Saturday and a Good Night's Sleep

I slept well last night and only woke up once and then got right back to sleep. It's always good to get a good night's sleep. The only problem was sinus drainage. Finally I got up and got  a Kleenex and blew my nose good and then turned over on my stomach. That helped quite a bit. I am really allergic to both Spring and Fall. I do a lot of sneezing, etc. It's a mess!

I will soon get up and make my breakfast.  I didn't have anything for supper, not even a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or popcorn.  So I am pretty hungry this morning.

I am eating it now here in the den..as usual.

It's 6:05AM now and the cats may be out there for their breakfast too. When I finish my oatmeal I will check.

I will also check the weather site.

I checked the weather first. Today is to be 83 degrees with a 10% chance. of rain.Tonight is to be 53 degrees and a 50% chance of rain, Tomorrow (Sunday) is to be 74 degrees and  cloudy, Monday is to be 62 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 53 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 62 degrees and mostly sunny, Thursday is to be 74 degrees and mostly sunny, Friday is to be 77 degrees and sunny. Tonight appears to be our best chance of rain. I hope that works out!

Now I will check out the cats. It's almost 7:00AM.

Both cats were out there waiting for me to open the door and see them there waiting for breakfast. So I took their food out to them and they are busy eating now.

The cats have finished eating and are gone. I brought their food in and put it back in the garage and covered it.

It's not quite light yet and I will wait awhile to take my walk. 

It's 7:27AM now and light out. I will get my jacket on and begin my walk.

I got home from my walk about 7:47AM. It was a little brisk  but I wore my jacket so I was comfortable.

I've been reading this morning and it's 12:32PM and I am going to go down to the Copan restaurant and get their small chef salad  for my lunch. It's always good and healthy too.

So More Later...

I had that small chef salad at the Copan Restaurant and as usual, it was good. I brought the leftover iced tea home. 

Keith texted me this afternoon to say he had ordered me a new kindle.The other one died. It had to be continuously charged nearly every day and then it got so it wouldn't hold a charge at all and it wouldn't open any book I downloaded.

I raked the back yard into 13 piles of leaves. When I rest a minute or so I will go pick them up and bag them in a large black leaf bag. I have some plastic yard gloves I can wear to protect my hands and nails. I decided not to buy gas and mow them. Leslie reminded me that the gas would get old over the winter. I was just lucky that gas I had left last fall made it over the winter months and was still good last Spring. It took a little while for me to get the mower  started... four or five tries... but I was surprised it started at all. Then I ran it out of gas like John had wanted me to. I realize this is not the last time I will have to rake leaves. 

I got the leaves picked up and put in the yard bag. Not that it will do any good. Tomorrow they will be back out there again. But it's good exercise for me.

I took another bag out to the front and cleaned up the leaves behind the hedge. Then I swept the garage and the area.

I read awhile and now I am getting ready to take my bath since it's almost 7:00PM. I will put my pajamas on afterward and my duster and read some more until time to post my blog on Keith's blog and then go on to bed at 9:00PM or so.

It's 9:25PM and I am ready to go to bed. I have been reading and lost track of time.

Friday and Dusting

I slept pretty well last night again. I was up a little before 5:00AM but had a good night's sleep otherwise. I read last night until I finished the second book. I was going to watch some TV but Cox was down in this area. I reported it and they told me our entire area was down and they were working to get it up again. In about 20 minutes they had that fixed. There was really nothing on TV that interested me anyhow. I did watch a program I had recorded and then finished the book. If the Caney library is open today I will check out a couple more books here. I will check that out when I take my walk.

Right now I am having my breakfast. It is 5:28AM. 

I will go check out the weather report now if the TV signal is still up. You never know about Cox. I will also check out the cats a little later.

I caught "the weather on the 8's" right away. (Tonight there is a 10% chance of rain)  Today is to be 85 degrees and sunny. Tomorrow is to be 81 degrees and sunny, (a 10% chance of rain) Sunday is to be 74 degrees and partly cloudy,  Monday will be 60 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 54 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 60 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 71 degrees and mostly sunny. No real rain in the forecast this next week. 10% is not much of a chance!

I opened the front door at 6:14AM and both cats were waiting for their breakfast so I took it out to them.They are usually not this early. But they are eating now!

They have finished eating so I took their food back in the garage and covered it up again.

It's 7:01AM now and as soon as it gets light I will start my walk.

I walked over to the library and back.They open from 12:00 until 6:00PM Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The other days they are open at 9:00AM. 

When I returned, I read awhile but my Kindle is not working anymore. I could not get it to download anything.

