Special Dogs
Dogs are something else. Now that it's colder I put Slinky in the garage at night. The only way I can get him in there is to offer him some cinnamon toast. Then he comes in. In the morning about 6:00, I hear one bark...then a pause...and then another bark. He wants out to pee. I get up and let him out in the yard. His tail wags nearly off his body.
Later, after I get the coffee made and one cup in the cup, he waits for his cinnamon toast. He sits down for it....without being told, he knows he won't get it if he doesn't sit down.
Later, he comes to the door and barks once, waits and then barks again. He wants to go for his walk. If I ignore him, he goes to lie down..disappointed.
When I do come out for that walk, I pick up his leash and then he comes alive..tail wagging furiously. If he's out in the yard and sees me pick it up he comes running as fast as his legs can carry him. He loves his walk. He keeps me walking at an almost uncomfortable pace....but that's good for me.
He's quite a dog. Sometimes he comes to the window and puts his front paws up on the sill and looks in at me. He just wants company. I'd let him in but he smells bad. I don't know what to do about it. Even when it was warm enough for his bath and we bathed him twice a week, it wasn't long and he smelled bad again.
He's a real sweetheart but he still smells bad.

He's a dog. He smells like a dog. FInd one of those do-it-yourself dog washes! We used to take Bacchus during the winter months until he outgrew the tubs! Now we do it in the garage with the hose attached to a hot/cold spigot! You may have to squeegee out the garage - or get him a child's wading pool to stand in! There are all sorts of options.
Oh, yes, he sure is cute!
He smells a lot worse then any dog I've ever had before. We live in a small town with no do-it-yourself dog washes. And unfortunately we have no hot/old spigot. But thanks for all the suggestions.
Yes, he is a cutie with lots of personality.
I had a friend with one of these dogs several years ago. She asked the vet about his odor and the vet said these kind of dogs have a natural hound dog smell about them. I don't think there is anything you can do about it. Slinky sounds like a great dog though and I just love that name for him with all the wrinkles.
He is a great dog. he's 11 years old but has lots of charm.
He is a cutie! And I love his name. I have a Minature Schnauzer and the great thing about them is, they don't shed, and they have no doggie odor of any kind. But whatever, he is a delight and a joy to have around all the time.
I'd like one of those or a Shitz Zue.
Hey Mom, Kathie wants Daisy to have pups, she is a maltese chiwawa.
No more dogs right now, Keith. Thanks anyhow. We have our hands full.
Aw...he's cute, though. All this talk about how he smells only makes me curious. How "bad" is "bad"? I've smelled bad things before, but can it really be that bad?
Oh yes, it's pretty bad, Nicholas.
