Saturday and Bad News

I slept well last night even though I had a rude surprise when I checked my e-mail last night before I went to bed. I had what appeared to be an e-mail from Amazon informing me that they had packed and shipped my 55 inch TV for $1198 and also the $348, wall mount bracket with total shipping cost of $51.00 for a total of $1597. Needless to say, I had ordered none of that. So  I called Amazon and reported that. They checked my account and there was no record of any of that on my account. They gave me a spoofing e-mail address and had me forward the e-mail to that site. Needless to say again, I was greatly relieved. So I slept well.  I checked my Amazon card again this morning and there is no sign of a charge. Thank goodness!

I have had my breakfast this morning and am working on my coffee now. It's after 6:00AM now so I will go watch the "weather on the 8s" and get back to this later.

My eldest son, Keith, just called few  minutes ago. His wife, Esther, has covid19 and is having trouble breathing. He is calling the hospital to see what to do. He is leery about taking her to the hospital because they are the new New York there in Arizona...inundated with the virus. I have asked our congregation to put her in their prayers. If you folks will, please add Esther to your prayer list too. If he takes her to the hospital, she will be isolated until she is released.

I just talked to my son again and he says she is sleeping peacefully right now. He is keeping her at home as long as she is sleeping peacefully unless she gets worse. My other daughter-in-law, who is a nurse anesthetist, advised Keith to just watch her and let her sleep unless she gets worse. When she woke up after a long nap, it no longer hurt to breathe.

More later...

Esther, Keith's wife, woke up from that long nap feeling much better. She is sitting up in bed right now watching TV with Keith. It no longer hurts her to breathe. They will both go take a nap soon. He has been so concerned about her. I have had my congregation praying for her. My feeling is that when you are sick and have a lot of people praying for you, their deep concern (and love) also helps your immune system fight whatever the problem is.

I have taken my bath and will read awhile now...until bedtime. It's only 6:36PM now so I have awhile.  I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM (if I don't get engrossed in the book).

I finished the new book "A Long Walk to Water" at 8:15PM. It was about a young Sudanese boy who had walked across three countries to escape war and to look for his family. After living years in a refugee camp here and there he finally had the opportunity to come to America. There he was educated, learned English and started a project of speaking to various organizations and churches about a project he vowed to try to accomplish...building wells for the villages in Sudan.  He managed to have over 200 wells built across Sudan and at each one they erected a sign acknowledging the assistance people in America had given him in order for him to realize his dream.

A very interesting book..

Friday and Dusting

I slept pretty well last night but was up shortly before 5:00AM anyhow. I have had my breakfast and am working on my coffee.

The wind is blowing very hard out there today and I don't know how I can feed the cats this morning. The wind would blow away the bowls. I am leery of feeding them in the garage. They might crawl up into the underneath side of my car later. Maybe I will just wait and see if the wind lets up. Right now I want to go watch "the weather on the 8s" on TV. I will mull over feeding the cats in the garage just inside the door. So, more later....

Well, they didn't want to eat in the garage so I took the bowls nearer my front door...out of the wind as much as possible. There were three yellow cats and Inky. I don't see Scruffie out there. Too bad...she only eats breakfast because when she comes during the day, I can't feed her then or all the other cats come too.

I am having my Chai Latte now and watching the cats eat just outside my front door.

I will dust the furniture this morning. I started yesterday by dusting the baseboards but didn't finish with the furniture. That's all I have to do today anyhow.

Schwan's will be delivering my order today between 1:00PM and 4:00PM. I don't know why they changed this week to Friday. They have never done that before.

I still have one full frozen meal and two chicken pot pies of theirs. But I am out of ice cream bars.

The Schwan's man came and brought my order. I have one of the chicken pot pies I already had for my lunch and some punch and one of the ice cream bars he brought for a dessert.

Then I used the Amazon Prime and watched a couple of programs on it. it's 4:00PM now and I may go watch the Channel 6 news and afterward at 5:30PM, the CBS news.