Then I decided to go to Independence and visit Leslie. I asked her if she wanted to go to the Dairy Queen and get a blizzard but they had had pancakes for breakfast and she was not hungry so I went by myself after our visit. 

Then I called Joanne Stoner to see if she wanted to go to lunch but she had plans with her son, Paul. The next time I ask her, I will call her earlier. When I called her this morning, she was driving and couldn't answer the phone. When she finally called me back she had her own plans. She did find an apartment that she will move into in December. It is just a couple of blocks from her daughter-in-law's work.That will be good and handy.

It's 4:00PM now and I have been going over my notes for Sunday's sermon.

I also finally found those lost photos Carol, my niece, sent me of my Bob with his dad and family. They were in my Bible...of all places! That must have been before we were married. He looks very young and his dad was still alive in those photos. And Nancy was very young in them too.

More even later... It's 6:07PM and I am going to take my bath now and put my pajamas on and read awhile.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept very well last night and only woke up once and took my meds and then went right back to sleep and slept until my usual 5:00AM. I have made my bed and got myself ready for the day. I am eating my breakfast now here in the den.

Later this morning I will clean the apartment again...my usual Thursday job. If it is nice enough out...no rain..I will take my walk this morning at 7:00AM. I will have to wear a jacket I imagine.  I missed my walk yesterday because it was misting. We were forecast for severe storms yesterday morning but they never developed...at least not here. All of southeast Kansas was under a storm warning.  We were even warned to take cover.That was evidently a false alarm.

It's almost 6:00AM now and I have finished my breakfast and will go check out the weather forecast now...and eventually the cats. 

I opened the door and Scruff was on the window sill out there waiting for me to bring out her food. She dug right in and ate hungrily. Blondie wasn't out there and hasn't come even yet. In fact Scruff has had her fill and has left now. If he doesn't come soon, I bring bring in the food and put it away and cover it. Speak of the devil and he appears. He is out there eating now. One of the neighbor's buys over on State street feeds him too. He is gone now. .

I did catch the weather forecast. Today will be 74 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday will be 83 degrees and sunny, Saturday will be 81 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday is to be 78 degrees and partly cloudy, and Monday is to be 64 degrees and mostly sunny, Tuesday is  to be 58 degrees and sunny, Wednesday will be 66 degrees and sunny. That's it for the week and it appears no more rain...too bad.We really need it. 

I went to bring in the cat food and Blondie showed up again. I left it out there for him to eat some more. He is gone again now.

I didn't get away for my walk until 7:30AM. It was late getting light this morning. It was cloudy. It's nearly 8:00AM now and it's still cloudy out there. So now I will begin my mopping.

I got all the floors mopped and now I will wait awhile until they dry to begin my vacuuming. As usual, I will begin with the bedroom, hall, and den.

I got the bedroom, hall and den vacuumed and I will rest a bit before doing the dining room and living room. I dragged those chairs out of the dining room and into the kitchen and living room so I could vacuum there. I will start with the dining room and then get those heavy chairs back under the table and out of the living room doorway so I can vacuum there too.

I got the apartment cleaned..and those chairs back under the table.... everything but the dusting...and I will do that tomorrow. I have nothing going on tomorrow.

I have been reading again and then I called Dean Kelley to see how Rod was doing. He is much better and they are transferring him from KU Med Center to the rehab hospital there in Topeka. That way he will get rehab and Dean can see him a couple of times a day if he wants to. And he can have lunch with him in their dining room each day if he wants to.

Then I went to the Caney Market and bought water and popcorn. Every once in awhile I just want popcorn instead of something for supper.

Now back to the book!

I finished the second book and I will take them both back the next time I am in Coffeyville.

I fixed myself some popcorn to eat while I watched TV.

I took my bath at 7:00PM, put my pajamas on and my duster and prepared to watch TV. The problem was...there was no TV in our area. I called Cox and within thirty minutes or so, they had it fixed. There was nothing I wanted to watch anyhow. It was 9:27PM and I was going to put my latest blog on Keith's site. Then I was going on to bed.

Wednesday and a Flu Shot

Amazingly, I slept through the night last night and didn't wake up until nearly 5:00AM. I made the bed and got myself ready for the day.

It will be a busy day. I will get my hair done at 9:00AM and then go to the doctor's office to get my flu shot and perhaps the third booster shot too.

I am having my breakfast now, as usual, here in the den. 

The laptop was frozen this morning and I had to reboot it to get it unfrozen. It is still running Windows 7. 

If I can finish my second library book, I will take the two books back to the Coffeyville library while I am over there. I will check out two more if I do. My Kindle has stopped working for me.

