Saturday and Breakfast at Eggberts and A Birthday Party

I slept very well last night again and, in fact, didn't wake up until 5:45. Then I got myself around and fed Missy and took out the trash and then picked Bob up for breakfast at Eggbert's.

That was a fiasco. There was a reunion of some kind in the next room and they were so noisy yelling and carrying on that we could not even visit. We left as soon as we ate and paid our bills. That was a waste. I would rather have had just my oatmeal and peace and quiet during breakfast, They were so noisy no one else in the main dining room could visit either.

I watched some of the royal wedding this morning. She looked very happy afterward but he was pretty solemn.

I don't really have a plan for today. If it doesn't rain, I will water later on.

Leslie and John got to Galveston late last evening and will have left this morning for their cruise to Bermuda.

I will bake my coffeecake for the church school class in the morning. I have the sermon.

More later....

It did rain this morning. Then it stopped.

So, I went to the market and picked up Wayne's birthday cake this morning. I wasn't sure they would have it ready that early but they did. So, we are ready for the party at 3:00.

I heated up my basil tomato soup for lunch and had it with cheese and crackers. I am full now. I had had a large breakfast and lunch was just too much.

Rick and Carmen's son, Alan, is leaving to go back to Alabama today. His girl friend and he made up. And he got a good paying job in the oilfields there.

I gave Carmen my old two year old Hoover vacuum sweeper, the bags and the instruction book. She had sent hers home with Alan so he would have a sweeper for his apartment. I didn't need it since Leslie gave me a new one that picks up cat hair much better then the Hoover. The new one is a Black and Decker.

Bill and Evelyn and Marilyn and I went over to Wayne's and we took a strawberry decorated birthday cake and Marilyn provided the vanilla ice cream, the plates and the forks. We sang "Happy Birthday" to him for his 98 years tomorrow.  His daughter, Darlene, was there too and Merrill came in soon after we got there.  We went today with our party because tomorrow his family will be there.

It rained really hard again about an hour ago. But I believe the rain has moved on now. We are under a storm watch until 10:00 this evening.

I'm not sure I will take my bath at 7:00 as I usually do until I find out what the storm watch  will bring.

I did take my bath at 7:00...the worst of the storm was over until the middle of the night. Missy and I watched two episodes of "Nature" on Amazon Prime TV. At 9:00, we went to bed.

Friday and Exercises and Then Utopia

I slept very well last night! The melatonin worked! I couldn't make it until 9:00. I went to bed a little after 8:30 and I slept well.

I got up about 5:15 this morning, dressed and fed myself and Missy. She wants to go outside but I want to watch the early news so she will have to wait.

I will go to exercise class and afterward to Utopia for a Utopiachino and a cinnamon roll. They have wonderful cinnamon rolls the first and third Friday of each month. And you get two Utopiachinos and can take one home and put it in the freezer for later.A group of us from the senior center meet there for them.

Other then that, I have nothing else planned for the day. So....more later..

I have swept off both the patio and the carport and even moved my storage cabinet away from the wall and cleaned all the debris from behind it. I took Missy out briefly but a little dog came over and I put her back in the apartment.  The dog seemed friendly enough but Missy was not acting friendly so I insisted that she go back into the house.  She was not a happy kitty. She is lying here in the sunshine in the living room now and seems happy enough.

More even later...

I believe my daughter and her husband left today to drive to Galveston to leave from there for their cruise to the Bahamas.  They will be gone until Thursday. I imagine they will have a great time. Cyndi and Jeff went with them.

More later...

A few of the clowns at exercise class.:} After exercise class I did go to Utopia and had my Utopiachino and a cinnamon roll.

Later I went to Country Mart to order a strawberry cake with strawberry icing for Wayne's 98th birthday. The neighbors will celebrate it tomorrow and I will pick up the cake at 2:00 tomorrow. Sunday is his actual birthday but his family will be there Sunday and we don't want to interfere with their celebration. I bought a couple of cards and asked Marilyn to choose the one she thought most appropriate. She signed it and I signed it and then I  asked Evelyn to sign it too for her and Bill. They have known Wayne for years so I invited them too. Merrill, his son, will be there at 3:00 when we arrive with the cake. Marilyn is taking vanilla ice cream.

Missy and I went outside for awhile this afternoon and while we were there Bob A. came. He visited for awhile and we agreed to go to breakfast together tomorrow at 7:00. I will pick him up. Joanne has gone to Wichita to see her grandchildren graduate from high school. She will be gone until Monday. He will water her flowers while she is gone if we don't get the rain we are forecast for tonight.