So more even later...

Later I got a little hot and went to turn down my thermostat on the gas and saw that the temperature was not showing up. The batteries were evidently run down. I tried to get the cover off the thermostat but it wouldn't came off. I called Suzanne about it and she called the service man and he will come tomorrow morning early.

Then I realized I couldn't tell the temperature while it was like that so I got my letter opener and worked on it with that and pried that cover off. There were two AA batteries in there and I just had two AA batteries so I pulled those two out and slipped the ones I had in and it worked! I called Suzanne and told her to call the service man back and tell him I had managed to change out the batteries and that fixed it.

I watched the Tulsa news and also the CBS news. I took my bath at 7:00PM. It's only 9:00PM now and I just downloaded another book to read so I may start that and stay up a little later.

Thursday and Laundry and Apartment Cleaning Day

I slept fairly well last night and was up at 4:45AM and stripped my bed to do laundry. I am in the process of eating my breakfast and drinking my coffee now. I will wait awhile before starting my laundry. It's only 6:15AM now. The cats came for supper last night but I didn't feed them.

The last time I fed them in the evening, I had to chase away a possum. So it's mornings only. The cat food goes further that way anyhow. They will be plenty hungry this morning. I always leave the front door open to the storm door when I feed them so I can see what's going on with them. They are all plenty fat..except for Scruffie. She sometimes doesn't make it for the breakfast meal.

I will go watch "the weather on the 8's" now and get back to this later.

I fed four cats this morning and one of my bowls blew away with the wind out there. I have a time keeping track of bowls. If dogs don't carry them off, the wind does.

More later...

Atmos Energy sent a man out today to check my gas meter.  He changed out the digital part of the meter. He thinks the battery is dead in it so he put a new one in. For the past three months, my gas bill has been $20.18....the minimum. That's December, January and February. I knew that could not be right. So I called them last week. It took them a week to get a man out here.

While the commercials were on once again, I got all the bare floors mopped and the carpet vacuumed. The laundry is in the rinse cycle. When it finishes, I will get it in the dryer. I will still need to dust again.

More later...

The laundry is done, folded and put away. I will dust tomorrow. That will give me something to do tomorrow.

I read most of the afternoon and finished another book and started another one. I finished the spaghetti I got for supper last night. That was my lunch.

Then I went out to Dollar General and bought a couple of things I needed like the fluid I soak my contacts in after I take them out.

The wind blew all  day and I understand it's supposed to be even windier tomorrow. One of the cat's dishes blew away this morning.  I looked everywhere out there for it but it was gone.

I had a banana for my supper and read the latest book until 7:00PM and then took my bath and went back to the book and finished it at 11:00PM and went to bed.

Wednesday and Hair Day

I slept well last night and was up about 5:45AM this morning. I have had my breakfast and am working on my coffee right now. I will go over to Coffeyville later this morning and if Nancy is going to get up and be dressed, she will go with me. Gina called last evening to see if the trip was a figment of her imagination. She is going over to check on Nancy and see to her breakfast and that she takes her meds. She was in good spirits yesterday afternoon when I was over there. The trip out of town would be good for her so I hope she still wants to go.

More later..I want to catch "the weather on the 8's" and see to the cats too.

I fed the cats and brought in the bowls. When I got to Nancy's she was all dressed, according to Gina, but she decided she was not up to going after all. So I went on by myself. I had my hair done, went by Eggbert's to see if there was any truth to the rumor that one of their cooks had developed Covis. It was not true. I asked the manager's daughter and she said it was not true. So I texted Bob as well as Karan and told them what I had learned. The place was full of folks having breakfast.

Then I went by Karan's to leave the newspapers for the shelter.

I also went out to Woodshed and bought $6.75 worth of gas. That's what I had used in the past week. Then I came on back home.

Since I intend to order supper from the Methodist church, I will have a light lunch. (I got the supper ordered.)

