Saturday and Hot Weather

I slept pretty well last and and was only up once to go to the bathroom and take my two meds. I was up at my usual 5:00AM. I made my bed and got myself ready for the day. I don't have much going today. It's going to be very hot again. I will take my walk before it gets very hot. It's supposed to be 101 degrees and sunny today.

I looked for Blondie but didn't see him yet. I don't know how he's doing in the heat...poor cat. 

We are forecast for 98 degrees  partly cloudy tomorrow, Monday it is to be 101 degrees again and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 103 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 105 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 104 degrees and mostly sunny and Friday is to be 96 degrees and  mostly sunny....another scorching week!  

I will check on Blondie again. Maybe he is out there now. It's 6:00AM

Blondie was there the next time I checked and I took his moist food out to him and he ate most of it and left.  Then I took my walk. I saw him in the 700 block on my walk.  He was just lying on the grass the next door south of the library on State street. He seemed very content.

 I finished my walk and had picked up a full sack of trash. I put it in my trash receptacle and came in the house to watch the CBS Saturday morning news. I am drink my Chai Latte now. I ate a breakfast bar but didn't have oatmeal this morning. For some reason, I wasn't that hungry.

I went out to Leslie's and went with her to the sidewalk sale in Independence. She bought us some very good ice cream. After that I bought gasoline. I was nearly out. When I got back to Caney, I called Sally to see if she wanted to go to Copan to eat. She did. After a little while I went to pick her up and drove down there and we ate.  She had a coupon for a free cheeseburger and I had a cup of their vegetable beef soup. She also bought a half order of onion rings and she had me share them with her. They were very good.  Then I took her home. We had a good visit.

And then I came home too. I read all afternoon and then at 7:00PM, I took my bath. It's 7:16PM now. At 9:00PM or so I will go on to bed. In the meantime, I will read some more. I finished one book and will probably have the second one read by tomorrow evening. I have little interest in TV. outside of the news. Occasionally I watch something on Prime TV.

Friday and More Heat

 I slept well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. I am having my breakfast here in the den. I looked and Blondie isn't out there yet. But I did catch "the weather on the 8's ". As I suspected, it's going to be another scorcher week.

Today will be another 100 degree day and Partly cloudy, tomorrow will also be another 100 degree day and partly cloudy, Sunday will also be 100 degrees day and partly cloudy, Monday will be 101 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday is forecast for 104 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 104 degrees also and partly cloudy,  and Thursday is to be 105 degrees and mostly sunny. It's going to be a very hot week...that's for sure! I hope Blondie can survive the heat.

I don't have a plan for today except to go to the library and get another two books checked out. I will go check on Blondie again now. 

More Later... 

He was there this time. I took his moist food out there and he ate almost all of it. 

Then I took my walk at 6:30 and picked up several water bottles, one unopened and completely full, out of the street and a third of  a bag of trash.

I put the bag in my trash container when I got back home. It's 6:59AM now. 

The library doesn't open until 12:00PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, so I will have to continue re-reading an old book I hadn't read in 20 years. It's called "Who Wrote the Bible". I find it interesting. 

I went up to Independence this morning and went to Walmart there and bought school supplies for a third grade girl student at the Caney elementary school. I couldn't find the earphones or whatever they call them so I had to just leave them out. And I had no idea what size shoes to buy for her either.They don't ask for backpacks for that grade either anymore. I was surprised about that.  I took what I could find to the church and left the sacks in the foyer. As soon as everyone gets their school supplies I will take them over here.   

I did make some copies of the needed school supplies.,,,several sheets of them. I left them on the table in the foyer.

About 1:00PM, I went to Eggbert's and had lunch. Then I came home and read in one of the library books  I had checked out after my  lunch. It appears to be another good mystery book. It's 4:10PM now.

I think I will go water he plants in the back yard and maybe the ones in the front by the mailbox too.

Thursday and A Visit With Nancy

 I slept pretty well last night and was only up once to go to the bathroom and take my meds. I plan to go visit Nancy this morning. I also want to wash my car while I am in Bartlesville.

I caught "the weather on the 8's" this morning. Today is to be 100 degrees and mostly sunny, tomorrow is to be 100 degrees and mostly sunny, Saturday is to be 100 degrees and mostly sunny and Sunday is to be 99 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 102 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 103 degrees and partly cloudy, and Wednesday is to be 105 degrees and partly cloudy. Another scorcher! and no rain at all.

I am having my breakfast here in the den. Now I am going to check and see if Blondie is out there waiting for his breakfast.

He was! And I fed him some more wet food and after he finished I brought his bowl in and washed it. I will go out to Dollar General this morning and buy some more. He really enjoys that wet food. It's more expensive but I only have him to feed now. I started with four three years ago. They have slowly either died or were taken to someone's farm barn to kill rats and mice.

