's 11:50AM

I decided not to go to Copan Restaurant after all. I stopped at Mr. G's and bought a small butter pecan flurry. So I decided to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch instead.

I am charging the Kindle again so I just watched a recorded version of last night's  "Bull" instead of reading.

While it was 70 degrees now, I went out in the back yard and raked up all the leaves and put them in a black yard bag. I have to admit I am exhausted now. All  that stooping did me in. But it was great exercise!!

It's 4:25PM now. 

I took my bath at 7:00PM and I read until nearly 10:00PM  and then I went on to bed. 

Thursday and A Cleaning Day

I slept very well last night after giving blood. In fact, I read until 10:00PM or a little later. The Kindle needed charging or I would have not gone to bed then. I was up at almost 5:00AM this morning and I am a little trimbley after giving blood at 5:00PM yesterday afternoon. I don't believe I will initiate the new Shark vacuum sweeper today. I will give it one more day just in case it will be hard to push that new sweeper through that plush carpet.  I will just read some more today and vacuum tomorrow.

I took the bandage off my arm this morning and it looks fine.

I will warm up my hot hamburger leftovers from Tuesday for my lunch today. I will warm it up in my skillet so the french fries will stay crispy. But lunch is a ways off. It's 5:56 AM now.

I will go watch "the weather on the 8's" now.

I watched the weather  and it's not much different from yesterday's;..... rain Saturday and Sunday....  otherwise spring like. 

After I wrote the check for my City of Caney bill I took it up to the drop box. When I got home again I noticed I felt a lot better so I got out the Shark vacuum sweeper and began vacuuming. I got the bedroom and hall finished and the den before I played out. So I left the vacuum out and will rest awhile  before I do the living room and the dining room. But at least with this one, it  won't shut down and have to rest overnight before it will turn on again. After awhile I will finish...all in one day. I will need to mop too but that's not a problem. I do that with a swifter.

This will give me some time to blog and also to read the book I started last evening. 

I finished the book I started this morning  and downloaded three more. It's 11:56AM now and I will heat up my lunch.

I finished vacuuming the living room and emptied the vacuum and only have the mopping and the dining room rug to finish this afternoon. 

Then tomorrow I will dust.

I called Quality Repair to see if Scott Mills had gotten my bumper painted and he is off today. The man I talked to said it was not done yet and he would see if they could get it painted for me. It's been three weeks and I was hoping it was finished. Not yet..I guess. I should have taken it to Josh's body shop.  It would probably be done by now. Scott just has a lot of work piled up. Scott had ordered the parts before I even knew Josh had a body shop too.

More even later... 

I got everything done but the dust mopping in the dining room and  vacuuming the rug in there. I got all but the bare floors mopped in the dining room around the edge of that rug too but I am very tired and I think I will go back to reading for awhile.

Maybe I can finish later this afternoon. It's only quarter past 1:00PM now so I have plenty of time to get back to that this afternoon or even tomorrow morning. 

It's a beautiful day and I started raking the back yard while it's nice and warm. But I was too tired from the house cleaning I did this morning so I came back in after filling the bird bath with water. Maybe I will be up to it tomorrow. All I have left to do tomorrow with the house cleaning is the dining room and dusting.

So more reading today. 

I finished another  book today and only Scruff came for supper...no Blondie tonight.

It's 6:30PM and I  will take my bath tonight at 7:00 and put my pajamas on.Then I will start another book. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM or so depending on how interested I get in the book. Last night it was 10:30PM but I slept well!

Wednesday and Bunco

I slept fairly well last night and was up shortly before 5:00AM and made up my bed and myself and got myself ready for the day. I am having my breakfast now. At a little after 6:00AM I will check on the cats. Scruff is usually there ...not so much, Blondie, although he came yesterday after Scruff began to eat.

I will go to Coffeyville today and go to the bank first and then to get my hair done. I need to go to Walmart there and get oatmeal in the variety pack and breakfast bars too. I get the Walmart brand Variety pack. I will read in the car until time for Bunco at 1:00PM.  After Bunco, I will go by Marilyn's and take her my leftover treats from Bunco. Then I will come home and stop to give blood at the recreation center between 5:00PM and 5:30PM ...if I don't get deferred again. It will be a busy day.

I also need to call the Merle Norman store in Chanute today and get the owner to send me some moisture emulsion. I am nearly out. Chanute is the nearest Merle Norman store nowadays, Years ago there was one to Coffeyville and Bartlesville and lately even Independence but they have all closed...except for Chanute. The owner there sends me the products I order and doesn't charge me any postage. I just send her a check for the product. She trusts me to do that.

Both Scruff and Blondie came for breakfast this morning. Blondie didn't stay long but Scruff ate quite a bit. I think Blondie eats at his home first   but Scruff doesn't have a home so she always eats here. 

It's almost 8:00AM now and since I want to go to the bank before my hair appointment and also will go to Walmart, I will leave pretty soon. Usually no later then 8:30AM.

