Saturday and a Great Night's Sleep

I slept very well last night and got up about 5:30AM. I dressed and got ready for the day and had my oatmeal for breakfast along with the coffee and Chai.

I have fed the cats and they are gone now. I have decided to just feed them morning and night to conserve cat food. If I put it out more, they just eat it whether they are really hungry or not. I guess they may think that might be the last food they get.

When I was out to John and Leslie's yesterday, this is a photo I took of the remaining  puppies. They have grown so much in just the week or so since I have seen them.

Image may contain: dog

Aren't they cute? The brown multi colored one is a Cowboy Corgi. It's mother is a Blue Heeler and it's father is Hoover, a registered Corgi. The three beige ones (I didn't get the third one in the photo) are purebred Corgis. Their mother is a  registered Corgi.. The black and whit pup is an Australian  Heeler. Eventually, when she grows up, John will mate her with Hoover, a registered Corgi to make Cowboy Corgis....with a little longer legs..

They were absolutely thrilled to have my company yesterday., :)

More later....

I did a load of laundry this morning andput it away and that's about all I got done. At 11:00AM I watched the football game that Ohio State played and won 52 to 0. Then I went up to Gabby's and had a sandwich for lunch.

When I got home I worked on the talk I am scheduled to give on December 1st. Then I went out to Dollar General and bought some ice cream bars.

I dropped by Nancy's and visited her for a couple of hours.  When I got home I played some solitaire and then watched some TV and then took my bath and put my PJs on and got ready for bed. In about an hour, I will go on to bed..

Friday and a Great Night's Sleep

I slept very well last night and feel very good this morning because of that. The trick may be to stop watching TV thirty minutes before I plan to go to bed and pick up a  book (not a Kindle) and read for thirty minutes or so.. That way that blue light from the computers, smart phones and TV don't interfere with my sleep. Those gadgets emit a blue light that destroys the melatonin in your system. That interferes with your ability to sleep.

I talked to Scott this morning. He and I also discussed his phlebotomy every other weekend.  I hope Keith is still keeping up on his too.  The boys both have hemochromitosis (too much iron in the blood) and have to have a phlebotomy at least once a month. Scott's was diagnosed later then Keith's and he has to have his phlebotomy every other Friday. It's supposed to be an inherited disease but it can't have come from my side of the family so it must have come from Bob's.

When I got off the phone, I fed the five cats.....three of the kittens, the mama cat and the yellow tom cat. They all came to eat. Every couple of days, I have to buy a bag of Meow Mix  cat food. I had started  to feed just the mama cat but last spring, she had a litter of five kittens so I had to feed them too. There are four gray kittens and one yellow kitten who looks just like the tom cat. I assume he is the father.

I have texted Bob A. and he is fine this morning.  I gave that new navy coat sweater I had bought off of Amazon to Joanne, his girlfriend. She is a tiny little thing and it fit her fine. That's why I usually don' t buy clothing online. I need to try things on. Every company's sizes are different.

More later....

I watched the news until they started repeating themselves. I waited until the mail came to think about going up to Independence to get a few things I need at their Walmart plus go to their Dollar Store  to get some things for my shoe box for the Christmas Child project.

Then after I got that done I stopped at Dairy Queen for my regular Friday blizzard. On my way home I texted John to see if he was home. He was at the farm building fence. But he said if I wanted to see the puppies, they would be happy to see me and I could stop and see them. So I did. They were absolutely delighted to have some company.  I finally went and got the key. Leslie had told me some time ago where it was hidden. Then I went into the kennel to see them. They all happily ran in to greet me. They were all trying to get to me at the same time. Raven and Hoover came out to see me too. They left when I went in the kennel though.  I took turns picking each of the puppies up and petting them. Then I took some photos of them. My! How they have grown in just a couple of weeks! It appears they just have four left. Of course, plus John's new puppy that he eventually wants to mate with Hoover when she gets old enough It was neat to see them again. They are so cute! I put the key back when I left.

I just fed the cats again. And I noticed mama cat is pretty fat.  I think she may be pregnant again. I hope not but she is pretty big. And she eats a lot...like for four or five.

I am watching an old Big Bang Theory. After this is over, (It's only 6:25PM now)  I will take my bath and put my pjs on and watch an episode of   "Murder She Wrote" and read awhile before I go to bed at 9:00PM or so

Thursday and Another Trip to Coffeyville

I slept pretty well last night although I had my sleep out earlier then usual.  I just went ahead and got up. I have got myself ready for the day and had my oatmeal, coffee and Chai.

