Saturday and No Particular Plan

I slept very well last night probably because I took two Melatonin tablets.  I was only up once in the night and I got right back to sleep afterward. I also slept until 5:00AM and it's 6:05 right now and I am eating my breakfast here in the den. It was a very good night's sleep! 

In just a little bit I will check on the cats and watch "the weather on the 8's" too. Then I will get back to my book after all of that.  

Both cats were there and so I fed them both. The are gone now so I will bring the food back in the garage and cover it.

I finally caught "the weather on the 8's" . Today is to be 78 degrees and sunny, Sunday is forecast to be 86 degrees and cloudy and windy, Monday 90 degrees and sunny and windy, Tuesday 91 degrees and mostly sunny, Wednesday 90 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday 90 degrees and mostly sunny. Friday 88 degrees and partly cloudy.

That's it for the next week.

I will go watch the news now and read the book later... 

It's 7:35AM now.

It's 10:41AM now and I have been reading all morning. I am tired of it now and will find something else to do. It is 66 degrees out and the sun is shining brightly. 

When the mail came, I had a beautiful card from my older son and his wife...with some lovely sentiments.

I put gas in the mower and blew some of the dirt off it with the blower. I imagine Krystal will want to mow tomorrow after church. She works at Pizza Hut after she works at the Bartlesville post office weekdays and Saturdays then she works two days a week at the local Pizza Hut . So Sundays are her usual choice. 

I went to the Caney Market and visited their Deli area and bought some chicken and Okra and green beans and a biscuit for my lunch. It was very good. I have enough for another meal too.

I have read all afternoon and it's 5:25PM now. I am tired of reading too. 

I bought some more hummingbird feed at the hardware store and made up some fresh food for them. 

I watched the CBS news and Lucky Dog, both of which I had recorded. I like to record what I watch and then I can delete the commercials. Most of the commercials are terrible...usually pharmaceuticals.  I believe encouraging the use of pharmaceuticals is something doctors should do if they are necessary...not something the pharmaceutical companies should be doing. No wonder almost all medicine is so expensive.  They pay a fortune for those TV commercials. Then they add the cost to the medicines.

It's already a little past 7:00PM and I will take my bath next. I believe I will have a banana for my supper. Later, I will go on to bed about 9:00PM or so.

 

Friday and Dusting

I slept fitfully last night and was up an hour earlier then usual. I don't know what the problem was but I just couldn't sleep. Maybe I just need to go to bed an hour later....at 10:00PM instead of 9:00PM...or take some melatonin at bedtime or at least when I wake up in the middle of the night.

I was thinking about Nancy for one thing. I stopped by the beauty shop there with her at the assisted living last Tuesday to find out why they were not doing her hair weekly. It turns out that the beautician comes to get her on Tuesday afternoons and, of course, I always have Nancy on Tuesdays and take her to lunch and for a long drive to get her out of that place for awhile. So I am thinking I need to go see her a different day..either Monday or Friday..even Thursday and I could do my housework on Tuesday instead of Thursday. The beautician will not change her schedule to accommodate Nancy. They don't make appointments because many of the residents forget them. She goes to get them when she's ready. As much as they pay for that housing, you'd think they could accommodate someone who has a regular visitor. But she was adamant that she wouldn't.

Anyhow, I never got around to the dusting yesterday so I will do it today.

I missed the local forecast  this time....maybe later. No cats yet either.

O.K. I finally caught "the weather on the 8's". Today is to be  69 degrees and cloudy, Saturday is to be 78 degrees and sunny, Sunday is forecast for 86 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Monday is to be 91 degrees and sunny and windy, Tuesday 91 degrees and mostly sunny, Wednesday 91 degrees and partly cloudy, and Thursday 91 degrees and partly cloudy.

That's the forecast for whatever it's worth. Now to check on the cats again. 

Only Scruff was there and I fed her and she ate quickly and left. I took the cat food back to the garage and covered it. 

I drove downtown to see which store was burned and I saw it and it was really badly burned. I understand it also damaged the store next door as well.  I think that was the original Viva Carter hardware store that burned. It was the first store on the east of the alley across east of the Blackledge building. Unfortunately, there was also an apartment above that building that the owners lived in. It was also destroyed .. of course. I doubt the building can even be salvaged. It was badly burned..charred ......the entire thing.  Pitiful..hopefully the owner had insurance. 

Then I went to the market and bought milk and then came home. 

I need to go the Dollar General when they open at 8:00AM and get my Omeprazole that I take for the reduction of stomach acid. I was taking Tums or Rolaids and doctor Christensen did not want me using those at all.

