Saturday and a Trip to Coffeyville

I slept fairly well last night. I had trouble getting to sleep to begin with. Then I woke up in the night and needed to go to the bathroom and while there, I took my med.

This morning my watch has stopped. I just had a new battery put in six months ago. For some reason this watch just eats batteries. I may go to a jewelry store to get this next one instead of Walmart.

I am lost without a watch so I will go over to Coffeyville and get one put in. There's nowhere here in Caney that does that.

Bob called this morning to say my ex-neighbor, Marilyn, had gone to the emergency room yesterday very sick. I tried to call Evelyn to find out how Marilyn was and she had not heard she was sick. She contacted Marilyn and then called me back. Marilyn had been just fine but then she went to Arby's for a turkey sandwich and after that she got violently ill with both vomiting and diarrhea.  Her stepdaughter came and took her to the Coffeyville emergency room. They diagnosed it as food poisoning. It will be awhile before Marilyn goes back to Arbys....if ever.

I will call Marilyn after a while and see how she is feeling today. She needs to know I was concerned about her. She was a good neighbor.

Bob and Joanne went to the Kiwanis pancake breakfast this morning. They were unimpressed with the coffee. Bob said it was very weak. He much prefers the Lion's Club pancake breakfast.

Well, more later. I'd better get over to Coffeyville and get that watch battery.

I stopped in Coffeyville and got a watch battery from the Cantrell Jewelry Store and then went on to the First Baptist Church to the pancake lunch. Then I went by to visit with Marilyn, my former neighbor. After we had a nice visit, I went to Brahms and bought my yogurt and then came on back home. It has been cold all afternoon so I just watched TV for awhile. I was tired of reading.  At 5:00PM, I got a message saying "they" had tried to deliver my package 4 times. Unless it was the box of coffee from Amazon, I don't know what package that would be.

Marilyn just called me to say there was no package there at the apartment and no truck had been by to make a delivery. That's good. I thought I got my coffee order cancelled in time before the move. I do have to go to Walgreen's sometime soon and pick up my prescription. They texted me that it was ready.

It's almost 5:30PM so I guess I will go watch the news.

More later...

I watched the news and then the weather channel  until 8:00PM. I could not keep my eyes open any longer and went on to bed.

Now Friday is Cleaning Day

I slept well last night and was very glad I didn't clean yesterday. I won't be getting out on a solid sheet of ice so today I will clean instead. I have just been watching the weather channel and playing a game on the laptop. It's after 8:00AM now and I haven't even begun. I have had my breakfast though and done my dishes.

I had better get the cleaning started and get back to this later.

I washed the bare floors and vacuumed the entire apartment. I even made the bed up on the trundle bed. Now, if some reason, I would want to use it, it's all ready for me. Missy and I used to sleep on it when I had company. Again, I really miss Missy! Now I am sleeping with the little Shar Pei stuffed puppy. It gives me some comfort to have something in there next to me where Missy used to be. She usually slept right next to my back.

It's only 9:30AM and I am finished except for the dusting.  That won't take long. After I catch my breath, I will do that.

More later:

I didn't get the dusting done after all. I will do it in the morning. I went to the library and they were open since we had no snow.  I took the two books back and got two more. I had one of my chicken pot pies for lunch and an ice cream bar afterward.  Then I read all afternoon. Nancy called about 4:00PM and we visited for awhile.

Then I had an e-mail from Gay. She had her little cat put down today. It had a UTI and it was reoccurring again and in pain.  She did the merciful thing as hard as that is to do.

In a little while, I will eat some of my yogurt and read some more or watch the news.  It's 4:55PM now and the news will be on shortly.

After the news, I will take my bath and later...at 9:00PM, I will plan to go to bed.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning Day

I slept well again last night and got up shortly before 5:00AM. I have had my breakfast and dressed for the day. I had better enjoy today because tomorrow we are to have a wintry mix of rain and ice and snow and 20 degree weather. Today it is to be in the 70s. The weather is very sporadic these days..

I had planned to clean today but may wait and do it tomorrow when the weather will be terrible.

I updated the address book on this computer. I am using it more since I got it from Bob. I hope I got all those in the congregation.

I started another book last night but am not too impressed with it. It is called "Calico Joe" and is another Gresham book.

More later...