I will do some cleaning this morning and then go out to Dollar General at 8:00AM for some more cat food. Closer to noon, I will go back to Coffeyville to meet Bill Wade for lunch. He will reimburse me for my expense in sending out 61 packets of Coffeyville Reawakening information to my classmates...the ones without e-mail. I attached the link to the information and sent that out to the classmates with e-mail. That was sure easier and faster.

I have put off my cleaning all week and I must get it done this morning. I did get the laundry done this week.

I will do the mopping right away and wait until later to do the vacuuming. The sweeper makes a lot of noise and this is a duplex so I will do that later..

I hear the cats out front waiting for their food. Unfortunately, I am out of cat food and the Dollar General doesn't open until 8:00AM so they have quite a wait. It's only 6:00AM right now.

More later....

Before I left for Coffeyville , I went out to Dollar General just as soon as they opened and bought cat food and came back home and filled their bowls. In a little while I looked out there and they had begun eating...at last.

About 10:00AM, I went over to Coffeyville to Bob's apartment and gave the tiny navy sweater I has ordered from Amazon to Bob to give to Joanne.  She's the only one I know small enough to wear it.

I also went by Genesis and took them the plastic bags I had saved for them. Then I went to the library and looked for a book to read. I didn't find anything I was interested in reading.  Then I met Bill Wade (class of '68), for lunch. I gave him my receipts for all my expense in sending off those packets to my classmates and he wrote me a check form  $97.91...that what I had spent. We had quite a conversation about the plans for the Coffeyville Reawakening.  I added up all the receipts I had and he wrote me a check. I deposited it before I left town for home.

When I got home I put away everything  and got out the vacuum sweeper and ran it. I had cleaned the bare floors before I left this morning. Now all I have to do is dust tomorrow.

It's already been a huge day and it's 3:40PM already. It turned out to be a cold day but lots of sunshine. I lifted the shade in the den so the sun would shine in.

I also sent that link Bill Wade told me about to all my online classmates after I saw it myself. ...pretty impressive. They have lots of plans for Coffeyville and the Midland theater. I hope they all work out. I told him about Westmoreland, Kansas. It was a small town,,,much smaller then Coffeyville... but clean as a whistle.  I told him about the merchants there sweeping their sidewalks every morning before opening and putting the dirt from the sidewalks in trash receptacles.  I told him Coffeyville could do that. Doug Mund, one of Coffeyville's pastors, has had his congregation out a couple of times cleaning up cigarette butts. That's the right idea.

They work with the city commission too. I told him about my frustrating experience ten years ago getting an ordinance passed  against people parking in their front yard near their front doors and also putting old appliances on their front porches as eyesores!  The ordinance passed but the police didn't want to write tickets for that so they didn't enforce it. I went back after I noticed that and complained about it. It didn't do any good. I told them they might as well rescind it if they weren't going to enforce it.

Disgusting!

More later....

I got the vacuuming done this afternoon and cleaned up the vacuum cleaner. I washed the filters and left them out to dry overnight. Tomorrow I will put them back in the vacuum.  I also plan to dust again.

About 7:00PM or so, I watched an episode of "Murder She Wrote" on Amazon Prime and then read until 8:30PM.  I have had my bath and changed the dressing on my right big toe and will go on to bed in about thirty minutes.

Suzanne called before I was ready to go to bed. Kaylie, next door, is expecting a package tomorrow and she tried to reach me today to see if I would pick it up.  I should be here tomorrow. I have done all the running around I need to do for one week. So when the package comes, I will pick it up for them. They plan to be gone this weekend.

Now, I will get to bed. It is 9:05 now. I have been reading a paperback book the last hour so hopefully I will be able to sleep well tonight.

Wednesday and A Big Day

I slept well again last night and got up close to 5:00AM . I had a tiny bowl of oatmeal and some coffee and chai and then left at 6:30AM for Coffeyville. I picked up Bob for breakfast  and after I took him home, I went out to Woodshed and bought my gas. Then I went to the library and returned the book.

After that I went to my hair appointment and really needed that. I went out to church and made copies of my receipts for the classmate mailing work. I will give Bill Webb the originals and keep the copies just in case I need them for something. I am to meet him for lunch tomorrow at Lanning's and he will repay me for my expense.

