Saturday and No Particular Plan

I slept fairly well last night. Actually I went to bed too early or I would have slept better. It was just after 8:30PM but I was very tired.  I got up two or three times in the night.  Either I had to go to the bathroom or the room was too warm or too cold. Anyhow, I have had better night's sleep.

I was up at nearly 5:00AM and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I am having my breakfast now and my coffee. I really don't have a plan for today. Suzanne and a realtor will be showing the duplex at 1:00PM this afternoon so I will be making myself scarce at that time. probably  I don't really want to go out of town. I have done that three times this week..my hair appointment and game day on Wednesday. I took the vacuum sweeper to Liebert Brothers on Thursday to have it checked out and then picked it up yesterday. So I will probably just stay in town.

Maybe I can visit Nancy.....if I can raise her. I called her twice yesterday and let it ring seven times each time, but no one picked up. I imagine after her caregiver left at 1:00PM, she laid down and took a nap on the sofa. The phone doesn't wake her.

It's 5:57AM now and I will go watch "the weather on the 8's".

Following the weather, I watched the Saturday morning CBS news. That's over now so I have turned on "Good Morning America" Bob and I used to watch that every time. In fact, we were watching it when 9/11 happened. They were just starting to go to commercial, and Charlie said, "Hey! Turn that camera over there at the trade center. Something is going on there." Then we watched the first tower being hit, and later, the second one. It was terrible and historical. The Red Cross sent Bob and two from Independence to New York as fast as they could get packed and as soon as they allowed flights again, they were on their way.

After I watched Good Morning America I searched for something interesting to watch. When I couldn't find anything I was interested in, I just came in here to blog until "Lucky Dog" comes on at 10:00AM. I don't really care for the new host trainers and I miss Brandon, who was the original host and who I really liked to watch, but for some reason, they replaced him with these two they are using now. There is so little on TV that I am interested in nowadays if it wasn't for the CBS evening news and PBS, I probably wouldn't watch it at all.

All the newer programming is just silly or violent to me. And I don't need silliness or violence in my life. There are nothing but "Bull" reruns now. I watch some PGA tournament golf but you really have to be bored with life to watch golf if you aren't a player. It's 9:30AM now.

More later...

I read until 12:30PM and then made myself scarce for Suzanne and her realtor and the second realtor she was showing it to.

I ended up going to Independence after all. I stopped at Dairy Queen and bought a medium blizzard. On the way home I texted Leslie to see if she was home.I thought I would drop by and visit if she was. Unfortunately, she was on call and had to be back at the office at 2:00PM so I just took a rain check and will try it another time. It's 2:14PM now.

It's almost 4:00PM now and I have been playing a game on the laptop computer.

At 5:00PM, I will eat a banana and that will be my supper. I had two pieces of leftover chicken at noon and that blizzard this afternoon. I may see what is on PBS TV now. It's been another boring day. We are supposed to get some rain tonight. That will be a welcome change from 90 degree weather. It's 97 degrees now.

I read for awhile and then went out and felt of the dirt in my  flowers. It was dry. So even though we are forecast for rain tonight and tomorrow, I watered again anyhow. It is now a little past 6:00PM.   I plan to take my bath at 7:00PM and stay up and read until 9:00PM....when I plan to go to bed.

It's7:40PM now and I have had my bath and will read awhile longer before going to bed at 9:00PM

Friday and Another Room to Vacuum

I woke up a couple of times during the night but managed to get back to sleep until 5:00AM, my regular time to start my day. I am dressed and ready for the day. I am having my breakfast now and my coffee.

Today, I will vacuum the bedroom and maybe the den. I got the living room done yesterday after I got back home from the church where I picked up the large church vacuum. That was enough to wear me out. That older vacuum is huge and heavy. That's why I decided to do just one room a day until I get my Black and Decker back from Liebert Brothers.

And I also want to trim the yard before it gets too hot this morning. I may take the mower around back and try to mow a little closer to the house. She left about 6 o 8 inches all along the building. I might be able to do it with the trimmer but it would look better with the mower. I will see how soon it is dry this morning.

I will also need to water everything again. The small flowerbed at the mailbox is showing stress and I already water twice a day. The hanging basket at the front is also showing heat stress.

