Saturday and the last Day of 2022

I slept fitfully last night. I think I was awake every hour on the hour after 2:00AM. I just couldn't seem to get any restful sleep. Finally I just got up at 4:30AM. I don't have a clue what the problem was. I just couldn't turn off my mind and relax. It happens every once in awhile but I had been sleeping very well lately.

For one thing, I had a problem with my Kindle last night. I called the Amazon "Help" line to get help but the person I talked to didn't know how to help me...strange...it must have been the holiday and the regular "help"person wasn't working. The second time I called for help, I got an automated man who was no help at all. Again, I hung up.The problem was every time I tried to download another book I got an "error" message. Finally, I rebooted the Kindle and that fixed it. That entire experience had me frustrated. That may have been the problem that kept me waking up. Anyhow, it's almost 5:00AM now.

I should go get dressed since my sleep is evidently over...so more later...

O.K. I am dressed and ready for the day. In fact, I am eating my breakfast here in the den.

After I eat, I will go turn on the TV to catch "the  weather on the 8's" and check on the cats too. If they are there, it is usually after 6:00AM or between that time and 6:30AM  and it's only 5:58AM now. So more later...

I lucked out, not only did I find both cats waiting for their breakfast but when I got back in the house, the weather forecast came on,

Today is supposed to be 64 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 66 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 67 degrees and thunderstorms, Tuesday, is to be 46 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 43 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday is to be 43 degrees and sunny, Friday is to be 50 degrees and mostly sunny.  That's the week! I sure hope we get Monday's thunderstorms. We desperately need the water!

Both cats appear to be gone now. They have eaten their fill and left to find a warmer area, I guess.

I will go bring the cat food in.

I took my mile walk this morning after I watched the TV program on the death of Barbara Walters. I left around 7:50AM and got back home at 8:18AM. I got some trash this morning but not as much as usual. This morning I got about a half grocery bag of trash instead of an entire bag full.

I guess I will go read now....

I read until 3:15PM and then I fixed myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for my lunch. I did finish another book.  That's why lunch was so late.

More Later...

I tried to stream ESPN on my computer but I got a message from Cox saying ESPN is not on my schedule. So I can't watch the Ohio State/Georgia Bowl game.

Oh well ..I will go back to reading...

Friday and Dusting

I slept pretty well last night...was only up once and took my meds and went right back to sleep without any problem. I got up about 5:00AM, made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. I am having my breakfast here in the den now.

I have finished and washed my dishes. Soon I will go in the living room and turn on the TV to catch "the weather on the 8's" and check on the cats. I see by the desktop computer that it is 36 degrees  outside now. Of course it's only 5:54AM too. I am hoping it will warm up enough that I can take my walk again this morning.

More later...

Blondie was out front waiting for his breakfast and I took it out. He ate quite a bit and left.I brought the food in the kitchen and I am hoping Scruff will show up soon and I will take it back out for her. She never showed up at all yesterday. She's got to be eating somewhere.

I did catch the weather forecast. Today is to be 53 degrees and mostly sunny,  Saturday is to be 63 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday  is to be 68 degrees and mostly cloudy, Monday is to be 62 degrees and thunderstorms, Tuesday is to be 45 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 44 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday is to be 40 degrees and sunny. I sure hope we get that rain on Monday. The Caney River needs it desperately!

More even later...

I took my mile walk this morning again and picked up a grocery bag full of trash from the street again. I just did that yesterday. Even though I pick up all the trash every time I walk, there is always more the next time. It's tragic that there isn't more community pride here. Typical small town, I guess. Although Westmoreland, Kansas, is a small town too in Northern Kansas and Bob's Aunt Osie lived there and we always visited her every Memorial Day weekend. That town was as clean as it could be..Aunt Osie always said if anyone didn't keep the town neat, they would get a lot of hostility from the other residents.

That's how it ought to be. It's too bad every community doesn't require their residents to keep their community neat or risk a ticket or a fine.

I read most of the morning and then at lunchtime I went out to Eggbert's and had lunch.

Afterward I went out to Sonic and had ice cream. That was it for the day.

I read most of the afternoon and finally at 6:00PM, decided to take my bath. I will read some more until my bedtime at 9:00PM.

More Later...

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning and Laundry

I slept well last night and was up shortly before 5:00AM.  I stripped my bed and changed it to clean sheets and put the other sheets in the laundry. I hear the laundry is ready to go into the dryer now. The washer has shut off.

I have everything in the dryer now.

I ate my breakfast here in the den. It's 6:22AM..

I haven't been in the living room and had the TV on for the weather report yet. I am still drinking my coffee and I want to check my checking account too before I go in the living room.

More later...

I opened the front door and Blondie was there waiting for me to bring him some food.I haven't seen Scruff yet. Maybe she will come later...like she did yesterday. Blondie is eating like it had been a long time since his last meal but it was just yesterday. He has put on a lot of weight but then Scruff has too. He may be gone now. When I am sure he is finished and gone, I will go sweep the leaves away from the front door. The weather may come on at 6:48AM...that's just three minutes away.

Sure enough..he finished and is gone and the weather just came on. Today is to be 65 degrees and   partly cloudy and windy, tomorrow is to be 53 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 61 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 61 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 63 degrees and thunderstorms, Tuesday is to be 45 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 43 degrees and mostly sunny. That's the next week's forecast.I hope we get the rain The Caney River is very low and we are under a boil order here in Caney. I drink bottled water and the only thing I use Caney water for is batheing and washing dishes.

More later...I need to get the laundry out of the dryer. I got the laundry dried, folded and put away for another week. It's only 57 degrees out there. I think I will take my walk now. It's been awhile  since I have been able to do that with the cold and snow and wind.

I took my mile walk this morning and I could tell it had been a week. Not only could my stamina tell it but I also picked up a full grocery sack full of trash along the street. I put that  in my trash container in front of my garage. But it was a nice morning. a little damp but not enough to get wet.

I haven't even began my cleaning so I'd better get my mopping done or it may take me all day.

I have the floors all mopped and the trash taken out and soon I will begin the vacuuming. I will begin with the den this time and use my new cordless vacuum cleaner that Leslie gave me for Christmas and then go on to the dining room. Those two rooms have a short nap carpet and should not clog the vacuum sweeper.

More later...I don't have to rest now. The cordless sweeper will not be heavy.

I had to empty the canister twice.  And now I am charging it again. I got it all done though before it needed to be charged again.

The throw rugs are in the dryer set on "fresh air" and tumbling.

More even later...

It's 10:17AM and everything is clean and the vacuum is still charging. The instructions say it will take 12 hours to charge. I guess I will read awhile now.

I plan to check Eggbert's and see if they are open again for my lunch. Maybe Sally would like to go to Copan Restaurant instead. It's only 10:22AM so I have plenty of time to decide. Sally doesn't work on Thursdays. Just Monday,Wednesday. and Friday.

I couldn't raise Sally so I went by myself. She must have been with someone else..maybe even her kids. I even rang her doorbell but it was obvious she was not home. I had my small chef salad and iced tea and as usual, it was very good. Then I came back home and had the wife of one of my classmates contact me and tell me they had not received a newsletter in two years. I checked and at that time they didn't have e-mail.They do now so I sent her a copy of this year's and attached it to e-mail. She was able to print it off. She will probably get one of those I sent yesterday in the mail too. I sent out 52 by snail mail.

I took my bath already...shortly before 6:00PM. I had had a busy day and was up early this morning so I was ready. I have my pajamas on and my robe now.I will read before bedtime.

I checked again and Scruff didn't come today. She must have found food somewhere else...or maybe a bird...I hope not.

More later...

I got Dean's check today and cashed it to recover what I had already spent of my own money for stamps, the printing and an ink cartridge.

Wednesday and a Hair Appointment

I slept well last night and was only up one time and took my meds then.   And, oh yes, when I took my bath last night, I had water!! Even hot water!! The city of Caney must have got whatever it was fixed!

This morning before I leave for my hair appointment,I will check on the weather and the cats. It's only 5:30AM now and my hair appointment is at 9:00AM...unless Toni calls or texts me and tells me she can take me earlier. Then I will go over there earlier.

