Saturday and Trimming

I slept well again last night and was up shortly before 5:00AM and got myself ready for the day.  I am eating my breakfast here in the den as usual. After awhile I will go turn on "the weather on the 8's" and see if anything has changed. I am so glad I got the mowing done yesterday. I had to do it in spells but at least I got it done. I will also check on the cats. They did make it for supper last night but they are usually pretty hungry in the mornings.

The past couple of mornings when I have used the microwave for my oatmeal, the old thing continues to beep after I take the oatmeal out. I had to slam the door several times to make it stop. This morning I just slammed the door once good and that took care of that annoyance. It's a very cheap appliance.

I will go check the weather now. It's 5:52AM. So more later... 

Both cats were out there waiting for their breakfast. I fed them and they are still eating. After they finally finished I put the cat food in the garage and covered it.

I brought the laptop in the living room. It's another couple of minutes until the weather comes on again. I will try to post it here after it shows on TV.  Still no weather on the 8's. They seem to be skipping it this morning.

They finally showed it at 6:28AM. 

Today 78 degrees and afternoon thunderstorms, Sunday 84 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday 89 degrees and partly cloudy,  Tuesday 82 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Wednesday 79 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Thursday 80 degrees and AM showers, Friday 70 degrees and afternoon thunderstorms.

Still lots of rain.  More later...

I got the trimming finished and swept up the mess. Everything looks neat now.

It's 8:39AM ... 

I read most of the afternoon and then went out to Dollar General and bought a flat iron to iron my bangs

Then I went back to my reading until almost 8:00PM when finished the book and downloaded three more. I took my bath after that.  I will read some more until around 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

 

Friday and Dusting

I slept well again last night and didn't wake up at all during the night. I had done a lot of labor yesterday and that may have helped. Besides cleaning the apartment, I trimmed that hedge and cleaned up after it. That was a lot of stooping to pull weeds. I was really tired last night.

I was up at my usual 5:00AM and made the bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day.

Today I will dust the apartment and perhaps mow the back yard if it is dry and doesn't rain. I cleaned up the leaves in mine and Stephen's back yards too...more stooping. But the yards both look a lot better without the neighbor's tree's leaves all over them.

I may go down to the Copan Restaurant for lunch today. I do have three TV dinners so that depends on the weather.

It's 6:00AM now so I will go check on "the weather on the 8's" and the cats.

Both cats came for their breakfast so I fed them and they both ate their breakfast and left. I brought the cat food back in the garage and covered it. I was about to check the weather when Scott called. I visited  with him until he got to work and then he needed to get off the phone. It was good to hear from him though. I can catch the weather next time it comes up.

It is so good to be able to bring this laptop in the living room while I watch TV.

Today is Friday and the temperature is to be 81 degrees and mostly sunny. Tomorrow is to be 81 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 83 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Monday is to be 86 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Tuesday 83 degrees and scattered thunderstorms, Wednesday is to be 83 degrees and isolated thunderstorms, and Thursday is to be 79 degrees and partly cloudy. Looks like a rainy week ahead. It looks like next Thursday may be the only day to get the yard mowed. By then it should really need it.

I need to get the dusting done now.

I got all the dusting finished and it looks like the grass is too wet to mow...at least now.  I will keep an eye on it later and see if it dries some. It's only  9:30AM now.

 

 This basket is hanging on a hook outside my back door.  It cost me half price at Lowe's.

I did go to Copan Restaurant for lunch and had my small chef salad. 

Then I got the back yard mowed after it dried. I may want to do the front this afternoon. I will play it by ear. 

It's 2:00PM now. I have been entering a payment on the bank site for my Evergy bill. (Westar formerly).

I mowed my back yard this afternoon..

Then after I rested, I mowed my front yard.

 

I will trim later..after it cools down a bit. It's 79 degrees now or I couldn't have done it. I probably won't be able to do the west side unless it cools down quite a bit this evening.

We are forecast too much rain this week....the next five days, in fact. I knew if I didn't get it done today, it wouldn't get done at all with all that rain forecast. 

Dr. Christensen wanted me to get some exercise and so I did today. 

About 6:00PM, I mowed the west side of the yard. It's 6:32PM now. It was a job but I knew we were forecast for rain the rest of the week and Krystal wouldn't be able to do it. It was a big job but I did it. Now all I have to do is trim. If the weather holds off, I will do that tomorrow.

Now, I am going to take a bath and clean up. Then I will read awhile and rest.

I plan to go to bed somewhere around 9:00PM....

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept well last night and didn't wake up once. I was up and dressed and ready for the day by 5:00AM as usual. I am having my breakfast here in the den as I usually do. It is 5:31AM now and in a little bit I will go try to catch the weather forecast. If it rained last night I didn't hear it.

