Saturday and At Home for a Change

I woke up very early this morning...even earlier then usual. I finally decided I must have had my sleep out and just got up. I have dressed and made my bed and even had my oatmeal, juice and coffee. Now I am working on my Chai. I believe I will stay home today.  I even fed the kitten...that is the only one that has come yet this morning...one kitten. I need to get some more cat food this morning at Dollar General.

I have been gone the past three days...yesterday to Coffeyville for their cornbread and bean luncheon at the senior center, Thursday to Chanute for Gay's birthday dinner and Wednesday to Asbury Village for Bunco, among other things...bank, gas, library, lunch at Eggberts there etc. I have two more John Grisham books to read but everything else is caught up. Although I never did get the trimming done since we had rain yesterday and will have it the rest of the week and even into next week. Monday is the only day we are not to have rain and I will try to mow on Monday. I will just have to play it by ear.

Tomorrow Nancy is supposed to go with me to church and then after church to Great China with our group for lunch and then back to Coffeyville for that documentary she and I both want to see at the Reawakening Coffeyville office there in Coffeyville. We are hoping Danny, who is in charge of Caney's reawakening group, will be able to use some of those ideas. Nancy will share them with him.

I may go downtown later this morning to see Joyce, Karan's stepdaughter, at Gabby's.

I fixed the last of the first box of blueberries into smoothies last evening. I still have another box of them as well as the lettuce, onions, bananas and potatoes Suzanne gave me yesterday. It's more than I can use. I may take the rest to the food basket at church tomorrow.  I will have to notify Leann that there is stuff in the frig that also needs to go to the trailer park.

More later....

I did take all that food to the food basket at church. I called Leann and told her about it and suggested she go pick it up and give it to those needy people next door to her.

While I was at church I made copies for seven more folders and was going to put them in the mail when I got back to Caney. Unfortunately, the post office here closes at 10:30AM on Saturday so I will mail them on Monday.

I went by Gabby's and had a chicken sandwich and visited with Joyce awhile. I looked at the grass in front when I got back home and decided it needed mowing. So at 6:30PM I changed my shoes and went out and mowed it. Luckily, it was dry. Nevertheless... I was exhausted when I finished and that was just the front yard. I drank a bottle of water.

Then I decided to bake my cake tonight and ice it when it was cool and put it in my freezer. I will take it to church tomorrow and put it in the freezer there. I got that done.

I took my bath and then I read my new book all evening until 9:00PM. That's when I went on to bed...after I finished this blog. As is obvious, I did not stay home today.

Friday and No Particular Plan

It has been a busy week and I really am not sure what I will do today. I am considering going back over to Coffeyville for the $2.00 lunch at the senior center. It is ham and beans and cornbread and apple crisp. Sounds good and for $2.00 I could hardly go wrong. I could get some more gas while I was there too. My trip to Chanute took quite a bit.

I got up very early this morning and realized the schedule I had sent out for the Minister's Message needed a revision. So I got that done first thing and sent it to the Journal and Doug and Roy and Nichole.

I plan to go back over to Coffeyville on Sunday afternoon at 2:00PM to watch the documentary "An Appalachian Dawn" at the Coffeyville Reawakening headquarters at 115 West Ninth Street. It's an actual account of what a small rural community can do when people of all faiths come together for a common goal to revive a community.

I need to make up my bed and get my breakfast going right now and get myself ready for the day. I will get back to this in a little while.

I have got all those things done.   So I will add a little

Gay wanted me to g to Colorado with her in October but I have the Mission Center Conference and I want to go to that. Too bad she is going that particular weekend. She is leaving on Thursday and coming back on Monday,

I have read the Reader's Digest and since I have several more errands to run before I  have lunch at 11:00AM, I will go on over to Coffeyville and get with it. I need to return my other library book and get filled up again at Woodshed and also go back to the bank.

More later...

I took the book and also bought more gas. Then I went to the dinner. It was very good.

When I got home, I read the mail and then Suzanne came over and we went down town and went through a couple of thrift stores. I helped her carry in the things she was donating. She bought me a cherry limeade slush.  After I read the Reporter I took it over to Nancy's. I told her about my meeting with Bill Wade and the Coffeyville Reawakening committee. I intend to attend the film Sunday afternoon and Nancy would like to see it too so she will come to church with me and then afterward go to Great China with those of us who will be going. After that, she and I will go see the documentary at headquarters of the committee.