Cox Complete Care is having problems with downloading on folk's computers. They have a new program that refuses to work. I talked to four people before I got Ross. Two of them were women with such a thick Spanish accent, I couldn't understand a word they were saying. It took me four tries before I finally got Ross...who spoke clear English.  I talked to Ross on the phone last night for well over an hour and he walked me through getting my document printed even though he couldn't download on my computer with their new program that isn't working. Microsoft had really messed me up. They had me change my password four times last week....why, I don't have a clue. It may continue to happen. They said something about my being hacked. To my knowledge I have not been hacked. Everything worked fine until they started messing with my desktop computer and making me change my password four times. Google is just as bad, They have done it several times too.  What a mess!

I have had my breakfast here in the den this morning and now I should go in the living room and watch "the weather on the 8's" and see if the cats are out there wanting their breakfast .

So more later..

The cats weren't out there yet. But once again the leaves are blowing around and were in their water and even piled up next to the door. I took the broom out there and swept them off...but with this breeze, the leaves will be back at the door soon. I left the broom out there leaning against the corner of the door. I am sure I will need it again before I leave for Coffeyville and my hair appointment.

After I get my hair done, I will go to their post office there in Coffeyville and buy a roll of stamps to get these newsletters in the mail. I separated them out by states yesterday and put a rubber band around each state's mail.  I will stand there at one of their tables and put the stamps on them and get them in the mail there. There were 52 of them that go by snail mail. All the others that were online got theirs day before yesterday by attachment to e-mail.

I bought the roll of stamps at the Coffeyville post office and stood by one of the  tables and stuck the stamps on the 52 letters. Then I gave the box of letters to the postal worker and she took care of them.

More later...I am still waiting for the "weather on the 8's" to come on the weather station on TV .

The weather finally came on at 6:18AM and Blondie came for his breakfast too. No sign of Scruff yet. I will leave the food out there for awhile..just in case she comes or Blondie comes back for more.

Today is to be 55 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Thursday is to be 63 degrees and  partly cloudy and windy, Friday is to be 51 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 57 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 59 degrees and mostly cloudy, Monday is to be 63 degrees and thunderstorms, Tuesday is to be 47 degrees and  partly cloudy. That's the week ahead according to the weather channel. So rain one day next week on Monday. We can use whatever comes. The Caney River is so low because of not enough rain in the fall.

More later...I see Blondie has eaten and left . No sign of Scruff yet.

So More Later...

I got over to Coffeyville shortly before 9:00AM. Toni took care of my  hair and I went by Sonic and bought a cherry limeade slush. I drank that on the way to the car wash...which was not able to wash cars today....it was broken.  Then I came on home. There is a problem with Sonic here in Caney...they have a "boil water " order...probably something to do with our lack of water yesterday. They are very limited with what they can sell because of that. So I didn't get my child's Wacky Pack for lunch today.I may eat some more of that Waldorf salad. It is nearly gone now.

I got a copy of my new supplement policy for Medicare. It is from United American. It cost me $63.00  but I see in the policy that they will raise the premium every year as I age. I might have know...that's what Blue Cross/ Blue Shield did too until it got up to way over $300 a month. Lumico did the same thing. It started out at $120, a month but got up to over $145. a month until I cancelled it. I never exceeded Medicare's deductible Lumico never paid a dime toward my doctor bills. I had to write a check for the cost of my physicals both years. I ended up cancelling my March appointment. There's no sense going to the doctor if I end up paying over $120 for nothing. I have no health problems so it's a waste of my money. If I someday develop some symptoms I will go to the doctor then.

It's a beautiful sunshiny day again..just like yesterday My desktop computer says it is 56 degrees. I took a pitcher of water out to the birdbath in the back and gave the birds some water to drink.I need to spray paint the inside of that bird bath again. That was not a bargain.I paid big money for it and the bowl rusted the first year I had it. I spray painted  when I lived over to the fourplex in Coffeyville the first time. But I need to do it again. It's rusted again.

More Later..

Once Again Microsoft is bugging me about a new password. They have had me change it so much I have no idea which one they want. I tried the one I had in my notes and they said that was not the correct one. Then I tried another one in my notes. It evidently wasn't the correct one either. Now they won't let me set a new one. They are such a terrible problem!

I will be glad when Cox Complete Care is back working again. They can figure this out.

More Later... I am going to go read.

I am going to take my bath in a little bit. Scruff finally came for supper. I fed her and when she finished, I put the food back in the garage and covered it.

I will read after I take my bath ..until bedtime at 9:00PM

Tuesday and Very Little Water

I slept through the night last night and don't believe I was up even once in the night. I got up at my usual 5:00AM this morning, made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. I have very little water this morning but I am lucky to have any at all. Stephen's son has none at all and he and his family live here in Caney too.

I don't have a plan for today yet. A lot depends on the weather.I didn't go to Bartlesville yesterday because there was a layer of ice on the roads. I spread some of the ice melt Stephen gave me on my walk and drive yesterday. That helped a lot.  Nevertheless I did not want to be out on the highways. So I read a lot yesterday and of course I took all my Christmas decorations down and boxed them up and labeled the boxes again. Jeromy, my grandson, will put them in the attic for me the next time he brings Cheyenne, my younger great granddaughter to basketball practice. In the meantime, the boxes are stacked in the garage along the east wall.

I will probably read again today. In a little bit, I will fix my breakfast and check the weather and the cats. It's 6:12AM now and they may be out there waiting for their breakfast too.

I checked the bank and there is still no deposit there from Esther. Strange...

More Later....

When I opened the door the second time, Scruff was there waiting for her breakfast,,,no sign of Blondie. I fed her and took some water out to her too. She ate and left. I knew it was 15 degrees out there and too cold for her to stay there any later.

I left the food out there and sure enough, 15 minutes later...Blondie came and ate too. He is finished now and went to try to find some shelter from the cold.

Then I caught the weather forecast.

Today will be 41 degrees and mostly sunny, tomorrow is to be 54 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Thursday is to be 64 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 56 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 56 degrees too and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 60 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 60 degrees and showers. That's the week! We can certainly use the rain.

I'd better get that cat food back in the garage and close the door now.  More even later...

I went over to Coffeyville this morning to buy a print cartridge for my printer. Then I printed off the Class newsletter and took it to the printer in Bartlesville. Then I went to visit Nancy and took her to Brahms there where we had a small milkshake..Then the print shop called me to tell me they had my newsletter ready and I could pick it up. It cost me about $10.00 more then I was quoted but then it was longer then I told them it would be and by the time I finished it cost more. It was worth it. They did a good job. I took Nancy back to the assisted living and came on back home. I wanted to get those 52 letters folded and in envelopes and ready to go in the mail tomorrow. I will mail them in Coffeyville tomorrow after I get my hair done. That project will be finished for another year.

I still have very little water. I am not sure if I will have enough to bathe this evening. It takes two big pitchers of water to even flush the stool.

Oh Yes! Esther's deposit finally came through!

It's 5:53PM now. I haven't seen the cats again this evening. They will probably be by in the morning for breakfast. I will read until 7:00PM when I will try to get enough water to take my bath. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM

Monday and a Canceled Trip To Visit Nancy

I slept pretty well until 2:00AM when I woke up with my sinus drainage making my throat sore.  I got up and this time I took an allergy pill immediately. Then I got right back to sleep and slept until 5:00AM. That's when I got up and dressed for the day. I made my bed  and will check my bank balance right away.

Then I will go check on the cats and the weather forecast.

So more later in just a minute..It's just as I suspected..Esther's deposit last Thursday still hasn't hit the bank. It must be the holiday that slowed it down. I will check again later sometime after 9:00AM.

I don't think I will be going back to Bartlesville to see Nancy today. The walk here at my apartment is a sheet of ice.The roads probably are too.

I opened the front door again to check on the cats since it's almost 7:00AM. When I took their food out the sidewalk was just a sheet of ice, I had to be very careful walking out there.

The cats ate quickly and Blondie left but Scruff is still out there, No, she just left too. It's 31 degrees out there and with all that ice on the streets and sidewalks, their little feet are probably very cold..

But I did catch the forecast. Today will be 32 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Tuesday will be 40 degrees and sunny, Wednesday will be 53 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Thursday is to be 62 degrees and mostly cloudy,  Friday is to be 56 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 54 degrees and AM clouds and PM sun, Sunday is to be 57 degrees and partly cloudy.