This is Thursday morning and as is my usual schedule, I will clean the apartment later this morning.

I don't believe Stephen and Dee Anna are in the apartment next door. At least I didn't see their car last evening. I haven't looked out this morning. I don't even have the blinds open yet.

So more later...

When I opened the front door, both cats were out there wanting their breakfasts so I took the food out to them. Blondie quickly ate and left but Scruff is still out there eating.  I imagine Blondie has already eaten at home. I am Scruff''s only source of food so she is still eating out there. Although I believe she just left so I will go take in the cat food in a minute. 

I did catch the weather forecast. Today is to be 77 degrees and mostly sunny, Friday is to be 79 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 78 degrees and scattered thunderstorms, Sunday is to be 81 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Monday  is to be 82 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Tuesday's forecast is for 78 degrees and scattered thunderstorms, and Wednesday is to be 80 degrees and AM thunderstorms. It appears today and Friday are the only days in a week without a forecast for thunderstorms. If that all works out, we will be sick and tired of rain.

I did take the the cat food back to the garage and covered it after Scruff left.

It's only 6:38AM. so I am not ready to start cleaning yet. I will wait about 30 to 45 minutes.

It's 7:50AM and I got the floors mopped and all the carpet vacuumed except the dining  room rug. Before I do that, I will rest awhile. I am winded.

I finished the vacuuming and put the vacuum away. Now all I have to do is dust. I will do that tomorrow. I have nothing planned for tomorrow.

I called Cox because my check to them has not yet cleared the bank and I sent it off on May 25th. The woman I talked to said the US post office was the worst way to send anything. I told her about getting my Cox bill lowered and that I had cancelled the old payment and the bank's payment center would not let me put the new amount in so I had called Cox and asked for their billing address and the man I talked to gave it to me. I sent the check with my account number on it and I sent it to the address he gave me. The woman I talked to today at Cox said I had a grace period so not to worry about it. I had the correct address to send it to. I do not like to be late with any bill. That reminds me..I need to put my rent check where I usually do.

I went out to Eggbert's for lunch and had their senior hamburger steak with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans and a hot roll. 

I read for awhile after I got home and then decided to trim the hedge and clean up after it. That was quite a job but it looks a lot better. I even pulled weeds back of the hedge. It took me the better part of an hour to do all that. I swept up the clippings as well as pulling the weeds behind the hedge. It looks pretty good now considering I used the manual hedge clippers.

I am really sweaty now . It's just a little after 5:00PM and I will wait until 7:00PM to take my bath, put my pajamas on and my robe. At 5:30PM I will try to watch the news again or I will read again if it's the same old news.

Sure enough it's the same old news. The latest is that yesterday a man still suffering pain after a back surgery last week and mad at the surgeon, broke into Tulsa's St.Frances hospital and killed 4 people including the doctor who did his surgery last week.

The USA is full of nuts. No other country in the world has mass shootings like the USA any more. Now there have been over 215 so far this year....and this is only June.

Wednesday and Bunco

I slept well again last night but then I went to bed at 10:00PM and that seems to help. I am dressed and ready for the day. I will have to get a treat for Bunco before I go to Coffeyville to get my hair done. I will take my Kindle so I will have something to do after my hair appointment at 9:00AM and before Bunco at 1:00PM. It's supposed to rain today....perhaps storm. I will have to catch "the weather on the 8's" again to be sure.

I have just finished my breakfast here in the den and it's 6:08AM. The cats nay be out there for their breakfast

Since the laptop battery is fully charged, I will take it in the living room with me. It is so good to have a battery again. 

Both cats were out there waiting for their breakfast. I took it out to them and they  ate their fill. Scruff is still out there.. just lying out there on the sidewalk. I will leave the food out there until she leaves too.  

It is supposed to storm today. It is supposed to be 70 degrees and 90% chance of thunderstorms, tomorrow is to be 76 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 78 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday 74 degrees and scattered thunderstorms, Sunday 81 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Monday 83 degrees and partly cloudy, and Tuesday 83 degrees and isolated thunderstorms. That's the week. Lots of rain.. 

More later...I see Scruff is gone too now. I need to get that cat food back in the garage and covered. 

I got that done and it's covered too to stay fresh.

I want to go in and check out the CBS news now. 

Lots of repeated news... 

I left for Coffeyville  at 8:15AM and got there in plenty of time to go get gas at Woodshed. About a half a tank of gas cost me $23.20. The gas was $4:14 a gallon there.

I stopped by the bank and got money for the week.

