Saturday and Two Hours Work

Today Bob and I will have breakfast and later, at 9:00, I will go work at the library for two hours. That will make up for two of the four hours I missed yesterday for the Good Friday closing. After work, I would like to go to Bartlesville and shop for a new top to go with my new brown slacks. I'll warm up the chicken tetrazzini and after he leaves, I'll go by myself.

He should be here anytime to pick me up for breakfast at Eggbert's. I'll get back to this after breakfast if I'm interrupted.

I'm busy at this time trying to get a list together for the 80th Birthday Bash we're having May 16-17. This has got to be the last reunion I take part in. I'm just too busy to deal with these things anymore.  I spend most mornings trying to get everything here at home done so I can go to work and then come home and rest. That Phyllis, who doesn't have to work and lives in Oklahoma comes up with these ideas but then I am the one who has to get them all organized and I'm too busy to deal with it anymore.

More later....

I worked my two hours on Saturday and then Bob and I went to Bartlesville where I shopped for a new top. I finally found two at Dillard's. Christopher and banks said brown was out of season now. Tough! I found two at Dillard's.

We got back home and I was very tired....all that walking, I guess.

I still had my potato salad and baked beans to make for Easter dinner. I got that done before 6:00.  I will do the coffee cake in the morning.  It's for the breakfast at church.

Anyhow he came over for wine and left at 7:00. I took my bath and Missy and I sat in the recliner until 9:00 when I went to bed.

Good Friday and off Work

I am off work today because of the holiday. I will work a couple of hours the next two Saturdays to make up for lost hours today. Today Bob and I are going to Chanute to have lunch with Tony and Gay and Imogene. Imogene is Gay's 97 year old mother. She finally moved in with them this winter. Tony is going to fry fish for our lunch. He is a great cook. Bob and I will leave about 9:00 so we can take a turn around Chanute after we get there and before we go out east of Chanute to their home. They have 40 acres so Gay can have horses and Tony can have a nice garden.

I slept really well last night. Nothing hurt at all for a change. My right elbow has been swollen and sore lately but it appears to be better.

Missy wanted out this morning just as I was taking the dishes out of the dishwasher. So I let her out by herself and went back to get my coffee and finish getting the dishes put away. When I went to check on her, she was looking under my car and hissing and spitting and growling. When I opened the door she rushed back into the apartment.   After I closed the storm door, a cat that looked just like Missy (but I think was a Tom) jumped up on the door and looked in the window. I ran him off.  He had been under my car and that was why she was hissing, spitting and growling.   Cats!

The storm touched down two tornadoes over at Chetopa and Welch which are east and south of Coffeyville. But there was very little damage. Thank goodness.

More later....

I took Bob and drove to Chanute to have lunch with Tony and Gay and Gay's 97 year old mother, Imogene.  Tony fixed his catfish. He also fixed real chips and Gay fixed two different salads. They had homemade shortcake and fresh strawberries for dessert.  Tony is an excellent cook and so is Gay but he does most of the cooking. We had a great visit.

We got home about 3:30 and Bob picked up his car and drove on to his home. I lay in the recliner with Missy in my lap and took a nap until 5:00. I hope that doesn't ruin my sleep for tonight. I'm not used to naps. He left at 7:00 and I took my bath and put my PJs on.

I ordered a new battery for the laptop that Keith and Esther brought me last year.  The battery would no longer charge and the Del;l suggested I order a new battery..

I will try to stay up until 9:00 tonight. I will work from 9:00 until 11:00 at the library tomorrow to make up half the hours I lost today for Good Friday. Next Saturday I will make up the other two hours before I go to meet Myra for lunch in Bartlesville..

Thursday and House Cleaning Day

Today is the day I usually clean. I don't have exercises and I have all morning to get the laundry done and vacuum.

I awoke at midnight with terrible leg and foot cramps. I had to get up and walk to get rid of the pain. I don't drink much water and after looking up Web MD, I learned that was one reason for leg and foot cramps. So after that, I drank a glass of water ...much as I hate the taste of it. That seemed to fix it and I finally got back to sleep.

I did laundry first thing this morning. I need to get it in the dryer now.

Missy wanted out first thing this morning so I let her out for awhile. She stayed close by so I came on back in the house to drink my coffee and eat my banana.

I texted my grandson an "Happy Birthday!" this morning. He is 36 today. That is two 36 year old grandchildren. Christina is 36 too and will be 37 in November. I have three more grandchildren but none that old. The rest are in their 20's.