I went out to Dollar General and bought another birthday card for Cheyenne...this one is from the congregation. I have it out on my mailbox with the flag up.  The postman should be around in 40-45 minutes.

I went to city hall this morning and got the form to fill out to register to vote and filled it out and put it in the mail.

I also called Nancy and, sure enough, she is sick to her stomach again. I have tried to encourage her to let me take her to the doctor but she is evidently in denial and does not want to know what the problem is. You can't force someone to go to the doctor if they are determined not to go.

I am considering what to eat for lunch. I was going to eat out if Nancy was willing but now I may just open a can of soup.  I should go ahead and vacuum today too. I usually do that on Thursdays. Tomorrow is forecast for bad weather and I could just wait and do my cleaning tomorrow since I will not be going anywhere then.

More later....

I didn't have any lunch. Instead, I went by Nancy's and discovered she was better although she was still in her night clothes. She gave me some tomatoes that Sandy had brought her.  She had plenty. She also gave me an orange and some bananas. The Dollar General doesn't carry fruit or produce so the city orders that from another source. They plan to put in a city owned market here this year.

While we were visiting, Schwan's called me. They were at my apartment but were not supposed to be there until after 5:00PM.  I mentioned that and also that Nancy had been one of their customers but she had not seen them in months. She gave me permission to give them her address and they said they would come right over. They did that and she ordered several things. Then they delivered my order and I paid them for that. Since it was ice cream bars, I came on back home and put them in the freezer.

They have a new salesman and his name is Dalton.  He lives in Coffeyville.

After I got back home, I watched some TV and later took my bath and went on to bed at 9:00PM. It had been a big day but no cleaning was done. I will do that tomorrow since we are forecast for snow tomorrow.

Wednesday and More Cold Weather

It is 30 degrees this morning. I slept pretty well last night. I left the door to the den open and that helped keep it warm. I also put a blanket over my feet and legs and that helped too. What really helped was the benadryl I took to dry up my sinus'.  I was drowning in my own juices before that.  I slept until 6:00AM for the first time in a long time.

As I was getting myself ready for the day, Scott called. He was on his way to work. I had not heard from him in well over a week. This past week was his first week on the job on his new job. I texted him last night to see how it was going and he and Ginger were at a play at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.  He told me this morning that they stayed until halfway through the play but Ginger had a flight out this morning early and so they left early.

I don't have a plan for today.  I usually clean on Thursday but I may just clean today since I have nothing going on but reading.  I have to admit, I am bored.

More later....

I read all afternoon and finished the first book. It was "Rogue Lawyer"...another Gresham book.  I finally ate some more of my chili.  I froze the rest.

I started "Calico Joe" but I am not too impressed with it so far.

At 7:00PM, I took my bath and got myself ready for bed/

I went to bed at 9:00PM.

Tuesday and a Trip to Coffeyville

I slept much better last night. I had read most of the day so didn't get as much of that blue glow from the TV that damages your body's melatonin supply.

I will text Bob in a few minutes and see if he wants to meet for breakfast this morning, We generally have done that on Tuesday when I go to Coffeyville for my hair appointment.  I will also go to the bank and the market while there. I will have to check and see if we have fog this morning too.

So, more later...

So far so good. No fog....Bob says Joanne wants to meet for breakfast too. They will meet meet me there at Eggberts. I will leave about 7:15. Alexa says that is when dawn begins.  I should be there shortly after 7:30.  I am drinking my chai latte now. That will warm up my stomach.

I want to go out to Walmart after breakfast and get a few things. My hair appointment isn't until 9:00AM. Which I do first depends on how long we stay at Eggberts.  I will probably just go to the bank before my hair appointment. I will need money for the week.

Vic McCaren called last night. He had not seen my car in the carport there in Coffeyville for a couple of weeks and found out that I had moved. He wanted my address now. He brings me strawberries in May and peaches in the fall and wants to continue doing that. I am delighted.  I told him I could meet him in Coffeyville or if he comes up highway 75 from Porter, he could drop by Caney or I could meet him somewhere here and pick them up. He will call me when the time comes and we will decide.  It is so good of him to do that. He also takes some to Wayne, my old landlord on the block there in Coffeyville.

More even later after I get back home....

I met Bob and Joanne for breakfast and afterward went to the bank and then to get my hair done. After that, I went out to Walmart and bought the few things I needed. Then I came back home, put away my empty trash container and picked up my mail. I then warmed up some chili for my lunch and had some cheese and crackers with it and read my mail.