More later....

I have decided not to try to drive on those frozen highways. I saw Nancy yesterday so she probably won't miss me today.

I spent the morning putting away my Christmas decorations, labeling the boxes and I asked Jeromy, my grandson, if he would come by next time he is in town taking Cheyenne to basketball practice and put these Christmas decoration boxes back in the attic for me. He said he would. That will be good. At least for another year.

I called Green Country and asked the woman at the desk to go tell Nancy I wouldn't be coming today because of the ice on the roads.

And I was going to go out today to trim back my Mums this morning but it's 32 degrees out there and there is a brisk wind too. My little garden flag is just blowing horizontally.

More Later...

I was spreading some ice melt on the drive and sidewalk and both cats came back for lunch. They ate very fast and then left again. It's just too cold to be out there very long. Maybe they will come again for supper. I will take the food back in the garage in a little bit and cover it again.  I see Blondie came back for just a little bit, ate a tiny bit but then left again. It's just too cold for them to be out there very long.

I hope the ice melt gets the ice melted off my drive and sidewalk. I think it is beginning to do that.

I climbed up into the attic and replaced the burned out light bulb.  When Jeromy was up there getting my Christmas decorations down, he had to use his phone light. I at least fixed that.

The city of Caney has a water problem. I tried to call them about it but no one answers the phone. I tried to flush the stool in the bathroom and the tank was empty. I took my pitcher and filled it with water and then was able to flush it. I notified Stephen and he talked to his son who lives here and they have no water. I have some water but it is slow. Always something.

I was going to have lunch at Eggbert's but they were closed. I came home and ate some of my Waldorf salad for lunch. That is basically fruit so at least it is healthy. Then I went out to Dollar General and bought some things I needed....$19 worth of groceries. Even then I forgot one thing I needed.....trash bags.

Halfway through the afternoon, both Blondie and Scruff came back for more food and so I took it out again and they ate more and then left.

I read for awhile and then watched the CBS evening news.

I took a with bath very little water and what there was was not very hot. I guess I should be glad I had any at all. Caney has that water problem this evening.

My classmate that began our class newsletter called this evening to chat.  He is going to finance the newsletter again this year. He began it right after we graduated  from high school and had it for several years and then passed it on to a woman in Oklahoma City who had it for several years and she passed it on to a woman in Arkansas. And she passed it on to me and I have had it almost 26 years.

It's 7:08PM now and I will be going to bed at 9:00PM so I will go back to my book until then.

Sunday and Christmas

I slept pretty well last night and was only up once and took my meds then.  I was up shortly after 5:00AM and I dressed and got myself ready for the day. I fixed my breakfast and opened the front door to find Scruff out there by herself. I took her food out thee and she ate greedily and when she was full, she left. I never did see Blondie.I guess I will leave the food out there for a little while just in case he comes a little later..  so far he hasn't.

Today is Christmas and later this morning John and Leslie will come pick me up. I will call Nancy's  Green Country Village  and ask them to have someone wake up Nancy and see that she gets dressed for our dinner out. Their telephone number is 918-331-6842.

I did catch the "weather on the 8's" right away. Today is to be 33 degrees and mostly sunny, Monday is to be 30 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 40 degrees and mostly sunny, Wednesday is to be 54 degrees and partly cloudy and windy. Thursday is to be 63 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 56 degrees and PM showers and Saturday is to be 51 degrees and AM showers. That's the week's weather forecast.

Blondie is out there eating now! I am glad I left the food out there. He is looking around for Scruff and doesn't realize she has already been here and eaten. It's 6:30AM now and I will watch "Hope in the Wild" on CBS.

Now Blondie is gone too. Soon I will bring the cat food in the garage and cover it up. I want to be sure they are finished.

More Later...

My son, Scott, called me this morning to wish me a Merry Christmas. They decided not to go to Ohio after all...the snow storm in the north would be a big problem. They are having breakfast with a neighbor and Scott is going to grill some steaks for their Christmas dinner. They will have it there at home by themselves. A different Christmas...for sure. Ours will be different too..at a restaurant. That's fine. Their son, Jeromy, and his family went to Topeka to be with Marlene's family.

More Even Later.....It's 8:20AM now.

John and Leslie came about 10:30 this morning and picked me up. We drove to Bartlesville and picked up Nancy and stopped at Luigi's to eat and they were closed. It appeared the only restaurant open after all was Ihop..the breakfast place. So we ate there. Luigi's was supposed to be open but perhaps they couldn't get any help to work. The kids were very disappointed but we made the best of it. Ihop was open so we had breakfast instead of dinner. It was good although a lot more food then we anticipated. Nancy and I both boxed up leftovers and we will eat them later after warming them up. I got my arm into the fruit on my pancakes so I am washing my jacket again now.

We came back home and opened our gifts. I sent the gifts for the little girls and Jeromy and Marlene back with them. They gave me a nice cordless vacuum and showed me how to use it. I am charging the battery now. I want to try it out. They had forgotten, if they ever knew,  that Stephen had bought a Shark for the apartment after he learned the smaller vacuum Leslie had given me when I moved here was not capable of doing the entire apartment in one day after we got the new carpet with so much more length and so thick.

I had gotten Leslie a scarf and gloves and John that sign for a fisherman with a joke punch line on it. I also gave Leslie a box of various turquoise earrings.

It was a real treat for Nancy. She loves to get out of the assisted living every week. She was happy to be included in our plans even if it did turn out to be breakfast.  I will take her gift to her on Monday when I go down there. I may go Tuesday but I texted Dale, her cousin, that we had taken her home after we ate. They may go down on Monday. If so, I will go Tuesday.

I have my jacket in the dryer now. The stain came out fine. I figured it would.  I wash it every time I get makeup on it. The collar tends to pick it up from my face. I wash it every once in a while.

Some of the little sparkly Christmas tree decoration on the Christmas wreath Cyndi made for me came off with the wind the day before yesterday. I managed to put it back on and will put it back out on the front of the apartment again after awhile.

More even later...

I had a garden flag in the flowerbed in front of my apartment. It had Santa Claus on it. My landlord gave me a new one with a snowman on it and I went out to hang it in the place of the Santa  Claus and found that someone had stolen it. How aggravating! This place is something else. Every fourth of July, the neighborhood kids shoot fireworks onto my roof or into my yard after I had mowed and cleaned it all up. I told them to stop but they ignored me. I finally called the policewoman and asked her to come talk to them and that got it stopped. But it's always something.

I don't know who stole that garden flag but I know they are a thief! Now I wonder if they will steal the new one. Maybe I should move it into the back yard. What a mess! I have two Christmas wreaths out there too. Those could be stolen next. Maybe I should bring them in and put them in the garage.

More Later....

I did bring the wreaths in the garage. I can't replace them. Tomorrow I will put some hooks on the garage wall and hang them up there. I am going to record 60 Minutes. Right now there is a football game on CBS.

I did take the new garden flag to the back yard. One stolen was enough.  It's 5:44PM now and I may just go take my bath and read until 60 Minutes comes on.

Saturday and a Great Night's Sleep

I woke up at 2:00AM with my sinus draining down my throat and my throat felt raw. I got up and this time I took an allergy pill.Within minutes I fell asleep. I slept until almost 7:00AM..unheard of for me.

When I finally woke up and realized the time, I got up, made my bed and got dressed and even started my laundry. I was out of underwear and my towels needed washing too.

When I opened the front door both cats were out there waiting for that door to open! I took them some food and realized their water was completely frozen too. So I took it in and put the bowl in the sink to thaw and then I took them out a bowl of fresh water. After they finally finished their breakfast, Blondie left but Scruff drank some of that water before she left. She ate a lot. She hadn't been here in several days because of the snow.

I also saw the "weather on the 8's" and got the forecast for the next week.

Today will be 26 degrees and sunny, tomorrow will be 32 degrees and mostly sunny, Monday will be 33 degrees and partly cloudy. Tuesday will be 41 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday will be 55 degrees and mostly cloudy, Thursday will be 63 degrees and cloudy, Friday will be 59 degrees and showers. That's it for the weather this next week.

