Saturday and Poor Sleep

I slept poorly last night. My arm hurt and after 1:30AM it woke me up. From then on it was off and on. Sometime in the middle of the night I got up and came in to the recliner. I lay here for twenty minutes but still couldn't sleep so I went back to bed. I pulled out one of my extra pillows and laid my arm on that and finally got back to sleep. The next time I woke up it was 5:30AM so I just got up.

I dressed and got myself ready for the day. I have had my oatmeal and coffee and even a breakfast bar. I will have my chai latte next.

When I opened the front door I had two yellow cats here for their breakfast and put the two blue bowls of cat food out for them. One was a small yellow cat and the other one a little larger. I haven't had any of the gray cats come yet. I have washed the bowls just in case they do show up. There are two of them.....mama cat and scruffy gray cat. I haven't seen the Big Yellow Tom yet either.

More later...

Scruffy gray cat and Big Yellow Tom finally showed up for his/her breakfasts and I put food out there for them. After they ate and left, I brought in the food again.

I have been watching the news and have also been putting liners on some of the shelves in the kitchen and bathroom cabinets.  That will make it easier to keep those shelves clean.  If I get a chance, I will buy another couple of bags of those foam liners.

I put some in my frig too to keep the moisture down. It helps keep the bananas nice. I also put those in a plastic bag and put a folded paper towel in there with them to absorb moisture and twist a plastic twistee around the top after pressing out as much air as possible. I can usually get nine days out of my bananas that way. Even if the skins get dark, the fruit inside is nice and fresh.

More later...

I've been reading all afternoon. I took enough time out to install my new camera/mic for the new computer Keith gave me. I texted Leslie for some instructions on the hook up for the speakers. I had unhooked them and then later recalled I would need them. The new camera is just a camera with a mic...no speakers...so I hooked them up again. It took me several tries to find the right port but I finally did..

When I stood up to go watch the news, I realized I had a terrible back ache...too much sitting I guess. I don't know what will be worse tonight...the right arm or the back . I have mislaid my heating pad somewhere...probably in the attic in one of the boxes. Maybe if I soak in the tub tonight that might help. I took two Aleve right away but it doesn't seem to be doing much to help.

It's nearly 4:00PM now and I will go watch the news at 4:00PM.

More later...I will also go eat a banana. That will be my supper.

I had my banana and then as I was putting cat food out front for Big Yellow Tom, I saw a boy across the street throw a rock at a girl who was walking by out front. He missed but was all ready to throw another one when I stepped back outside and told him "shame!". He just looked at me. and I said "How do you feel about being a bully?" He just looked at me. Then I said, "You don't think you're a bully when you try to throw rocks at a girl?"  I shook my head several times and then came back into the house.

I hope he doesn't try to get back at me. I just couldn't let it go by. Kids are so different any more. If their parents try to teach them any better behavior, they must just ignore them.

We will see.

I took my bath about 7:30PM and I will try to stay up and read until 9:00PM. I am hoping I will be able to sleep better tonight. Tomorrow at 11:00AM CT I will watch the church service streamed online from Toronto, Canada. Their website is centreplace.ca. That congregation has been streaming services for a couple of years.

Friday and a Severe Storm Warning

I got up about 5:00AM this morning. I slept pretty well. My right arm is still sore but not as bad as yesterday. It stormed last night. I dressed and fixed my oatmeal for breakfast and have had my coffee too.

One little yellow cat braved the rain for his/her breakfast. Now there are two yellow cats out there. Luckily I had taken all three bowls out there.

John, my son-in-law is painting again. Leslie found him some canvasses at Hobby Lobby in Bartlesville. I hadn't realized they were open again. He painted cats yesterday and sent me a photo of them saying they didn't eat cat food. He offered the painting to me and he will get it to me when he can. I have one wall in my dining room that I can hang it on.

 No photo description available.