I finished my book last evening before I went to bed. I will try to download some more this morning.

Now I will go watch "the weather on the 8's" and see if anything has changed. We are still forecast rain tomorrow and a little cooler week next week.

I see Scruff  and Blondie are both out there for their breakfast this morning. Neither of them came last night so they are hungry this morning. I was going to water the patio hanging flowers but when I looked out there were two hummingbirds feeding at the hummingbird feeder. So I will wait.

May be an image of tree and grass

You can see that the yard looks a lot better. One of Krystal's girls mowed last evening. And I finally got the flowers all watered. The cats are gone now so I brought in the cat food. The hummingbirds were gone too.

It's only 7:03AM so I will wait awhile to trim. My neighbor is undoubtedly still sleeping. He sleeps late. But I will need to trim while it's in the 70's. It's 72 degrees now.

It's almost 8:00AM now and I just finished trimming. It's 75 degrees out there now and still getting hotter. I ran out of string before I got the back yard done and found my box of string but then had to figure out how to restring it. I finally got that done and finished the back yard trimming and swept everything off. I am sweaty and tired so that may be all I get done for awhile. The vacuuming will have to wait until I recover.

I will go watch the CBS morning news now and drink some water and rest..

During the commercials, I vacuumed part of the living room again, the bedroom and hall and the den. I didn't check to see how much dirt was picked up. I just put the vacuum away.

I need to get some more wet swifter cloths today out at Dollar General.

I will do that after the news.

I went out to Dollar General and bought the wet Swifters for mopping up the bare floors.

Then I had a call from Liebert Brothers. They had gone through my vacuum sweeper and could find nothing wrong with it. They had vacuumed the store and got some dirt in it and put it in a sack to show me. I took the church's vacuum back out to church and went in to Coffeyville to pick up mine at Liebert Brothers.  They gave it back to me, showed me the sack with the dirt they had been able to vacuum up and just charged me $8.00 for the service.

When I got back to Caney, I took the school supplies out of the trunk of my car and took them in the house. I checked the crayons and amazingly, none were melted. I went by the market and bought some chicken and green beans at their deli for my lunch.

Suzanne came and brought my new screen. She attempted to put it on my window but one of the clamps was bent and try as she might, she could not get it to straighten up. She took it home to let Steve try to do it. When she left, I checked my mail and found two bills to pay. I wrote the checks for those and also the rent and put them out on the mailbox to go out tomorrow.

She and the realtor have an appointment tomorrow at 1:00PM to show the duplex. She says they are showing it to another realtor. Maybe that one has a prospect. She didn't say.

My older son, Keith, just called and talked to me for quite awhile. He will be going to Nigeria in September for a few weeks for his job. He will be quarantined for two weeks when he finally gets there and will work for two or three weeks afterward before coming back home. He says there are some openings in several foreign countries for techs to live there for a year or two. If he gets one of those openings, Esther will go with him and they will live there until he is deployed back. He is hoping to get one of those opportunities.

More later..

I was very tired at 8:30PM so after I had had my bath at 7:00PM, I went on to bed at 8:30PM.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept well last night and only woke up once to go to the bathroom. It was nearly 5:00AM  when I got up. I have dressed and am eating my breakfast now and drinking my coffee.

I heard from my classmate, Dean, last evening. He e-mailed me that he was planning to go to Texas the middle of August to visit some relatives there and may stop by here and visit me too. He calls it "spoiling"me because he won't let me cook while he is here and we eat all our meals out. We usually take a trip of some kind. He usually checks on a farm he owns south of South Coffeyville too. One time we went to Woolaroc southwest of Bartlesville. He had not been there since he was in high school.

It will be good to see him again. We are 85..soon to be 86 and he is the one who started our class newsletter while he was in college at KU...many years ago. Over the years, four of us classmates have done it. This will be my 24th year if I recall correctly.

I finished my mopping and vacuuming and when I opened the tank to empty the dirt, there wasn't any. Evidently the vacuum isn't working. I always get a big wad of dirt when I empty the tank. This time...nothing. I have no idea where to have it looked at. As far as I know there is no longer a vacuum repair shop in the area. There used to be one over at Coffeyville but it closed several years ago. I may just have to buy another vacuum sweeper. Leslie bought me this one when I moved here two years ago. Darn...all that work for nothing.