More later....

I got the laundry dry, folded and put away. I also have the church's towels and I will take them back next week. The snow is still out there but I am hoping it will be gone by January 1st...when we have our next church service. Many of our people will either be out of town tomorrow or having Christmas company for Christmas dinner.

I had put a couple of Christmas cards in the mail box yesterday with the flag up so that the mailman would pick them up for me.  He ignored it and left them in there. Hopefully he will get them today. I don't want to try to drive to the mailbox in this snow.

We are taking Nancy out for dinner tomorrow with us. Hopefully, she will be up and dressed and in the lobby when we go to pick her up. I will go in and check on her when we go to get her if she is not in the lobby waiting for us.

Gina, her cousin Dale's wife, texted me this morning to ask which day we would be taking her with us. I told her we were picking her up for Christmas dinner tomorrow. She seemed satisfied.

More later... .

I went to the Market and got a few things I needed. Then I came home and shoveled most of the snow off our driveways. I will finish that job when I get the groceries put away and rest awhile. It is turning out to be a beautiful sunny day. I see it has warmed up to 17 degrees. Not bad.. considering it was one degree below zero earlier.

I love to shovel snow..and as long as I don't over do it I think the exercise is good  for me.

More later...I think I will read for awhile.

I finished cleaning the snow off our driveways. Then I couldn't figure out what to have for lunch. So I was going to go to Eggbert's but they were closed so I went to Sonic and had a  hamburger and french fries and a small coke. That's something I hadn't had for a long time.

I then tried to balance my checkbook  and was not successful in that. I got off somewhere and could not find where.I am tired now.I will try again to find the error Monday. Tomorrow will be busy and I won't work on it then. It's 4:46 PM now and I have had a busy day.I will go check my mail.I haven't done that since I took those two cards out of it and mailed them myself.

More later...

Friday and The Class Newsletter

I slept poorly last night after 2:00AM. I was concerned that there might not be a way to attach the 2023 Class Newsletter to an e-mail. I tried to figure it out but nothing I did worked. I may just have to print 54 more envelopes and buy more stamps. After awhile I will call Cox Complete Care again and see if they can walk me through it. Yesterday they were able to get several problems solved...although the first thing this morning Microsoft wanted my password to even use either computer and luckily, I had written it down. Otherwise I would not have been able to get the desktop or the laptop to work. Just another hassle...ever since they deleted Outlook, my mail program, I have been in the dark about my e-mail, Just ordinary e-mail works fine but I can't figure out how to send the class newsletter as an attachment with web mail, (the program they used to replace Outlook), to those 54 classmates that are online.

After awhile I will call Cox Complete Care and see how or if that is possible.

It's 5:40AM now and my stomach is telling me that peanut butter and jelly sandwich I had for dinner yesterday evening was not sufficient for today. And I haven't had breakfast yet. I should fix that now.

It's pitch black out there this morning so I can't tell if even more snow had fallen last night then yesterday during the day. The cats never came at all yesterday so they are probably very hungry today if they are even able to get out in this snow at all.

I plan to dust today since I never got to it yesterday.

I went out and scraped the snow off the sidewalk. It's one degree below zero and that is cold!  So I didn't do the driveway. Again, the cats were not out there. They haven't eaten here in two days.

I did catch "the weather on the 8's" Today will be 17 degrees and mostly sunny, tomorrow will be 28 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday will be 34 degrees and mostly sunny, Monday will be 36 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday will be 40 degrees and mostly sunny, Wednesday will be 54 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Thursday will be 61 degrees and mostly cloudy. That's the forecast for the week.

More later....

I opened the front door again and there was Blondie.....waiting for some food. I had scraped the snow off the walk and in front of the front door so even though it's one degree below zero, he was very hungry and toughed it out to eat, Scruff didn't make it this time. I hope she is alright but as cold as it is there's no way to know.  Blondie is still eating out there that's longer then he usually stays to eat. Maybe he knows it may be awhile before he gets another meal. He just now left. He must be very cold. I will go bring in the food...

I brought the food in and put it in the garage and covered it. He didn't come back and Scruffy never made it at all. She must be very hungry by now.

Keith downloaded on my computer with Teamviewer and helped me by reactivating Outlook.  We got all my classmates e-mailed with an attachment for the newsletter, except the ones with no e-mail. I will have to get another ink cartridge to print off one to take to Bartlesville after Christmas to a print shop downtown to have it copied for the other 52 classmates. I will need to get another print cartridge to even copy off the one he will need to duplicate.

I got all the online classmates e-mail addresses in a folder called "Classmates". Then we sent them off to all the classmates who had e-mail.

I called Cox Complete Care to get rid of the full page commercial that kept me from being able to get to my e-mail. It took awhile. He was determined to download Chrome for a browser. I have always used Firefox. It has all my favorites on it already. I tried to be patient with him but it was a challenge.

Thursday and Cleaning

I slept through the night last night without waking up once. I got up at 5:00AM and dressed and made my bed and got myself ready for the day. I took my meds before I dressed and made up my face. It's 5:38AM now and with the wind I can hear, I doubt the cats will even dare to come out this morning. It's pitch dark so I can't tell if it is snowing or not. I know it was forecast for today. I can sure hear the wind out there.

I am eating my breakfast here in the den while I blog. I am finished now except for my coffee and Chai Latte. I  will take my coffee in the living room while I turn on the TV and check out the weather.

So more later ...

The wind is really blowing out there. It had blown the big fancy wreath Cyndi had made me right off the side of the house by the door and I think it is blowing the trash cans around from the noise I hear from over there. I brought that beautiful wreath in the house. I checked and the cats are nowhere to be found. It's 12 degrees out there now. I figure they are under that vacant house across the street on the corner of State and 8th.There is crawl space under that house. It won't do a lot about the cold but it would give them protection from that brutal wind.

After I work up the courage, I will go check out the trash containers. Maybe I can get them into the garage so I won't find them down the street. You can bet I won't be taking my walk this morning.

More later...

I checked on the trash containers and Stephen's was half way down the drive. I pulled it back next to the garage. I don't know how long it will stay there with this wind.  I will keep an eye on both of them. It is snowing a bit but I sure don't expect the cats to come to eat.

The weather is on. I will get back to this later...l got up just in time to catch the forecast.

It is 13 degrees now with AM snow and wind. It will be minus 1 degree tonight. Tomorrow it will 18 degrees and sunny, Saturday will be 25 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday will be 31 degrees and mostly sunny, Monday will be 43 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday will be 42 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday will be 56 degrees and cloudy and windy. That's the week...we will see what really happens. It appears it will "warm up" as the week progresses.

More later...

When Stephen was here yesterday, I should have given him their can of peanut clusters but I forgot to do it. Maybe he will check on me again today or tomorrow and I can give them to him then. I know he will not be staying at the apartment while it's this cold and windy.

I will give John and Leslie theirs when they pick me up on Christmas Day for our Christmas lunch in Bartlesville. If Suzanne comes to bring me papers (I doubt she will in this cold) I will give hers and Steve's to her then.

I was on the phone for another hour with Cox Complete Care dealing with Google wanting me to change my password for this blog.Why..I don't have a clue. They need to just leave me and my passwords alone. Google is more trouble then they're worth.

I need to begin working on my cleaning now. It's almost 9:00AM and I haven't even begun.

More later...

I got all the bare floors mopped and the throw rugs in the dryer on "fresh air". When they are dry I will vacuum.I will do the bedroom and hall and den first and later..I will do the dining room and living room after I rest awhile.

It is snowing harder now. We are definitely going to have accumulation from this.

I hug the wreath back out on the hook outside the front door. I hope it doesn't blow down again. If it does, I will just bring it back in. It's 9:20AM now.

I will go watch the news on "Good Morning America." if it's still on..

The wreath blew down again so I brought it back in the kitchen and laid it on the counter to dry. I won't take it out again while the storm is blowing snow and wind. I don't want it torn up. It's too pretty to leave out there in this storm.

I have everything vacuumed except the living room and I am going to have to rest before I do it. Then I will empty the canister. Moving those heavy dining room chairs is exhausting. I am not supposed to lift anything heavier then 15 pounds and I am quite sure they are well over 15 pounds. Usually I drag them so I don't have to lift them but sometimes I just bite the bullet and do it anyhow.