I will take my walk now. It's 7:14AM.

I left at 7:14AM for my walk and got back home at 7:46AM. Happily, I didn't get much trash this morning. I never know how much I will find. 

More Even Later...  

I went to Bartlesville to visit Nancy but first I washed my car and cleaned it up. I visited her until 11:30AM and then came on back home. It was time for her lunch and one of the employees there came to encourage her to dress and go to lunch.

I read this afternoon until I finished the second book. Then I took it up to the library drop box and dropped it in. 

I called Sally to see if she wanted to go to Big Cheese for lunch.  She did. She had been over to Coffeyville to the dentist. She had broken a took and had to have it worked on. It will be a week to ten days until she has the crown. In the meantime, she has a temporary.

She needed to go to Independence anyhow to pay her auto registration.  So we went there first before lunch. Then we went to Big Cheese. I had a small pizza and she had something different, I forget the name of it. It was pasta of some sort. Then I took her home and came home myself.

I watched an old Columbo program on Amazon Prime. It was entertaining. It's 5:39PM now. In about an hour, I will take my bath and read something or watch another program on Amazon Prime. until bedtime at 9:00PM. I have recorded the CBS evening news so I guess I will watch it when it finishes recording at 6:00PM.

 

Wednesday and A Skipbo Game

I slept well last night and was only up once in the night to take my meds. I was up at my usual 5:00AM and dressed and got myself ready for the day. Blondie was waiting for me when I finally went in the living room to turn on the TV and get the week's weather report on "the weather on the 8's". It's going to be even hotter this week!

Today is to be 101 degrees partly cloudy, tomorrow is to be 100 degrees and  partly cloudy, Friday is to be 99 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 101 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 102 degrees and mostly sunny, Monday is t be 103 and mostly sunny and Tuesday is to be 104 degrees and mostly sunny. Yes, this next week will be even hotter then any before it. Only one day under 100 degrees and that is Friday. Another scorcher!!!

I fed Blondie some more of the wet food and he scoffed it right down. 

I will get my hair done in Coffeyville at 9:00AM and at 1:00PM we will have Skipbo, a card game, at the senior center. It begins at 1:00PM and goes until 3:00PM or so. I bought my treat for it earlier this week at the Caney Market. Usually there are four or five of us that play. It depends on whether Darlene comes.

I heard from Karan this morning. She did text me yesterday but I did not get her text...for some reason. I checked today and I did get her text. I just didn't get a notification.  Strange.

I took my walk at 7:30AM  and picked up a lot of trash again...nearly a full bag.

It's a little after 8:00AM now and I need to get over to Coffeyville for my 9:00AM hair appointment.

I also stopped at Auto Zone and had the clerk check out my battery and find out why I have no dash lights. He tested and said it wasn't the battery or the alternator. He thought it might be a fuse.

I made it to the hair appointment in plenty of time. Afterward I went to Sonic and bought a cherry limeade slush. Then I went to the senior center and read until time for the Skipbo game. 

After the game, I came on back home and dusted the apartment and read the rest of the afternoon.

Then I stopped by the Drug store here and asked about my prescription. They couldn't fill it because they said the bottle  couldn't be empty. They said it was just filled a short time ago. That may be so but I only had one pill left and I took that last night. So I was to call the doctor's office again and explain my need of a full prescription. I did that. Hopefully they will fill that prescription tomorrow. Otherwise I will have to call again. I think Dr. Christensen only gave me part of a prescription to make sure the new blood pressure medicine was going to handle my swollen feet and ankles.  

Nevertheless, I will need more then 5 pills. 

I stopped by Josh's garage and had him chick out my dash lights. He immediately saw that I had accidentally pushed a button on the dash that turned off the dash lights. He charged me nothing and he pushed the correct button and I had dash lights again.

I took my bath earlier and put my pajamas on and am ready to go to bed now. It's  9:04PM.

Tuesday and Dusting

I slept pretty well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM, made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. Soon I will make my breakfast and eat it here in the den. And that's what I did!

I will check on Blondie after 6:00AM. It's only  5:47AM now and he probably won't be out there. I bought some wet food yesterday to see if he will eat more since it won't be dry food. He is awfully thin and he has those raw sore places behind his ears where something got him and bit him. Poor kitty!

Blondie came for his breakfast and I fed him the wet cat food and he loved it. He ate the whole thing and licked his paws afterward.  I am only feeding one cat now and I am going to buy wet cat food for him and fatten him up. 

I caught the weather forecast and it is going to be a scorcher week.