I don't work tomorrow because of Good Friday. I will work two hours on Saturday to make up for that.  I will also work two hours the following Saturday.

Today for lunch we will have pork cutlets, mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies and salad. I may have pudding for dessert.

More later....

I spent the morning cleaning up my patio. I got Bob's spin trimmer out and cleaned up around the patio. Then I cleaned the leaves out of my flowerbed. I have lavender planted there and hen and chicks. It looks much better. Then I organized my brooms and rakes. I hung them on nails  on the carport and got them off the floor.

I then went to work and had a very busy day there. Bob came over for wine and Big Bang Theory after I got home. Strangely, I felt pretty good and slept like a baby.  I went to bed shortly before 9:00. We were under storm warnings all evening. I went out and sat in a chair on the carport and watched the storm. All we got was a lot of rain.  I took Bob home and he kept his car under the carport next to Marilyn's. We were warned we might get hail and there is no protection for cars over at Sycamore Landing.

Wednesday and Exercises Again

Today will be the only other day we have exercises since Friday is Good Friday and the senior center is closed. The library will be closed too.  I don't know what I will do with the day off. I want to do something though.

I plan to have chicken tettrazzini for lunch today with a veggie and perhaps the leftover tomatoes Bob brought yesterday. We will have fruit for dessert.

I imagine I will be scanning bar codes again at work today. I am still working on mysteries.  I don't recall how many more aisles I have to do. I will try to remember to count today. Of course, I still have all the non fiction side. That is the entire north side of the library.

Missy wanted to go out this morning so I let her out for awhile. She wandered off though so I went to get her. I insisted she come back home and she did but she growled and hissed at me all the way.  :) She's such a character.  I sure don't want her to encounter another cat and get into another fight. I spent well over $100 getting her well the last time that happened two years ago. She was in the hospital for a week.  Then I gave her antibiotic injections for a week after that. She had developed an enormous cyst where that stray had bit her on the back.  She really has never been as spry since that incident.

Here are the photos of the completed yard work.
This is the east side of the apartment where the pile of leaves were left.

This is the front..between the apartments.
And this is the area that needed trimming. Jeannie still had to go our and sweep the walks. They left that for us to do. Betty also should have the air conditioners checked over before the season begins. I don't know whether she will do that or not.

More later...

I finished scanning the bar codes for the mysteries at the library. I don't know what will be next. I also separated out the 2014 magazines from the 2015 magazines and put the new ones in containers and labeled them so they will be easy to locate.  I was very tired when I got off work. I cleaned two more DVDs and put away dozens of them.

Bob came over for wine and the news. he left at 8:00 and I took my bath and sat in the recliner with Missy in my lap.  I stayed up until 10:00 and saw the last of the PBS show on cancer. Then I went to bed.

Tuesday and a Hairdo Day

And boy, do I need it! My hair has gotten oily from the wind.  My appointment is at 9:00 this morning.

I didn't have to scan bar codes yesterday. Katie was off again. She will be there today so I probably will be scanning again today. Yesterday I put away several hundred DVDs. It's so sad children are not reading anymore. They just check out DVDs and watch movies.

We will be closed for Good Friday so I will probably work a couple of hours on Saturday mornings the next two Saturday mornings to make up for lost hours.  I get paid this Thursday but I will be short four hours. I was off with that cold one Monday at the end of the last pay period.  I didn't have an opportunity to make up those hours. They have to be made up in the same pay period.

We will have hamburgers and french fries for lunch. I have nothing but fruit for dessert. But fruit is good.

Missy wanted to go outside for awhile this morning so I turned on the light and let her out. She ate some grass again and then came back in the apartment.  I think she must need that grass to keep her system healthy.

I fell asleep in the recliner last night while trying to watch the PBS special on Cancer.  I saw a part of it but slept through most of it.

More later....

I put away dozens of DVDs at work. Then Katie came in  and wanted me to scan bar codes about 3:00. I did that until 4:40 and got two aisles finished.  Then I put away another couple of dozen DVDs and left before I got the boxes on the shelves.

When I got home they were finished bagging up all those leaves. They got most of it done but not the east side where my air conditioner was located. I took photos of the mess they left because they had walked across the street and were visiting with neighbors there when I got home at 5:10. They had loaded up the mower on the trailer. I also had Jeannie come  over to see what they had left and talked to Bob about it on my cell phone. I made sure they saw all this activity. Finally (I imagine they thought I was talking to Betty about it) they walked down to the Dollar General store and bought some more black bags, dug into the bed of their pickup under all those filled black leaf bags, and found their trimmer.  Then the man trimmed while the boy bagged the leaves next to the air conditioner unit. Finally when they left, it looked presentable.

