Saturday and Breakfast Out

I slept well last night. I went to bed at 8:30. There was nothing...really nothing... to watch on TV. TV is getting more and more impossible anymore. And with my internet which is $30. a month, it costs me $82.03 per month. They are evidently targeting the mostly ignorant Millennials who think with their emotions instead of their brains.  I know. I have some Millennial grandchildren and those that qualify do think with their emotions.

Anyhow...I finally just went to bed. It was impossible. I would watch the History channel but it's no longer history....just foolishness. The same is true with the National Geographic channel.  Sometimes there is just nothing worth watching. Then I just go to bed.

This morning I will pick up Bob for breakfast. Afterward I will take him to his home and come home to vacuum the apartment. I never did get that done yesterday. I may bake those pork chops I thawed for a late lunch. I could also do some baked potatoes in the microwave. Add a veggie and Bob's salad and we would have a late lunch.

Well, we went to breakfast and then I came home to vacuum the carpets and clean the floor mats in my car. That turned out well. That regular car mat cleaner really works! I had tried the carpet cleaner for the house but it didn't do much.

More later....

This is the playhouse Cheyenne asked for for her birthday. John, my son-in-law worked all weekend to get it finished in time for her birthday. She is opening my gift there. It's a Strawberry Shortcake doll. They are so old collectables from the 80's. Hallmark is carrying them again.

Bob came over this afternoon and did a load of laundry. I was working on a sermon for March 26th. I hope to be better prepared for that one. It's a ways off so perhaps I will have some more thoughts to offer by then.

More even later...

I went over to the Country Time Antique Mall this afternoon and found two nice large crockery containers for Leslie's flowers this summer. I texted  her about them since they were only $35.00 apiece and she wanted them. So I bought them. She will pay me at church today.  She says they are usually $75.00 each. So, they are a bargain.

When I got home at 5:00 PM, Bob came over and stayed an hour or so. After he left, I took my shower and Missy and I lay on the sofa until bedtime. I found an old movie to watch and stayed up until 9:30 and watched it.  I went to bed at 9:30.

Friday and Utopia

I slept well last night. I did get up about 4:45 but had had lots of sleep.I got around and came in the den to check my e-mail after I had my breakfast and fed Missy. She wanted up on the daybed behind me and I carefully lifted her up there. She weighs 18 pounds and my limit to lift is 10 pounds. I fudged a little but I am working on my 5th week following my surgery so I think it is alright.

We will finish off the beef veggie soup for lunch with whole wheat crackers and sharp cheddar cheese but first I will go to Utopia at 9:30. Today is cinnamon roll day and I always also get a Utopiachino on the 1st and 3rd Fridays and a cinnamon roll. They are kind of expensive but I need to treat myself every once in a while or I feel slighted. :)

I got the crossword puzzle finished this morning too.

I need to vacuum today. I did the bare floors a couple of days ago but need to do the carpets today. I also want to go through my VCR tapes to put them in the box for the rummage sale on the 3rd. I no longer have a VCR tape player so I can no longer use them.  I may as well try to sell them.  Some people still have VCRs. I gave mine to Bob after I found I had no port for the VCR player on my new TV. I used the one I had for the DVD player.

More later....

Just look at this mess of leaves left on the ground in front of Bill and Evelyn's apartment. Betty, the landlady had a couple clean them up last year. I will have to try to get her to do that this year. I worked and work on them before my surgery but there are many trees around the fourplex and they just keep blowing on our grass. the grass will be smothered this year if she doesn't get it cleaned up.

This mess is next to Marilyn R's apartment and the grass will be killer there too. The worst though is on the east side of my apartment.

This is my flowerbed area. It is a mess. You can see the lavender is still alive and my red mulch is showing some but the leaves are inches deep here.  Last week, I took my blower and blew some of the leaves away from my back door. They were so deep that I couldn't open the door.

This is just south of my back door near the hose storage. It must be six inches deep.

This is just south of the east above ground flowerbed. near the air conditioning unit.  I have worked at cleaning this mess up in the past but should not do it this year since I am just past the 4th week of recuperation after the surgery.

What a mess! I will text Betty later and ask her to have that couple come again this year and bag up these leaves.

Maybe she will but maybe she won't. She has had to re-carpet the house across the street again...the second time since she bought this property three years ago. The guy she rented to this time got the carpet so filthy that it couldn't be cleaned and she had to replace it again. They have been working on that house ever since the inspection. The guy had not lived in the house regularly and had let his nephew "house sit" for him and he had a teenage son there too.

