The Republican Debate

I think Rick Perry will find that the largest voting block in the nation are senior citizens and they will not appreciate having social security pictured as a big "ponzi scheme". All of us have paid into the Social Security program all our working lives and so did our employers. Congress used that money to pay for wars and everything else that came along and that's where the mythical social security trust fund went when it disappeared. Seniors vote. They may vote against him for that reason.

This debate helped Romney. He at least sounded intelligent which is something else Perry lacks. However, the south will be a big problem for him. The south (the Bible belt)does not like Mormons and that will cost him.

Perry had to call social security a "ponzi scheme" because he had that in his book. That book is going to kill him. Ponzi was a criminal who duped people. The reason social security isn't a ponzi scheme is because it would have been there for everyone if congress hadn't spent it over the past 50 years. Seniors vote. Most young people...especially Republican young people do not vote in a Republican primary. Seniors do.

I haven't seen anyone yet that I think could win the presidency.

You're right about the Seniors voting bloc. I only wish so many Seniors hadn't been taken in by the Tea Party, and convinced to vote against their own best interests. I'll never understand that.

Me either, Betty. They are living in a dream world and are too gullible.
