Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept well last night and only woke up once to go to the bathroom. It was nearly 5:00AM  when I got up. I have dressed and am eating my breakfast now and drinking my coffee.

I heard from my classmate, Dean, last evening. He e-mailed me that he was planning to go to Texas the middle of August to visit some relatives there and may stop by here and visit me too. He calls it "spoiling"me because he won't let me cook while he is here and we eat all our meals out. We usually take a trip of some kind. He usually checks on a farm he owns south of South Coffeyville too. One time we went to Woolaroc southwest of Bartlesville. He had not been there since he was in high school.

It will be good to see him again. We are 85..soon to be 86 and he is the one who started our class newsletter while he was in college at KU...many years ago. Over the years, four of us classmates have done it. This will be my 24th year if I recall correctly.

I finished my mopping and vacuuming and when I opened the tank to empty the dirt, there wasn't any. Evidently the vacuum isn't working. I always get a big wad of dirt when I empty the tank. This time...nothing. I have no idea where to have it looked at. As far as I know there is no longer a vacuum repair shop in the area. There used to be one over at Coffeyville but it closed several years ago. I may just have to buy another vacuum sweeper. Leslie bought me this one when I moved here two years ago. Darn...all that work for nothing.

I called Liebert Brothers in Coffeyville and they agreed to work it in around all their air conditioning service. They are a Hoover dealer and I had bought two Hoovers from them over the years. Perhaps that is why they agreed to work on the Black and Decker for me. I worked up a sweat just vacuuming the living room with the large one I borrowed from church. I will probably do just one room a day with this big Bissell.

I heated up the other half of the sandwich I got at McCalister's on Tuesday in the microwave and that's what I ate for lunch..along with some of that fruit punch I mix up. It's sugarless. Then I had an ice cream bar for dessert.

Schwan's brought my order and it is a lot more expensive then those frozen meals at the market. I think I will stop using them and just buy those at the market that are so much cheaper and I won't have to pay for delivery either. I can eat the deli meals from the market at least once a week and when I am not in Coffeyville on Wednesdays I can get a Sonic child's meal at Caney for $2.18. Then I can eat my chicken salad at Eggbert's once a week too.

Back to my book....

I read for a couple of hours and then decided to go to the market and get some more bananas. I just ate my last one. They last me a week by putting them in one of those green bags with a couple of paper towels and  press all the air out that I can and tie off the end with a flexible little tie like you get at the market in produce. They are still barely green at the end of a week but are very eatable. I get my potassium that way. It's 3:07PM now.

More later...

I read until 6:30PM and then about 7:00PM John, the husband of the woman whose girls mow for me. brought the youngest over to mow. She does a pretty good job and I got out from time to time and take her bottled water. It was 92 degrees when she was mowing. It was very hot for me out there. I couldn't stay out. After I paid her and they left, I took my bath and cooled down and felt a lot better.

I will read again now and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM. It's 7:48PM now.

Your friend's visit sounds like something to look forward to for August.

Yes, it is. He has been a faithful classmate. He bought the stamps for the last mailing last year. I sent out 65 by snail mail the the rest by an attachment to e mail.