They had been smoking in there too and  their teen aged son even broke a hole in the wall. I told her to be careful who she rented to next time. Those two guys behavior was so erratic that I always locked my car at night. I wasn't sure what they might do. They picked up cigarette butts in the parking lot next door and smoked them. They also asked some of the tenants over there next door for pot. We don't want that sort of people in the neighborhood. Betty said she had vetted them but she still put up "no trespassing" signs in our parking lot. One of the men worked at the refinery and had for over a year but that's certainly not a reference.

What a mess! This has always been such a nice neighborhood too.

I have texted Betty about the leaves and she says they will get to that this weekend. Great!

More later...

I sat outside with Missy in the 70 degree weather this afternoon after lunch. We did finish off the beef vegetable soup. I even took some of it to Marilyn R.

I lay on the sofa with Missy for an hour or so after Bob left. I raked a few leaves away from the side of the house too.

Then about 5:15 Bob came back to watch the news and PBS with Mark Shields and  David Brooks!  He left about 7:00 and I took my shower and put my pjs on and got ready for bed. I will try to stay up until 8:30 or so.

Thursday and Lunch at Sirloin Stockade

I slept pretty well last night. I finally got up at 4:45 and got myself ready for the day. Then I fixed my breakfasts and Missy's.

As soon as the optometrist office was open, I went to Caney and picked up my contact lenses. Then I came home and worked on getting the boxes ready for the rummage sale at the senior center and got them priced.

After lunch at Sirloin Stockade I came home and lay down for a rest awhile.

Keith called to tell me he had put Bob's notebook in the mail. He put Windows 8 on it and Microsoft Office 2010 too. It should be here next week. Bob will give it or sell it to Denise when it comes. His Dell, the one Scott gave me, works very well for Bob. It now has Freecell on it too. Bob likes to play Freecell.

When I got up from my rest I baked cookies again. It's almost 3:00 now and I am resting again.

More later....

Karan called. Isabell's daughter, Camille, called and wants a couple f elders to come administer to her with oil.  Isabell is in the hospital at Parsons with COPD and is in really bad shape. Karan and I drove over there and anointed her with oil and prayed over her.  I really don't think she will make it. She is on oxygen and her heart and kidneys are failing.  I imagine we will be asked to do a funeral one day soon. Isabell is my age...in fact one month younger. But she looks like Methuselah...poor woman. She has had terrible health for years.

When I got home, Bob was here watching the news and being company for Missy. he had a few cookies and we watched TV until 7:00 when he went home.   Then I took my shower and lay with Missy on the sofa for an hour or so. I think I went to bed at 8:30.

Wednesday and Bunco at Asbury Village

I slept pretty well last night. I did wake up once and go to the bathroom but I managed to get back to sleep. I finally woke up at 5:45...late for me.

I will make soup today for lunch. I picked up the makings at the Walmart here last evening. We have some wheat crackers that Bob left here and I will get some cheddar cheese at Country Mart this morning. Maybe I will make some more cookies. I have been eating a couple every evening.

This afternoon at 2:00, I will attend the Asbury Village Bunco games. That is usually fun.  I will not go to PINCH this evening. I have not been going out in the evening while I am healing.  I need the rest at home by then.

More later....

Missy and I have both had our breakfasts and I am doing a small load of laundry. I am washing my towels and wash cloths about every other day nowadays.  Today is four weeks since my surgery.  Just two more weeks and I can resume my baths and give up the showers.  I still do not intend to go back to see that doctor that did my surgery. I will just trust that by six weeks I will be well.

I got the soup on with the stew meat too. Then I went to Country Mart and bought some sharp cheddar cheese. While I was at it, I bought the church some more plastic forks. We were out on Sunday.

More even later...

The soup was very good and I have plenty for another meal. We will have it again on Friday.

Also I had a good time at the Bunco game at Asbury Village.  Now I am very tired and will lay down for a bit.

I took the forks out to the church after the game. Then I stopped by Haymaker's Furniture on my way back to look at recliners. If Missy wouldn't damage it I would be tempted to buy one. She has damaged the one I have now with her claws by climbing into it. They had two "Best" chairs that were the right colors.

More even later...

Bob came over at 5:15 to read the newspaper. It was late. He brought the Journal too so we each read a newspaper. After he left, I took my shower and searched in vain for something to watch on TV. Finally at 8:30, Missy and I went to bed.

Hairdo Day and Lunch at Great China

I slept really well again last night. I got up just before 5:00 AM and dressed and got ready for the day. Bob will keep my car and go visit his sister, Betty, while I get my hair done this morning. I will pick him up here at 8:20, as usual.

After Kathy is finished with me and Bob comes to pick me up, we will go to Goodys and look around and maybe Walmart until Great China opens at 11:00.   After that, we will come home and perhaps I will get a pedicure. Karan told me they do a good job at Happy Nails here in town. We will see. I haven't had one since Leslie treated me to one a couple of months ago.