At 7:00, I took my bath and got ready for bed and then laid down with Missy on the sofa and we watched two episodes of Nature, her favorite program. At 9:00, I went on to bed. Missy will probably be along shortly. She was still on the sofa when I came in here to finish today's blog.

Thursday and Cleaning Day

I slept poorly last night and awoke at 2:30 to go to the bathroom.  I took my melatonin too but it did not work this time. Finally at 3:30, I just got up. No since just lying there when my shoulder hurts. I came into the den and read the Chronicle. It's 4:00 AM now and I will soon dress and get ready for my day. I want to wash my sheets and the dirty bath mats that Missy peed on this week. They are in the washer now. Then I will clean the apartment like I do each Thursday.  I had better have a quiet day today. I will be very tired if I get everything done I want to get done.

More later...

It's 5:45 now.

I have the first load of laundry in the dryer and the sheets in the washer. I have dressed and done my makeup and are ready for the day. I am not sure what I will do for lunch. Depending how I feel after I finish my cleaning, I may go up to Kansas Buffet. Or I do have some dinners in the freezer I could microwave. I will make that decision after I finish the housework.

More later...

It's 8:15 now and I have done the floors and the carpet and started the dusting. I have also remade the bed after the sheets were dry.

I am resting now. The sweeper Leslie bought for me really does a great job. There's always a ball of cat hair as large as my fist to empty.  And I vacuum every Thursday.  That's phenomenal! I still can't move the sofa out since it weighs more then 15 pounds. Sometime when Bob or Leslie and John are over here, I will ask one of them to move the sofa out from the wall so I can vacuum back there. Missy sometimes goes back there too and I am sure she sheds there too.  There may be 5 years worth of cat hair back there.

After lunch....

I had my sweet and sour chicken for lunch and afterward had one of my Schwan's ice cream bars for dessert. I need to go to Brahms and get milk and yogurt this afternoon. I am out of milk altogether.  I will need it for tomorrow's breakfast oatmeal.

I went over to Brahms and bought yogurt and milk. Now I am fixed for the weekend.  I saw Dennis, my nephew, there. He spoke briefly. But rushed on in to the Brahms store.

I visited some with Maurine today. She is my neighbor to the east at the apartments next door. We sat on her patio for awhile and then she had to go in. Then she walked down while Missy and I were outside and we visited awhile again about my flowers.  She wanted to see the potted ones in front. The sun was so hot and she is so fair that once again, she needed to go in. She is 86 years old and very frail.

After the mail came I read some more of my book. I am very tired as I have cleaned and done the laundry, remade the bed and even watered the flowers. It is 3:00 now and I cannot read anymore. I have the sermon on Sunday so maybe I had better go over my material.

More later...

Vic brought me two quarts of strawberries from Stillwell Oklahoma. He went down there this morning and picked them. I took some of them to Maurine. She had not had any strawberries this year yet and I could not eat two quarts by myself. I did have a fruit dish of them this evening. It was good of him to think of me. He would not take anything for them. He just gave them to me. He took some to Wayne too...Wayne is my neighbor that will be 97 on Sunday. Vic had the entire back of his SUV loaded with quarts and quarts of strawberries he had picked this morning down at Stillwell.

At 7:00 I will take my bath and watch some more "Nature" episodes on Amazon Prime TV. I will try to make it until 9:00 this evening before I go to bed..

Wednesday and Exercises and Red Cross

I slept very well last night. I only woke up once at 1:30 and went to the bathroom and took my med and a melatonin tablet. Then I didn't get up until after 5:00 AM.

Missy slept well too. And furthermore, she made it through the night without peeing on the mat under her litter box.

I have myself ready for the day and fed myself and Missy. She wants to go outside and in a bit, I will take her out. Last evening I took the blower and blew off all the terrible mess on the parking lot. Later we went out on the patio and she was very good about staying nearby and lying on the patio. So we may try that again late. I will go to exercise class this morning and later, at 3:00, I will go be an escort for the Red Cross Bloodmobile at the First Baptist Church at  3:00 until 6:00. I will miss Bunco this afternoon at Asbury Village. ..not a problem.

More later...

I just went out and watered my flowers. I also took the boxes I was keeping in the bedroom closet over to the trash barrels. I really don't have room for those boxes even though they were nice Amazon and Keurig boxes. I did keep the box for that vacuum Leslie brought for me. You never know. I may someday need that. The vacuum works beautifully at this point. Tomorrow I will vacuum again and clean the bare floors in the kitchen and bathroom.