Then we will come back home.

That's the plan anyhow.

I have had my bath and am ready for bed. I will watch an episode of "Murder She Wrote" before I go to bed at 9:00PM.

Thursday and a Birthday Party

I woke up fairly early this morning. My sinus were draining last night and I had to get up and take a Benadryl tablet to get to sleep. But I slept well after that. I had a text from Scott early this morning that he had become a grandfather.  The baby is Jerod's and his girl friend, Stephanie's, and they named her Delilah Grace. I went to Scott's Facebook page and clicked on Jerod's photo and took the photo off his site. This is my seventh great grandchild.

I am going to Chanute this morning for a birthday party for my dear friend, Gay, that Adele, her sister, is holding at Opie's in Chanute. Gay will be 81 on Saturday.  Adele called me to ask me to come and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Now I need to have my coffee and oatmeal so more later....

I had my coffee and oatmeal and watched the news. Then at 9:00AM, I went out to church to use the copier. I fixed 8 of those packets to send off to classmates that don't have e-mail.  I gave one to Gay. She's an alumni too. I gave her a gift and a birthday card. Her actual birthday is Saturday the 21st..

After lunch I came back through Independence and stopped at their Walmart store to buy yellow manila envelopes to send those packets off in. I addressed them and took them to the post office here in Caney and got them in the mail.

Then I read the newspaper and did the crossword puzzle and watched the news on TV.  It's been another big day.

More later...Tomorrow I may go over to Coffeyville and have their $2.00 lunch at the senior center.
We  will see...

More later...

I read the Reader's Digest until bedtime and then took my bath and went on to bed. I was very tired.

Wednesday and a Very Busy Day

I woke up late this morning and hadn't been up ten minutes when Bob texted me and offered to buy my breakfast if I would come to Coffeyville. I was going to come anyhow since I had several errands to run there, so I took him up on his offer. I rushed around and put myself together and then headed out to a trip to Coffeyville.

I picked him up at 7:10AM or so and we went to Eggberts there for breakfast. As promised, he bought. We had a good visit. I went to the bank afterward and took out enough money for my hair appointment. Then headed for that appointment. Toni did my hair and then I went out to Woodshed and filled up my gas tank. From there, I went to Walmart where I discovered I had lost my grocery list. I tried to wing it. I hope I haven't forgotten anything important.

Then I went to the library to read until my appointment with Bill Wade. Time got away from me and after I was fifteen minutes late, he called me and I apologized and got right over there. He gave me a packet of information on Coffeyville's Reawakening project there to send to my classmates and talked to me at length about the project. I will try to get that done sometime in the next week or so.

After that, I went back to Eggberts and had some lunch. Then I went out to Asbury Village for the Bunco games. I won the prize for most Buncos. I had four. That was a surprise! After I stopped at Braums for milk, I came on back home.

I knew I didn't have time this morning to do my blog so I wanted to get that done for the day.

More later....

By the way, this evening, I became a great grandmother again to Jerod's daughter Delilah Grace, a six pound girl.

Scott texted me about it. He just became a grandfather.

I read my book all evening and finally finished it.  I will take it back to the Coffeyville library next time I am in Coffeyville.

I took my bath about 7:30PM and went to bed at 10:00PM

Tuesday and a Great Night's Sleep

I slept very well last night! Of course, I had mowed the back and that helped.  I slept until 6:00AM and that is almost unheard of in my experience.

I made my bed, dressed for the day and made up my face before fixing my coffee, Chai, oatmeal and juice. Then I fed the cat and her kittens. They ate like that was their last meal. Poor little things... I must be the only one feeding them.

I transferred another $100. back to my savings account. I only owe it one more payment and I will have paid back what I borrowed out of it for my partial. That will feel good.

I still have the large west side yard to mow today. I may wait until 7:00PM this evening to do that and avoid the dew on the grass. I also need to vacuum the den room and dust and I will try to get that done today.

I will have a big day tomorrow. Perhaps breakfast with Bob, my long hair appointment, a meeting with Bill Wade at 10:30AM for the classmate's information, and at 2:00PM, Bunco at Asbury Village.

Then I need to buy a few groceries at Walmart before coming back home and also stop to get milk at Braums.  I need to go to Independence one day soon to buy eyeliner and mascara at their Merle Norman store.

