I got up just after 4:00 AM. I had gone to bed very early. I was so tired. I got the coffeecake ready to go in the oven and then ran out to Walmart to get a few things...mostly pecans for the coffeecake. I was completely out. I took my note over to Rick and Carmen's house but could not tell which house it was in the dark. I will text them their invitation this time.
I took Missy out for awhile while the coffeecake was baking. She was fairly good...could have been a little better. After awhile, she was ready to come back in and I needed to ice the coffeecake anyhow.
I got my text off to Rick. I hope they will still be at church today. I imagine we will eat at "Just Us" after church.
It s almost time to pick up Bob so I'd better see to my last minute stuff. Phyllis is in Overland Park visiting her daughter there. So I will just pick up Bob this time. More later..
Church was good. And the fellowship is always great! Afterward we went to El Publito for lunch. It was o.k. I am not crazy about Mexican food. But we were seven of us and it was o.k.
After that, I came home and did the congregational newsletters and got the one that has no e-mail out on my mailbox for the mailman to pick up tomorrow. I notice I have poor TV reception again this afternoon. I may not be able to receive 60 Minutes again this evening.
Sure enough..reception was so poor for TV that I just went to Amazon Prime and watched last week's 60 Minutes there. I should be able to get this week's 60 Minutes now that the program is over. I may be able to get it tomorrow. I may try.
Missy and I watched a couple of episodes of "Cheer's" on Amazon prime after I had my bath. At 9:00PM, we went on to bed.

Saturday and Cleaning
I slept very well last night and only woke up once. I have watered the flowers and deadheaded them already this morning. I took Missy out with me and only had to herd her back home one time. As I was finishing the watering, Bob stopped by to check us out. He was waiting for Joanne to get up and around for breakfast out.
I will clean the apartment this morning. I usually clean on Thursdays but, of course, I was gone to camp on Thursday. Missy peed on the floor in the bathroom this morning. She was in the litter box but not turned the long way and she peed right over the side. I got a wet rag and cleaned it up. Now I will wash it again with the wet swifter.
In awhile I will try to call Nancy. She asked me to let her know when I was back. Maybe she would like to go to lunch. I will need to go over there on Monday too to pick up my glasses. They called while I was at camp and left me a message. They were closed on Friday so I will have to wait until Monday to pick them up.
More later...it's time to clean the kitchen and bathroom.
Well it's only 9:30 and I have the apartment all cleaned up. I called Nancy like she asked me to when I got back home and we are going to meet for lunch. I will go over at noon and pick her up. Missy will take an afternoon nap anyhow so she probably won't miss me.
I have taken Missy outside several times and she has behaved herself pretty well. She comes in when I want her to pretty much without much argument. She looks like she's ready for a nap already. Poor old cat...she sleeps a lot.
I called Nancy and she agreed to go to lunch. She was practicing her piano for church on Sunday so I made the time noon.
I cleaned the apartment in the meanwhile. I usually clean it on Thursday so I was a couple of days late and it needed it. The vacuum picked up a lot of cat hair.
Nancy and I went to Eggbert's for lunch and had that same chicken salad we had the last time. She insisted on picking up the check. I left the tip. I will get lunch next time.
I stayed until 4:00 and then needed to get home. I really enjoyed my visit with her. I will go back over on Monday to pick up my glasses. Maybe I will see her again.
After I got home, I washed my hair again and later laid down with Missy and watched Amazon Prime. I tried to watch the news but the little antenna in the attic just would do it. I went to Amazon and tried to stream it but could only get past newscasts. Then I went back to the news on 6 and found that if I didn't close the steaming, I got a very good picture and did get to watch the news on 6. I had missed the CBS news by then.
We watched a couple of episodes of "Cheers" before bedtime.Missy and I went to bed about 8:30. I was very tired.