I had the CBS news recorded since I left before 9:00AM.... if I was going to pick up Nancy. So I have watched that.

Bob couldn't get his car started yesterday so he used the service we have with our insurance and had it picked up and taken to the Toyota  agency in Independence. They weren't sure they could get to it today but they did and it was only a battery...not the starter, which I thought it might have been. Joanne, his girlfriend will take him up there to pick it up this afternoon.

More later...

I also watched the house  impeach Trump for a second time for his role in inciting last week's riot at the US Capitol.

Then I watched a recording of last week's program of "Bull". It was a rerun but I watched it anyhow.

Then it was after 7:00PM so I took my bath. It's five after 8:00PM now and I will read awhile and about 9:00PM, I will go to bed. I will clean the apartment tomorrow and also do my laundry.  It will be a bigger day.

Tuesday and a Slow Day

I slept late this morning..until 6:00AM. I dressed and got myself ready for the day and had my breakfast. When I finally opened the front door, Scruffie and Inky and Blondie were waiting..not so patiently for me to feed them. So I did. One of the blond cats are missing but I think that's the one that lives on State street across from the neighbor across the street from me. It's a freeloader and muscles it's way to the food most days.

I enjoyed the game last night even though Ohio State lost big. Alabama was just too good.

I have my Chai to drink yet. I got distracted by feeding the cats.

More later....

Scruffie is gone now, leaving only Inky and Blondie out there.

Now I am going to watch Channel 6 news.

So more later... I watched the Tulsa news and the CBS news and then spent the morning reading. At noon I ate one of my frozen dinners and went back to my book. I finished that one and downloaded another free book to read from Amazon. I took a letter by the mailbox on Spring and then went over to Nancy's about 2:45PM or so. I stopped in front of her house and tried to call her. She didn't answer so I went up and rang the doorbell in three times. When she didn't answer, I rang it three more times...and she opened the door and invited me in.

I stayed until 5:30PM or so and invited her to come with me tomorrow to Coffeyville to my hair appointment at 9:30AM  and then to eat lunch there in Coffeyville. If we can't find anything to eat there, I will drive up to Independence and we can eat at Sam's there. They wear face masks and do distancing.

Gina called me as I was charging my phone. She wanted to check out if I was really going to pick Nancy up for the trip to Coffeyville tomorrow. I told her that's what I planned to do if Nancy is up to it tomorrow. I told her I planned to pick her up at 9:00AM to get to my appointment by 9:30AM. Gina said she would come over a little earlier and make sure Nancy had some breakfast and had taken her meds and was dressed and ready to go. I told her that would be good. Nancy often doesn't feel very good in the mornings. There is always the possibility she will not want to go when I  get there. That has happened before. But I will try to take her out of town anyhow. It would be good for her to get out of that house.

It's 9:00PM now and I have had my bath and am ready for bed. So the saga continues tomorrow.

Monday and the Ohio State Football Game

This evening Leslie will pick me up at 6:15 PM and take me out to their place where they have ESPN and we can watch the Ohio State championship game. My daughter-in-law, Scott's wife, Ginger, got me hooked on Ohio State football. That is her Alma Mater. I don't have access to ESPN because of my limited package on Cox. After the game, she will bring me back home. I try not to drive after dark.

I slept fairly well last night but was up earlier then usual. I am having my coffee now and waiting for the oatmeal to cool off a bit.

I haven't had the weather or the news on yet. And I haven't checked on the cats yet either.

So, more later....

I ate my oatmeal before checking on the cats. There were only two out there...Blondie and Inky. They are eating like they hadn't eaten for a week. I am only feeding them in the mornings now. Since Scruffie wasn't out there this morning I may after alter my plan.

I am waiting for the "weather on the 8's" to come on. In about ten minutes I will text Bob and see if he is up yet. It's 23 degrees out there this morning. Very cold even for cats. Blondie is all fluffed up against it. I see one of the other yellow cats is out there now and only Scruffie is missing.