About 10:30, when it was in the lower 80 degrees, I went back out and mowed the west side yard.  It is somewhat in the shade and that made it easier. Then I emptied the bag and filled the kitchen trash bag too and put them both in the trash container. That's done for another week.

More later...It's 11:15AM now and I need to consider what to fix for my lunch.

Monday and Laundry

I got up early, as usual. I have dressed, had my breakfast and fed the cats. I stripped my bed this morning and washed my sheets and towels and underwear. They are in the dryer now.

I will also vacuum the apartment today and perhaps even mow this evening. It will depend on the heat. I will definitely mow tomorrow. I get my hair done on Wednesday. I also think that is Bunco at Asbury Village at 2:00 in the afternoon.

I am to meet Bill Wade at 10:30 on Wednesday too. He is one of the folks organizing Coffeyville's Reawakening to try to revitalize the community. It's going to be a big job. Everyone's online shopping (including my own)  is causing local retail to fail. I do buy my clothing in the store so I can try things on. Amazon has us all spoiled to free shipping and two day delivery.

More later. My laundry may be finished. I need to remake my bed and fold out my towels..

I got the bed re-made and everything put away. I still need to vacuum and perhaps even mow. My right arm is sore this morning so I will just vacuum unless the arm gets better before evening.  The grass is too wet from dew to try to mow this morning anyhow. I will try to do it at 7:00PM or 7:30PM this evening.

Something happened while I was running the dryer. The power went off just for a second. The computer says Firefox crashed and I had to turn it off and let it reboot to get the desktop to come back up. So far, so good. I hope it wasn't the air conditioning that went out. The light in the bedroom went out momentarily but came right back on. I notice it also affected the TV. It automatically went to the Amazon Prime site. I had been watching the Tulsa channel 6 and CBS news site.

More later...

I got everything but the den vacuumed using my left arm. That works! The right arm holds the cord. And in about an hour I will have the mail.

My son, Scott, had an update on the progress on the new home.

Image may contain: house and outdoor

See all the new outdoor lighting!

Not much mail today. No newspapers at all on Monday. It's 4:25PM now. I am hoping the weather will cool off a lit and I can mow the back yard. It is small. If that works out, then tomorrow I will mow the side yard.  That would do it for the week.

I will go read some more. I am reading "The Chamber" another John Grisham book.

It's almost 5:00PM but still 91 degrees out there so I will wait to mow until around 7:00PM. It should be cooler by then. I would like to get the back mowed this evening and that would just leave the west side to do tomorrow evening.

More later...

About 7:00PM, I mowed the back. It was in the shade and that helped. There was also a slight breeze. After I finished, I came in and took my bath. Then I watched "Murder She Wrote" and "Bull". and then after that I went on to bed.

Sunday and Baking Day

I slept fairly well last night and got up earlier then usual since I had so much to do this morning. I dressed and made the bed and then baked the cake for the First Christian Church first. After that cooled, I baked the coffeecake and got it in the oven. When the cake was cool, I iced it. I am waiting for the coffeecake to cool now. I will put a glaze on it.

The cat and some of her kittens came and found me home and food in their dish.  They ate like they were starving. I don't know what they had to eat while I was gone. They missed food on Friday evening and Saturday morning. I fed them before I went to bed last night and again this morning.

The bank site was down last night and Keith and Esther's deposit wasn't in there when they finally got it up again this morning. Hopefully by Monday they will have it in there. Keith said he made the deposit on Friday. If it wouldn't be so much trouble, I would switch banks. This one seems to have a lot of down time.

More later...I will go put that glaze on the coffeecake.

I got over to the church at 9:00AM, opened the doors and cleaned up the few dead bugs. Then I made the coffee and cut the coffeecake. I also put the cake in the freezer.

The service went well. I had quite a bit of coffeecake left. I will take some of it to Nancy this afternoon.

Phyllis and I went to Just Us for lunch. I took her back to the church to get her car afterward. Then I came back home. I never did vacuum. I will do it tomorrow.

I took the newspapers to Nancy with her coffeecake. I visited with her a bit then came back home.

Jerod never did call me today but that's alright.  I texted with him quite a bit yesterday afternoon.

I am watching the Chiefs and the Raiders game waiting for the 60 Minutes program to start. After that, I will take my bath at 7:00PM and get ready for bed at 9:00PM.