Friday Following Camp
Well, I am home again. We cleaned the camp this morning and then left. I got home before noon and did my laundry cleaned up some after Missy. She tends to strew the litter around the bathroom floor. I wiped all that up.
I sure appreciate Bob coming over and taking care of her morning and evening. I would have to leave her at the kennel if he wasn't willing to do it. She wanted out for awhile after I unpacked but was determined to go around on the patio and lie in the shade of my rose bush. That was the only shade and I wasn't about to sit around there in the sun. So I finally just picked her up and brought her back in.
She definitely did not like that!
I had a very good time at camp. I saw a lot of people I hadn't seen for awhile and had some good visits.
I have put away my clothing. Now I have to empty the dryer and put that stuff away. I'll get back to this later..
Marilyn, my neighbor, brought me some cauliflower and I cooked it with some salt and cheese and had it for my lunch. Then Missy and I laid down on the sofa and watched a couple of episodes of "Cheers". She is still lying there sleeping.
I read the Reporter and did the crossword puzzle and now will take the paper over to Marilyn.
I need to run over to Brahms and buy some milk. Other wise, I won't have any for breakfast I always have oatmeal for breakfast and I also need to get some more litter for Missy so I'll get back to this later...
Got my groceries and the litter and took my bath and Missy and I watched a couple of more episodes of "Cheers" before going on to bed at 8:45PM. I did not sleep well last night. I hope I can tonight.

Friday and Another Exhausting Night
I woke up at 2:00AM and that was the last of my sleep. I could not get back to sleep. Finally, at 4:00AM, I just got up. It was futile to try to sleep any longer. Yesterday was such a frustrating day. Today I will get last minute stuff taken care of before I leave in the morning for camp. I will go into Joplin and look around at Christopher and Banks. I don't need a thing but if they have any great bargains, I may buy something.
Then I will go on to Olive Garden and have lunch. registration begins at 2:00 Saturday afternoon. This year I have no responsibilities so I hope to have a good camp experience. It will be hot! Luckily the dining hall is air conditioned and so are the cabins. I will stay in a cabin by myself. The lodge is just too noisy. People stay up laughing and carrying on at all hours.
Leslie will be bringing my little great granddaughter girls for the first time. So with Sage and the two little girls, Leslie should have her hands full. I will try to help her keep track of them.
More later...It is 5:00AM now and I want to get my breakfast. Missy has had hers.
Missy and I went outside after I had my breakfast and it was still fairly cool out. I watered my flowers and cleaned them out.
Emmett showed up n time and got that hole filled under my bathroom cabinet. I was sure happy about that.
After he left I went out to Walmart and then went to lunch and also bought Bob's birthday gift.
When I got home I read awhile and also planned the offering part of Sunday's service. Crossroads is in charge.
I also checked my bank account. I had planned to ask Leslie to hold my check until after the 11th but discovered that Keith and Esther had sent me a deposit! So I won't have to worry about that. My kids are so good to me!
I am watching the news now. I will probably go to bed early. I was up at 4:00AM this morning.
More later...
After I ate my yogurt, Missy and I watched a couple of episodes of "Cheers" and then went to bed at 9:00PM. I was very tired! I will pack tomorrow.

Thursday and a Lunch with Gay
I slept well considering all the noise. And even though I got up twice last night, I managed to get back to sleep until 5:00AM, my regular rising time.
I had an e-mail from one of the widows of a deceased classmate and she reminded me that another of my classmates had passed away this week. I saw the obit but forgot to send it out to the classmates. I was glad she reminded me. I am class locator for my class of 1953 and I keep track of all that as well as I can. I also send out a class newsletter in the week between Christmas and New Years. My classmates keep me supplied with the money for two rolls of stamps and two ink cartridges. I provide the paper and envelopes. There are 128 of us left and we have lost at least 138. I have lost track of 27 classmates over the years.
I need to get my breakfast and I will get back to this later...
I've had my breakfast and even taken Missy out while I watered my flowers. She got ornery though so I made her come back in. She is unhappy about that.
It's 10:05 and Emmett still has not yet come. I have left a note on the door for him. I will leave in 30 minutes for Chanute. I will leave the door unlocked so he can get in and get his job finished. He will have to lock it when he is finished. I hate to do that but I am tried of waiting around for plumbers and maintenance men. I will be gone for another week for camp starting on Saturday and I cannot just reschedule his job any way he might want. I still have all that stuff from under the sink laying on the daybed in the den. I only hope he cleans up the bathroom after himself. I spent some time cleaning up a mess after the plumber. I raised my family to "if you make the mess, you clean it up".
More later...
Emmett never came! He never brought Carmen the carpet cleaner either. She took the day off to clean the carpet. I still have that gaping hole under my bathroom sink and I am leaving Saturday morning for camp. I will be gone a week.
I have tried to call Betty on both her phones and got the answering machines on both. She has gone to the lake and has no signal there.
It is 3:05 now and I don't know whether Emmett will ever make it today. How aggravating!
More later....
Emmett dropped the carpet cleaner by at 5:00. He had had an "emergency" at 5:00AM today and worked on that all day. Carmen had just gone to rent a machine at Dollar General. Luckily I was able to get hold of Rick and he got to Dollar General just in time to get her to return it. I was really angry and I told him Emmett was leaving Saturday morning for camp and would be gone a week. Friday was the only day I would be there to let him in for a week. He said he would come at 10:00AM in the morning. We will see.