The box for the Omeprazole says not to use it over 14 days. That's not what doctor Christensen said though. I will stop taking it and see how that works. It may be that I don't need it since I have taken it over  a year now.....ever since he told me to take it. It says "do not use more than  14 days unless directed by your doctor". I'll try to stop taking it and see if I even still need an antacid.

I met Kelly for lunch today. We visited for two hours. He wanted to meet for breakfast but I had already had breakfast when he contacted me so we settled on lunch. 

I worked some on the sermon for May 29th...it's a ways off but the older I get the longer it takes me to prepare.

I have been reading a new book.It is called "This Will Not Pass... Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America's Future"  and it's by Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns, two political analysts for CNN.

It's very interesting and thought provoking. I am almost halfway through it.

I have been reading the new book but it's 7:00PM now and I will take my bath. Then I might get back to the book until bedtime.

I've had my bath now. I will read until I get really tired and then go on to bed.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept fairly well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I am dressed and ready for the day and am eating my breakfast here in the den.

I will have my breakfast, watch "the weather on the 8's" and check on the cats a little later, around 6:00AM.

The cats never came at all today. It rained off and on all day. They must have stayed in somewhere dry.

I always start my cleaning by mopping the bare floors, then vacuum the carpets after that and dust last and wipe down the mirrors.

I ate the last of my bananas last night for a light supper. I didn't eat lunch because we had so many treats at the break at Bunco. I took what I had left to Marilyn and visited for awhile afterward.

I charged my watch yesterday so it has a full charge now. About once a week, I have to plug it into a USB port on the desktop computer and in an hour or so, it is fully charged.

I will go check on the weather now.

I just checked the weather and today is forecast to be 67 degrees and thunderstorms,Tomorrow is to be 71 degrees and cloudy with afternoon sunshine, Saturday 79 degrees and sunny, Sunday 88 degrees and windy and sunny, Monday 91 degrees and sunny and windy,  Tuesday 92 degrees and mostly sunny, Wednesday 90 degrees and partly cloudy. That's the next week.

We will soon see how accurate it is.

I watched the weather station awhile longer and then began my cleaning. I have mopped all the bare floors, and vacuumed the bedroom and den and now I need to rest before doing the living room and dining room. This little Shark exhausts me since it's much heavier then my own little vacuum sweeper. I always have to rest awhile before doing those last two rooms.   But that's no problem since I have all day. When I finally finish I will read awhile to recuperate. I may dust tomorrow or do part of it today and finish tomorrow.

I got the living room vacuumed and all I lack is the dining room and to put the chairs back under the table. Then I may begin dusting.

I got the rest of the apartment finished and finally figured out again how to empty the sweeper. It took me awhile. It's so different from my own sweeper. But I can vacuum the entire apartment without having to wait a day to finish so it's well worth it. I will begin dusting after I rest again.

My daughter and son-in-law sent me these beautiful tulips for Mother's Day! Aren't they lovely? They're even prettier on my phone camera and in real time!

I have been dealing with the bank again. I have always paid my bills online and with their new web site, I could no longer do that. The new site would not accept either the amount or the date to pay. I called and got someone who didn't know much about it and all those who did were on their lunch hour. She was going to have someone call me back after lunch and when I tried it again, it worked fine. Someone came back after lunch and they evidently they knew how to fix it. I tried once again and this time I was able to schedule a payment. 

And this afternoon I went to the market and bought water again.

It's almost 7:00PM and I will go take my bath and read or watch TV if there is anything on worth watching. As usual, I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM..

Wednesday and a Hair Day and Bunco

I slept pretty well again last night and was up shortly before 5:00AM, made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day.

I will go over to Coffeyville for my hair appointment at 9:00AM this morning and afterward read in my Kindle until 1:00PM when we play Bunco. That's the tentative plan at least. I hope it doesn't hail while I am there. I will leave here about 8:30AM. Right now I am having my breakfast here in the den as usual.

I will check out the weather forecast in a little while. It's just 5:28AM right now. A little later I will check for the cats. They may not be there as early as 8:15AM, That's a little early for them. They may miss their breakfast.

I just got to the TV in time to se the latest forecast on "the weather on the 8's". Scruff came for her breakfast too. I got her food as soon as I got the forecast and she ate heartedly and as she was eating, Blondie came too but he evidently had eaten at home because he didn't eat anything...just checked her out and left. As soon as she finished and left, I took the cat food back into the garage and covered it. 

The forecast didn't have any hail in it today...just thunderstorms. Today is to be 61 degrees and thunderstorms, Thursday is to be 69 degrees and thunderstorms, Friday is to have 72 degrees and clouds and that PM sunny, Saturday is to be 82 degrees and sunny, and Sunday 89 degrees and sunny, Monday is to be 92 degrees and sunny and windy and Tuesday 88 degrees and partly cloudy and windy.  That's the week ahead.. 