More later... It is still snowing very hard out there! And the wind must be very hard too because it blew that nice wreath down again.

More even later...

I got the living room vacuumed too and put away the sweeper after I emptied it. I am finished for another week. I may do some dusting again but I just did that the first of the week and I don't see any dust yet. I had a peanut and jelly and butter sandwich for my lunch. It was plenty. I read most of the afternoon and finished my book.

I took my bath at 7:15PM and put my night socks, my pajamas and robe on afterward.

Then I came in here to finish my blog. I don't know whether Keith has a had a chance to fix his blog or not. Neither of my computers can access it today. I will check it out after I finish here.

Stephen came back this afternoon before he went home to Owasso. He had a Christmas gift for me. I was happy he came back because that gave me another chance  to give him the gift I fixed for them...some of my peanut clusters in a Christmas tin. He gave me a winter flag for my little seasonal flag pole and some of his wife's homemade candy too. I munched on some of it this afternoon while I read. It was very good! After Christmas I will put out their winter flag and put away my Christmas one.

It's a little past 8:00PM now. I will work on the computer for awhile. I will need to get another print cartridge before I can print off the class newsletter.

I will start another book on my Kindle and go to bed at 9:00PM

Wednesday and My Hair appointment

I have slept fitfully tonight and am up at 4:00AM after tossing and turning since 2:00AM. I heard from Cox last night that they are trying to charge me an extra $8.75 a month...raising my cost again. I have the very basic starter package and the internet. That's all. I discussed my situation with them several months ago and they lowered my rate to $122.72...now they are trying to raise that again. I went through my checkbooks last night to see how many changes they have made in my rate over the years. When they got it up to $146.37 and even later to  to $156.41 in the past three years, I called them about it and talked to billing and they lowered it to $122.72 and it has been that cost over this past three years. $122.72 should be the cost for such basic service. Earlier this year, they dropped ABC from my starter package and I called them about that and they finally got it restored to my package. Twice I have had problems with the picture tearing and had to call them about that. Someone had to climb the pole in the alley and change out some connection out there to get it back to a picture I could watch without all that tearing. And when I moved here to Caney in 2019, the rate was $109.44 for the same basic service..the starter package.

I lease their router and they installed it when I moved here a little over two years ago. Well it died in November and they brought me another one and installed it. Then they wanted to raise the cost on that. I told them a two year old router should not have died and they owed me one that worked....especially longer then two years. It has been a hassle dealing with Cox.

Now in checking my checking account, I see my new supplement, United American,  has charged me $63.00 already for their premium. I told them not to start their supplement until January1st. I have already paid the $147.25 for Lumico's supplement premium this month and I am covered by them until January 1st.

Always some kind of incompetence!

More Later...I may as well get dressed.

I did catch "the weather on the 8's" early.Today will be 45 degrees and cloudy,  Thursday(tomorrow) is to be 15 degrees and AM snow and wind, Friday is to be 15 degrees and sunny, Saturday is to be 23 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday(Christmas Day) will be 34 degrees and  mostly sunny, Monday will be 36 degrees and partly cloudy, and Tuesday will be 40 degrees and sunny.Snow is still on the forecast for Thursday. We will see...

First only Scruffy came from breakfast but later Blondie came too and Scruffy came back for more. Blondie also drank some water from their bowl. They are both gone nowso I took their bowl back in the garage and covered it.

I left for Coffeyville at 8:30AM and went to Woodshed first to get gas after I had driven there and back from Chanute and even to Humboldt to find that candy store.

After I got gas I went to the beauty shop and had my hair done. I took Toni some of my peanut clusters and she gave me a large bag of candy. She is very thoughtful!

When I got home and called Cox and talked to three different people about the raise in the cost of my Cox Cable...again. I don't know that it did any good. I still have to pay an extra $8.53 a month. I talked to a Nichole this time. My bill will be $131. a month now. Instead of $122.72.  They now have me on record as being an unsatisfied customer for sure.

More later...

I also talked to my car insurance agent. The car insurance is going to be even more then Lexie thought. Instead of $304.73 a half, it will be $333.63 a half. Always something!! It's not due until January 17th  so I have awhile to come up with a solution if there is one.  She suggested I lower my liability insurance to compensate for the difference. She says she seldom suggests something like that but that would be a solution. We will see. I have some time on that.

After that, I ate the rest of Leslie's white chili with crackers. It was very good and now it is all gone.

More later...

I went up to the Caney Drug Store this afternoon and arranged to have both my prescriptions ready for them to fill for me in 90 days. They  are very nice. They know Stephen, my landlord, really well. The pharmacist here's wife works with Stephen when Stephen works there at Wal-Mart every other Saturday and they work together. The pharmacist here used to be the manager of the Coffeyville Wal-Mart. He is very impressed with Stephen. (as am I).

More even later...

Stephen came by to tell me that because of the coming snow storm, he was going home to Owasso and would not be staying next door tonight. He brought me some ice melt just in case I need it tomorrow. Then he left.

I took my bath and put my pajamas on and my robe and read awhile About 8:30, though I decided to finish the blog and go to bed, I had been up way too many hours.

I will put this blog on Keith's before I go to bed at 9:00PM.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get into his blog on either computer. He worked it over today and evidently did something to the address so that I can't get into it on either computer.

Tuesday and A Trip to Chanute

I slept fairly well last night and woke up once to take my meds and got right back to sleep afterwards. I made my bed and woke up wide awake at 4:45AM so I just got up and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I have fixed my breakfast and am eating it here in the den. I see it's 36 degrees this morning and, of course, still dark outside. It's 5:56AM now.

I see by the news on my phone that California had an earthquake last night. I will need to turn on the news to get the entire picture of how bad it was. It was a 6.5 quake. Not a lot of news about it yet.

More Later...

I got the weather forecast right away.Today will be 37 degrees and AM  clouds and PM sun, Wednesday will be 45 degrees and cloudy, Thursday will be 13 degrees and AM snow and wind, Friday is to be 13 degrees as well but mostly sunny, Saturday will be 23 degrees and partly cloudy,  Sunday is to be 33 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 37degrees and partly cloudy. It looks like the snow and wind is forecast for Thursday now.

I checked for the cats earlier but they were not out there. I will check again now.

I checked again and they were both out there waiting for me to discover them and feed them. I took their food out there and they dug right into it and ate hungrily for awhile but the cold eventually got to them and they left to find shelter somewhere. They are gone now so I brought their food dish back in the garage and covered it. It's 7:09AM now.

More even later....

I called my friend, Gay,who lives in Chanute to see if she would like to have lunch with me if I drove up there. She did want to do that. So I left about 9:30 to drive up there. It was cold but not snowing. I got there about 11:10AM and looked around in one of their thrift shops while I waited for Gay to come to town. Then we had a good lunch. She bought mine too.

We visited all afternoon and had a great visit and  started back about 2:30PM.

I am not hungry but later I will eat the soup Leslie sent home with me. It is white chili...made with chicken instead of beef. I have never had that before but I am looking forward to it. It's only 4:00PM now. I will wait until about 5:00PM or 5:30 PM to eat.

My new stocking cap and scarf were in the mail. That should keep me warm on my walks.

More Later.....

I made my peanut clusters and put them in tin Christmas decorated tins. I will give them to various friends and John and Leslie too.I haven't seen my landlord, Stephen, in some time but I want to give him and his wife, Dee Anna, some too.

I am very tired this evening. Not only did I drive to Chanute this morning but Gay asked  me to take her to Humboldt to find a candy store there that she wants to buy some candy in for a friend.

Then after that, I drove home and after I ate some of  Leslie's white chili for supper, I made my peanut clusters. So, it's been a big day for me. I am very tired.  It's 7:08PM now and I just took my bath and put my pajamas on.  I am going to try to stay up until at least 9:00PM. I sleep better when I don't go to bed too early.