When I got to Coffeyville I went to the bank  and took out $50 for the week. Then I went to Sonic and bought a cherry limeade slush. I got my hair done and then took my check for the order I had  called in to Merle Norman's in Chanute to the post office and mailed it off. I went by the library and dropped my empty ink cartridge off for them to have refilled. Then I went out to Walmart and got the things on my list...including some more iron.

I stopped at the senior center and sat in my car and read my Kindle until time to go in for Bunco. When I went in, no one else was there yet and the tables were not set up. I tried the door of the storage room but it was locked. I texted Janet...much as I dreaded doing that. Her father's funeral was this morning. She told me where the spare key to the room where the Bunco stuff was and I got the tables set up and that chairs around the tables. We played Bunco until 3:00PM and then I took the remaining treats I had out to Marilyn Rutledge. She can have then with her coffee tomorrow. I stayed and visited with her awhile but I had an appointment to give blood at 5:00PM so needed to get back to Caney. 

After I gave blood I remembered that Stephan was coming this evening to install my motion light. When I got home, he was there and had it installed. I turned on the outside switch from inside and we tested it. It worked fine. That's good! He has some other inside lights he wants to install too but he will do that another time. He had expected me to be home after Bunco. I had forgotten about the bloodmobile appointment.

Both cats, Scruff and Blondie came for supper.They ate awhile and then left and I brought in the cat food and put it in the garage and covered it.

I read awhile until bath time. I will have my bath a little later since I have to be careful of my right arm. I may wait until morning to bathe this time under the circumstances. 

It's 7:05PM now and the arm is a little sore. I will go back to my book for awhile. I will plan to go to bed about 9:00PM or shortly after as usual.

Tuesday and a Visit With Nancy

I slept pretty well last night and woke up only once but got right back to sleep and slept until almost 6:00AM. By the time I was dressed and made up it was almost 6:39AM so I fixed my breakfast and took it into the living room and checked the cat situation. Scruff was out there alright..very hungry. I took her food out to her and as she was eating Blondie came and ate too. He left first and after a little while she left too. 

I brought the cat food in, washed my dishes and packed a bag of  Kleenex and toilet tissue to take to Nancy. When I was there last week she was down to one roll of toilet tissue and was using it for Kleenex too. Dale and Gina, her nephew and his wife,  haven't been to see her since her son, David, and his wife came over a month ago. Dale took her money and her debit card when they put her in assisted living in November so she has no money and no way to buy anything.  That's a tragedy. She was a multi millionaire and David took her Blackledge money and Dale took her mother's money. It seems they couldn't wait for her to die.

My kids would never do such a thing...if I had any money for them to take. :) My crown and my car repairs, the cruise control and later this next month the repair to my bumper. and yesterday's dental bill for my cleaning took nearly everything I had extra. Thank God I had that! Sometimes it's a blessing not to have any money. At least they can't abuse you by taking your money without your permission.

It's 7:10AM and I have finished my breakfast and Chai. 

I watched "the weather on the 8's" and there's no rain in the forecast until Sunday. Today is supposed to get up to 78 degrees and sunny, Wednesday up to 80 degrees and sunny, Thursday 79 degrees and mostly sunny and Friday 73 degrees and cloudy, Saturday is to be 76 degrees, partly cloudy and windy and Sunday will be 52 and thunderstorms. Monday will be 49 degrees and partly cloudy. We'll see how that all turns out.

It's almost 9:00AM now and I will leave to go down to visit Nancy. I want to stop by the Dollar General store and buy a few things I can't get at our market here in Caney. They are still looking for a new manager here. This will be the third one since they opened a year ago. I don't know what the problem is but I sure don't want to lose this market.

More later this afternoon

I got home from Nancy's about 3:00PM. We ate at Murphy's Steak House and had their famous hot hamburger steak with salad and french fries. I had ice tea and Nancy had coffee, We both brought home leftovers in a box. I will heat mine up in a skillet later. It had been quite awhile since I had eaten there. The last time Dean, my friend and classmate, came we ate there. Otherwise, it had been years. Bob and I ate there many times over the years we lived there.

I had a nice visit with Nancy. It was a beautiful sunny day. She thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the dinner. 

I went to the market when I got home and bought a treat for Bunco tomorrow.  Then I ate a banana for my supper.

I guess I will read now in my Kindle. More later...

I took my bath at 8:00PM and will plan to go to bed at my usual 9:00PM or perhaps later if I read again.

Now I will put this day's blog on Keith's site.

Monday and Laundry

I slept fairly well last night but was up at 4:00AM since I woke up that early and could not get back to sleep. I am dressed and ready for the day. I have even started my laundry. I just put it in the dryer. It's 5:30AM now and I have had my breakfast too. 

In a little while I will turn on the TV and watch "the weather on the 8's" and check on the cats.