When I turned on the weather channel on TV this morning and found that we are under a severe thunderstorm warning.  It looks quiet out there. There's not even any rain yet. I heard it storming last night but managed to sleep through it.

This is the painting John did of Mini, their Corgi. It is a great likeness!
No photo description available.

More later....

It's got darker now out there and has begun raining now. I went out and picked up the cat bowls.  I didn't want what cat food was still in them to get wet. The cats are gone now. They are probably looking for shelter from the rain.

More even later...

The rain didn't last long here. My brother- in-law texted me that they have thunder and rain over at Coffeyville.  We have nothing here in Caney. It has even lightened up outside.  Coffeyville must have gotten the weather they have north of Coffeyville at Independence.

More later...

The rain has started again here. It is really pouring out there.

John and Leslie were on their way to Bartlesville and stopped by so John could give me the cat painting. Leslie hung it for me. Then they left. I was happy to have the painting because I am a "cat" person.

When I got my mail, I got my large hooks that I want to put in the studs in the garage so I can hang  some of my tools. I managed to get two in without the studs. I asked Leslie if they had a stud finder  and John said they didn't. I texted Suzanne to see if Steve had one I could borrow. He has one but she was already in town working the food pantry. She said they would get it to me later this week.

If there was a hardware store around here I would buy one but the closest hardware store would be either Coffeyville, Independence or Bartlesville. I don't plan to go to any of those places until next Wednesday when I have my first hair appointment in two months.

I read until lunchtime and then  I thawed a hamburger patty ad a bun and made myself a hamburger and I still had some of Suzanne's potato salad from Sunday and I ate that too.

Then I tried to read my new book on the Kindle. It is not very entertaining so far but since I bought it, I will read it.

I see a yellow cat out there waiting for supper.  I think it's Big Yellow Tom so I will take a moment and feed him. Back later...

Yes, it was Big Yellow Tom. He is eating there now and I put the double dish out there too just in case another cat comes for dinner too. He finished and I brought in the dishes until another cat comes for a meal.

It's almost 5:30PM and time for the CBS news. So I will take a break for the news.

More later...

I took my bath about 7:00PM and watched a few programs on Amazon Prime  and then came in the den to play a game until bedtime.

About 9:05PM, I went on to bed.

Thursday and Cleaning Day

I tossed and turned after midnight last night. My arm hurt terribly all night. I finally took some Aleve and got back to sleep after a lot of tossing and turning.

I will do some more cleaning today.  I will try to get to the dining room today. It is so small and full of furniture and crowded that it is hard to vacuum.

I have had my coffee and oatmeal and will soon fix my Chai Latte...I finally found it at Walmart in Coffeyville yesterday. I also got milk chocolate.

It's supposed to be 80 degrees today and the only day this week that it's not supposed to rain. If the yard dries, I want one of the girls to mow for me. It's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow.  I have texted the mom to ask about it. That 80 degree weather had better dry that grass.

I started my new book last evening. It is strange so far. The name of the book is "The Bright Side of Going Dark". I can't seem to get into it so far.

A yellow cat came for breakfast this morning and now another yellow cat is here eating. I have taken the food in after the first one ate because the birds were coming to eat. The second cat has eaten and is gone now so I brought the food in again.

More later..

I have been reading the new book this morning and I have to admit that it doesn't make much sense. I have to put it down from time to time.

Gray scruffy cat came by shortly before Krystal came and ate his dinner. He was finished before they came and I took the food in the house.

The grass was only barely damp by the time Krystal and the girls came . The younger one mowed today. Her sister started the mower for her. Before they came at 2:00PM I began trimming the hedge. After I got that done and cleaned up the mess, I was exhausted. I am very tired today. I didn't sleep well last night and have been very tired all day. My stomach is kind of queasy too. I ate the last of my chicken pot pies for lunch. I will order some more for next week's delivery.