I have heard from Cox again today. They have raised my very basic service $8.75. I have been over this constant raising of my rate in the past and I have the very basic TV..the starter package and the internet. That's all. They lowered my rate months ago to $122.72 and I have paid it every month and on time. Now they are trying to raise it again. I have argued with them over it over and over, From time to time, the picture tears and I cannot even watch it. I call them and they try to increase the signal but that seldom works. They end up sending a man out here to climb the pole and replace some part of the connection there. That has happened several times since I have lived in Caney the past couple of years. They provided me with a rental modem when I moved here and that went bad this year and they had to bring me a different one. Now they are trying to raise the rent on that one.

When I get back home tomorrow after my appointment, I will call billing and hash it out with them again. I get so sick of Cox's service. The only good thing about it is what I pay for for those "in home" calls. I carry Cox Complete Care and if I didn't have that, they would charge me $100 each time they send a man out here to try to get everything going again. When I moved here there were 4 dishes on the roof. Now I understand why.

More later tomorrow..

Monday and a Hearing Test

I slept well again last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I made my bed and got myself ready for the day.  I have a 9:00AM appointment in Bartlesville at Hearing Life in the strip mall just north of the Washington Park Mall. Leslie will be going there too because they asked me to bring someone with me. She will take her own vehicle because I will be going to visit Nancy afterward.

Now I will check out my "weather on the 8's" and  see about the cats.

Both cats were there for breakfast this morning and I took it out to them. They are eating hungrily now.

They may have eaten hungrily but they ate fast and then left. It's very cold for them. I will need to take them out some more water. They are drinking what I left for  them yesterday and it is nearly gone..

The weather forecast has not come on yet although it is 6:18AM now and it may be next after the commercials.

And it was...

Today is to be 47 degrees and  AM light rain. Tomorrow is to be 39 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 46 degrees and cloudy, Thursday is to be 34 degrees and snow and wind, Friday is to be 12 degrees and mostly sunny, Saturday is to be 20 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday is to be 30 degrees and mostly sunny. So we are to get snow and wind on Thursday and just colder weather the rest of the week.

More Later...

I left to go down to Bartlesville for the hearing test  about 8:15AM and went by the Okie car wash to see if it was open...it wasn't. So I just went on the the hearing aid place and sat in the car until Leslie came and soon one of the people who worked there arrived and we went on in. I had to fill out some paperwork and then she took us back for the test. It turned out I had moderate hearing loss. She tried a couple of hearing aids on me and demonstrated some more testing. She suggested a couple of hearing aids that cost a total of $5,000.I knew I couldn't buy those, They were way out of my budget. I sure didn't want to go into debt for them.

After that I went to get Nancy so I could take her to lunch. We met Sally there and she sat with us and all three of us visited.

I took Nancy home to the assisted living at 2:30PM and then I came on back home.

When I got home I called Charles and he told me I made too much money for Medicaid. I am not at all surprised but it was worth looking into.

I took my bath at 6:00PM and will read until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

Sunday and the Congregation's Christmas Dinner

I slept pretty well last night again. I got up once in the night and took my meds and got right back to sleep.

I am sleeping better it seems. If my sinus's weren't constantly draining, I would sleep even better. When I wake up I find my nose is completely stopped up with the drainage. That's life, I guess...with allergies. Any medicine I've ever taken just makes me drowsy all the time. I sure don't want to deal with that. If it isn't one thing, it's another. Getting old is not for sissies.

I was up at my usual 5:00AM. I am having my breakfast here in the den now.

I will go turn on the TV and watch for the weather and the cats. It's 6:04AM now and they may be out there.  I will take the laptop computer in there to blog too.

More later...

The only cat that showed up for breakfast was Scruff. She ate quickly and then left. It is very cold out there. I will wait awhile to see if  Blondie will show up for his breakfast. If he doesn't come pretty soon, I will bring the cat food back in the garage and cover it. He may be in some sort of shelter from the cold like under that house kitty cornered across the street. It's empty and a complete wreck. But there is open crawl space under it for shelter from the cold..

It is 19 degrees out there so I won't be taking my walk today.

I caught the weather forecast and it is also a bear on Monday and Thursday. Today will be 47 degrees and mostly sunny, Monday will be 43 degrees and AM rain and snow showers. Tuesday is to be 36 degrees and cloudy, Wednesday is to be 40 degrees and cloudy, Thursday is to be 28 degrees and snow and wind, Friday will be 10 degrees and mostly sunny and Saturday will be 20 degrees and mostly cloudy. I am not looking forward to the snow and the extreme cold. Winter is here.

More Even Later...

I have been watching "Good Morning America" on TV. It is 9:02AM now and our church won't start until 11:00AM today and we won't have our usual breakfast but I will go over a little early to go to the bank and get some money and then out to Walmart there and get a couple of things I can't get here. I will then go out to our church about 10:30AM and take my Waldorf salad into the kitchen and get the things out we will need for our dinner and brew the coffee for those who want coffee. I will be happy with iced tea. I have had my coffee with my breakfast this morning.

More Later ..

I went to the and first and withdrew $50.00 for the week.  Then I went to buy gas and last of all went to their Wal-Mart to get the two things I couldn't get here at Caney.

Then I went out to church. We had a good service and a great Christmas dinner afterward. Phyllis and I did the dishes while the others wrote Christmas cards for those at the nursing home in Coffeyville. It used to be Windsor Place but Medicalodges bought them out.

We will not have church next Sunday. It will be Christmas Day and many of us will be with family for Christmas dinner and time with family. We will have our Christmas service on New Year's Day.

More Later...

I wrote letters to those not at church today and included a bulletin so they would have the announcements and the prayer list. I will put them in them in the mail tomorrow.  I need to buy stamps again.

More even later...

I watched the Mission Center service on Zoom. Leslie was the speaker and she did a good job.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at 9:00AM in Bartlesville to have my hearing tested for perhaps another hearing aid for my left ear. I will see if Medicaid will pay for it. If they will, I will check into it. I will leave here at 8:00AM so I won't be late for the appointment.

I took my bath awhile ago and I will read until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

Saturday and a Waldorf Salad

I slept well again last night. I was up shortly before 5:00, dressed and stripped my bed and put clean bedding on it and put the sheets and towels and my underwear and pajamas in the washer. It is all in the dryer now.

Later this morning I will make up the Waldorf salad for the Christmas dinner at church tomorrow. That's the only other thing I have on the agenda this morning. I do still have to dust the apartment. With everything else that went on yesterday, I never got around to that.

When I first got up this morning, I went in the kitchen and picked up my original car key and took it to the garage to see if it would lock and unlock the car...and it did! One less thing to be concerned about!

In just a bit, I will fix my breakfast and eat it here in the den.

So more later...I have my breakfast now. Soon as I finish, I will go check on the weather and the cats. It's only 6:22AM now but they may be out there. My desktop computer says it's only 27 degrees out there now.  Pretty cold for a couple of cats. In fact, pretty cold for me. If it doesn't warm up some after it gets light, I may not take my walk. If there's no wind I may be able to take it if I bundle up well.

More later..

Both cats were out there waiting patiently for their breakfast. I opened their new cat food and it has gravy on it and they are really enjoying it. The dryer just stopped so I will go fold out what is dry.

I got the laundry done and folded and put away.

Now The cats are gone. They are probably looking for a warmer place. I took their food back in the garage and covered it.  So the laundry is finished and folded and put away for another week. Now I am just waiting for "the weather on the 8's" to come on.

I finally saw it at 7:21AM...certainly not on an 8.

Today is supposed to be 43 degrees and sunny, Tomorrow is to be 49 degrees and mostly sunny, Monday is supposed to be 46 degrees and mostly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 41 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 38 degrees and cloudy, Thursday is to be 16 degrees and AM snow showers, Friday is to be 15 degrees and mostly sunny.  That's the week. The forecast for snow is still in there on Thursday. We will see...this is Kansas and anything can happen. It's 7:27AM now.

More even later....

It's 8:46AM and I just finished making the Waldorf salad and have it covered and in the frig to marinate overnight. I ate some grapes after I finished it. I had some washed and I didn't want to waste them. They were seedless and I had to buy a lot more then I wanted. I may end up eating them. I don't know if they would still be good by Christmas. This is just the 17th. That's another eight days.

It was 29 degrees out there and there was a brisk wind too but I took my walk anyhow. I picked up another grocery bag full of trash.

 More even later...

