What A Morning!

We spent the entire morning trying to get the roman blinds hung for the guest room windows. What a mess. Bob is having terrible time seeing following his cataract surgery and could barely get those blinds up. And we had to take down the curtains and valences that were up in there. Then he had to fill in the holes those curtains left. I will have a garage sale next weekend and try to get rid of as much such stuff as possible.

It will be the middle of September before he can get new lenses for his glasses so he can see clearly again. Plus, one window was slightly smaller then the first one and I had to force the blind in place. It worked though.

It seems everything is a struggle anymore. Nothing is easy. But the window shades look pretty good now. I need to use my steamer on them so they will relax a little and not have wrinkles where they were folded.

This is my patriotic room. With the boys both serving in Iraq when we moved into this house, I felt that it was appropriate. You can't see it very well, but just to the right of the window is a picture of Keith when he was 18 and enlisted. He served three years in the active army and then joined the reserves when he got out. Then he spent many years with the national guard and that was where he was serving when they activated him and sent him to Iraq, at the age of 50.

That wall above the quilt rack has pictures of our family. You can also see all my scrap booking equipment just to the right of the window.

Your new blinds look lovely, Margie. How wonderful that you pay tribute to your sons (and to all in the armed forces) by decorating your guest room like that. I'm sure they enjoy staying there when they come.

Yes, they do. They both have stayed in it. Keith stayed there when he came home from Iraq and before he moved to Phoenix and Scott stays there every time he comes home from Fort Leonard Wood Missouri nowadays.

I love the blinds and the red, white, and blue room. What a great idea to have a patriotic room. It looks so nice.

Thank you, Judy. I worked hard on that room when we first moved in five years ago.