I called Liebert Brothers in Coffeyville and they agreed to work it in around all their air conditioning service. They are a Hoover dealer and I had bought two Hoovers from them over the years. Perhaps that is why they agreed to work on the Black and Decker for me. I worked up a sweat just vacuuming the living room with the large one I borrowed from church. I will probably do just one room a day with this big Bissell.

I heated up the other half of the sandwich I got at McCalister's on Tuesday in the microwave and that's what I ate for lunch..along with some of that fruit punch I mix up. It's sugarless. Then I had an ice cream bar for dessert.

Schwan's brought my order and it is a lot more expensive then those frozen meals at the market. I think I will stop using them and just buy those at the market that are so much cheaper and I won't have to pay for delivery either. I can eat the deli meals from the market at least once a week and when I am not in Coffeyville on Wednesdays I can get a Sonic child's meal at Caney for $2.18. Then I can eat my chicken salad at Eggbert's once a week too.

Back to my book....

I read for a couple of hours and then decided to go to the market and get some more bananas. I just ate my last one. They last me a week by putting them in one of those green bags with a couple of paper towels and  press all the air out that I can and tie off the end with a flexible little tie like you get at the market in produce. They are still barely green at the end of a week but are very eatable. I get my potassium that way. It's 3:07PM now.

More later...

I read until 6:30PM and then about 7:00PM John, the husband of the woman whose girls mow for me. brought the youngest over to mow. She does a pretty good job and I got out from time to time and take her bottled water. It was 92 degrees when she was mowing. It was very hot for me out there. I couldn't stay out. After I paid her and they left, I took my bath and cooled down and felt a lot better.

I will read again now and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM. It's 7:48PM now.

Wednesday and Game Day 2

I slept restlessly last night and finally just got up at 4:30AM and dressed and got ready for the day. I don't know why I was so restless.I had a busy day and should have been exhausted.Today will be busy too. I get my hair done between 9:00AM and 9:30AM. Then I will go get gas, go out to Walmart there to get a few things, and then to the senior center and read my book until time for game day.

I noticed in the newspaper that one of my classmate's husband died. I sent out a notice of that to the 7 groups of online classmates. I will send a card myself. I used to call on them at their business when I worked for KGGF, the large  AM radio station there in Coffeyville. They had a farm machinery business they used to advertise.

I will go check the "weather on the 8s" to see if anything has changed in the forecast.

More later....it is 5:50AM now.

No, nothing has changed in the forecast...hot, hot, hot...rain on Sunday!

I got all the flowers watered for the morning and put the solar kitty out to catch some rays. I moved the solar cardinal yesterday more into the sun. The flowers had grown so much around it that the sun couldn't catch the screen that captures the suns rays. So I moved it away from those very high flowers.

Only Scruff came for breakfast this morning. Blondie must have sound an alternate  person for food.

More later... I read until 8:30AM and then left for Coffeyville. I got my hair done shortly after 9:00AM and then went to Sonic and got myself a cherry limeade slush. Very refreshing!

I went out to Woodshed and bought gas, went to Karan's and left the papers for the animal shelter and then went to the car wash and ran my car through the car wash. I then went to the senior center and sat inside and read my book until time for game day.

We played from 1:00PM until 3:30PM  and afterward I went by Marilyn's and left the rest of my treats for her. I visited awhile. She is having physical therapy and is a little better.

After that I came back home and read again.

After I had my banana, I watched the news on CBS and later watered all the plants. I will have my yard mowed tomorrow afternoon. It needs it badly.

It's 6:30PM now and I will read until 7:00PM and then take my bath. I plan to go to bed  around 9:00PM.

Tuesday and Try Again for Lunch

I slept well last night again...woke up twice to go to the bathroom but that's nothing new. I got up shortly after 5:00AM and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I am having my breakfast now and drinking my coffee.

It's 6:11AM now and just beginning to get light out. Around 10:30AM this morning  I will check with Nancy again and see if she is ready to go to Bartlesville this time. We will shop for a baby gift for her new great grandchild and have lunch probably at McCalister's there by the mall.