I shouldn't have tried to trim the hedge, I guess.  But when the yard was finished, I was glad I did. The yard looks nice. I won't trim today and maybe I won't have to at all. I trimmed last week. I'll look it over tomorrow and maybe get to it this weekend.  It is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow too.

I have both plants outside today. They have been in the house during those rainy days. I haven't cleaned anything today. I just don't feel up to it. Maybe I can get to it tomorrow. I did mix up some more hummingbird food and put it out back for the hummingbird.

More later....it;s nearly 4:00PM now and I want to watch the news.

I have felt bad most of the afternoon. I ate a banana earlier. That's about all I can eat I don't know what the problem is except  lack of sleep last night.

I hope I can sleep better tonight. It's supposed to rain tonight and all day tomorrow. I brought both plants in and watered them.

It's time for the CBS news so I will sign off for now and get back to it later...

Wednesday and Breakfast Out

I slept pretty well last night although about 4:00AM I woke up with my right arm hurting. I don't know what that was  all about unless it is because I had been laying on it. I didn't realize I had not been lying on my back.

I got up about 5:00AM and got myself ready for the day.  I drove over to Coffeyville and had breakfast with Bob at Eggberts since they had reopened. The waitresses were wearing face masks and every other table and booth were cordoned off. We had our regular breakfast and it was very good, as usual. Afterward I took Bob back home.

Then I went to Walmart and bought my groceries and then went out to the Woodshed and bought my $1.35 a gallon gas.

I stopped at the bank and had them transfer my stimulus check into my savings account. I had tried to do that online like I usually do and it would not let me do it online.  I have no idea what the problem was since I make a temporary transfer every month so I can pay my rent before my social security comes in. It's never been a problem.

Then I went out to church and made a copy of my driver's license so in case we get that second round of the virus they are predicting, I can vote by mail. I put that form in the mail afterward.

I had fed three cats this morning before I left for Coffeyville. I also had my coffee and chai latte.

More later...

I had one small yellow cat and Scruffy Gray come for lunch when they he/she noticed I was home.

I have been listening to Alexa playing Kenny Rogers music this afternoon. I don't want to start my new Kindle book today. I will save it for tomorrow. The yard is soaked today after three days of rain. I have no idea when I can get the yard mowed. I was hoping for Thursday afternoon but it depends on whether it gets dry or not Thursday morning.

I couldn't decide what to have for lunch. I am tired of frozen dinners. So I went out to Sonic and had their Wacky Meal for kids.  It's $2.18 with the tax. I can't eat cheaper then that. It's two nice sized chicken strips and tater tots and a very small drink. I had a coke. That filled me up. I usually do that about once a week.

More even later..

About 3:30PM, Suzanne came by and took me to Mr. G's for a flurry. Those are very good and I am very full and will not eat anything else for supper.

I am watching the news  at 4:00PM now and will get back to this after it goes off. I will read until bath time at 7:00PM.

More even later...

It is 6:25PM now and I will take my bath closer to 7:00PM. Right now I had better see if there are any cats out there for supper.

One cat now..a small yellow cat.  I got the food out there for him/her. No more cats yet...maybe closer to  7:00PM the others will come.

More later....I took my bath about 7:00PM and read awhile and then watched an episode of Forensic Files. Just  as I was about to go to bed about 8:45PM I notice one of the smaller yellow cats waiting for supper so I set one of the blue bowls out there for him/her. Now I will wait for that cat to finish and I can bring the bowl in and then go on to bed...hopefully about 9:00PM. I am pretty tired. It has been a busy day.

Tuesday and Laundry

I slept pretty well last night. The arm was not as bad as usual and I was able to  sleep with it just outstretched instead of on a pillow.

I got up at 5:00AM and dressed and have had my oatmeal and am working on my coffee. And I also had a breakfast bar.

I will do some laundry this morning...my towels and pjs and underwear . I will also vacuum the den.