I went to Walmart after I got back to Coffeyville and bought what few groceries I needed. Then I went on to the senior center for bunco. I took some of the cookies I had made day before yesterday. There were only six of us today. Darlene and Marilyn were not there but Janet played with us. I had the most wins...for a change. Marilyn was going to stop by the emergency room and try to find out why she had developed splitting headaches. I left a message on her phone to ask her to call me when she knew something.

I stopped at Brahms and bought milk.

I then came back home. It was just starting to rain here when I went out to get my mail. I hope it stops before I leave tomorrow for Coffeyville again. I put away my groceries and came in here to work on the blog. It's after 4:00PM now and I will go watch the 4:00PM news for awhile.

It's 6:15PM now and I have watched the Tulsa news and am getting ready to take my bath in an hour. I will go on to bed at 9:00PM after I watch an episode of "Murder She Wrote". .

Tuesday and A Good Night's Sleep

I slept well again last night and have dressed, had my breakfast and coffee and even fed the cats. Poor critters! They are so cold and hungry. I can't do anything about the cold but I can help the "hungry".

I need to remember to set my trash out to be emptied. Sometimes I forget the day and they won't come back by if I forget.

More later....

o.k. I got that done. Trash container is out there.I will now have to remember to go vote. I am not sure when the polls open. I will just go mid morning to be sure.

I need to clean and vacuum today too. I will be going back over to Coffeyville on Thursday to meet Bill Wade. Thursday's my usual cleaning day. But he is going to take me to lunch and repay me for my expense on sending out those 61 packets of information to my classmates. He is one of the forces in back of the Coffeyville reawakening movement. I spent a little over $100.00 doing that. I have kept all my receipts like he told me to.

In the morning I will pick up Bob for breakfast. Wednesday is always a full day for me. I get my hair done at 9:30AM, get gas at Woodshed and take that library book back to the library at Coffeyville. Then there is Bunco in the afternoon at 1:00PM. I will take a container of those cookies I made yesterday. I have set it out on the kitchen counter.

More later....

The Atmos Energy bill was paid on the 1st and was not due until the 4th. I had an e-mail from my bank's payment center, "customer care" saying they did not pay it because it would have been late. I checked my bank account and it had been paid on the1st just as I had scheduled it. I even called Atmos Energy and they showed it had been paid on the 1st too and they said my bill had never been late. I e-mailed back to the bank and also on their bank site online that information. The bank had made a mistake.  Don't tell me banks don't make mistakes. Then I got another e-mail from "customer care" just now that asked me if I wanted to pay Atmos Energy. The left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing at my bank. That bill was paid on the 1st.

More later....

I went out to Cornerstone Church and voted a little bit ago. Norma Scott was working there in the voting area. She and Danny live right across the street from that church.

I checked and I have the service again at church on December 1st, the day before my 84th birthday.  The theme that Sunday is "Wait in Hope". That may be a challenge.  :)

More later...

I worked all afternoon on the December 1st service and bulletin and have it pretty well roughed out.

Then I watched the CBS news in the evening and then took my bath and got ready for bed. I watched a couple of episodes of "Murder She Wrote" and then went on to bed at 9:00PM.

Monday and Another Good Night's Sleep

I slept well last night. I only woke up once and I went to the bathroom and then went back to bed and back to sleep. I have had my oatmeal and coffee and Chai and fed the cats. They were really hungry this morning. Of course, it's really chilly out there. According the the local weather, it's 39 degrees.and 7:45AM. I hope it warms up some today so I can finish my mowing.

I may drop by the food bank this morning and see if they have any fruit available. I bought bananas at Walmart last week but I have eaten one each day and now they are gone. They are good for potassium. Us older people always need potassium as we age.

Tomorrow is local election day and I will go vote in the morning.

I may bake cookies today and take them to bunco at the senior center for my treat on Wednesday. I may meet Bob for breakfast then at 7:00AM if it's not raining and then will get my hair done, go to the library and return the book I read last week, get gas at Woodshed and then in the afternoon at 1:00PM, go to the senior center for bunco.

Then I will go back to Coffeyville on Thursday to meet Bill Wade. He is going to give me a check to repay me for my expenditures on the class packets I sent out last month. It came to over $100.00 with the folders, postage and the manila envelopes I sent the class's material off in. He will be in Coffeyville Thursday and Friday.

More later...it's time for CBS news.