Bob then came over and we had wine and a bowl of ice cream. He left about 7:50 and I took my bath and put my PJs on so Missy could sit in my lap. I went to bed about 9:00. I couldn't finish watching the program on cancer tonight either.  This photo shows how they were all loaded up and ready to leave and were visiting across the street.

The above photo shows the untrimmed yard.
The above photo shows the pile of leaves they were leaving near my air conditioner unit. They had mowed all around it but done a messy job. They did not mow west of the flower bed you can barely see the end of on the right.

The  above photo shows the untrimmed grass they left around the poles. You can see they mowed/mulched the leaves they didn't bag.

I will post the improvement after the sun comes up.

Monday Again and Exercises

I guess I will go to exercise class even though Bob won't be there. He has a doctor's appointment this morning at 9:00 so will miss the class.

I work this afternoon, of course. I will probably be scanning bar codes for the inventory again. I got one entire aisle done Friday but it took me two hours. I will probably start on the second aisle this afternoon. The hardest part is the shelves on the bottom near the floor. I have to either kneel or just sit on the floor to scan those bar codes.

Today I plan to have tuna patties for lunch with fried potatoes and the leftover corn casserole.  Bob will bring a salad of some kind. I'm not sure about dessert at this point. I had a little coffee cake left from church yesterday but I ate that with my coffee this morning.

Betty, my landlady, had told me last week that she would send a man to do something about the leaves around our apartments.  They are about two feet deep. I tried to blow them near the street on Friday but they were too wet from the recent rain. When the sun come sup, I will take a photo of them and post it here so those who read this blog will see that I'm not exaggerating.  Last year I raked and bagged them all but I simply cannot do that this year because I am working in the afternoons and I already come home from work every afternoon very tired. I am on my feet all afternoon and there is no opportunity to sit down. Four hours of constant walking and standing is exhausting at my age.

Here are some photos of the leaves piled up in our yard. I tried to blow them out to the street but they were too wet and there were way too many.
Here's another scene..
And the other side of my apartment where the air conditioner is located.
More later....

Bob came over for the news and wine but went home at 7:00. I took my bath and put my PJs on and sat in the recliner to watch that PBS special on Cancer. Unfortunately I fell asleep and missed most of it.

Sunday Morning and Church

I didn't sleep too well last night. I did all right until 2:30 when I woke up and started being concerned about the leaves out on our lawn. Last evening after Bob left, I hooked up the blower and went out and tried to move those leaves out of our yard. It was impossible. For one thing, there are thousands of them...piled two feet high. After I cleared the south end of the middle yard, I noticed the grass had been smothered and will have to regenerate after the leaves are finally gone. Betty, our landlady, told me she had a man coming to mow next week and he would mulch those leaves. I told her they were way too deep to mow and mulch but I don't believe she has a clue just how deep they are. I woke up at 2:30 concerned about the shape the yard is in. The leaves are piled up around my air conditioner. It's a good thing I don't need it because it would burn it up if I turned it on.  Finally I went back to sleep though and slept until 6:10...late for me.

Then I got up, dressed, and made my coffee and also made a coffee cake for church.  Our people really like coffee cake as they are gathering.

Bob came in awhile ago to read my newspaper. We always take the paper to John, my son in law.  So Bob comes a little early to read it first.

More later...

Church was good. Melissa preached and Karan presided. Afterward we all went out to El Pueblito for lunch. I went back out there later in the afternoon  and bought a gift certificate for my grandson, Jeromy, for his birthday on Thursday. That will provide him with a few lunches. He works at the refinery and that is nearby.

Last evening we all went out to Richard and Mona's for dinner and the Living the Questions group.  We got home about 9:00 and I took my bath and went to bed. It had been a big day.

I mentioned earlier that I would post some photos from the women's retreat last weekend.  These are the craft project we all did in our free time. We made these hymnbook angels out of old hymn books.  I thought they were cute although they took a lot of time folding pages.
This is my friend, Jody, and another participant, Ruth. Jody is the one on the left.  They are sitting in the dining hall after lunch. The tables have been cleared but they are catching up on their visiting.
This is my dear friend, Mary, with another participant. Mary is the one on the right.  I didn't know the other woman on the left and did not catch her name. I have problems remembering names anyhow.

This is Sandee, our guest minister. She is a peacemaking specialist for our world church. Our church is one of the peace churches.