At 11:30PM I went by Sally's home and saw her car there and called her to asked her if she would like to go to Copan Restaurant for lunch. She was game,  so that's where we went for lunch. We each had a cup of vegetable/beef soup. It was very good. Since we ate lightly, we ordered a piece of Chocolate pie and split it. That, of course, ruined our good intentions.  :)

But was it good!!

I took her home afterward. Her daughter,Jennifer, and her husband were in Bartlesville for a couple of weeks so she will see them soon. They live in California but they have an RV and use it when they travel.

I received a mystery gift today. It came from the Oklahoma City Amazon store but there was no name on the card with it. I guess it will remain a mystery. I would like to send a thank you note to whoever sent it but I don't have a clue who that would be...maybe one of my classmates...who knows.

It's a beautiful gift. It turned out to be my eldest son, Keith. And it lights up too. I put three triple A batteries in it and switched it on..it's lovely!

I set it in front of my lamp so that brass above it is not a part of it. It's the base of the lamp behind it.

May be an image of indoor

What a neat gift!

I took my bath at 6:30PM and put my pajamas and robe on. I never did get to my dusting but I can do it tomorrow afternoon.

I will watch TV for awhile and then about 9:00PM, I will go to bed.

Friday and Dusting

I had a restless night last night and I was up at a little after 4:00AM. I had looked everywhere last evening for a letter I had received last month about "extra help" I was going to get from Social Security. I looked through my Medicare folder in the file cabinet because that's where I put anything I get from Medicare or Social Security. I was just sure I had put it in that folder but I could not find that letter. I did find the letter I got saying I would get the 8.7% increase in my Social Security benefit but that did not mention the "extra help" the other letter mentioned. I won't get that addition to my Social Security benefit until January 11th or thereabouts anyway. That was not the letter I was searching for.

This morning with a clearer head, I realized I was looking through my Medicare folder. I took out my Social Security folder and there that letter was..right on top. I will contact Charles this morning and see if I can go up and see him and show him that letter. He said on the phone last evening that we need to review my case because of my low income and total cost amount of my annual and monthly budgets.

More Later....

I found both cats out there waiting for their breakfast and I took their food out to them. They are eating now. I took them out some clean water. They were needing a drink and their water dish was empty.

I am waiting for "the weather on the 8's" to come on. It didn't happen at 6:28AM..maybe next time.

I finally caught the weather forecast for the next week. Today is to be 41 degrees and mostly sunny, Saturday is to be 42 degrees sunny, Sunday is to be 48 degrees and mostly sunny and  Monday is to be 45 degrees and AM rain and snow showers, Tuesday is to be 36 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 39 degrees and cloudy, Thursday is to be 15 degrees and partly cloudy and Windy.Wow! Thursday is going to be a bear at 15 degrees and with wind too.

More Later..

I tried to put a comment on Kay's blog but I got a strange drop down menu and could figure out how to get past that so I could make  a comment. I hope someone can get a hold of her to tell her.

More later ....

I went up to Independence and talked to Charles. He helped me discover that Medicare had signed me up to a prescription drug plan. He also gave me a gift card for a free meal at some place called "Creative Concepts" right downtown on Penn Street on the west side of the street. I had a toasted chicken salad sandwich and some sweet tea there. It was very good. The waitress told me everything they sell is made right there.

After I ate a wonderful chicken salad sandwich and drank some tea, I went back to my car and the remote would not work to unlock the door. So I had to unlock it with my key. I went from there out to Quality Motors and got a woman in the parts department to remove the cover and insert a new battery. She would not let me pay for it. She said they never ask people to pay for batteries. While I was there, I met Alan's son, Josh. And also got to see Alan. Alan looked much the same except for the grey hair. It was good to see Alan again too. I worked there back in the early 70's and it has changed a lot since then. Alan has bought the dealership too now.

Then I came on back home.

Keith called me a little bit ago and we had a nice visit. Scott had called me this morning before I left for Independence. We had a good visit too. I tried to call Leslie to tell her about my experience at the insurance office. She was not at home so could not talk much. I gave her the basics and let her go.

Now I need to go buy a few things at Dollar General.

All I needed was Friskies cat food and Dawn, the dish washing liquid. But I learned something new after all. It wasn't the battery that was the problem with the remote. Even with the new battery, the remote still doesn't work. So I will still be locking and unlocking the car with the key. I imagine if I took it down to the dealership in Bartlesville, they would charge me an arm and a leg to fix it. So I will lock it and unlock it with the key anyhow.

More Later

I got home just fine and read until 8:00PM. Then  I took my bath and put my pajamas and robe on. Then I went back to my book.

I plan on going to bed my usual time...9:00PM.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

Again I slept soundly and never woke up at all until 5:00AM. I took my meds this morning when I finally got up. I made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I am having my breakfast in here in the den.  I bought breakfast bars and oatmeal yesterday after my social security came in along with the ingredients I needed for next Sunday's Waldorf salad for the Christmas dinner at church.

More later after I check on the weather forecast and the cats.

Scruff was the only cat out there. But I fed her anyhow. She seems to be looking for Blondie to come. I don't know where he is this morning but she's still eating. I hope he is alright. She is still waiting out there. It is strange he is not out there. But she is still waiting for him to come.

Anyhow here is the weather forecast for this week.

Today will be 42 degrees and partly cloudy,  Friday is to be 39 degrees and mostly sunny, Saturday will be 42 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 47 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday will be 47 degrees and AM showers and snow showers, Tuesday is to be 36 degrees and partly cloudy, and Wednesday will be 33 degrees and mostly cloudy.

That's the next week. We will be watching to see if we get rain and the first snow here on Monday.

Scruff has given up on Blondie. She has left now. I will wait a little while to see if Blondie will finally come to eat. It's strange he never came when Scruff did come by herself.

At 7:50AM Blondie finally showed up for his breakfast. I took it out to him and he dug in!

It's late for him. He must have been in the house when his owners live. He seems quite hungry though. Of course, he's a big boy!

I don't think I will take my walk this morning. It's 29 degrees out there and that's pretty cold. I will wait and see if it warms up any.

He finally left and after awhile,  I brought the food back in the garage and covered it.

If I am going to clean this morning, I had better get to it and start mopping .

More even later...

I got the mopping  finished was just beginning my vacuuming when Leslie called to say she had an appointment with the dog groomer in Bartlesville to have Mini groomed this morning. She wondered if I would like to go with her. She is going to do Christmas shopping. while at that shopping center.  I was finished mopping and was starting my vacuuming but figured I could finish my cleaning tomorrow because I would rather go with Leslie. She will leave her house at 9:00AM and be here in 15 minutes I figure. I finished my vacuuming and will dust tomorrow. It's 9:02AM now.

I'd better get my coat on....

She came at about 9:30AM and we went to Bartlesville to have Mini groomed. After we left her to be groomed, we walked around the shopping center and browsed in the stores. Then we went to The Panda Chinese Restaurant for lunch. She bought my lunch and also some other things at one of the stores for one of the girls, her grandchild. She also bought Christmas wrapping paper and bows.We picked up Mini and she was very clean and smelled nice and looked nice! I got back home about 12:15PM. I had enjoyed the morning.

I read awhile and then watched the news I had recorded. I went up to Mr. G's and had a small butter pecan flurry. At 6:15PM I took my bath. I read until the Kindle needed charging. I had had my phone on the charger and it was mostly charged so I changed it to the Kindle.

Now it's 8:01PM and I will find something to read until 9:00PM. It's really too early to go to bed.

Wednesday and a Hair Appointment

I slept very well last night again. I was up at my usual 5:00AM. I have not had breakfast because I need to go to the market and get oatmeal and breakfast bars in order to have breakfast.  I can have juice but that's all. My hair appointment is at 8:30AM so I will have to do my shopping after my hair appointment but first I have to find a UPS office to get that package in the mail back to Amazon. That probably means I will be making another trip to Independence after the hair appointment. First I will check the VNS drug store there on 8th Street in Coffeyville again this morning. Surely it's not closed with not even a sign on the door indicating that. It's worth a try. It would sure save me another trip to Independence. I need to drop by my bank this morning too and get a new debit card. The one I have has been compromised. They are still taking the $5.00 a month out of my checking account for the Caney Historical Museum and Gina closed my debit account there.