It's 7:50AM and I have been watching the news. I will leave for Coffeyville in about 30 minutes. I will stop at Sonic there and get a cherry limeade slush before I go to the beauty shop.

I read in my Kindle until time for Bunco. Then we played until 3:00PM. I took my leftover coffee cake to Marilyn and stayed awhile and visited with her. I got home about 4:50PM. It lightly rained all the way home.

It's nearly time for the CBS evening news. I will get back to this later...

I watched the CBS news and then read awhile. The rain has started again and it's really pouring out there. The guttering must be full because the water is pouring over the edge of it instead of down the downspout. It's almost 6:40PM and I think I will take my bath. I see the most intense rain and storm is near Oklahoma City. We have rain here but they have serious storms there.

I will read until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

Tuesday and a Visit With Nancy

I was up shortly before 5:00AM this morning and have dressed and made my bed and am having my breakfast in here in the den as usual. I slept pretty well again. 

I will be taking the cookies to Independence by 9:00AM  this morning and that will be the last time until August. They are taking May, June, and July off from cooking the meals. I don't know if the rest of the Independence churches are doing that or not.  Depending on the weather, from Independence I will go on to Bartlesville to visit Nancy. If the weather is not calm, I will call the Green Country Village assisted living and ask them to tell Nancy that I can't come this Tuesday. I don't want to risk hail for my car.

Now, I will go check out "the weather on the 8's" and a little later, I will check for the cats. Scruffy did come for supper last night just before the storm began. I imagine Blondie was in the house with his owners. Once the lightning began Scruff went somewhere to find shelter. But she ate her fill first.

I plan to leave here about 8:30AM if the weather permits it. But it's only 5:26AM now.

So what does the weather look like for today? Tuesday 64 degrees and clouds, Tomorrow is to have 65 degrees and thunderstorms, Thursday 71 degrees and thunder showers, Friday 74 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday 82 degrees and sunny, Sunday 88 degrees and sunny and Monday 90 degrees and sunny and windy. It looks like summer is not far away.

No cats yet...but it's early. They may be there now though. It's almost 6:00AM

Only Scruff came for breakfast this morning at 6:00AM and I was able to set the food out the front door and when she finished her breakfast, I took it back in the front door too. I put it in the garage and covered it. She's not an indoor cat like Blondie is. So she doesn't try to come in the house when I open that front door.

I have been watching the CBS news. Gail King was off today. And Jereica Duncan was there in her place. That was good because Jereica fits in better with the others and doesn't  try to dominate everything.

It's 8:06AM now and in about 25 minutes, I will leave for Independence to take the cookies to the First Christian Church there.

I took the cookies to the First Christian Church in Independence this morning at 9:00AM and then went on down to Bartlesville to visit Nancy and take her to lunch at Dink's. First I got gas at Walmart though. It was the cheapest in town there. We had a good lunch and then we took a drive to get her out and around in the community. She gets so tired of being cooped up there at the assisted living.

When I took her back to the assisted living, we stopped by the beauty shop there to make sure the beautician knew she needed her hair done on a regular basis. It seems the beautician had regularly dropped by to get her on Tuesday afternoons and Nancy refused to go...for some reason. I've done all I can do to help her get it done. It's up to Nancy now.

I got home about 3:20 PM. somehow or other, she managed to lose track of the paper I took her and the reading material too. I imagine it's in her bathroom since I went back out to the car to get it right after I got there this morning.  I think I deleted the letter Danny wrote too since I had run it off for her.

It's 5:19PM and I will go watch the news now.

As soon as the news was over Scott called me and visited with me a long time. We had a great visit. It had been awhile.

It's 7:10PM now and I will go take my bath. Then I will read until 9:00PM...my usual bedtime.

Monday and Laundry

I am up and around at my usual 5:17AM and have even stripped my bed and remade it and have the laundry in the dryer already. I slept pretty well last night. When it gets light outside, I will take my trash out. They don't pick it up until tomorrow morning but my trash bag is completely full. I need to put a clean one in the kitchen trash container.

Very few programs work on this laptop now. I can still blog using it and even get into my bank account but I can't use the e-mail or open any documents in My Documents.  Luckily I still have the desktop computer so I can get my  e mail on it and even open the documents on it. After Cox Complete Care got the conflicting security programs off it, it has not frozen again. I even had to use the Zoom program on the desktop computer when I watched the Mission Center worship service last night. Keith will be bringing me another laptop when he and Esther come over the Memorial Day weekend.

I don't have anything else planned for today..just the laundry... and if the weather permits, I will get the trimming done. Krystal mowed yesterday but I didn't get the trimming done.  

I will go check out the "weather on the 8's" now. It's only 5:38AM so surely the cats wouldn't be out there this early.