Outside of the laundry, I will probably just read again today. I got the letters to the part of the congregation who were not there yesterday all finished but I will need to go to the post office and buy some more stamps to send them off. I wanted everyone to know about the basket dinner and baby shower next Sunday after church. It will be our first basket dinner since the pandemic began. We still haven't resumed church school classes.

It's almost 6:00AM and I will go turn on the weather and see if the forecast has changed any for this week.

I have been watching the CBS Morning news and reading the book I started yesterday. I finished it. It is 8:18AM.

Now when the Kindle is finished charging, I will download three more books. 

I went to the post office and bought more stamps and got those letters in the mail. I got Leslie's birthday gift yesterday and got it wrapped this morning. I need to get a bow for it before her birthday.

It's 11:15AM and I just got out of the dental office after having my teeth cleaned and examined. Another $150.00. They wanted to do x-rays but I knew I would not have the money to do that so I put it off for another six months. I had a 9:30AM dental appointment.

I talked to Scott Mills this morning and he has my bumper. After he gets it painted and it dries he will call me and have me bring my car up to have it put on. It may be Thursday until I can do that. I will be going to Bartlesville to see Nancy tomorrow and take her out to lunch.Then Wednesday is my hair appointment in Coffeyville and Bunco afterward. Scott says it will just take one day to put that bumper on. We will see.

It's 12:51PM now and I will go back to reading. The Kindle is charged and I think I have one more book in it to read. 

I revised Sunday's bulletin to include the basket dinner and baby shower on the announcements. I hope Leslie notices she has received two bulletins in her e-mail ..one with the two new announcements listed. I got some more stamps this morning and sent out the letters to those who were not at church last Sunday telling them about the basket dinner and baby shower. I went over my notes for Sunday's service this afternoon. 

I got Leslie's birthday gift today and got it wrapped. Her birthday is not until July 1st but I wanted to get it early.

Back to my reading now.

I've been reading for a couple of hours and my eyes are tired.  

I guess I'll go back to my book now. I just got started on this new one.

Stephen, my landlord, just brought me a Shark sweeper that he thinks I can use easier on my plush carpet. He says it will not shut down if I do the entire apartment in one day. He says we will just leave it at the apartment when I am gone. I will use it Thursday and be able to vacuum the entire apartment in one day without it shutting down. It's a larger vacuum then my Black and Decker so I hope I can handle it. 

That is so good of them and he says Wednesday he will come and put in the motion security light too. It comes on if someone comes to the front door at night. Then it goes off when the movement is gone.

I read until I finished the book and then I took my bath and put my pajamas on. It's 8:43PM and I will blog awhile and put the latest blog on Keith's website. Then a little after 9:00PM,I will go on to bed.

 

Sunday and Church

I slept very well last night and slept until 6:00AM. I woke up once at 2:30AM but got right back to sleep.

I have dressed for church, had my breakfast and checked the weather and the cat situation. Scruff was the only cat that came for breakfast and she ate and then drank some of the fresh water I put in her water dish and left. Blondie must be in the house of his owner in this cold weather.  According to my phone it is 21 degrees this morning here in Caney.

I have had my breakfast and checked "the weather on the 8's". It's supposed to get up to 57 degrees today and sunny, 66 degrees tomorrow and partly cloudy, 76 degrees Tuesday and sunny, 77 degrees on Wednesday and sunny. Thursday is to be 76 degrees and mostly sunny and Friday 72 degrees.and cloudy and windy and Saturday looks like 71 degrees and showers and windy. That's according to the weather channel. 

It's 7:42AM right now and I will leave for church  about 10:00AM.

Now I will go see if there is any CBS news. 

I have been watching the CBS news. First, I cleaned all the old boxes out of the garage and threw them into the trash container.  The only ones that didn't go into the trash container were the ones that held the puzzles I had worked.  There is no sense in keeping empty boxes.They simply cluttered up the garage.

I left at 10:00AM When I got to church there was ice everywhere on the sidewalk. I found the snow shovel and scraped the ice off as best I could. Then I found the salt ice melt and poured some of it in the sprinkler for ice melting salt. Then I went in to distribute Karan's paperwork. The service began and it was a very good service and Karan had an excellent sermon.

At the end we learned that Johnna's daughter. Kim, was going to have a baby boy in June, Leslie immediately announced we would have a basket dinner next Sunday after church and after that. we would have a shower for Kim and Daniel's up coming baby.  I worked up a letter for those who who not at church this morning telling them about the basket dinner and baby shower  and sending out the bulletins we had left at church. 

I went to Bartlesville this afternoon and bought the baby gift I will give Kim next week. I wrapped it and put a card with it. Then I set it in my car. I don't want to forget it next Sunday. 

I still have to figure what I will take to the dinner.

I have watched the Mission Center service on Zoom. It was pretty good.

Next I will watch the 60 Minutes show I recorded and then I will take my bath. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM as usual.