More later.  It's 5:43 now and I want to get that label taped  to the box with the Christmas tree in it.

And the cats never came at all yesterday for food. Surely they will be there outside the door this morning. I will check that and "the weather on the 8's" at 6:00AM.

Both cats were out there when I opened the door so I took their food out to them. They ate hungrily and finally left. I am sure they were hungry this morning.  They never made it at all yesterday...too much rain. I will go get the dish and take it into the garage and cover it.

It's 6:45AM now. I plan to leave for Coffeyville and my hair appointment at 7:45AM. So I have an hour. I got my package ready to go back to Amazon. I attached the new label over the old one.

I did have one piece of coffee cake and so I had some juice and coffee and ate that one small piece even some Chai Latte.

More later... I caught the weather:

Wednesday is to be 44 degrees and mostly sunny,  Thursday is to be 41 degrees and mostly sunny, Friday is to be 38 degrees and mostly sunny, Saturday is to be 41 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 47 degrees and sunny, Monday is to be 41 degrees and cloudy, and Tuesday us to be 35 degrees and  mostly cloudy. That's the week...no rain this week evidently.

More even later..

Again, I got in early for my hair appointment and the bank was not yet open so I decided to go on up to Independence and see about getting that package sent back to Amazon.I learned that it wasn't actually at Anna Mae's coffee shop there in Independence. It was in the same building but down the hall a bit.It would have been open when I was up there but I didn't know it was not actually in the coffee shop. Anyhow, I got that taken care of and went back to Coffeyville to the bank and got my new debit card from Lisa and then used the drive threw there at the bank to get my week;s cash. Then I went out to Woodshed to get more gas.

The drug store location there on eight street was permanently closed.

I went to Orscheln's to get John and Jeromy's Christmas gifts. All my Christmas gifts are now bought and I need to wrap them.

More later...

For lunch I went out to Sonic and had their Wednesday special...a child's Wacky Pack with two pieces of chicken, some tater tots and a mini coke. ..and a small toy....all for $2.08 on Wednesdays and only at Caney's Sonic.

I took my Caney water/trash bill payment in an envelope up to Main street and 4th street and dropped it in the payment box on the corner. They will probably deposit that check today or tomorrow.

It's 1:31 PM now. I will go wrap those last two Christmas gifts.

I got that done! Now all I lack is the girls gifts.I ordered them yesterday from Amazon. They should be here before Christmas.

 More even later...

At 7:00PM, I took my bath and watched "The Christmas Carol" on Amazon Prime.I had bought the movie several years ago, because I always watch it at Christmas time. I will read until 9:00PM, when I go to bed.

Tuesday and a Dental Appointment

I slept well again last night and was up shortly before 5:00AM. I made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day.

The dental office called me a couple of days ago with a cancellation for today at 10:30AM and I took it. I need a prophylaxes and this was the first time I could work it into my schedule and they could work it into theirs. Tuesdays are usually pretty easy. I will have to pay them tomorrow when I get my social security. I am seeing Nancy on Mondays now and Wednesdays are sometimes busy with my regular hair appointment at 8:30AM and sometimes game day or Bunco at the senior center and I never like to miss those. Thursdays I clean the apartment but Fridays are pretty empty usually too unless I save that for dusting the apartment.

I have an eye appointment with Dobbins on January 11th at 11:00AM. I will probably need new contacts then...at least one. I only wear one in my right eye. Roger got my left lazy eye starting to work several years ago and at that time it had 20/30 vision. But I will have to pay that appointment off in payments...unfortunately. When they called me with this  appointment, I told them that.

More later... I will get my breakfast, check on the weather and the cats now.

The cats are not out there...it is 62 degrees and raining. I did catch the weather forecast though. Today will be 62 degrees and AM rain and wind, Wednesday will be 44 degrees and mostly sunny, Thursday will be 41 degrees and mostly sunny,  Friday will be 39 degrees and mostly sunny,  Saturday will be 42 degrees and sunny, Sunday will be 47 degrees and partly cloudy. Monday will be 38 degrees and PM rain and snow. That will be our first snow of the year...if it develops ....remember, this is Kansas and anything can happen.

The cats are nowhere to be found. It's raining lightly out there. I'll check again. It has stopped raining now and they may be out there.

I went up to the dental office at 10:15AM and got right in. I read a magazine about 15 minutes and then they were ready for me. She cleaned my teeth thoroughly and then I had the exam from the dentist. Everything was fine.'The dentist does not accept Medicare therefore not my supplement, Lumico, either.

I finally got the Christmas tree I had ordered from Amazon. It was supposed to be four feet tall and fully lighted. I opened the box and it was terrible. It was simply pitiful looking and there wasn't one light on it. I contacted Amazon and got customer service. They e-mailed me a label that I could print off and instructions on how to return it to UPS. I assumed that meant United Postal Service..our post office.  I took it up there and they informed me that it wasn't them. I had to take it to Independence to Anna Mae's coffee shop for UPS..

So I loaded it back in my car and made a flying trip to Independence and found that she closes at 2:30PM. There was no one there. So I knew a drug store,V&S Variety on eight street just west of the schools in Coffeyville also was UPS since I had sent Keith several computers from there. So I made a flying trip to Coffeyville only to find they were no longer open at all. I was there at 4:30PM so they should have been open if they were still in business at all. A complete waste of an afternoon and nothing accomplished at all. I will need to check V&S Variety tomorrow after my hair appointment and see if they are still in business at all. If they aren't, I will go back up to Independence to Anna Mae's coffee shop to get that package in the mail. Whew!! What a mess!

Monday and a Trip to see Nancy

I slept through the night last night and didn't wake up even once. I was up at my usual 5:00AM, made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I am having my breakfast here in the den now. It's 6:00AM now and soon I will go check and see if the cats are out there for their breakfast. But first I want to check my bank and see if any more checks have cleared.

No, the same ones that cleared yesterday evening.

So more later...

I lucked out and found both cats out there and took their food out to them. Just as I got back in the house "the weather on the 8's" came on so I grabbed my phone and got a photo of the weather for the week.

Today is to be 53 degrees and PM showers, Tuesday is to be 62 degrees and AM rain and wind, Wednesday is to be 42 degrees and mostly sunny, Thursday is to be 40 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 39 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 39 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 39 degrees and partly cloudy.  That's the week!

Now the cats have eaten and left. It's 49 degrees now. I will take their food back in the garage and cover it.

More even later...

I took my walk at 7:50AM and got back home at 8:28AM. As usual I got a sack full of trash from the street. I put it in my trash receptacle for the trash people to pick up tomorrow. I must be making a dent in it because there was a little less of it this time. I suppose there will always be some because people who don't care tend to just toss stuff out of their cars onto the street.

It's 8:33AM now.

I came back from my walk and went up to the post office and bought stamps. I wrote five letters to those who were not at church and told them about the Christmas dinner we will have next week at church. There will be no breakfast next week since we will be having our congregation's Christmas dinner after church at noon. I sent each of them a bulletin so they would also have the prayer list and the announcements.

I went to Bartlesville early. I needed some things I can't get at our market here so I stopped at Bartlesville's Walmart store and bought them. Then I went on over to visit Nancy who lives just across the street at the senior care unit. She dressed and we went to the Boulevard Restaurant there in the Tuxedo area to eat with Sally. Sally has breakfast and we have lunch there.

We visited quite a bit and then Nancy and I went back to her apartment and I stayed awhile and visited and left about 3:00PM. It drizzled some while I was in Bartlesville.

I stopped at Mr.G's and had a small blizzard.

Then I read awhile and also answered my mail.

Ashley Roper, Donna's great niece, who is a teacher here in Caney, stopped by to see if Stephen and Dee Anna had decided to rent their side of the duplex. I told them I didn't think so since they use it like a motel. I told her their grandchildren live here and they attend their games when they have some games. But I took her name and telephone number again just in case something changes.

It's 6:38 PM now and I will take my bath in a little while. The dental office called and they had a cancellation for 10:30AM tomorrow and wondered if I could come for my dental appointment then. I will do that since it has been over a year sine I have been to the dentist.

In about 15 minutes I will take my bath and put my pajamas and robe on and read until 9:00PM, when I go to bed.