I did bake peanut butter criss cross cookies for the Wednesday bunco game at the senior center on Wednesday afternoon. I did some cleaning too and also swept out the garage. I would blow it out with my blower but the car was just washed and that would get it dirty again. In just a little while I will eat the chili I made last week and save the leftover Mexican food for tomorrow. I am hungry already and it's not quite 11:00AM.

I ate my chili from last week at 11:30AM. It was still very good. I have resisted the impulse to eat a cookie. I had a small piece of my Halloween candy earlier.. It turned out to be a lovely day and I think I will just forget about mowing. There are still plenty of leaves on my trees...and those of the neighbor across the street...and his blow over to my yard. It would be futile to try to stay ahead of that mess. If anything, I will rake them into piles and vacuum them up with my leaf vacuum. That would probably be easier then mowing them anyhow. That darn leaf vacuum is so heavy though.

I will drop over to the food pantry and see if they have any fruit.

No, the only thing they had today was tomatoes.  I didn't need any tomatoes.

I took the audio book back to the Caney library this morning and stopped later at the post office and bought some more stamps.

I played some cards online just to kill some time. It's 3:40PM now and this has been a slow day. I did finish my book by Demi Moore.  It was a strange story. I had no idea she was such a complicated actress.

I watched the evening news and after  that was over I took my bath. "Bull"one of my favorite programs is on at 9:00PM and as soon as that is over I will go on to bed. I haven't done a lot today but read but I am tired anyhow.

Sunday and Church

I had a terrible time getting to sleep last night. The minute I laid down, my sinus's started draining.  I blew and blew but I was just drowning in my own juices. Finally I gave up and took a Benadryl tablet. I dried up and then I finally got to sleep.

I woke up at my usual 5:00AM but of course with the end of daylight saving time, It was actually 6:00AM. I felt terrible but after I had my oatmeal and coffee I felt a little better. I hope to feel a lot better after I get to church since I am speaking today. I am prepared but don't feel particularly confident. I am scheduled again on December 1st. That the day before my 84th birthday. The theme that day is "Wait in Hope".

I just called Bob. I always message him every morning and he didn't message me back.  He was fine but getting around slowly.

It's daylight now and I am going out to church early again. I have a lot of preparation to do for the service. It's also communion. It will be a small group. Everyone told me that last week. They all have other plans I doubt we'll have many. That's alright. The regulars will be there.

More later....

I was amazed. Many more came out then I imagined. It was, in fact, one of our larger crowds. The ones I knew would not be there  were not but many more came then I imagined and there was a good crowd.

Five of us went out to El Pueblo for lunch. I ate way too much and brought almost half of it home with me in a box. I will eat it tomorrow.

I got my newsletters finished and out in the mailbox with the flag up. Then I noticed my neighbor across the street was mowing. I decided to mow my leaves myself and got the mower out and gassed it up and began. I got about half the front yard done and was completely played out! .That's amazing! I mowed all summer except for August which Leslie and John paid to have mowed for me and was fine with it. I usually mowed both the front and the back one day and saved the west side for the next day. I did that all summer. It never exhausted me.  But I am played out now. So I got hold of Krystal and asked her if one of her girls could mow for me one last time to mow the leaves. I haven't heard back from her yet.

I even have a hacking cough from the effort. I may have to pay someone to do my yard next year. By then I will be 84. Wow! Now I wish I had my little Dixon mower. I could ride it and mow. Trouble is..it didn't have a bag like this one of John and Leslie's does.

Oh well....maybe after I rest up, I can finish the front. It's 4:23PM now.

More later...

I didn't ever rest up enough to finish the front yard. Maybe this afternoon I can get it finished. There's really no rush. The grass is not growing. I contacted the mother of the little girls, Krystal who mowed for me in August to see if one of the girls would mow this last time for me, but she never got back with me.

So I will try to get it done myself later this afternoon as long as the weather holds.

Nancy came over later this afternoon. She was anxious to find out what happened to Dale's friend, Josh, who died last week and I saw the funeral procession at the Cornerstone Church on Friday. I had heard he had committed suicide but I am not sure who told me that. We found the obit online at the Chronicle but, of course, it didn't give the reason for his death.

After she left I watched TV for awhile. Bull was on at 7:00PM and I contacted her to tell her about it. She had wanted to check it out. It is usually on Monday evenings at 9:00PM.

After that was over I took my bath and watched an episode of "Murder She Wrote" and then went on to bed a little after 9:00PM.