More later...

Both Missy and I have had our breakfasts and we are watching the news and weather.  According to the local weather we have no more rain in our forecast. I think we only got a tenth of an inch last night. That's not enough to do a lot of good.  We really need rain!

I texted both Denise and Dennis that the Cherokee Businesses are looking for a security guard. Dennis was wanting a job in security earlier and there were no openings. Now there is an opening. Maybe he will apply for that one.

My great granddaughter, Cheyenne's, birthday is Thursday. She will be five. She wanted a playhouse for her birthday and John and Leslie are building her one on their property. That will be so cute! I will try to share a photo of it.

Here's the plan. I don't know how closely they will follow it but it is cute!

Looks like they have been working on it after dark. They are probably trying to get it finished before Thursday.

 More later...

Bob came over early and watched the news but left at 5:50 to go back home. Sycamore Landing was having a Valentine Day party.

I took my shower and watched TV with Missy until 9:00 or so when she and I went to bed.

Monday and Floor Cleaning Day

I slept poorly again last night. I went to bed really tired at 8:00 but woke up near midnight and sleep was off and on after that. I finally just got up at 4:15 AM. If I could make myself stay awake until at least 9:00 PM, I would sleep better.

I will clean the apartment's bare floors this morning.  I have been doing my housework piecemeal since my surgery. I will warm up the Sloppy Joes for our lunch and brown the buns and cook some more french fries.

Tomorrow morning we will go to Independence to get my hair done and Bob will visit his sister, Betty, while I do that. Then Bob and I will eat at Great China. So it will be Wednesday before I will vacuum the apartment unless I work up the energy to do it tomorrow afternoon.

More later...

I have fed Missy and myself and dressed and are ready for the day. The bed is made and dishes put away in the dishwasher. I will set the table for lunch in a bit. When Karan is finished with her exercise class, she and I will take the tea carafes back to Chartwell's at the college. They are the company that catered our dinner at church yesterday.

I see 188.000 folks in California have been evacuated.  The dam there has a hole in it and if it gives way, many towns would be inundated with water. What a mess! They are using helicopters to drop big rocks into that hole to try to keep that from happening. It occurred to me that the rocks might break that hole even larger. I hope not!

We have a 40% chance of rain today and an 80% chance tonight.  We can use the moisture!

More even later...

I took Missy out over the weekend when the weather was 81 degrees and she really loved lying in the grass...even though it was dead.

Such a funny cat!

I took the tea carafes back to Chartwell's at the college this morning. I didn't need Karan to help me since  two of their employees helped me instead. They did not have the bill ready yet but will call me when they do.

We did have our warmed up Sloppy Joes and french fries. They were good. I had two left over and took them over to Marilyn R.  This afternoon, I have laid on the sofa with Missy and rested.  I wasn't up to much else. I have been trying to take it easy in the afternoons but I want to go to Bunco at Asbury Village  tomorrow afternoon and so tomorrow will be a busy day. I have made my reservation.

More even later...

Bob did not come over this evening. It was forecast for rain and I believe we got some.   I looked out later in the evening and the blacktop on the drive was wet and raindrops were coming down. I watched the National Geographic channel last night after my shower until 8:00 and then Missy and I went to bed.

Sunday and Coffeecake and a Valentine Dinner

I slept very well last night. I only awoke once and went right back to sleep. I got up shortly before 5:00 AM. I will bake my coffeecake after I feed Missy and myself breakfast. I guess it will get eaten. If not, I will bring it home for breakfasts and to share with Marilyn R, my neighbor. She really likes it.

We are having a catered Valentine Day dinner after church even though Valentine Day isn't until Tuesday. Many of our number live over 30 miles away and are elderly and do not need to drive at night anymore. There are too many deer out after dark. We see them dead along the highways all the time.

I finally received another of our textbooks yesterday in the mail. That should give us 6 books now and enough for us to share so I will not have to make copies of our lessons.

I'd better get our breakfasts and get back to this later....so...more later.

We've had our breakfasts and I have made the coffeecake and read the paper as well as done the crossword puzzle. Now I need to ice the coffeecake.  Then I will be ready for the day. I will read my lesson for Church School.

so..more even later...

Everything went well at church including the well catered dinner. Almost everyone filled dishes of leftovers to take home.

When I got home, I did my newsletters and then lay on the sofa for the rest of the afternoon. I had done all the dishes and was on my feet for too long. I needed the rest. It's still been under four weeks since my surgery.

Bob came in early and we watched the news and some of 60 Minutes.  It was mostly about the Grammys and neither of us are much impressed with what today's kids say is "music".  To me, it's mostly noise.  He left early and Missy and I continued to lay on the sofa after my shower until 8:00 when I finally just gave up and we went to bed.