The "weather on the 8's" is on now so I will watch it and then change to Channel 6 for the news.

More later....

I got very busy with the computers after I watched the weather and CBS News.

At almost noon, Phyllis called me about whether or not we had cakes this week, I needed to call the First Christian Church in Independence to check for sure. I tried for 45 minutes with nothing but a busy signal to show for it. Finally I called and told Phyllis I was just going to go up there because all I got was a busy signal. I grabbed my grocery list and took off.

When I got there I honked as I always do when I go up the alley and three people came to the kitchen door. They were the new church secretary and one of her friends and the pastor.

I asked them about cakes which were supposed to be taken up there on Tuesday and they told me we would start instead on February 2nd. I wonder what they would have done if I had brought four cakes up there tomorrow? We have been baking their cakes for almost eight years and they couldn't call me to tell me about the change in dates? I was pretty disappointed in them.

Then they told me I probably didn't have their new telephone number. They have changed to a cell number.  That's why all I got when I tried to call their land line was a busy signal. I copied the new one off the note about it on the door. Then I stopped at their Walmart store in Independence and picked up my groceries and then afterward came on back home.

I got two classmate newsletters back today with a forwarding address on each. I printed off some envelopes and changed the addresses in my records too.  I also printed off Sunday's Ontario Canada's "Beyond the Walls" sermon for Karan and got it in the mail.

I was talking to Karan on the phone and was back in the den and didn't hear Leslie ringing the doorbell. She came early to make a bank deposit. She also tried to call me but I was on my phone to Karan. Finally she got my attention at the front door and I unlocked the door.

She took me by Mister G's and bought us an ice cream cone and then we went on out to their house. While we were waiting for the game to come on, Leslie fixed us all three a cola and some popcorn. John showed me some photos he had taken on his phone.

Unfortunately, Alabama won handily by four touchdowns.  But I enjoyed the game and the company. Leslie brought me home at about 11:00PM and Mimi and her granddaughter, KiKi, came with us. They are both registered Corgis. Like most dogs, they love to ride in the car.

I took my bath and came in here to wind down after my "adventure". At about 11:30PM, I decided to go on to bed. I was very tired.

Sunday and Church Services and a Business Meeting

I slept well last night and was up about 5:00AM. I have had my breakfast and breakfast bar am working on my coffee now. I haven't had the TV on yet. I don't know whether it will will have a tearing picture yet or not. Yesterday was a nightmare. I called Cox three times to try to get it fixed. Each time the "fix" was only temporary. I have an appointment with Cox on Monday between 1:00PM and 3:00PM.

I will text Bob this morning, turn on "the weather on the 8's" and check into feeding the cats. I didn't feed them last night so they will be hungry this morning for sure.

So far, so good.. with the TV. And all four cats were out there waiting for their breakfast...even Scruffie. I took all four bowls out with that cat food.  I haven't seen anything of Scruffie's newest kitten for some time. I hope someone adopted it.

We have a Zoom church business meeting this afternoon at 3:00PM. I will watch the worship service at Ontario at 11:00AM this morning and the evening one at Springfield Missouri at 6:00PM this evening. It will be a day of some sort of church service.

Bob finally texted me he was up at 6:00AM and had slept well.

More later....

I have been watching the news and it is 8:25AM now.

I just had a call from my son. His wife is being tested this morning for the covid19 virus. A man came into her office a couple of days ago and was sick. She tried to avoid him but she was sick yesterday and they are having the twenty minute results test today.  Please keep Esther in your prayers and my son, Keith too!

I need to log onto my worship service now. I will be back here later...

Both Esther and Keith tested out negative......thank goodness!

I downloaded a Cox Complete Care tech because my Outlook wasn't working. He managed to get it fixed on all three computers.

I watched 60 Minutes and then read the rest of the evening and took my bath at 7:00PM and then went to bed at 9:00PM. It had been a trying day. I cancelled my appointment for Monday to have Cox look over the TV problem. They must have go it fixed because it was fine all day today.