It has rained all night. It's good I brought the plants in. I will water them myself if it ever stops raining. It's supposed to rain all day and all week really.  These must be the April rains,,,running late. I have no idea when I can have my yard mowed. It is soaked. I have been having it mowed on Tuesdays but that isn't going to happen this week.

I downloaded another Kindle book last night. I didn't start it yet. I will probably read on it today after I get my chores done.

More later....

With all this rain, I only had one small yellow cat here for breakfast. There was a small lull in the rain. None of the others wanted to get wet I guess. Just goes to show you that if you are hungry enough you will look for a small break in the rain and come for breakfast. That is what this little fellow/gal did.

He/she ate all he/she wanted and then jumped up on the outside window sill and took off.  I will leave the food out until the birds come...just in case some more cats get brave and come.

More even later. I guess I'll get my laundry going. I see the rain is going again. I move the dishes back under my little porch roof. I have the laundry going now.

I got the laundry finished and put away. Then I started my new Kindle book. The name of it is The Silent Patient".  Once I started it, I couldn't put it down for a long time. the plot wound around and was hard to follow. But it was intriguing.

I fixed myself a TV dinner for lunch.

I went out to Dollar General and bought some contact cleaner and came back home to watch TV. After I finished watching some programs I had recorded, I switched back to regular TV. and something happened. I message came on the screen that said "No signal" and in the upper right part of the screen it just had a number "4". I called Cox and told them about it and they said they would reboot my modem and it would take about thirty minutes for it to come back up. Sure enough, in about thirty minutes it did come back up. I couldn't believe it was the TV and it wasn't. It was the Cox modem they made me rent when I moved here. Anyhow, I had TV again.

I had my usual banana for supper.

Later I went back to the book. About 7:00PM I took my bath and then I picked up the book again and finished it about 8:15PM.  It was a real cliff hanger. I checked to see if there were any cats out there and there was just the one small yellow cat. I put some food out for that one and came in here to finish the day's blog before I go to bed.

Monday and a Quiet Day

I slept well last night and got up around 6:00AM. I texted Bob and he slept well too. I dressed and got myself ready for the day. I came in and fixed my breakfast and noticed two yellow cats, both young ones, waiting for breakfast so while I was waiting for my oatmeal to finish cooking, I set their breakfast out there and they dug in. They are both gone now so I brought the cat food in so the birds wouldn't eat it.

There will be rain all week. I have no idea when I can get my yard mowed.

Bob Texted me that Coffeyville's Eggberts is opening inside today with separation between booths and tables of at least six feet. Waitresses will wear masks. I may go over and pick him up for breakfast on Wednesday morning like we used to do. I have missed that.

There were 11 of us at Suzanne's and Steve's yesterday for Mother's Day but we sat around scattered separately. She sent home extra food for both Judy (her sister) and me. I will have Dink's Bar B Q for my lunch today, with Suzanne's potato salad and baked beans and banana nut bread for dessert.

It was good to be out and around people again.

Keith called me yesterday afternoon. Leslie and Scott had called me earlier. He tried to call me around 1:30PM but I was still at Steve and Suzanne's and my phone was in my purse. I noticed his attempt after I got home and called him back and we visited awhile. It was good to hear from all three of my kids on Mother's Day.

I see Big Yellow Tom Cat is out there for his breakfast so I set some of it back out there.

More later...

The CBS news is on now so I will get back to this later....

I will go out to Dollar General  after the news  is over. I need breakfast bars and cat food. I usually have one of those mid morning and I am out of them.

I got the cat food and breakfast bars at Dollar General. For lunch I had the food Suzanne sent home with me. I was very full when I finished it. But it was a good full. Anything that comes from Dink's Bar B Q is good.

When the mail came I had the gift Scott and Ginger sent me for Mother's Day. It was a lovely smelling Lavender candle. I lit it and burned it for quite awhile. It made the apartment smell very nice.

Later I decided to try to mend that ragged screen. I had also got the screen mending tape I had ordered to mend that screen on the living room west window. I worked and worked to try to lift the window but it just would not come loose.