Nancy called me again,. She and Sandy had been to see Polly Pearsall at the nursing home and Nancy called to ask me if she had her temporary front tooth in when I was with her day before yesterday. She did have it in. Now she has mislaid it again. She really should go ahead and get the permanent one because it appears she is going to mislay this one from time to time. She should put it in the same place every time she takes it out. That's what I do with my hearing aid. I hope she finds it. Sandy is helping her look for it.

Leslie and John came a while ago. They had been delivering that liquid feed for cattle. Leslie hooked up my DVD player. Now I can watch a DVD if I cannot find anything I want to watch on TV or on Amazon Prime. I can even check them out at the library here.

I will read some more on my latest book that I checked out at the library. I am not particularly impressed with it but it is something to read.

More later in the day...

I finished the book "The Confession" and before I took it and the other one back to the library, I called Nancy to see if she had found her tooth...she had! Thank goodness! Then I went back to the library and returned the two books I had checked out and checked out two more. I may start one of those this evening if there's nothing interesting to watch on TV this evening.

More even later....

I read all evening until bath time and then after my bath, I read some more.

I went to bed at 9:00PM.

Monday and Laundry

I got up early this morning and stripped my bed. I did a load of laundry while I fixed and ate my breakfast. While the laundry was drying, I remade my bed, then folded and put the rest away. I sure like my new washer and dryer. The one at the other apartment was an antique. Now I am considering taking my coverlet to the laundry here and washing and drying it there. It got a little soiled in the move.

We have dense fog this morning and rain too. I will stay in and read. I got two more books at the library on Saturday. Tomorrow I hope the weather is resolved so I can go to Coffeyville to get my hair done and go to the market. I need a few things from Walmart but nothing that can't wait until the weather clears. My main concern is my hair. It will be a week tomorrow since it was washed and it's also time for the haircut. I also go to the bank while I am there. And I usually have breakfast with Bob at 7:30AM on Tuesdays. My hair appointment is at 9:00AM. I will just play it by ear. I am not going to take my life in my hands to get a haircut.

More later...

I read all morning and finished the book, "The Litigators" by John Grisham.  It kept my attention all morning and I had just begun it yesterday evening. I did make a run to the post office to buy stamps. I wanted to get Cheyenne's birthday card in the mail to her. Her birthday is next Saturday. She will be seven. I had the rest of my tomato basil soup for lunch with cheese and crackers. It was good! Then I ate my last two cookies. I also had an ice cream bar.

More even later....

There was nothing I was interested in on TV so I read all evening. I read the Gresham book, "The Confession". I still have a little bit to go but I have not enjoyed this book as much as others.

Finally, at 7:00PM, I took my bath and got ready for bed and then back to the book. I finally gave up and went on to bed at 9:00PM.

Sunday and Church and Coffee Cake Today

I got up very early this morning.  I went to bed at 8:00PM. I was very tired after our trip and the dinner as well as the tour of the Price Tower. It was very interesting though and our guide seemed to know everything about it's history.

I have dressed and had my breakfast and am now ready to start the coffeecake. Bob and I alternate doing a coffee cake and his banana nut bread for the church school classes.  I am not sure what the weather is like today and I will drive the 17 miles or so to the church now. I am thinking it is just going to be cold and not icy.

I will get back to this after I get the coffee cake in the oven.

I have been looking through the file cabinet for my passport and have not been able to find it. Strange! One of these days I will just go through every file. I must have put it in a file I didn't mean to use for that. I have all the information I need to get a duplicate if I should ever need one again but I would like to find the original.  It worries me that I cannot find it in the file that is labeled "passport".

The coffeecake must be about done now. I had better get it out of the oven to cool and then I will ice it. I will leave here about 8:40AM this morning to drive over to church. I still have an hour and a half.

More later in the day...

We had a nice sized congregation this morning and afterward most of us went to Great China in Independence for lunch.

My brother-in-law told me he was ready to stop baking his banana nut bread so I plan to just do the coffee cake every week. I know he is tired of dealing with it.

Afterward I came back to my apartment and did the newsletters and sent out three to those who are not online.

I plan to read this afternoon until 60 Minutes comes on at 6:00PM. I will take my bath at 7:00PM and try to stay up until 9:00PM when I plan to go on to bed.