I turned on the TV to find that we are all under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:15AM ..every area from Neodesha south including Independence, Parsons, and all the southeast Kansas area . Quarter sized hail and strong 60 mile per hour winds were forecast.

Then I caught the week's forecast for our area. Today is to be 78 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 75 degrees and partly cloudy,   Friday is to be 83 degrees and sunny, Saturday is to be 84 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday is to be 74 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 67 degrees and  sunny, Tuesday is to be 62 degrees and sunny.

I have a 9:00AM hair appointment so I am glad the warning should be over in a few minutes. After I get my hair done, I will go to the doctor's office to get my flu shot, then to the library.

I will leave for the hair appointment at 8:15AM. I hope the danger of hail is over by then.

When I got to Coffeyville I went to the bank and got the money for my hair and Wacky Pack lunch later here at Caney. 

I then went to get my hair done and then to the library to return the two books I had checked out last week. I checked out two more.

When I got back to Caney, I stopped at our Sonic and ordered my Wacky Pack.

For $2.18, you can hardly beat that for lunch. I put the little toy in a box in my trunk. I will give them to Leeann the next time we have a child's party. That's what I did with the last toys I had accumulated when we had the "back to school party" in August.

I should have washed my car while I was in Coffeyville. I thought about it after I got my flu shot but I forgot to do it. I did stop at the Health Department and made an  appointment for next Wednesday to get my third Covid booster shot. They didn't have a nurse working today.

I read all afternoon on another of the books from the library and finished the first one.

It's 6:07PM now and I will take my bath and put my pajamas and duster on.

It's 7:17PM now and I intend to go to bed at 9:00PM.

Tuesday and Cookies to Independence

I slept poorly last night. I woke up every hour on the hour but most of the time I was able to get back to sleep.I even took Melatonin but this time it didn't seem to help. I got up one time and looked out and it was raining! How we needed that!

I finally got up at 5:00AM and stripped my bed and washed the sheets and towels. They are ready to go into the dryer now.

I got the laundry in the dryer now with some dryer sheets.I will fold it out when it's dry and put it away.

I made my breakfast and ate it there in the den. 

About 8:30AM I will drive over to our church and pick up all those cookies from the frig and take them to Independence to the First Christian Church. And while I was in Bartlesville yesterday and had some free time after took Sally to work, I bought the things for our shoe box project. I am doing that for a little girl.

When I opened the front door, Scruff was out there waiting for her breakfast so I took it out to her.. She is eating now. I don't see Blondie.It's not raining now but it has been. The sidewalks and driveway are wet. I know it was raining when I got up  and checked in the night.

Blondie finally came  to eat after Scruff finished and was gone. 

And I caught the weather forecast. It's 7:00 and 63 degrees out there. Today will be 79 degrees and rain and wind and a 40% chance of rain. And tonight it is to be 63 degrees and we have a 50% chance of rain. Wednesday will be 79 degrees and mostly sunny. Thursday will be 74 degrees and sunny, Friday is to be 79 degrees and sunny, Saturday is to be 86 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday is to be 75 degrees and  partly cloudy, and Monday is to be 64 degrees and mostly sunny. That's not as much rain as I was hoping for but any rain is good news for us.

I picked up the cookies at the church  and took them to Independence to the First Christian Church up there.Their pastor came out and took the cookies I had brought and told me we could begin taking them up there every other week since they had fewer people eating with them and they were accumulating cookies too fast. I texted our people and they were happy to cut back on the cookies we take to them. The next time we will need them with be October 25th. I will remind the congregation of that next date that week.

It's 10:34AM and I have been reading my latest library book. I guess I will go back to it now.

At lunchtime I decided to go down to Copan Restaurant and have their small chef salad and iced tea. That's what I did.I brought the iced tea home with me to finish drinking.

It is sprinkling again. We really need the moisture. It's 1:18PM now. I will go check and see if I got any mail.

So more later....

It sprinkled some this afternoon but not near as much as we needed. But any moisture is better then none at all.

I have read some more this afternoon and also went to the post office and bought stamps again.

I took my bath a little early..at 6:30PM. Then I put my pajamas on and my duster. I will read some more. There is nothing on TV I am interested in after the news.

I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM

 

Monday and a Trip to See Nancy

I slept fitfully last night until I got up and took three Melatonin tablets. Then I slept like a baby and was up at 5:00AM as usual. 