Then I got my tack hammer and tapped on it on both sides and finally got it to come up. I spent the next thirty minutes mending all the holes in that screen. I wish that mending tape had been aluminum colored but it was charcoal gray instead. Anyhow the holes are covered now. I also got some white caulk and filled a gaping hole in the trim.

It's almost 4:00PM now and the news will be on soon. I will watch the weather channel until 4:00PM when Dr. Phil is off. I can't stand his program. I see we are to get rain tonight ..perhaps an inch. I had probably better bring that hanging plant back in this evening. It's 40 degrees now and may get even colder. But that plant doesn't need an inch of rain..for sure.

I haven't seen any cats this evening but I am not surprised. It has been raining all evening.  Only one of the yellow young cats showed up and that was before it began to rain much. He/she ate and left and I brought the food back in.

More later...  We are forecast for 60 mile an hour winds and quarter sized hail tonight.  It has been raining but no weather like that. It must have missed us.

At 7:00PM I took my bath and am ready for bed but it's only 8:15PM. If I go to bed now, I'll be up in the middle of the night. Maybe I will read awhile first and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM as usual.

Sunday and Mother's Day

I slept well last night. I woke up at 5:00AM with a sore right arm but I did make it through the night fine.

Then this morning I took a shower and washed my hair. It hasn't been done at a beauty shop for a month.  I do need a haircut. I have been trimming on it now and then.

My younger son, Scott, called this morning to wish me a Happy Mother's Day.  He says their gift will be later....probably Monday or Tuesday.  I got a lovely card from my older son, Keith, and his wife, Esther. And Leslie and John sent me candy and flowers. I need to change the water on those flowers this morning again and put that preservative in the water.

Leslie just called to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. I do need to get the water changed on my flowers to preserve them.

Four cats have been by for their breakfast..two yellow ones and scruffy gray cat and just now.... mama cat.  It is sunshiny now but we are forecast rain tonight ...and the rest of the week. I am tired of rain and wind and ready for some warm sunshiny days. I had to bring in the cat food again. The birds were going to be eating on it and I am not going to feed birds.

I got the flowers' water changed and they are holding up well.

Judy, Suzanne's sister, will be by between 11:30AM and 12:00 noon today to pick me up to go out to Suzanne's and Steve's for their Mother's Day dinner. They didn't want me to be by myself for Mother's Day. That was sweet of them.  I told her that Leslie was on call and couldn't guarantee that she would not be called up. She was called up last night at 10:00PM and was gone until 2:00AM. She is really ready to retire but will only be 63 in July so she has awhile yet to deal with this job. She needs the insurance. Scott doesn't like his job either but as I reminded him this morning, he does have a job.

I am watching TV right now. "Hope in the Wild" is on.

More later....

I went out to Steve and Suzanne's for lunch and Judy, Suzanne's sister, Judy, picked me up to take me out there. I had a very good time and Suzanne sent Judy and me both home with food for another meal. Ashley, Steve and Suzanne's daughter, gave each of us a flower and I planted mine in my flowerbed out back outside my den window.

I liked Judy very much.We talked about calling one another and going to lunch from time to time. She is to get my number from Suzanne and I will get hers from Suzanne too.

It was a lovely Mother's Day dinner. Suzanne had quite a crowd. She had Ashley's mother-in-law, Steve and Suzanne's son-in-law, Ashley and her three boys, Judy, and me. It is 3:40PM now.  It is a beautiful day.

More later...

I left the large plant in the house. The wind played with it day before yesterday and it looks a little scraggly.  I did bring in the other plant too but I hung it back out.

I watched 60 Minutes and then afterward I watched the CBS movie "Forest Gump" I had seen it several times in the past but it had been awhile.

At 7:00PM, I washed my face and put my pjs on. After the movie was over sometime after 10:00PM, I went on to bed.