I will go check "the weather on the 8's" next. I also want to see if the yard is still clear of leaves. I raked most all of them up yesterday afternoon but if there was any wind overnight, they will be back. That house across the street is a mess.

I was going to put the solar kitty out to catch some rays but I notice there is a hummingbird out there eating so I will wait until it is finished.

The weather station says a high of 97 all week except Sunday when we are forecast for rain.  We can use some rain to cool things off.

I fed both yellow cats...Scruff and Blondie. Someone had taken the other cats away. I hope they didn't put them in a gunny sack and drown them. Years ago people did that with stray cats.  Hopefully they don't still do that. I had a stray cat come when I lived out on Catalina in Coffeyville and I took it out to a friend's barn to keep down the mice. She was glad to get it. These two are not that much trouble. I usually just feed them morning and night. They are no trouble.

The yard is fairly free of the leaves from the neighbor's tree. I see one or two out there. When I go out to sweep off the walk I will pick them up and put them in the trash.

I got the few leaves put in the trash, watered the plants and deadheaded them...all but the larger flowerbed. I will water it later...after the hummingbirds are gone.

It's 7:56AM now and I just swept off the walk and drive. I really need to back the car out and sweep out the garage. My tires track that gravel the city puts on the streets instead of asphalt into the garage. I can't keep it clean. I try to keep it neat. I have saved a lot of boxes and I have them stacked in the back part of the garage.  I guess I will go water the last flowerbed now.

I got that last flowerbed watered and read until time to go pick up Nancy. I got her at 10:30AM and we went on to Bartlesville. We went out to the new strip mall next to Lowe's and she bought a cute baby gift. While we were there, Gina, Nancy's cousin's wife called me and  chewed me out for taking Nancy while one of her Comforting Angels was there to care for her. She wanted me to wait until 1:00PM to take Nancy anywhere. That would be a late lunch but I guess we could manage it. Also, she said she leaves the Comforting Angel a list of things to do for Nancy and they are not doing them. The cousin's wife complains to the supervisor but still they don't do the chores. She says they pay $200 a day for Nancy's care and they don't earn it if I take Nancy too early and they are able to leave instead of taking care of Nancy. This is Nancy's money they are talking about. Nancy is independently wealthy and if she doesn't mind, why is it their business?

I then took her to McCalister's for lunch. And afterward I took her home. I stayed a couple of hours and visited with her and then came on home. I have been reading newspapers Suzanne brought while I was gone.

I called Dale, Nancy's cousin, about the questions Nancy had about her trip. She has an expired driver's license and I wondered if that would be valid for identification and he is going to check that out.  He also said American Airlines was the only airline with a through flight to North Carolina. So that is undoubtedly the one she will use. He is always congenial.

I see Brandon finally mowed his yard...both front and back. His yard is often a disgrace. 6 -8 inches tall.

I noticed the hummingbird  feeder was empty so I brought it in and filled it again with sugar water. Hopefully they will take to it as well as they did this last time.

More even later..back to the book..

It's 4:32PM now and I am going to get back to my latest book.

I watched the CBS news and then read until bath time at 7:00PM. It is 7:27PM now and I will go to bed at 9:00PM. I have a hair appointment in Coffeyville at 9:00-9:30 tomorrow.

Monday and Perhaps Lunch

I slept pretty well last night. I was up two times in the night but had no trouble getting back to sleep. I was up at my usual 5:00AM. I made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I have had my breakfast and am drinking my coffee now.

Nancy and I plan to go to lunch today if she is up to it. That's always iffy. I never know how she's going to feel...neither does she. At least she plans to go to North Carolina to see David on August 4th. If she understood correctly,  they have him in some kind of nursing home since he has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She said he was to have another surgery while she is there. I assume for the lung cancer. We plan to go to Bartlesville where she can shop for a gift for her new great grandchild. The baby will be a month old when she is there.

We had quite a wind storm yesterday evening. There was rain all around us but I don't believe we got any. Nowata and Bartlesville did. We got a lot of thunder but no rain to my knowledge. It's too dark to see out there now. It's 6:07AM right now.

I will go turn on the TV and watch "the weather on the 8's" and get back to this later..

It looks like it's going to be in the high 90's all this week.