More even later...

I did go to exercise class and afterward Kay and Sheilah asked me to compose a letter to send to Deloris, who manages the senior center.  Deloris has had a several serious health problems including a serious heart condition. She has been off work for several months with one health problem after another. Sheilah and Kay have been covering for her. I had warned Bob, who is on the board there, that there could be serious legal problems if anything serious happened while Deloris was on the job unless she had obtained releases from her doctors. He must have shared that with the rest of the board and they agreed they needed to get those medical releases.

So today, Sheilah and Kay asked me to write the letter for them. I got that done and took it back up to them before I went to Walmart to get my groceries. They were satisfied with it and will get the board members to sign it before sending it on to Deloris.

More later...Missy is calling me. :)

Sure enough, she had used the litter box and wanted it cleaned out ASAP. That cat!

I had the tomato basil soup and cheese and crackers for lunch and it is really good! I got it at Walmart. Its kind of expensive but not near as expensive as Schwans. One can of two bowls was $2.37 plus tax and the brand is excellent. Gay told me about it. It is called "Amy's Organic Soup".  I will have to tell Leslie about it. Schwans is $9.99 plus tax and delivery cost. Of course there is more in the Schwans package ...enough for about three bowls.

More later...

Well, the Journal came and I read it in about five minutes and took it over to Marilyn's mailbox. In about 40 minutes, I will go up to the First Baptist Church where the Bloodmobile is held. Kay will be there to help with the escorting.

So more even later...

I worked the Red Cross Bloodmobile with Kay until shortly after 6:00PM and then came on home and took Missy out on the patio for awhile. Later about 7:00 I took my bath and laid down on the sofa to watch "Nature" on Amazon Prime TV. I couldn't convince Missy to join me there. After half the program, I awoke on the sofa and then noticed Missy was lying next to  me. I had been exhausted and went to sleep during the program.

I went on in to bed and she soon followed me there.

Tuesday After the Storm

We had a lot of wind and rain last night  (my gauge says 4 inches) but I slept through most of it.  I heard it..,but I sleep well in wind and rain.

I got up shortly before 5:00 and got myself ready for the day. I didn't know what to expect from last night's storm. After I ate breakfast and fed Missy, I looked out and sure enough, there was a ton of water on my side of the carport and the entire area was covered with leaves and small branches that had blown in. I spent twenty minutes sweeping off the water but I really need to use the blower to get rid of it. It was just on my side of the carport....strange. I hate to use the blower when my neighbors here are sleeping though so I will wait until I get back from delivering the cakes.

Bob has a meeting this morning so he won't be going to help with the cakes. I will manage.

Missy wanted to go out but when she saw all that water on the carport, she came back in. When I went out to sweep off the patio, she was able to go out for awhile then. I will take some photos of the mess and post them here.

And it evidently didn't hurt the rose bush.

So more later....

After I delivered the cakes and got my hair done, I came on home and got my car washed. After last night's storm, it was a mess.  I need to vacuum it out too. I will take the old vacuum sweeper out to the carport and do that now.

I went out to church on my way home from Independence and printed off the bulletins. That's done now.

I need to decide what I want to lunch and whether I will eat out today. I have food in the freezer so I should just eat that.

So...more later...

I ate my frozen Chicken Parmesan from Walmart $1.88.  But it was pretty good. Later I went to get a mini sonic blast.

When I got home, I set up the blower and cleaned off the drive. When I finished, I was exhausted so Missy and I went out on the patio and enjoyed the nice evening. The Schwan's man came and I paid for my order. and put it away and then we went back out for awhile. We are both tired so I am going to take my bath and we will try to stay up until 9:00 before we go to bed.

By the way, I tried one of my Gold 'N Nugit bars from Schwan's ...very good.

Monday and Cake Baking and Exercises

I slept well last night and until almost 5:00. I woke up once around 2:30 and took my med and a melatonin. That probably helped. After I got up, I dressed and got myself ready for the day. I fed Missy and then myself.

I also started the laundry. Yes, Missy peed on her mat again. It's in the dryer now along with the others. I do those mats at least once a week and sometimes twice.

I will go to exercise class today. Before I go, I will bake my cake for the First Christian Church in Independence. I need to remember to pick up Karan's and that is in the freezer at church.  I don't know if Bob will go with me tomorrow to deliver them or not ...probably not.

More later...

Well, I have my cake in the oven and will get it out about 8:30. ..before I leave for exercise class.  I will ice it when I get home. It will be cool by then.

