Reverend Wright

You know, it is really a shame what Reverend Wright has done to Barack Obama. Obama stood by this minister and trusted him until he just couldn't any more and Reverend Wright really betrayed that trust. It may cost Obama the election in the end. It has benefited Hillary and really benefited McCain. Obama was wise to finally cast him off since he had really betrayed a friendship. When he said Obama actually agreed with his point of view but couldn't say so because of politics, that was the last straw.

Yet, we know Obama combated that by being very low key in his response.

But how could a minister do such a thing to a friend? The man baptized him and his children and was his pastor for years. All this to promote his upcoming November book. I wonder if he will think it was worth it in the end.

I really believe that he's doing it for what he believes is Obama's own good. Many African Americans believe that the first black president will be assassinated and what possible good could he do for our country if he's dead? Especially with two young girls to raise?

The stakes in this election are even higher than they were in 2004. The Republicans are like cornered animals (which is when they are the most dangerous). They'll desperately hold on to power by any means necessary because they know that a Democratic President can open up investigations into all the crimes committed by and during the Bush Administration.

Hillary would make a tougher president, I think. Obama, as great as he is, there's still the worry that he won't live long in the White House. I was born after the MLK and RFK assassinations, but I always get sad when I read about it. I'd hate for that fate to befall Obama, as I believe that he has a bright political future ahead of him.

Any president has that possibility, Nicholas. Even the first woman president would have that possibility. I am amazed someone hasn't assassinated Bush...he is so hated in some circles.

God protect him, though! Assassination would be a major problem in many ways....not the least of them being that someone would make a martyr out of him, just as we would like him to be prosecuted for his war crimes.