It's to be 101 degrees today and partly cloudy, 101 tomorrow too and partly cloudy again, Thursday is to be 99 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 101 degrees again and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 102 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 102 degrees and mostly sunny, and Monday is to be 103 degrees and mostly sunny. This week is really going to be a real scorcher!

I took my walk about 7:30AM while it was nice. I got a half a bag of trash. It's only 73 degrees now but it's going to be 101 today...this afternoon... I will dust this morning but I am going to read awhile first.

As it was, I read all afternoon and finished the first library book I had checked out..

I finally got the apartment dusted this afternoon.

And I just took my bath at 6:36PM and put my pajamas on and will read some more. I am working on the second book now.

Monday and a Change of Plans

I am not going down to visit Nancy today. I plan to go on Thursday instead. Last Monday when I got there, she had a physical therapy man there to help her with her physical therapy. He said he would see her on Wednesday when he finally left. He took the entire morning. I can't go on Tuesday because she gets her hair done on Tuesday. and if he goes on Wednesday like he said, I imagine he will be coming to help her on Friday too. So I plan to go on Thursday. I will do my housework today. Since Dean was here on Thursday last week, it didn't get done at all last week.

I also want to check out my dash light situation this morning. When I was coming back from Coffeyville yesterday, I had no dash lights.  I want to have my battery checked today. It may just be the lights themselves but I want to have dash lights working.

I caught the weather forecast for the week again. It has gotten even hotter then yesterday. Today is to be 98 degrees and sunny, tomorrow  is to be100 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 101 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday is to be 101 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 101 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 102 degrees and partly cloudy, and Sunday is to be 101 degrees and partly cloudy. That's the week..scorching hot weather all week long with no rain in sight. 

So far, no Blondie. 

Blondie finally came and ate his food. He had evidently been mauled by a dog or something. He had a tear on each side of his head just behind his ears about the size of a silver dollar.  

I mopped the bare floors and vacuumed.  I also called Nancy's assisted living and asked the receptionist to tell her I would come on Thursday so I wouldn't disturb her physical therapy. She gets that Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I don't want to go tomorrow because that's the day she gets her hair done. So I cleaned today and will dust tomorrow. The vacuum sweeper is charging now. That will take a couple of hours.

I will drive my car and see if the dash lights are working today. It will be a miracle if they are.

Well, there must be miracles. I had dash lights this morning. Weird!

I took my walk this morning at 9:00 AM and picked up an almost full bag of trash again. It seldom gets any better. It's 9:31AM now. The library here doesn't open until 12:30PM. I need to get a couple more books today.

I went up to the Copan Restaurant  and had their two pieces of chicken and french fries and tea for my lunch. 

Then I came home and went the market and then to the library to check out two books.

Then I came back home. I had a letter from the Betterment group wanting me to renew my membership. I wrote them a check and sent it by mail. Hopefully the mailman will pick it up tomorrow. If not, I will take it up to the dentist's office. They meet the second Wednesday of each month. I will have to ask the time again. I think it's 7:00PM.

At 7:00PM or so, I took my bath and put my pajamas on.  I will read until 9:00PM and then go to bed. I am tired...I cleaned the apartment today all but dusting. Tomorrow I will dust.

Sunday and Breakfast at Church

 I slept very well last night. I was up shortly before 5:00AM and started the coffeecake as soon as I dressed and made my bed and got myself ready for the day.

I have the coffeecake mixed up and in the oven. I have had a cup of coffee and a cup of Chai Latte.  

Blondie came for his breakfast this morning. I am going to buy some wet food at Dollar General and see if he will eat more if I do. He is awfully thin.

That's the week...hot, hot , hot!  And no rain!

The coffeecake is finished baking and cooling. I have it iced already. It's 7:02AM now and I will take my walk. I have time before I have to leave for church. I want to go into Coffeyville and put the book I have finished in their book drop before going on to church.

I took my walk at 7:05AM and had very little trash in my sack when I got home at 7:35.. That's unusual. Maybe I am making headway after all.

I covered the cool coffeecake with plastic and will put it in the car later...I will leave here about 9:30AM so I can go by the Coffeyville library and put that one book in their book drop. Then I will go out to church for the breakfast at 10:00AM. Leslie will not be there this morning. I have asked Phyllis to play the piano for the hymns. She agreed. Evidently Kelly won't be there either. He is the only one  besides Leslie who knows how to run the projector for the hymns.

More Even Later.. 

We got through the worship service just fine although I was not happy with the scripture material. I do not like to preach from the Old Testament. The culture of that day was completely different from anything in the modern day culture and much of the material is not relevant to today's culture at all. Women and children were considered a man's property. I personally find that irrelevant to today's culture. I find it easier to preach from the New Testament and Jesus' message.

It's 8:46PM now and I am ready to go to bed at 9:00PM.