The weather channel says we will have 70 degrees today but are forecast for strong thunderstorms, Tuesday is forecast for 66 degrees and cloudy, Wednesday is to be 70 degrees and thunderstorms and a possibility of hail. Thursday 71 degrees and thunderstorms and Friday 73 degrees and partly cloudy and Saturday 77 degrees and mostly sunny. A possibility of hail is forecast for those days with thunderstorms...especially today and Wednesday and Thursday. Sunday is to be 84 degrees and mostly sunny.

I guess I will stay home and inside those days.

I got the laundry dried, folded and put away.

I have been watching CBS news this morning. I ordered a book they were discussing. It is called "This Will Not Pass". I should have it in less then a week.

It's 3:06PM now and I just finished another book on my Kindle. I had some more of my chicken and noodles for my lunch. I warmed it up in the microwave. It was still very good. I have just enough for one small helping and then I will have it finished.

We are under a tornado watch now. I just heard from David Harkin that we  have Bunco on Wednesday and if it doesn't hail, I will attend. I have plenty of cookies I can take for treats.  

It's 5:18PM now and I have been looking for a note I received from my son, Scott, years ago. I had it until I cleaned the den room last week and now I can't find it. I am afraid I accidentally shredded it along with some other old papers I meant to shred. I had kept it for years but I have looked everywhere for it the past couple of days and I am afraid it's gone for good. 

I see thunderstorms with damaging winds and large hail are possible about 7:00PM until 10:00PM and possibly a tornado with some storms. The weather says "be prepared and have a plan". I wish Stephen would be able to put his car away. It's setting in the driveway now. I don't know whether there are things in his garage taking up the space or if his car is just too big for the garage.

It's a little past 5:30PM now and I plan to take my bath at 7:00PM and go to bed at 9:00PM

Sunday and Church

I slept fairly well last night and was up shortly before 5:00AM. I have made my bed and got myself ready for church. I am eating my breakfast now here in the den. After 7:00AM or so I will need to text Karan to remind her to bring her cookies to church this morning and then about 8:00AM, I will call Phyllis and remind her too. They said last week if I hadn't reminded them, they would have forgotten. I should have done it yesterday. I got mine and Mike's yesterday at our market here in Caney.

I will go check on the weather and the cats in a little while. It's only 5:40AM so it's too early for the cats. They are usually here around 6:00AM or a little after. If they come at all.

The cats were both here at 5:55AM. I fed them and they left when they were full and I took the food back to the garage and covered it. 

I was able to catch the weather just as soon as I sat down and turned on the TV.

Today is to be 77 degrees and mostly sunny, Monday is to be 71 degrees  with strong thunderstorms, Tuesday is to be 66 degrees with clouds and sunny in the afternoon, Wednesday is to be 70 degrees and thunderstorms, Thursday is to be 69 degrees and thunderstorms, Friday is to be 72 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 76  degrees and partly cloudy. Not  a great week's weather..that's for sure. 

I have been watching TV and I did call Phyllis to remind her of the cookies. 

She didn't need reminding because she had bought her cookies several days ago and put them in her car. That's where mine and Mike's are... in my car. 

I will leave here a little before 10:00AM this morning. I want to be sure the church is clean.  I also want to take that plaque back to the front door area outside of the church. It's as clean as I could get it. It was, after all, covered in mud and buried in mud. 

After this week, we won't need any more cookies until August. They are taking May, June, and July off doing the meals at the First Christian Church in Independence. They will begin cooking the meals again in August.

I went into Coffeyville to get some cash from their  machine on 11th street. It would not work so I went to the one on 8th street that used to be the Condon bank. It wouldn't work either. So I had to go clear over to Northeast street on the east side of Coffeyville to use their machine and luckily, it did work. I got $50. for the next week's expenses. But that was very aggravating and I lost a lot of time driving around to try to find a working machine.

Leslie had the service today and she did a good job.

After church Rick and Carmen and Phyllis and I went to Just Us for lunch, As always, it was very good. Kay saved us a table and we sat with Rick and Carmen.

After I took Phyllis back to the church to get her car, I came on home. About 3:00PM, Krystal came to mow. She did a good job, as usual.

I swept off the back mat and also the front one. Krystal cleaned up her own mess and put the leaf bag in the trash container for me.

It's 4:15PM now.

I will probably not eat anything but a banana for supper. I had a good sized lunch. I will watch the Mission Center service at 6:00PM and record 60 Minutes. That way I can edit out the commercials. After I watch that, I will take my bath and read until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

It is 8:40PM now and I have been reading in another new book on my Kindle. I have had my bath and am ready to go the bed soon.

Tomorrow I will change the sheets on my bed and put them in the laundry with my pajamas and underwear and towels. 

As for now, as soon as I finish the blog, I am going to bed.