Wednesday and the 4th of July and Exercises.
I slept pretty well last night and finally got up at my regular time...5:00AM.
Kay had asked the exercise class on Monday how many of us wanted to come to exercise class if she would come and open the door. Most of the class said they wanted to come so she will open up the senior center at 8:30 for exercise class. I will go.
I fed myself and Missy this morning and took her outside while it was still relatively cool. She really enjoys that. I came back in in time to watch the CBS news.
I will clean after exercise class since tomorrow seems to be a full day.
I went in the bathroom to make up my face this morning and discovered that all that sawing, etc, yesterday had caused a deluge of dust all over everything even inside my makeup drawer, So I had a huge mess to wash up. I had to take everything out of my makeup drawer and wipe everything down even the contents of the drawer. I will run the swifter mop in there in a bit. That floor is filthy too. Plumbers do not clean up after themselves. Disgusting!
I did the kitchen and bathroom floors before exercise class. They are dry and clean now.
The news will be on in less then ten minutes. More later...
I watched the news until time for exercises and then when I got home from that, I vacuumed the entire apartment. I had a large four inch wad of cat hair in the canister afterward. I dumped that in the trash. It's amazing how much that cat sheds.
Now, all I have to do is dust.
I am not sure what I will have for lunch. I have plenty in the freezer. I just have to make a choice. It's only 11:00 now.
Well, I had my lunch and read for awhile in the afternoon.
At 5:00PM I turned on the news and after that, I watched a couple of episodes of "Cheers" before getting ready for bed. At 9:00, Missy and I will go to bed.
And then the fireworks began. It went on indefinitely. Sometime, out of sheer exhaustion, I went to sleep.

Tuesday and Hair Day
I slept pretty well last night. I woke up twice but after going to the bathroom to take my med and cleaning up Missy's litter box, I got back to sleep and slept until 5:00AM....my regular wake up time.
I have fed Missy already and have myself ready for the day.
I have to be in Independence at 7:30 to have my color touched up. Kathy missed part of the back and will redo that this morning. I will drop by Juanita's and pick up my calculator. I left it there last week when I balanced her check book. Then, if they are open, I will stop by the Merle Norman place and buy some mascara. Mine is pretty well gone.
The plumbers are to be here at 8:30 to put the Y in the drain under my sink in the bathroom and Bob will come over and let them in. I will get back home as quickly as I can. They will also have to get into the apartment next door. Carmen is to leave a key.
I took everything out from under the sink here last evening.
More later...I had better get my breakfast now.
I ate my breakfast and then took Missy out while I watered my flowers. When I got back from Independence, the plumber was here. he worked until 12:00 or so and finally finished the job. I went over to Marilyn's and worked on her computer and also got Cox to tune it up. Now it works much faster.
Marilyn and I went to lunch at the Kansas Buffet and when I got home I tried to patch that hole with a piece of cardboard but it was just too irregularly shaped. I texted Betty about it and asked when Emmett could come repair the hole. I told her I would be gone from the7th until the 13th to camp
I am full now. Lunch was good..
Betty finally got back with me and told me Emmet would be here on Thursday to patch the hole under my bathroom sink. I am to go to Chanute on Thursday to meet with Gay and a friend or two at Opie's. I don't know how early Emmet will be but maybe I can find out from Betty later today. I hate to cancel my date with Gay but I may have to do that.
Later this evening I watched the movie "Chappaquiddick". It was, of course, about the crisis Ted Kennedy caused by leaving the scene of an accident where he drove his car off a narrow bridge and he escaped the water drowning but he left Mary Jo to die in that car. It was interesting to see how easy it often is for a rich person to escape the law. He didn't report the accident until 9 hours after it happened. He was sentenced to two years...suspended sentence. ..and that was for leaving the scene of the accident.
At 9:00, Missy and I went to bed.