Then I went to Toni's shop and got my hair done. It really needed it. I had been rained on and my bangs were way too curly.  I sat at the senior center in my car and read my Kindle until time to go in to play Bunco. I got home about 4:00PM

I will check the bank now and see if anything else has been taken out of it. 

No, just what I took out today. My account is still correct.

I stopped at Sonic and bought the child's Wacky Pack for $2.18. On Wednesdays it's always on sale here in Caney.  It's chicken strips and french fries and a tiny Coke.

I was reading again and my niece, Diana, called me and visited with me about an hour. It had been a long time since we had visited. It was very good to hear from her.

It's  7:35PM now and I am going to take my bath and put my pajamas on and read until bedtime at 9:00PM or so.

 

Tuesday and More Rain

I slept very well last night. Of course I went to bed at 10:00PM instead of 9:00PM. That always makes a difference. I was still up at 5:00AM. I have made my bed, dressed and had my breakfast. I am just now drinking my Chai.

Both cats came for breakfast but Scruff stayed the longest. I imagine Blondie ate at home and wasn't very hungry. I put the cat food away after Scruff left.

I have already seen "the weather on the 8's" on Cox this morning. It will be a wet week. It is forecast for 84 degrees and thunderstorms today. And Wednesday 73 degrees and thunderstorms,Thursday 76 degrees and mostly sunny, Friday 77 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday 77 degrees and cloudy, Sunday 80 degrees and cloudy,and Monday 85 degrees and partly cloudy. 

There's several days of rain I notice.   

I have been watching the news. Same old news...nothing new. 

My right hip is still sore so I took some more Aleve. It helped yesterday so I decided to take some more.  It's 8:39AM now.

They are right! That Aleve works even better the second day you take it.. My hip appears to be fine now.

I guess I will go back to my book again. I charged it again last night.

It is 1:45PM now and I  have been reading all afternoon. I have now fixed myself a ham sandwich for my lunch again. I bought all this shaved ham thinking we would eat it for our lunches while Keith and Esther were here.  But that didn't happen. They brought all kinds of leftovers from their  lunch in Bartlesville and the one in Coffeyville at El Peublito. So I ate ham sandwiches and am still eating ham sandwiches for lunch and I haven't made a dent in that ham. I wonder if John and Leslie could use some of it?

Maybe I could call Leslie later this evening and ask.

My new laptop battery came today. Keith ordered it for me. I am charging it now. It's 49 percent charged already. The instructions say to charge it to 70% before using just the battery. 

I took the ham to John and Leslie and then I went on to Independence to the Dairy Queen to get a blizzard.

The new battery is 100% charged now and I guess I can take it in the living room on my lap. I hope this works. 

We are under storm warnings now in Chautauqua County and Montgomery County.  I guess I will go watch the weather channel for awhile.

I took my bath at 7:00PM  and put my pajamas on and then I took the laptop computer in the living room to watch the weather channel. It was fully charged. It's 8:10PM now and there's still an hour and 25 minutes left of the initial charge. 

I will read until 9:00PM and then go on to bed.

Monday and a Visit to Nancy

I slept pretty well last night. I was up only once in the night and I got right back to sleep afterwards. I got around pretty quickly when I did get up, dressed and got myself ready for the day. Later this morning I will go down to see Nancy.

I am having my breakfast here in the den, as usual.

In a little bit, I will go check out the weather and the cats. Later I will try to get into the bank site again. It was down all day yesterday. I wanted to check my balance but the site was down. I tried a couple of times but it was Sunday and no one was there to get it fixed. 

Back later...

Scruff got here for breakfast first.I fed her and she ate until she was full and then left. I put the food back in the garage and covered it. Then later, Blondie came and wanted to eat so I brought out the cat food again and he ate his fill and left. Again I put away the food and covered it.

Then, I finally caught "the weather on the 8's" and we are to have 85 degrees and partly cloudy and windy today. 84 degrees and thunderstorms tomorrow, Wednesday is to be 71 degrees and scattered thunderstorms,Thursday is to be 75 degrees and clouds PM and sun, Friday is to be 77 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday 77 degrees and thunderstorms, and Sunday 79 degrees and AM thunderstorms. Not generally good weather. Lots of rain!

I went up to the Caney Market and bought half and half and bottles of water. I stopped by the post office to buy stamps but I forgot  they were closed for the holiday. Maybe I can get some at Walmart in Bartlesville when I go visit Nancy later this morning.

So, more even later...It's only 8:36AM right now.

I left about 9:30AM for Bartlesville to visit with Nancy. I stopped at Walmart and bought stamps.Then I went on to Nancy's place. I got there about 10:30AM and she was still in her nightgown and robe. I stayed until 12:45AM and then left to go wash my car at Mr. Clean and clean it up. 