Sally called me last night and asked me if I could take her to Bartlesville when I go to see Nancy today. She said she could get a ride home but didn't have a car yet to get herself down there. Of course, I told her I could. I will pick her up at 8:00AM this morning and take her downtown to the YMCA where she works three days a week....Monday,Wednesday and Friday. I took her last Monday but I don't know how she got down there Wednesday and Friday. She probably found another friend to take her. I don't know if she has even started looking for another car. The motor was blown on her van so fixing that is not an option.

I have finished my breakfast and am just drinking my coffee now.

So More Later ....I will go turn on the TV to "the weather on the 8's" to check out the forecast. It's 6:58AM and no weather forecast yet.

Today is to be 79 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be  82 degrees and showers and wind, Wednesday is to be 76 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Thursday is to be 75 degrees and sunny, Friday is to be 81 degrees and sunny, Saturday is to be 87 degrees and mostly sunny, and Sunday is to be 76 degrees and sunny. I see the rain is still in the forecast.I certainly hope we get rain those two days.We are desperate for it.

The cats finally came and ate and I took the food back in the garage when they finished and covered it again.

I left to pick up Sally about 7:35AM and she was ready. I took her to Bartlesville to the YMCA where she works. Then I went to wake up Nancy.I visited with Nancy while she dressed and at 10:45AM, we went to pick up Sally at 11:00. We watched people until Sally came out and then we went back to Caney for lunch. After lunch at Eggbert's  we took Sally over to the car repair shop where she had hoped to find the car he had intended to bring her to try. Unfortunately he was not able to get it this week.I am not sure how she will get to work on Wednesday. I could take her Friday but Wednesday may be game day at the senior center. Plus, I have an appointment to get my hair done at 9:00AM and my flu shot afterward on Wednesday morning.

It's a dilemma!

It's almost 7:00PM and I am going to take my bath and put my pajamas on and my duster and read until 9:00PM my usual bedtime. It has been a busy day again and tomorrow will be too. I will go over to our church and pick up the cookies from the frig and take them up to the First Christian Church for the dessert for their weekly Tuesday evening free supper.

Sunday and Church

I slept fairly well last night. I woke up several times but was able to get back to sleep until slightly after 5:00AM..when I just got up. I was very tired after all that work in the yard. But it looks a lot better.. not that it will stay that way..leaves are still falling until the trees are bare for winter.

As usual, I am eating my breakfast here in the den.

I have dressed, made my bed and got myself ready for church. I will leave here about 9:30AM so I will have a chance to sweep any bugs that may have crawled in under the door and the grass that may be on the doormat so we won't track it in. I think the new person Tony got to take his place as our mower may have mowed last week. I noticed he had also trimmed. Tony didn't trim too. And the bushes in front had also been trimmed.

It's only 6:06AM now. I will go turn on the TV and look at the weather forecast when "the weather on the 8's" comes on. I will also look for the cats to come for their breakfast.

No cats yet but it's only 6:23AM. 

I see Blondie has walked up now. I fed him but I don't see anything of Scruff...not yet anyway. I just checked again and she is out there eating now. When she is finished, I will put the cat food back in the garage and cover it again.

The weather forecast finally came on at 6:48AM. Today will be 80 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 85 degrees and partly cloudy,  Tuesday is to be 82 degrees and showers and wind.Wednesday is to be 78 degrees and AM Thunderstorms, Thursday is to be 73 degrees and sunny, Friday is to be 79 degrees and sunny and Saturday is to be 82 degrees and partly cloudy. I am sure counting on those rains on Tuesday and Wednesday.  I sure hope they happen.

I watched the news and read in my latest book until time to go to church.  When I got there, I cleaned out the leaves which had fallen in the bushes in front and put them in a plastic bag to put in my trash at home. 

Karan had a very good service and sermon. After the service we all went to Independence to go to the Bar B Q place to eat. I called Kay at Just Us and learned that she was sick and was not going to open today. She had taken chemo therapy yesterday and was sick from it. She has to take another chemo therapy tomorrow and doesn't know whether she will be sick or not from that but is not looking forward to it to finding out. Poor woman... I told her we would pray for her.

I speak next Sunday and I will have to do some more additional study. I prepared that sermon several weeks ago and will have to familiarize myself with it again. It's from Jeremiah and I am not really into understanding the Old Testament. The culture was so different from the modern culture. It take some getting used to adjusting my remarks to make sense of their philosophy and theology. I have a week to do that though and I should be able to put together a thirty minute sermon. I have been looking over my notes this afternoon.

I wrote letters to every one who was not at church today and sent them a copy of the  bulletin with the prayer list and announcements. There were six letters.

When I finished, I came in and took my bath and got into my pajamas and duster. It's 7:37PM now and I will read until 9:00PM or so when I usually go to bed.