Missy and I went outside for awhile. I swept off the patio and the carport. Then I watered the potted plants. The flowerbeds still looked damp from last evening's watering.  I will water them again this evening.

I just folded the laundry out. I had washed my washcloths too and my PJs.  The white bathmat  was not quite dry so I put it back in the dryer for 15 more minutes. I will be interested in seeing what the May electric bill will be. I have been air conditioning..... especially at night and of course the dryer is electric too.

More later...

I went to Chanute to visit with Gay. She fixed us lunch.  She got back from her trail ride with ten friends. They had a great fun weekend.  We had a nice visit.

I went by Phyllis F's house and picked up her cake. I was going to get Bob's too but he hadn't baked it yet. I will get it in the morning and drop by the church afterward and get Karan's from the freezer there.

I checked the mail and I had a beautiful Mother's Day card from Keith and Esther. I set it on my server with Leslie's.

I had better check Missy's litter box now. Sure enough, she had peed on the clean mat under her litter box.I put it in the washer and put a clean one under the litter box.

I just stepped out and took some photos of the "miniature" rose bush. It is at least four feet tall now. But the yellow buds are opening and they are lovely.

I will post them here after the news is over. Here is one view.

 Here's another...

And one more..

Now keep in mind that it's just beginning to bloom but we have rain and hail forecast for tonight and I don't know what it will look like tomorrow. But at least it got to begin to bloom.

More later...

We are forecast for large hail and damaging winds tonight according to Channel 6.

I took my bath at 7:00 and Missy and I watched a couple of episodes of "Nature". Then at 9:00, we went to bed.

Sunday and Mother's Day

I slept fairly well last night....probably because I took a melatonin tablet in the middle of the night. It was almost 5:00 AM when I finally got up.

I have dressed for church and fed myself and Missy and even went outside for awhile. I have read the newspaper and done the crossword puzzle too. I took the paper over to Marilyn's mailbox.

I treated myself to a pedicure yesterday afternoon.  I used some of Keith's money to do that. Then this morning I painted my own fingernails too. That's my celebration for Mother's Day. The kids posted a photo of all of us that was taken on my 80th birthday party. It's good of all of us so they used it.

Here it is:

.Image may contain: Keith Miller, Scott R Miller, Leslie Brooks and Margie Miller, people smiling, people sitting

It's a pretty good photo of all of us.  I have such great kids! I especially think about that when I visit someone like the Nancy I visited on Friday. She only has one child, a son, and he's just too busy to call her. If she wants to talk to him, she says she has to make the call. My boys call nearly every week and I see Leslie at church most Sundays. She takes care of my cell phone cost and takes me to Kansas City when I go to see my doctor or have my surgery. Every once in a while she will call and we will go to Bartlesville together. She also takes me to Tulsa to catch my planes when I fly somewhere.

Bob A. is going to come by to pick me up for church this morning. Phyllis F. is gone. She went to Overland Park to see her daughter and her family for Mother's Day. Bob has baked the coffeecake today. I baked the banana nut bread last week when he was gone to Joanne's family reunion with her.

More later....

He came about 9:00 and picked me up. On the way to church Joanne called but he hit the wrong Bluetooth button and accidentally hung up. When we got to church, he called her back.  Her garage door wouldn't open and she was going to miss church. She and her daughter, Nancy, attend the Assembly of God. There is usually a rod that hangs down on the inside that you can pull in such an emergency.

Image may contain: indoor
These cards and gifts were given to me for Mother's Day. The little fan with orange handle was made for me by my youngest great during her Sunday School class and given to me afterward.

Leslie brought me the very cute mug for Mother's Day and two real cute cards.  The service was neat and not just on the theme but also celebrating Mother's Day. We all brought photos of our mothers and gave little testimonies of them.

He left church early to go try to help Joanne with her garage door. Leslie and John took me to lunch at Eggbert's in Coffeyville. They had the little girls too and also Becky came. The lunch was very good.I had the Honey Chicken Salad . That included a very good muffin., chicken salad and fruit. I ate it all.  The restaurant was packed. Leslie was on call and had to go over to the hospital at 2:00 so John brought me home. He had the girls too.

About 3:30 I went by our Sonic and had a mini sonic blast with Reeses. It is my favorite treat.  I saw Bob there in the drive through. He must have been getting a hot dog or something. He spends a great deal of time over at Joanne's. But evidently they are both needing the companionship.

It's almost 5:00 now. At 6:00 I will turn on 60 Minutes. After that is over, I will take my bath and put my PJs on and watch something on Amazon Prime.

Missy and I usually go on to bed when that is over.