David was in town but he had gone to Caney to hear his cousin, Dale,  speak at the Memorial Day service at the cemetery in Caney. He was there visiting with his mom yesterday and would be back to see her again this afternoon.

Then I went out to Lowe's and bought a basket of flowers for $8.88. When I got home, I hung them on the hook in the back yard.

Now I will fix myself a shaved ham sandwich. I am hungry. That shaved ham is very good, especially on whole wheat bread. I think I will go out to Sonic afterward and get a medium cherry limeade slush. They always hit the spot. After that, I will read again.

I went out to Sonic and bought a cherry limeade slush and then I went to Dollar General and bought birthday cards. I have several birthdays coming up. Two of my granddaughters, Christina, November 26th  and Sara, June 2nd. My sons, Keith, August 3rd,  Leslie's husband, John, September 14th,  Keith's wife, Esther, November 14th and Scott, November 29th, and Scott's wife, Ginger, December 5th, and all in the next few months. My daughter has a birthday July 1st, but I am prepared for hers. On June 30th she will be retiring.

I took my bath at 7:00PM and got my pajamas on and robe. Then I went out back and watered that new plant I got at Lowe's this afternoon.

I put a small load of laundry in the washer and it is now in the dryer. It's mostly towels and my underwear. When it is dry I will fold the towels and put away the underwear,  

I notice I have a crick in my back so I took an Aleve in hopes  it won't be hurting when I go to bed. I imagine I walked around downtown too much on Thursday with the kids.

I will read awhile and then I plan to go to bed around 9:00PM.

 

Sunday and Church

I was up as usual at 5:00AM. I dressed and got myself ready for the day. I found Scruff waiting for me to bring her breakfast and I took it out to her. When she finished eating, I brought her bowl back in the garage and covered it.

I waited for the weather forecast and thought I had taken a photo of it but evidently the camera on my phone didn't work so I did not get it.

I have had my breakfast, coffee and Chai Latte. I ate it in the living room this time so I would not miss the weather forecast.That didn't work either since I didn't get a photo of it after all.

I tried again just now to get "the weather on the 8's"and the camera is not working. This phone has been just one problem after another. Tomorrow when I go down to Bartlesville to see Nancy, I will drop by the US Cellular store and  have them check it out.

Oh wait! Tomorrow is Memorial Day. They may be closed. Oh Well!

I rebooted the phone and the camera appears to be working now. Maybe I can catch the weather again in six minutes at 7:38AM. I will see.

I finally got the weather forecast. Today the forecast is for 88 degrees and  partly cloudy and windy, Monday 85 degrees and windy, Tuesday 85 degrees and thunderstorms,Wednesday 72 degrees and scattered thunderstorms, Thursday 73 degrees and showers, Friday 77 degrees and partly cloudy and Saturday 77 degrees and scattered thunderstorms.

More rain it looks like! I don't know when Krystal can mow. Monday or Friday will be our best chances to mow. The rest of the week is rain.

My cousin's widower is to call me this afternoon and take me to lunch. His daughter, Tricia, is with him. They come back to decorate graves every Memorial Day and he usually visits me then too.

I guess I'll go over my notes for today's sermon.

Well that's done. 

I am not delighted with it but I didn't choose the theme. The theme is "Receive Blessing". There's not a lot to say about that theme.

We had a very small congregation today thanks to the holiday. The message went just fine though. I got home about 12:20PM. My cousin's widower and their daughter, Tricia, will be contacting me to go to lunch sometime this afternoon. And Krystal will be coming about 3:00PM to mow. The wind has dried the lawn. 

I had a new battery put in the car. I searched everywhere for the code that lets me set the clock and I finally found it. So I reset the clock and now I have radio too. I am so relieved.

My clock and radio were not working since I had a new battery put in day before yesterday. 

Everett called me and asked me to meet him and Tricia at Eggbert's for lunch. We had a good lunch and a good visit. Then they went back to Coffeyville to decorate graves there.

More later...

I was reading and I heard the mower. Krystal had come while I was reading and mowed the back yard. She came around and emptied the bag and that's when I noticed she had mowed the back yard and was starting on the west side. Then she did the front and I paid her. It looks real nice now. I ran out of string in my trimmer and for the first time, I had to fix it with a new roll of string myself. I got it done and finished the trimming. It looks nice again. It's 4:17PM now.

More even later.....I am going back to my book for awhile.

First I went out and swept off the drive and door mat. Then I went to the back yard and did the same thing...I also swept off Stephen's back yard mat.

More later...now back to my book. It's 4:39PM now.

I sent letters and bulletins out to those of the congregation who were not at church today.

It's 7:10PM now and I will take my bath, put my pajamas on and my robe. I plan to read until 9:00PM when I will go to bed.