I have watered all the plants in the hanging baskets and the new one John made for me around the mailbox.  I haven't got the hose down and watered the large flowerbed. I will do that soon. I did set the solar kitty out to capture some rays.

I came in when a lone hummingbird wanted to drink from the feeder.

I also have my laundry going now. It's mostly towels, p.j.'s and underwear.

More later... It's almost 7:00AM now.

It's a little after 8:00AM  now and I have been working on the puzzle since 7:00AM and it may take me a week on this one. It's very busy and difficult to find the pieces. But it gives me something to do but read. I have the laundry in the dryer now and clean towels in the bathroom.

I have fed both Blondie and Scruff  twice now. Blondie got scared off when I accidentally spilled the water bowl. He came back though and so did Scruff.

There are leaves from my neighbor's tree across the street all over my formerly clean yard. If it weren't so hot I would go rake them up.. Last night's wind blew them over here.

More later...

I worked on the puzzle until 12:30PM and then called Nancy  to see if she was ready to go to Bartlesville to shop for her new great grandchild and go to lunch. No one picked up the phone so I got into the car and drove over there. She was not even dressed. She begged off even though her caregiver told her it would be good for her. We rescheduled it for tomorrow and the caregiver said she would see to it that she was ready to go. We will see. I went out to Eggbert's  and had my usual chicken salad and then I came on back home and finished the puzzle.

This is it..

May be an image of indoor

The photo came out better online then on my phone. Anyhow, instead of taking a week, it took two days. Now I will read awhile.

Before I decided to read and went out and watered the large flowerbed. I had not watered that one earlier because a hummingbird was out there to eat and I didn't want to disturb the little critter.

Now I will read!

I finished one book and started another. I also received the hose sprayer I had ordered and I think it will work well. I tried it out. It goes from a mist type sprayer to a harder sprayer.

More later... I want to take apart the puzzle and take it to the senior center on  Wednesday and leave it for others to use.

More later....It is 4:57PM now. I will watch the news when it comes on.

I watched the CBS news when it came on at 5:30PM.

My front yard was covered in leaves from the tree across the street. I bit the bullet and raked them up and trashed them.

May be an image of grass

It was 91 degrees out there so I drank a lot of water afterward.  I also ate my banana.

It's almost 7:00PM now and I will take my bath and read again until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed..

Sunday and Online Church Again

I slept fairly well...although I drank a lot of water yesterday so got up twice in the night. Even at that I got right back to sleep. I got up at my usual time and got myself ready for the day. I haven't started my breakfast yet so I will get that going before I get into the day's activities.

I have my oatmeal done and cooling and am having my breakfast bar and coffee now. I got my dusting done yesterday so I will watch the weather  on the 8's and feed the cats when they come for their breakfasts and work on the puzzle this morning before 11:00..time for "Beyond the Walls" the online church service from Ontario Canada. I miss my actual congregation but thanks to those who refuse to get vaccinated, the pandemic continues to spread.,,,especially the Delta variant....and it is even more deadly.

I watered all the plants. They are still doing well. The hummingbirds have been at the sugar water again too.

I saw on TV last week that less then 40% of the population professes to be religious so for those people, it's all about them. They have no empathy for the rest of the population. I still think vaccinations should be mandated. After all, this is a worldwide epidemic....nothing just personal.

And no wonder there's so much violence in the USA nowadays. It's just one issue of violence after another. No one seems to believe in anything except themselves.

I've been reading  most of the morning and it's 10:54AM now. I will watch "Beyond the Walls" now//the 11:00AM worship service from Toronto Canada.

I watched "Beyond the Walls" and it was a very good sermon.

Then I had a frozen meal for lunch and then afterward I went out to Dollar General to get a few things I can't get at the Caney Market.

Now I think I will work on that puzzle I have laid out on the dining room table.

It is 1:40PM now.

I have worked on the puzzle until 3:17PM and am tired now. I think I will go back to my reading until time for the news..

I read until 5:45PM and then got ready to open Zoom for the evening worship service  from Springfield, Missouri. Then after that service I watched the 60 Minutes  program I had recorded.

Then I took my bath. It's 8:06PM now. I will read until 9:00PM and then go to bed.
